Recuperating was a lot harder than he had originally thought it would be. Rath was watching exactly how much fellis he took to numb the pain too. Dragon must have been a healer in another life, thought the young rider. Maybe he had been? His brown eyes glanced over at the Bronze. He lay on his couch eyes never leaving his rider. “Go and eat. You are hungry.” The Bronze would not leave him on his own. Or’yn knew that but the dragon had needs too!
“Well then have someone come and keep an eye on me till you are done eating and stretching your wings.” Rath would be more than happy to comply. He was informed by Shivath that Aisynn was working in the infirmary and could not leave at the moment. Whom else could he trust to watch over Or’yn right now? B’ren would likely ladle the fellis down the young man’s throat. The leaders were all busy. Maybe… no, he’d be getting them into too much trouble. Distance would be better for them right now. What choice did the Bronze have though?
Elynth? The Bronze asked to see if she was awake. Hope you are well this morning? He inquired because it was his duty and because he did want to know that she was well. The attack seemed to have shaken up many of the Weyrlings. Though Elynth had certainly proven she could keep her cool in dangerous situations. Is Marlaey busy? He wanted to be polite as possible.
Or’yn did not know who was coming because his dragon had only mentioned that Aisynn was busy. Too busy for her own brother? When he asked about B’ren the dragon snorted. Clearly Rath had some trust issues there which Or’yn felt was completely unfounded. Who else could they really call on? The dragon informed him he would just have to wait till people weren’t so busy.

Elynth was being oiled when Rath bespoke her. She was pleased to hear from him and felt no need to hide the fact. Good morning Rath, I am well, as I hope you and Yours are. She turned to her rider who was just finished smoothing out the oil along her tail. MarlaeyLove, Rath calls for you, he asks if you are busy this morning. Blinking in surprise at the bronze's question Marlaey shook her head, "No, I have nothing planned for today, is everything all right?"
She washed her hands and changed into some cleaner clothes while Elynth conversed with Rath, asking how they could be of service. The young goldrider wondered why Rath needed her. Was it something to do with Or'yn? The fight had really taken it out of him and she had hoped he was recovering well, but she hadn't had a chance to visit him yet. The weyrlings were all being treated for something, shock among other things. After the heated battle they were only now beginning to feel the effects of what had happened.
She and Elynth had been asked to use their status to help calm the young dragons down and in turn sooth their riders. Elynth was a natural leader and Marlaey was starting to feel more comfortable in the role now that they had successfully faced a threat and survived.
Elynth stretched her wings and yawned. I suspect we shall be keeping a certain bronzerider company today, she commented. Marlaey bit back a smile and tied the laces on her boots.

Or’yn’s head ached despite the use of the Fellis and he was propped up in his bed, in front a large number of pillows. With nothing to do but read and stare at the walls he was completely bored. The only piece of entertainment he had was teasing Rath. He could take more fellis and then be knocked out but Rath did not like the stuff or how he acted when he had too much of it. Course the best thing about his head aching was that he couldn’t feel the stitched wound on his left arm.
I am very well. Or’yn is better but not well yet.Rath spoke honestly. His had some improving to do before he could use the word well. The Bronze was all propriety and manners but he knew better than to believe his rider would believe him so he refrained from mentioning his conversation with Elynth.
Rath being busy in conversation left Or’yn to his own thoughts. Elynth’s happy and pleasant greeting pleased the Bronze more than he would dare to admit, even to himself. It is good to hear you happy and safe. The Bronze said, for he had been worried about the young Gold. It was the only reason he had agreed to take Or’yn to the Barracks instead of to his post.
She is free? Would she mind helping? Or’yn is on bed rest. He has to be watched. I need to feed and stretch. Could she watch him, just for a little while? The Bronze explained the situation. It made sense to him to have her watch Or’yn. Not because he knew that they got along well but because he could trust her sense of judgment. The girl had a good head on her shoulders. She wouldn’t let Or’yn get into any trouble with that fellis.

