For the most it had been a dull day, like many of their days, at least for Thoran. The dark skinned lad had slowly started to get involved in more things the past sevendays, spurred on by Hinuk; who in turn was spurred on by Seirsha herself. They’d succeeded in finally getting the lad out and being more active; and D’seus himself had been sure to get the boys to do something whenever they were with him. The past sevendays Zorometh’s hide had been cleaned, oiled and polished so much Hinuk at one point was sure the bronze would suddenly gleam like the new gold dragons around. Of course, so many activities also meant they were getting constantly exhausted; a blessing in the end for it meant Thoran had less restless nights, and so was beginning to actually get some much needed sleep. Throughout most of the day the boys had been helping clean dragon harnesses as part of their chores, though the sudden drop of Brat Pack pranks had definitely been odd. Not long ago Seirsha had finally come with the report Hinuk had been impatiently waiting for so long now: Orlai’s clutch had finally been laid in the sands. Slowly at first they had started lowering down in the number of pranks and kitchen raids they usually performed, all the members instructed to keep acting as normal as always – and just pretend to be busy with chores and more chores. Hinuk just hoped this would throw Emera off their trail, though he’d have enough encounters with the old hag for his mind to tell him otherwise. Tonight was the night, however, and as the candlemarks started reaching dinner time both lads had slipped away from their chores and into the kitchens. With the bustling and rush to feed the riders and weyrfolk in this rush-hour they had found it easy enough to stow away scraps of bloodied and raw wherry meat and guts. Each lad had filled a leather pouch with as many as they could fit inside before hustling out the Lower Caverns. They needed to move quickly, before their charge and others started to notice the unusual lack of the Brat Pack at the dinner table. Afew of the younger members had been instructed to go and stay put, create as much sound and commotion as possible without seeming out of place, but it would all come down to just how well Glow would be able to distract that old bag of bones. ”You sure this is going to work, Hinuk?” “Of course, that thing’s been brooding over those eggs like her life depended on it. Bet you ten marks she’s gonna go for the meat.” “Oh, so we’re betting now? Alright, I’ll call you on that, and raise you ten marks she’s gonna ditch it as soon as you lay a hand on an egg.”Turning around to look at his best friend Hinuk arched an eyebrow, before a smirk played in his features. It was finally time Thoran seemed to be getting back to his old self; with a fist bump, dirtied with some blood and gut scraps from the raw wherry they’d hastily snatched away, both boys sealing their bet and locking it in place before continuing to make their way to the rendezvous point: the entrance to the secret passage way that would lead to the far off sides of the Hatching Sands, close enough to the stands the boys hoped to use for cover as they would device a plan to get as close as possible to Orlai and her clutch without alerting the golden flitter. The closer they could get to her and her brood before using the meat that Hinuk desperately hoped would distract the queen the better. They were the first to arrive, with still enough time left as Thoran turned to watch Rukbat slowly sinking in the horizon. Pern’s sky was marred with gorgeous shades of orange and reds of the setting sun, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere… The unsuspecting world had no idea the Brat Pack was planning their biggest heist yet. Waiting for the others that would help distract the golden flitter, as well as snatch out some eggs, both boys sat close to the entrance of their passageway, the two pouches filled with raw meat, guts and blood tossed on the ground close by. It was a simple enough plan: get as close as possible, distract the gold with food, grab an egg in each hand and run like Thread and Holdless were chasing you until they managed to shake Orlai off their trail. Hinuk just hoped this simplicity worked to their advantage this time, he was well aware how much they all needed some form of success – and soon – after their last horrid failure on the Holdless invasion to Refuge Weyr. More than anything the blond hoped this worked; not for himself, for once, but for Thoran. Maybe a flitter egg would help him cope with his recent losses.

The message had been passed along to those who were on a need to know basis. She of course being one of them. Her parents were busy with the newest addition to the family, her baby sister Nedesha whose three month old baby cries were echoing off the walls of the main room of their home. Then there was Seledesh, acting the typical tyrant two turn old he was which occupied her older brother Ledesein. The other three were so caught up in either watching the trouble unfold or playing that no one took much notice when she quietly left the place, softly shutting the door behind her. Out of the mad house and into the flitters den, as it were. She had left prepared. The sack on her back carried meat rolls from the kitchens and clean cloth stolen from the laundry. She had had to employ her old, I stained my favorite dress line, which had somehow worked. She hated dresses and never wore them unless she had to. Her brother’s hand me down pants and a white tunic did the job for her. When she arrived, Seirsha noted Hinuk and Thoran were there but everyone else had yet to arrive. Sometimes people had to get creative to get away from their family. It was never like that for her. Being the second oldest of seven children she had little in the way of supervision. Even her older brother had given up on keeping tabs on her. Free reign meant Seirsha put her brilliant mind to work making trouble. “Betting are we Arrow, Dash?” She said quietly. Shaking her head she changed topics as quickly as a new thought entered her brain. “I have meat-rolls, cloths to wrap the eggs in to keep them from being cold, oh and a bunch of dead tunnel snakes to show Emera.” She smiled broadly. Did she ever forget things when it was important? Nope! Now they had to wait for the others to arrive, particularly Flitter, Fiddle, Silver-tongue and Mirage. “Anyone else show up yet?” She wondered out loud because she was used to being one of the first but sometimes people got there early and waited. Either of the boys could have sent another Pack member on a mission.