He will be well soon then, Elynth said, knowing it to be true, And of course Mine would be more than happy to help, we will be with you in a moment.
Marlaey looked to her queen, "Well? What's going on?" Elynth started making her way to the door, Come on RiderMine, we re going to visit Rath's so the bronze can have some peace to eat! Marlaey jumped up off her bed, jogging after the young gold. "We are? Did he ask for us..?" She didn't want to sound too eager to see Or'yn, but there was hardly much point in trying to hide her feelings from Elynth. Thankfully the gold was tactful enough not to tease her this time round. Bronzeriders were as valuable to the weyr as goldriders were, well nearly, and Elynth was proud to help one out. That was the reason she mentally gave to Marlaey for their going.
Marlaey's mind was wandering as she walked. She wondered how Or'yn was feeling after his fight. He had been brave, braver than she felt she had been. What's more he could actually fight! Marlaey wanted to become an adept fighter, with swords, knifes, bare hands, anything! She didn't want to be the reason people got hurt because she couldn't defend herself. She should be able to do something more. The sparring lessons with the weyrlings weren't as detailed or informative as she wanted them to be, they were just drills really, but she wanted the real thing.
Maybe Or'yn would teach her?
As they approached his weyr, Elynth chirruped to the large bronze, May we come in?

The Bronze was relieved to say the least and was doing a great job of keeping his in the dark. Oh the surprise on his face when he saw whom Rath had invited to watch him. It would be classic! Thank you Elynth. No matter what he formerly thought of Golds she was changing that view. They were not all out for admiration and attention all the time. They did care about other dragons and riders and they could be very kind and not aloof. Elynth was much more personable than other Golds at least towards him she was.
Greetings. Come on in, Elynth. You may have my couch if you need a rest. It was quite the hike to the rider’s weyrs from the Bowl and the young Queen had already bathed. She was probably tired. Turning his head as the door began to open, Or’yn really didn’t believe that Elynth was coming into their weyr. Luckily he didn’t have any time to create the chaotic mess he usually did.
“Marlaey?” He asked, his dark eyes resting on his Bronze. Or’yn really couldn’t be mad at him but the Bronze had not told him she was coming. He had no time to prepare and…and…and he looked like crap! The Bronze’s mind tone was ambivalent. Your sister was busy I improvised. I’m going to eat and leave you in the capable hands of the Junior Weyrwoman. The title was almost a warning in itself though when did Or’yn really follow orders?
“Welcome. Sorry I can’t get up. If you need some water, there should be a pitcher on the table.” He smiled genuinely. It was nice to have someone visit other than Rath. Not that anyone else would have elicited as much excitement for him. He looked forward to their conversations more than she would or should know at this point. “How are you? How’s Elynth?”

Oh thank Rath, I might just take up that offer soon. She wasn't feeling overly tired yet but her meal and oiling had made her feel lovely and warm inside and out. But she wanted to listen to Marlaey and Or'yn for awhile before she considered taking a nap.
Marlaey smiled, a little more shyly than normal but barely noticeably so, "Hi Or'yn, we've come to keep you entertained!"
Elynth padded over to Rath and nosed him gently in greeting. She would have liked to spend more time with him, but he needed to eat and stretch his wings. She looked up at him, her eyes swirling bright greens and blues, Don't worry, he'll be fine, we won't bite. She chuckled in her own husky dragon way before returning to her rider's side.
"It's alright Or'yn, I've already had breakfast so I'll be fine for now. And you don't need to get up, I can seat myself just fine!" She laughed at his genuine struggle to appear acceptable. Obviously Rath hadn't informed him of their coming. She grinned up at the bronze, such a sly one! It relaxed her a little t know he hadn't been expecting her. Now she felt like a nice surprise!
"We're good," she said, "Just a little shaken up really. Well I am more than Elynth I think, she seems to be doing a lot better!" The golden dragon snorted and settled down into a comfortable position. "But how are you? You're the one who's been injured!"