Ever since the attack from the Holdless, Karevel had seen little of the other members of the Brat Pack. She was used to times when they weren't all together doing things, although she did have to wonder what they were up too next, and she was certain that someone had a plan for something, as they always did. She might not come up with plans for things, but then, she was younger than many of the others, and not as giving to thinking those kinds of things through. She was quite content to let them think something up so she could join in it later, although she did have to wonder what "it" would be. As long as it was exciting, though, it didn't really matter. Just something that could get her mind off of other things and onto something solid and fun.
It was some time later, after Orlai had clutched on the sands, that the message came around of an egg heist. Now, they'd done a lot of things, but that in particular sounded like it would be fun. Karevel had never tried snatching flitter eggs from their mother before, but it would probably be an interesting experience. She had to wonder if Orlai was going to try to attack them really badly. Since she'd never done anything of the sort before, she had no way of knowing. Well, there was a first time for everything. Still, there was some wait to be had before they could go off on this mission, although it had been stuck in Karevel's thoughts for some time.
Still, when the time came, she did what she could to slip out, which was relatively easy for her, and scuttle away towards the heated sands. The other's were likely to be there. Not all of them, perhaps, but at least a few. Karevel could get somewhere fast when she decided to leave and go there, but she didn't often keep good track of the time, and consequently left late enough that someone else could get there earlier, even if took them a longer time to go to the place.
The heat hit her rather quickly as she made her way over. For some reason, the place was always heated, even when it didn't necessarily need to be. Karevel wasn't sure why. Maybe no one could find out how to unheat the sand, or maybe they just didn't particularly care. Either way, it was rather hot. Not that this worried her too much. She could hear the voices of some of the others. Who was there? Only one way to find out.
Just three so far. Karevel had actually managed to beat most of them. How exciting! Of course, this whole egg heist thing was going to be exciting in itself. She certainly hoped she got to do something important for it. "I'm here, I'm here!" she called when she heard Seirsha ask, missing the fact that the question hadn't exactly been poised at her. Karevel was far too excited to think of such things as that. She was often exciting, and now was no exception. Now that she was there, she ought to find out just what she could do to help. But she knew what she wanted to do. "Hey Arrow, can I pick an egg out for myself? Can I? Can I?" This was going to be interesting in itself, and Karevel couldn't think of something she'd rather do than find one she liked. And then maybe she could keep the firelizard inside it and train it and such. The difficulties with picking and choosing, of course, never crossed her mind.

The easily distracted Fiddle had almost forgotten that tonight was the night of the heist. It was just by luck that he had heard his brother asking his father about future clutches from the Weyr's two new gold dragons. Gibbon had dashed out of there, yelling something about a forgotten lesson in whatever he was obsessed with for the week. His family was use to his forgetful ways and paid little attention to his antics, only his mother reminded him not to stay out too late.
The boy ran through the Weyr, finding one of his little hiding spots and pulling out the pouch full of dried meat. He munched on a piece of the jerky as he continued running around, calming down a little only when he got near the secret passage that they were meeting in. He whistled a bit as he tried to look like a good and innocent weyrbrat while he made sure the hall was empty before he slipped into their secret passage and quickly caught up with the others that were there. "I'm here! I'm here! I'm not late am I?"
Fiddle looked around and let out a sigh of relief. Only four of the others were here so far so there was no way he could be late. Unless they had already nabbed the eggs and some had gone their separate ways already. But no, there was still too much nervous energy coming off of his friends for that to have happened. He may have been a little late but he hadn't missed their biggest mission yet. "Ohoh guys, guys! I have the best idea for this! We'll have to go get some rope and Glow will need to go get Mama Cat and we miiiight need to go get a runner and set it lose in the Weyr but otherwise the plan is perfect!"

”You know how we are, Seirsha. Besides, it’s all in good fun.”The blond gave a charming smile as he watched the first to arrive after him and his second in command, both boys standing and greeting her with a kiss on the cheek – on account their hands were still covered with guts and blood from the raw wherry meat they had pilfered before heading to the entrance of their secret passage. At her mention of cloths they both perked up, but while Thoran took the more gentleman approach of verbally asking Hinuk just did his own thing. ”Hey, Seirsha, mind if we borrow one o—“ “Oh good, clean cloths, I’m dying to get this stuff off my hands already.” “… You really need more manners, man.” “Nah, I’m perfect like this; besides, Seirsha’s one of us anyways. You know she hates being treated like a sissy, proper girl anyways.”Bring the quick person he was Arrow had already managed to snatch one of the cloths away, wiping his hands as clean as he could with it before offering it to Thoran. The dark skinned boy simply rolled his eyes, taking the offered and now stained piece and also cleaning his hands – before tossing it right back to Hinuk. ”Here, you can use it for your egg then.” “Yeah, yeah…”The blood stained cloth was tossed back at Hinuk by Thoran, the blond catching it in time before sticking his tongue out in playful banter with his best friend. As Seirsha went on to explain she had indeed not forgotten the dead tunnelsnakes, though both boys weren’t exactly sure about what the blond girl planned on doing with them, Thoran couldn’t help but grin lightly at the excitement that radiated from her. She wasn’t nicknamed Glow for nothing that was for sure. ”Unfortunately no, Seirsha; aside from us no one else has arrived.”While the others weren’t still technically late it was something that bothered the blond somewhat – seven missing brat pack members were bound to be noticed to be missing soon enough; especially given their lack of pranks in the past sevendays. Emera was probably already on her toes as it was, and the longer they spent waiting out here the higher the chance for someone else to come across them. They needed the element of surprise for this heist, no soon that they tried to grab those eggs that damn gold flitter was probably going to alert half the Weyr – both thanks to her communication with the Headwoman as well as her probably very loud shrieks that Hinuk was sure that beast was going to let loose. Thankfully Faranth seemed to be on their side, at least for now, for soon Flitter and Fiddle had each made their separate entrances. As it was this really wasn’t a bad turn out, only Silver-tongue and Mirage were still missing. One of the youngest of the pack Flitter was soon asking question, clearly barely unable to contain her excitement, and Thoran already knowing how Hinuk didn’t liked handling such situations (the blond really had a short fuse) it was the dark skinned lad who moved over to Karavel as she grinned with excitement, offering to answer her answer in a more delicate and considerate manner. Left to Hinuk he’d probably just said no and shrugged it off, instead of explaining to the poor girl everything. ”Well Flitter, Orlai’s probably not going to be very happy to see us. Mommy flitters are very protective of their clutches, especially Golds. So we’re really going to need to be really quick and grab one or two eggs before rushing back out and trying to shake her off – which means we can’t waste time picking a pretty egg. Being Emera’s flitter I’m quite sure that thing’s going to try and claw us to death…”While he doubted the flitter could hurt any of them too terribly they still had quite the nasty sharp set of teeth and claws, and Thoran didn’t really like getting clawed by crazy-ass creatures trying to protect their brood. He was pretty sure everyone else shared his feelings in that matter. Behind Dash the blond nodded his head to confirm that his second-in-command indeed had a point, before Arrow turned to look as Fiddle arrived. A grin spread through his features before he walked over to meet the lad, offering a fist bump in greetings before listening to his amusing ramblings. ”Oh really, letting runners loose in the Weyr? That doesn’t sound like a half bad idea, Fiddle…”The thought was crazy, yes, but crazy in an amusing sort of way. If anything it deserved some exploration – perhaps if they were successful in getting some eggs they could head to the pens and let loose a few of the dragon fodder. Surely a stampede of herdbeast would be enough of a distraction for the Brat Pack to get away long enough so they could distribute their stolen goods and hide them well enough. Hinuk just hoped those eggs were indeed close enough to hatching – the less of a wait they had before them the better the chances of not being found out first and actually being able to impress themselves upon the flitters once they finally did hatch. ”Alright guys, listen up.” It was time to get this sow on the road Arrow decided, taking a moment so the others made a circle around him before proceeding. ”As you all know we’ll be trying the Brat Pack’s first official heist, our goal being those hardened firelizard eggs Orlai is so carefully guarding. Now, we’ve all brought some form of food or another – we’ll be using it as a distraction. That gold’s been there for plenty of sevendays now, and while I’m sure Emera feeds her from time to time this is dinner time, so her stomach must be dying for some fresh food. We’re going to try and overwhelm her with as much food as we can before making a dash for her brood. I want you to grab the first egg you see – bonus points if you can grab one on each hand for a total of two. After that we need to high-tail it out of there as fast as possible… And you know what, I think a herdbeast stampede might be just what we need to actually pull this off successfully…”At the last comment he turned to look at both Thoran and Seirsha to see their thoughts on this new idea for a distraction, the dark skinned lad blinking with a blank expression a few times before scratching the back of his head. He turned his gaze over to Glow as well, not really sure. Yes, the herdbeast sounded like an interesting proposition, but he really had no idea what Seirsha actually planned on doing. He was hoping she’d notice and explain, before they could finally come to a consensus on what the distraction plan would officially be.

She shook her head at the boys, watching as they cleaned themselves off. What would they do without her? Luckily she had remembered several cloths and could probably afford to not use that one. “What did you do slaughter the beast yourselves?” She asked wondering how they had managed to get that bloody. The idea of blood, let a thought flitter through her mind having to do with Evelys which she quickly brushed aside. Eventually she would no longer associate blood on the Hatching Sands with the death of her friend. For now though, she could not help it.