Rath accepted the Gold’s greeting and nudged her gently in return. Thank you again Elynth. Don’t let him get you all into trouble. Elynth and Marleay weren’t likely to do anything to Or’yn but he could not trust the young man to behave most of the time. I mean that’s how they had gotten into this mess to begin with. I won’t be long. Take care mine. The Bronze commented to his rider who was now happily distracted.
Or’yn watched as his dragon who towered over the little Gold finally took off from the ledge. Eh, he would be fine and happy to feed. In fact he could feel the dragon ease a little as he went to hunt. “From what Rath told me, she did remarkably well during the attack.” Elynth had even given a speech to bolster the other Weyrlings as they fought which was admirable in a leader.
“It was pretty traumatic for most the Weyr. You’ll feel more normal in time. Besides now you know exactly what you are up against and who you are not up against. S’len and G’off did not leave with the Holdless. G’off seemed genuinely afraid for his life. So now you know that they aren’t a danger to you or Elynth.” Or at least that seemed to be the case.
“Oh you know me, I’ll be fine.” He grinned. Or’yn really never thought that the worst could happen. Not where it concerned his life. Honestly that Holdless could have killed him but it had not happened. Rath was level headed enough not to Between in confusion too which was more proof that good things happened if you believed they would.
“I’ve been cooped up here since I was discharged from the infirmary. Rath’s concern is how much Fellis I’m drinking. Time passes more quickly when you’re sleeping.” He laughed, despite the slight headache and how his arm hurt from the movement. Or’yn actually thought he felt a little better now that someone was there to keep his mind busy.

He'll be safe with us! Elynth chirped easily, knowing that Or'yn wouldn't do anything ridicuous around her rider. There was too much going on between them, meaning that right now there was nothing going on between them which was exactly the problem! Elynth was already quite in tune with Marlaey's feelings for the young bronzerider, but she was appreciative that nothing had happened yet, she wasn't sure she or her rider were ready.
But all that could be worked out later, right now they had to concentrate on keeping Or'yn entertained long enough to give Rath some peace.
Marlaey nodded at Or'yn's words, "I wasn't expecting her to speak to everyone like that, but I was very glad she did." The young queen lifted her head proudly. She was modest enough not to comment on how much it helped the other weyrlings. "It was a pretty terrifying experience to say the least, but you're right, we did learn a lot from it. I'm gad that we don't have to worry about S'len or G'off now, it might make their lives here a little easier."
Marlaey laughed, "You'd better be fine! I was really worried about you until I heard you were recovering well in the Infirmary. Elynth was going to hunt you down for me just so I'd stop wondering! But she wasn't allowed back into the infirmary, she's getting too big."
Unfortunately you've now got two dragons watching your intake of fellis. I'll not have you sleeping your days away when you could be doing more useful things with your time!

Rath was off and now Or’yn was left to the Gold and her rider. This seemed to please Or’yn just fine though the Bronze never forgot to comment on the situation and how Or’yn needed to be careful. He always took Rath’s words to heart but he could hardly obey the dragon in everything he thought was proper and fitting. So while the Bronze was off doing his thing he didn’t have to worry as much about the repercussions of his actions or thoughts.
In his state it would mostly be thoughts. “Well I might be fine physically but I’m sure to get a talking to from Weyrleader A’lez about not following orders. Who knows what I’ll have to do then! Hope they don’t have me cleaning toilets. I never much cared for that particular chore.” Or’yn had never cared to do any chores. He frequently found and talked other people into doing them for him. He was not necessarily lazy but as long as someone did the chores who cared if he was the person doing them?
Since he was a rider now they would likely give him watch duties as they were the most boring and mundane duty a dragonrider could have to do. Well that was other than reading the dingy, smelly and old records he was being forced to read now. Some of them could use a good toss in the fire. Who cared how many different wing formations there were to learn. It was an awful bore. “Just wait, one of these days you’ll have the joy of looking over lovely records like me and learn the value of Fellis!” He laughed although he knew of anyone that would irritate Rath the most. He was only joking. “In all seriousness, I am not taking as much Fellis as Rath thinks I am. If I were I’d probably be behaving rather poorly right about now. Worse off than a drunk and not nearly as fun.”

Marlaey grinned, "I'm sure you've had worse lectures on behaviour. Without Rath around to keep you in line I'd say you'd have had twice as many! But it was for all the right reasons, so I doubt the weyrleader will be overly harsh with you. You did, after all, protect the future of the weyr." The words flowed from her in a much more authoritative manner than she'd intended, maybe Elynth was rubbing off on her more than she'd thought?
The gold weyrling stretched her wings, pleased with the spacious room. It was much more comfortable than the barracks and she was looking forward to having a weyr of her own. She had no interest in records or spending days on end inside, and was quite glad that it wasn't Marlaey in Or'yn's position if only for that reason.
Her rider however, had a guilty secret. She occasionally enjoyed reading through the old records and learning how things were done before. Of course she would much rather be out exploring most of the time, but on the odd occasion she felt the pull of the library and wanted to absorb as much knowledge as she could. Maybe she shouldn't mention that to Or'yn yet, he might think it too strange! So she smiled at his joking and declined to comment.
Elynth hummed proudly. Her rider was already learning when to speak and when not to. Even in such a trivial matter such as this, that skill was important.
I'm sure Rath is well aware how much you've been taking and is quite glad you're able to conduct yourself well enough, especially in present company! She snorted with draconic laughter, completely embarrassing Marlaey who had turned bright red.