Glow smiled to see the young Brat join them next. Flitter was a good girl, perfect for a heist of this magnitude. “Here you go Flitter.” She handed the girl a clean warm cloth. For when you get an egg but as Arrow and Dash said, we must be quick. I’ll distract the Headwoman as long as I can.” She said looking at the smaller girl doubtfully. She probably could not run as fast as the boys but maybe her being so small, she could dodge the attacking Gold better.
It was not long after that Fiddler showed himself. About time too, she thought. Not a bad number. Five would be a good amount. The alteration to the plan was something she would hear out. No plans were ever perfect or ever executed perfectly. The thoughts flying through her mind were mostly focusing on timing. The plan could work but in order for the altered plan to do so someone would have to forgo taking eggs and let the beasts out.
“It could work if someone wanted to run down there now and let them out. Fiddle could do the honors, Arrow and Dash would each have to grab two eggs then and Flitter you need to grab one. I’ll distract the Gold and the Headwoman until news of the Stampede comes. Then we should be able to escape into our secret passage... Good thinking Fiddle. Course, Dash is fastest. Maybe it would be better if you ran down Dash. Fiddle could grab my egg and his, Arrow could grab yours and his own and then Flitter would only be responsible for snatching an egg for herself. It is up to you guys, either way we can make it work.” Glow was still thinking, working out the kinks in her head. Whoever went down to the Beast area would have to be quick and sneaky so as not to get caught.

It was not simply four of them for long; Fiddle soon arrived as well, and Karevel was naturally glad that he was there too. Perhaps they had enough people to do something now? She would absolutely love to snatch up an egg for herself. She'd been named after firelizards, but she would love to actually have one. Emera wasn't likely to let them near when the eggs hatched, so they would have to steal some, now wouldn't they? It was going to be worth it. And to have one to herself would be great. Karevel didn't know how to take care of a firelizard but it couldn't really be that difficult, could it? They were like dragons, really, so it would probably be something like being a weyrling, only simpler.
She was disappointed when Dash said she couldn't waste her time picking out an egg. She didn't really want to just grab want, but if that's what they wanted... "Okay Dash. I can just grab one." She was still smiling. Nothing really could have upset her at this point. The whole thing was just too exciting, and when Karevel got excited, keeping still became difficult.
"Thanks Seirsha," she said when the older girl handed her a cloth to put her egg in. Even if she wasn't going to have time to look at them all, she would still get to grab one. But how could she pick out the perfect one for herself is he just had to dash and run? Bother, but it seemingly couldn't be helped. Having a firelizard, any and all, was better than having none, she supposed, even if picking out the perfect one was preferable. Maybe she'd have time anyways, if Orlai and Emera were both busy with something else. She would love to get the right one.
Karevel was happy to leave the planning to the rest. Simply grabbing her own egg was good enough for her. She didn't want to try and grab one for someone else and then maybe drop it. Best to let the others handle two, and only worry about her own. Nor did she want to let lose a bunch of runners and miss out on stealing one of the eggs. This plan worked out for her, although most anything would have. She just wanted to get down to the part of it that involved running out and stealing from the Headwoman. They weren't to that part yet, but when they were, she was really going to enjoy it.

Megdela arrived quietly from out of no where . She had slipped out long before the others she even aquired some fresh meat from the kitchens and scouted ahead to see if there would be anything to put a damper on the plan. "I'm here, I'm here sorry i'm late. It looks like its safe up ahead. " Mirage smiled cutely. "I Made sure the path was clear no one is out and about just like you figured. " She was not nervous at all. while she was one of the younger of the bratpack her talent for being quite invisible came in handy more times then not.
"What do you want me to do?" She asked she was really excited this was like a perfect game for her and the prize was even better firelizards. She looked from one to the other wondering what each of them were thinking as the time to take the eggs came closer and closer. She already knew that she could get quite close to the area without being seen which is why she scouted the path ahead of them already. It looked no one was around the eggs either off at dinner with the others or possibly heading down or even with their respected families.
Mirage pulled out the small bag of meat she pilfered it was fresh but not bloody like what the boys got. "I hope i got enough i was worried about takeing to much and getting it noticed. "

Fiddle’s jaw dropped. For once one of his ideas was useful! Well half of it was useful. That was better then nothing at least. And they wanted him to go release the runners! But if he did that he wouldn’t be able to get his own egg… He chewed on his lip as he thought about it before Glow suggested Dash might be the better choice for it. Gibbon nodded his head quickly and pointed at Thoran. “Yeah! Dash! You go let the runners out. You’re waaaay faster then me. And don’t worry I’ll get a good egg for you.” He grinned and nodded at the boy, giving him a thumbs up as well just to help make sure things went his way. As cool as starting a runner stamped would be, stealing flitter eggs was a once in a life time sort of thing. And once in a life time things always made good songs. Maybe when he had his very own fire lizard he’d have to tell his uncle about this heist and see if the old man could write a good song about it. And then he could write an even better song on his own.
Fiddle shook his head a bit as he tried to keep his mind on the task at hand. He gave Mirage a slightly confused look, having missed her even joining up with them then shrugged and assumed he had just missed her when he had first shown up. “Come oooon lets hurry up so we can do this! I want an egg. Or two. Any chance I can get three you think?”

“What did you do slaughter the beast yourselves?””Why of course, I simply enjoy gutting out creatures with my bare hands Glow.”While the comment held a sarcastic tone the smirk on the blonde’s face gave off he only meant to tease the girl, not outright try to insult her in some way or form. It was good wherries and other pernese creatures all shared their ichor based blood, the (rather disgusting really) green color helping for neither boy to make the connection with the event still tender from a few months ago. Or at least Thoran hadn’t, luckily, while Hinuk had simply shrugged it back to the depths of his mind. He was the leader, here they were planning their biggest plot yet – he could not allow himself to lose focus and lead them to failure. They all needed this, they needed a win for once, and the young boy was heavily aware of that fact. The now green stained towel was discarded soon as the girl mentioned having more than enough extras, Thoran rolling his eyes as he caught it before it landed on the ground. Why be wasteful, after all, they were still usable even if a little bit stained. Then came the discussing of the plan for distracting the Weyr along with Mirages appearance at last, Arrow concentrating greatly as he weighted around the various choices. It was true that Fiddler knew his way around the Weyr just as good as either him or Thoran – but the boy had a knack for getting sidetracked, and sometimes even going a bit too over the top. And in a race Dash had no equal, even Hinuk had to admit defeat when it came to matching his speed with the dark skinned lad. ”Alright then, it’s decided. Me and Fiddle will grab two eggs each. Mirage and Flitter, you each grab one, but don’t think about which – just grab and go.” He made sure to look at both young girls directly, his blue eyes steeled with command to show he meant business. If they wanted to get firelizards they would have to act quick and efficiently, this was no time to start getting girly and worry over silly stuff like the “perfect” egg and such. His gaze turned back to Glow, nodding at the girl in signal. She already knew what her job was, no need to repeat it. Come to think of it, he realized, Glow usually was good not only at making plans but also keeping up with changes – something the male mulled around inside his head for a bit. With Evelys gone, elevating Thoran to be his second in command now, the blond would need to replace that empty slot soon (as much as the thought pained him, though probably more to Thoran). Glow, he realized, seemed like a good candidate for the spot – though it was something he would have to consider at a later time. Right now they had a flitter heist to get to. ”Alright then, I’m off. I’ll have those herdbeast rattled up and stampeding faster than a dragonpair going between.”While he’d left his sack of meat behind, Hinuk and the others could put it to better use than he would right now, Thoran made sure to quickly dab the two towels now in his possession into them quick. He stained the fabric as much as possible with the ichor and some remnants of the guts; hoping the scent would impregnate itself to the fabric strongly enough. Surely it’s be a good idea, perhaps the scent would kick in the natural defense instinct of the herdbeast and cut him the trouble of figuring out how to make them stampede. With a wink after he handed Hinuk both sacks of food the boy was off, quite literally, in a dash. ”Alright, we’ll count to ten and then go in. Everyone get ready…” He waited the allotted time, the pens were not far away from their place and Hinuk was sure Thoran could make the distance quickly. Instead he used it to lead the party through their secret passage and into the sands, getting as close as possible within the time limit he had set as quietly as they could to their goal. If all went well the stampede would be begin just as they were mid-way of swarming Orlai and her clutch. ”… Alright, now!”The time up the blond gave the signal, making sure to loosen the top of both bags of wherry carnage he carried before leading in the charge. Screw subtlety, really, he was sure Orlai would be on to them in no time with all the various food they were carrying. No sooner he saw the gold firelizard close enough the boy took a fistful of the meat and organs, flinging them in a direction not too far from the clutch but not too close either. He hoped the gold took the bait, that she went for the food they were tossing, though Hinuk was ready to empty one of the bags right there and then in the sands if needed and trying to trap the gold inside if it came down to that. ”Quick, move it! If she comes at you use your arms as a shield and keep going!”No need for someone to get an eye clawed out, after all. * * * Dash ran with all his might, the gleam in Hinuk’s eyes betraying the boy’s excitement. He knew the lad well, very well, and just as he had started off towards the pen the shuffling of feet had signaled Arrow had already gotten everyone else on the move and getting into positions. ”Damn, at least gimme some time to get there man!” The thought was natural, though the smirk in the dark haired lad’s features clearly showed he was having quite the bit of fun. Adrenaline was beginning to run high in his system at the excitement, he could barely contain it as he watched the pens come into view. Finally reaching them Thoran’s stop was colliding with the main gate as he jumped at it, clinging on to it as he fumbled with the lock to release it with a bit more noise that he had hoped. Still soon the obstacle was open, and landing on the ground the boy pulled at it hard to open the gates for the herdbeast. And the damn things did nothing. With an exasperated sigh and a groan the boy smacked his face with one of his palms, watching the animals lying on the ground, some still grazing, but otherwise seemingly not too interest that the pen was open. For all they cared the gate could be shut still, really. Scoffing he tightened his grip on one of the towels, rolling it up to a ball before flinging