Or’yn actually being lectured did not happen as much as it might seem. At least not since he joined Illume Wing though he wouldn’t go so far as to say he was a great wingrider. There were green and blue riders more committed to doing well during drills than he was. Without Rath he’d still be just a Candidate and that was not something he was too fond of going back to. So many chores and lessons! Now he was a Wingrider and the worst thing he could do was not show up for drills or take them seriously.
“Oh well we all know he’s the better half of the pair of us.” He grinned. Rath was better in some ways but he needed to loosen up now and then. In a way being different made them much more understanding of one another. “The punishment shouldn’t be too bad. In any case it was worth it.” Or’yn took note of her tone and tried not to laugh. She was becoming more authoritative. So long as she didn’t know it wouldn’t bother her.
Her silence on the next subject hinted to him that she might not find it as amusing as he did. Eh, there were other things about his bed rest that were much worse. Having nothing to do but read was the least of his concerns. While he was in here he was not getting around and helping with the rebuild. He did not like being out of the loop.
The Gold was right. “Rath is fully aware of my condition or the present company would not have been called upon. He thinks too highly of the pair of you.” If he were in a bad state or being a bit loopy his dragon would have waited or found a way to get anyone else. He cared too much for his order and propriety to let Or’yn ruin it. “So, what am I missing by being cooped up here?” He wanted some news but eventually he’d be let out and could gather all the new events for himself.

"Well at least you're on the mend, that's all that really matters right?" Elynth hummed in agreement. "I doubt your punishment will be too bad and there's no point in thinking about it too much now I suppose." Her mind wandered for a moment as she absentmindedly scratched Elynth's eye ridges.
The gold dragonet was pleased to hear that Rath held them in such high regard. Well, technically he ought to because of who they were, but she was still glad that he liked them. She purred contentedly. Are you hungry Or'yn? she asked, thinking that if she were cooped up inside for so long she'd want to tear some meat apart to eat.
Marlaey smiled. Of course Or'yn would want to know what was happening, she should have expected that! "Well, among the weyrlings at least I think everyone is just glad that they can trust the twins now. I'm happy for them too, the dragons seem like such friendly little things, especially Danuth. Elynth and I have been mainly watching over everyone, making sure no one has been too badly affected by em.. recent events.." She was still a little shaken up herself by the attack, but her dragon was helping her through. She din't know what she'd do without her!

“True.” Soon he would be well enough for them to do more fun things together. Instead of her having to visit him as an invalid which he was sure was the most fun she’d have that day…not. He smiled, “Thank you Elynth for your thoughtfulness. I did eat this morning already. My sister and mother have made it their job to bring me food. Mom’s been out fo her head with worry.” He shook his head. As if the worst wasn’t over already. “She only has my sister and I for children and so she’s a bit of a worrier when it comes to the pair of us. Almost kept me from Standing for Rath’s clutch.”
Women on the whole were hard to read. His mother included. The woman was going to make him crazy if she kept smothering him with her concerns for his welfare. He was actually glad to see Marlaey was not nearly as smothering. He was listening to her but his eyes were closed. It was easier to concentrate on her voice when his eyes were closed.
“Sounds like you’ve all been busy. “ He was happy to hear that everyone was moving forward. He expected nothing less of everyone. The happy-go-lucky youth was optimistic that both the Holdless boys would come around eventually. “So you and Elynth are taking care of the Weyrlings welfare already… they’ll make a Weyrwoman out of you in no time at all.” He found it amusing because Marlaey had been worried about being able to handle the job.
“And who has been taking the time to make sure you and Elynth are handling the attack alright?” There was no other Goldrider for her to confide in just yet and the Bronzeriders were all busy. So he wondered if she was talking to anyone about her feelings and how she was coping. “You can’t be strong for everyone all of the time.”