it at the nearest best – a cow and her calf. The thing landed on the muzzle of the bigger creature, taking a few seconds for her brain to register the scent upon it, before she let out a slightly alarmed bellow and scattered to her feet. Still, no soon the towel fell off the creature seemed to calm once more, even if the calf next to her paced around nervously as it made some alarmed noise or another. Thoran was just about to kick the bovine, and really he was already half way there as he entered the pens in the direction of the damn creature, in hopes of maybe finally seeing it actually move – when the loud snort from not too far away caught his attention. Not far off one of the larger bulls in the pen was standing, one of the front hooves stomping against the ground before scratching at it. ”What th—Oh, bullshit!” It seemed that out of all the cows Thoran had chosen the bull’s favorite to annoy and approach, and the male of the species had decided to take it on his hooves (and horns) to get this pesky nuisance far away of his property and territory. With a low below the thing suddenly started charging, the adrenaline rush surging into the boy once more (this time of fear rather than excitement) made Dash act rashly. Instead of running out of the pens he ran further into them, realizing his mistake half way as he came across more of the beasts in his way. And that damn bull was coming in fast… ”For Faranth’s sake, charge the other way! The other way you dumb beast!!!”Shards, shards, shards! He really did not want to get impaled by that thing!

Megdela Nodded her head softly as she quietly listened to the leaders instructions to grab the nearest egg and run like the wind. She knew that this was gonna be a bit dangerous specially if the mother who was guarding the nest didn't take the bait. She knew that they would have to work quickly and she had already went over the planned rote over and over again in her head . Mirage moved quickly and lightly over the sand as she followed the command to move it. She remember to keep her eyes on the prize. She would grab one the ones on the edge of the nest before sprinting away as fast as she could.

The eye roll he got for his smart ass remark was as good as he would get from her right now. Boys. She expected them to be jerks, it was hard wired into their brains as far as she could see. Although Fiddle seemed a little less so at times. Then again he was not as bossy as Hinuk. She didn't need a boss, she joined the group because she wanted to be part of something fun and her rise to be one of the more prominent members was largely due to her usefulness. Seirsha already saw the two younger girls thinking about how they were going to pick their eggs. No matter what Hinuk said they seemed determined to at least look around before picking one up. When the time came and they either had to pick whatever was in reach or leave without one, they would pick one up. For now though, why ruin their day dreams? She couldn't care what color firelizard she had, having one would elevate her status among the other Brats of the weyr. How many kids had firelizards here? Approximately zero. Her cool meter was about to explode. While the others took the passage to the Sands, Seirsha waved and went her separate way. She had to enter the Sands appropriately. The pack on her back was light and did not smell. There was no time to waste. As planned, Emera was on the Sands. Seirsha took a moment to rub her eyes until they were red with irritation. Then she began piteously calling for her tunnel cat. "Momma Cat! Momma Cat! Where are you?!" She walked onto the Sands as if she did not see the Headwoman, at first. "Headwoman, have you per chance seen a white tunnel cat hunting around here. She's been killing all the tunnel snakes in the area, making sure the Sands are safe for Orlai's clutch and now I can't find her. You don't think one of the snakes bit her and ate her do you?" At the end of the sentence her mouth began to pout and tears began to well in her innocently large, blue eyes. The commotion on the Sands was about to start if Seirsha knew anything about timing, but Emera was distracted enough not to see the others coming onto the Sands from the secret passage. At least that was her hope and they had nothing if not hope at this point. Please let Dash make it to those pens on time! --- Aren't you forgetting something? What?Your younglings...Was tonight my night?!Yes. Hinuk's foster parents reminded you yesterday remember? You are right. Of course. I'll go get them now. All these flights you have me attending have me mixing up my days. You are feeling very good though... The Bronze added with a smugness only a Bronze could get away with. The laughter of the Bronzerider was hearty and happy indeed. As long as there are women in the Weyr I doubt I'll ever be lonely long. He said honestly. If only modesty were one of his qualities. Check in on the boys for me so I can go get them for the night. I swear Thoran gets no sleep except when he is with you.The Bronze, gently touched Hinuk's mind but said nothing to the lad. He was in the Hatching Caverns...up to no good. Your son is about to do something bad in the Hatching Caverns. Big surprise there. Thoran is not with him. Now that was unexpected. Where is he? Since Thoran lost his father D'seus felt increasingly responsible for the boy. Even though Hinuk and Thoran were not biologically brothers, in D'seus' mind there were no siblings closer than the two boys were with one another. He honored the relationship in the way most Weyrbred should, the Weyr in its entirety was a family. Mine! Thoran is in trouble! The dragon launched from his ledge immediately. What he climbed a tree too tall to get down from? He's in the Herdbeast breeding pen. the dragon explained. Scorch it!The dragonrider left his weyr and began to run. I'll help Thoran. You should find out what Hinuk is up to before he nearly kills himself too. Zorometh's mental comment was that none of HIS children were this much trouble. Before the Bull could attack Thoran, the Bronze flew down and scared him off and unfortunately scared every herdbeast in sight. They broke down the fence and began to run which could also be bad for Thoran. With his foot outstretched towards the boy he hovered over him. Hopefully the boy would have the sense Faranth gave him and grab hold before he was trampled.

Gibbon bounced on his toes a bit, excited as it was finalized who would be doing what. Two eggs. That would be easy. For a moment the Brat entertained the idea of grabbing three, maybe he could Impress two flitters then! But no, he should get greedy. And he didn’t want to think of what would happen if he dropped one of the eggs. Emera was going to be mad enough at them stealing the eggs, he didn’t want to think of just how steamed she would be if something bad happened to the eggs. And of course there was what that gold flying rat would do to him. Yeaaaah two eggs would be good enough now that he thought about it. Following the rest through the tunnels, Gibbon stayed quiet. Even he knew that making too much noise right now could end this heist before it even got started. He waited for the signal before tossing his meat in the same general direction as Hinuk did. He paused for a moment, just to make sure that Orlai was going to take the bait, before he dashed towards the eggs. He grabbed two of them, one of the middle of the clutch and one on the edge before he pulled a quick turn and made a mad rush towards the cave again, shrieking as the gold fire lizard swiped at him before she went to harass the others. Once he was safely in the tunnel, he took the cloth that Seirsha had brought with her and carefully wrapped the two eggs up.
Emera knew that some of the Weyrbrats were up to something. For one, it had been far too long since they had caused problems. And any time she went more then a week without dragging one of the so-called Brat Pack kids to their caretakers for one reason or another could only mean trouble. For some reason they thought if they were well behaved for a week that she would forget about them. For another, tonight Emera just had that feeling. Someone was about to start some trouble, she could feel it in her bones. She tried to keep it to herself, knowing that Orlai was stressed out enough as it was. Her eggs were getting close to hatching and Orlai knew just as much as Emera that the Pack was going to try some kind of mischief. After making sure no monkey business was going on in the Hall, Emera made her way to the sands to check on her fire lizard. She had brought a little something for Orlai as well, knowing that the normally piggy flitter had rarely left the sands since her clutch had been laid. The Headwoman only made it half way there though before she heard Seirsha calling at for her cat. The elder woman turned to watch the young girl walk out on the sands, too preoccupied with her missing cat to notice that she wasn’t alone. “Hello Seirsha. And no, I’m afrid I haven’t seen your cat around here.” A slight frown touched Emera’s lips as the girl’s lip started to quiver. Letting out a soft sigh, the Headwoman went over to Seirsha and gently placed an arm on her shoulder. “I’m sure Mama Cat is just fine, if she’s been able to keep the sands clear of tunnel snakes then she must be an expert hunter. Why don’t you go check in the kitchens? Maybe Mama Cat just wanted to try a new hunting place for the day?” Emera was quick to realize that Seirsha simply wasn’t going to leave unless she got help looking for her pet. A slight frown formed on Emera’s lips as she looked the girl over before glancing around the sands. The sands were quiet and empty, and it would be rather difficult for a horde of young children to get in here without the guards or anyone else to spot them and put a stop to their plans. Though she was still a bit weary, Emera gave Seirsha a little nudge to the entrance and agreed to help her look for her cat. The pair only made it halfway down the hall before Emera came to a dead stop. She whipped around back towards the sands, taking a few steps before she stopped again and pinched the bridge of her nose. Orlai was suddenly going crazy in the sands but more importantly a handful of dragons were suddenly informing her that there seemed to be some sort of stampede going on. Taking a deep breath, Emera turned back around and only spared Seirsha a glance as she passed the girl. “I suggest you tell the rest of your little gang that they had better be scarce for the next few days…”
The moment the Headwoman left the sands, Hinuk started his plan and the meat started flying. The gold fire lizard perked up, catching the sent of the raw meat. She rose off her clutch, puffing her chest out and stretching her wings out their full length as she tried to scare the Brats off. But even they could tell Orlai was distracted by the food and quickly growing more interested in that then in a handful of kids. Still, the fire lizard hesitated for a moment before she gave her wings a few hard flaps and glided towards the food. She swallowed down chucks of meat fast enough to put a newly hatched dragon to shame. But the moment a hand touched her eggs, Orlai’s head whipped around and she let out a loud angry scream. It took her longer to get airborne though, her meal had not only distracted her but she had weighted herself down with all that she had eaten. It wasn’t much but by the time she got herself in the air, the Brat Pack was already half way back to their hidden passage. Shrieking and screaming at the kids, the gold started to dive bomb them, scratching and clawing at them. She left a few good scratches on some of them and came away with a hunk of blond hair but none of it was enough to stop the kids from making their escape. Letting out one last shriek of defeat, Orlai was forced to return to what was left of her clutch, curling herself tightly around the eggs.
Once the Brat Pack were safe from the angry Mama Lizard, they took the chance to see what eggs they had managed to get away with. Karavel held the small Clover Egg in her hands while Megdela had made out with the Dragon Fly Egg. Gibbon found himself holding the Coin Egg in one hand and the Black Cat Egg in the other. Hinuk had gotten away with the Evil Eye Egg and the Starry Night Egg.

Mirage held her egg close and tightly against her wrapping it in the warm cloth to keep it warm. She looked at the egg and smiled even though she had to grab the nearest and take off she still manage to get one that looked pretty. Even though she didn't take the time to look them over course she was happy just to have gotten one. She looked over at the others to see if anyone got hurt.
She has a soft smile on her lips they actually did it they pulled off the greatest theft ever and no one got caught either as far as she knew. Course the only questions that remained was. When the others were gonna meet up with them and where they were gonna keep the eggs till they hatched?

Oh Faranth, he was a goner. He was so sharding gone right there and there. The dark skinned lad had managed to corral himself into one of the far corners of the breeding pen as he’d been trying to (unsuccessfully) outrun the scorching bull. Seriously, he could have sworn that thing was breathing fire out of its nose, did they feed them firestones or something around here?! Backed into the corner, and scared shitless, he’d done the only sensible thing: crouch down and hope to the first gold dragon that thing absolutely missed him, somehow. Boy was he glad to see that big hulk of a bronze’s front claws. Thoran wasted no time, grabbing onto the extended appendage for dear life as he put his Brat Pack sills to good use. He wasn’t just a good sprinter, he was also a damn good climber and he showed it right there. Making swift work of climbing up Thoran was well around Zorometh’s elbow when he spotted the weyrbrats sneaking out the general direction of their secret passage – as well as the stampeding group of herdbeasts suddenly heading for various areas of the weyr. ”Whoa… Sweet.”Perhaps it was the view, being hovering in the air in Zorometh’s limb, but the dark skinned lad couldn’t help but be rather mesmerized by it all. The Brat Pack could really accomplish things in a grand manner when they really wanted. Turning his eyes skyward he looked in the direction of the bronze, dragon, giving a big smile as he wiped away faint tears from the previous shock. ”Thanks Zoro, I really owe you one huh?”He’d be sure to give the bronze a very good scrub next time they were helping D’seus wash his hide. * * * For a moment he had thought the food would not work, but soon the gold’s hunger overrode her instincts as she dived for the fresh cuts. The greedy thing had almost inhaled half of the meat already before the brats finally managed to get to the eggs – but no soon their fingers touched rough shells that golden menace was screaming and diving for them with all she was worth. ”Quick, scram before Emera gets back!”He was quick to give commands, conscious that Emera was probably alert right there and then of their antics thanks to Orlai, and he really wanted all of them out of there – who knew until when Seirsha could keep Emera busy (the old hag wasn’t stupid after all) and he really hoped their last minute idea to throw a herdbeast stampede actually worked in their favor. His hand grabbed two eggs near the middle of the clutch, the second largest Starry Night Egg along with the Evil Eye Egg, before making a mad dash for the exit. ”Scorch off, you broody thing!”As the gold dove for his head, managing to tear a few chunks of his golden hair, Hinuk managed to wave her off once he’d shifted the Evil Eye Egg into his left hand along with the Starry Night Egg. Finally they were out of the Hatching Sands and off the secret passage, in the distance the trampling of the herdbeast being an echo of sweet victory in his ears. He’d turned in the general direction, wanting to get a better look, when the unbalanced left hand holding both eggs (along with Thoran’s sack of meat slung to his shoulder) the rather oddly round Evil Eye Egg suddenly rolled off and right into the ground with a rather gut wrenching crack! ”Thora—Oh, shards!!!”Seeing the bronze hovering over the pens Hinuk had gotten alarm, he knew D’seus bronze well enough to know he’d never actively aid them in any of their pranks, -- so his first instinct was to think something had gone wrong. He’d already lost Evelys in a poorly planned mission, the last thing he needed was losing his best friend over a bunch of dumb herdbeasts. Still, no soon he’s spotted a shape climbing up the dragon’s forearm Hinuk had allowed his muscles to relax, which had been the chance that damn weird egg had taken to roll off and into the ground. Swearing loudly Hinuk kneeled to look at the cracked egg before him, cursing once more as he shifted the other egg into one of the towels (and placed it safely next to him) before passing his hands through his hair in frustration. Well, apparently he was without an egg now – and going back in there was out of the question. With a snort of frustration Hinuk poked the large and still un-cracked area of the egg, though the goo oozing out at the bottom already told him to expect the worse. The meat sack, still half way full, was slung to the ground opposite to the side of Thoran’s egg. ”Stupid round egg…”
