What would you like to be called OOC?: Heather
Recruited by: Echo from Igen Weyr
Email: obsidian.writer@gmail.com
Character Info:
Name: F'ren
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Rank: Wingsecond of Illume Wing
Family:
All located at a small Southern cothold.
Falthor, Father, Farmercrafter, 62
Ythal, Mother, Kitchen worker, 58
Ythaera, Sister, Journeywoman Harper, 27
Faenessa, Sister, Apprentice Harper, 15
Appearance: F'ren is of average height, 6'0" even to be exact. The brownrider's shoulders are broad and thickly padded with muscle that leads down to a narrow waist, and toned legs that are neatly corded with muscle. Growing up farming in the fields with his father, F'ren is use to hard manual labor and his body is a testament to his physical prowess. With such a repertoire in his past, F'ren has the usual amount of scars, some flecking his hands, another on his knee, and then a nasty one on his shoulder from an accident with the plow. F'ren walks with a loose-hipped gait and a sense of purpose, his head usually held high with confidence.
Despite what you might think, the above isn't what most women find attractive about F'ren. It's his dark, auburn hair, and big klah brown eyes that have weather lines at the edges. It's his sun tanned skin, and the way his muscles move seamlessly beneath his clothes. Having grown up with a family of simple means, F'ren still prefers to dress in a casual pair of breeches, tucked into his riding boots, and a simple but clean jerkin.
Personality: F'ren is confident but not arrogant. Even though he was raised with simple means he was always taught to think highly of yourself because no one else would. Although confident, F'ren is also a man of few words unless something truly provokes him to speak. He enjoys people watching and observing others. The man's most loathsome social flaw is his inability to talk to women. Oh, he can talk to them, but he usually ends up with his foot in his mouth before the conversation is over. His habit of doing so has been a running joke in his family for Turns.
Not an ambitious man, F'ren is hard working and enjoys being apart of the Weyr and apart of his Wing. The brownrider is a good follower as he respects those in authority and follows their commands- as long as he feels they are doing what is best for the Weyr and Wing.
Hobbies/Skills: F'ren enjoys wood carving and creating figurines and other trinkets in his spare time.
Pets:

History: F'ren, born Faren, grew up in a small cothold on the Southern Continent. From the time he was young he was told how horrible dragonriders were and he was constantly aware of his family's resentment towards the Weyr. Even growing up with the thought that Weyrs were bad and dragonriders were horrible, F'ren couldn't help the undying curiosity and awe that filled him each time he saw a dragon in the sky. F'ren couldn't understand, as a child, what about the dragons and their riders could be so bad. When he voiced this opinion to his father he received a sound thrashing where he learned that he would have to keep his curiosity about dragons to himself.
Each day was the same for F'ren, he woke up at the crack of dawn, worked in the fields with his father until supper time, and then he ate, slept and did the same thing the next day. At fifteen Turns, F'ren was beginning to become restless at the onslaught of each monotonous day. It was also at fifteen when F'ren's world would be turned upside down by the visit of a Search dragon from the Weyr. His father was furious, of course, and told his mother to stay inside until he was finished.
Although Falthor barked orders at F'ren to stay instead, he couldn't help his curiosity and followed his old man out to where the dragonrider waited. It didn't take long for the dragonrider to get to the point, and it took an even shorter amount of time for Falthor to tell the dragonrider to go /between/ and never come back. F'ren, though, couldn't pass up the opportunity that had presented itself. It was finally his chance to escape his life and explore a new avenue. Despite his father's outrage and threatenings to be disowned, F'ren went with the bluerider back to the Weyr.
F'ren enjoyed the life of a candidate, although getting use to some of the Weyrs customs and ways took some time for the holdbred boy. As threatened, F'ren was disowned by his father and family, but it paid off for F'ren when at the age of sixteen he Impressed to brown Aloroth. The dragon was everything that F'ren had ever hoped for. A constant companion and one who had far more suave with the females than F'ren ever hoped to have.
After Weyrlinghood was over, F'ren took the opportunity to visit his home, even though he wasn't sure what his reception would be. The second he and Aloroth landed at the small cothold the door swung open and his mother greeted him with joyful tears at the prodigal son who had returned. Even Falthor greeted F'ren with a stiff hug. Although he could tell that his family still didn't approve of the Weyr or his decision, they were going to live with it if it meant being able to see their son. Later that Turn F'ren's family grew in number with the addition of another child- a daughter.
When F'ren wasn't busy with Weyr duty he frequently made visits home to be with his parents and sibling.
After Turns of hard work and diligence, F'ren and Aloroth's dedication was rewarded with the promotion to Wingsecond. As Wingsecond, F'ren was one of the first to hear about the tragedy at Haven Weyr where two adult golds were killed. Since the act was that of the Holdless people, F'ren was shocked and torn between the two worlds. His parents, while thinking the attack a bit extreme, did not completely side against the Holdless.
Later, F'ren wouldn't hesitate to fight against the Holdless when they attacked Refugee Weyr. The brownrider proudly stood with his Wing and fought back the Holdless tide as they tried to enter the Weyr.
Time passed quickly for F'ren, it seemed that one day he was Impressing and the next he was waking up a forty-Turn old man wondering where the time had gone. Although he's been through a couple of weyrmates, a handful of relationships, and too many bed partners to count, F'ren still looks forward to each day and what it could bring.
Dragon Info
Name: Aloroth
Color: Brown
Age: 25
Description: Aloroth is a dark mahogany brown that gleams like polished wood in the sunlight. Although his body is compact, Aloroth is well muscled and stocky, giving him a high endurance during flight. Even though he's now twenty-four, Aloroth has neither slowed down nor weakened and is still in his prime.
Personality: Aloroth is a very suave brown indeed. It's a rare occasion when the brown doesn't have a green dragon on his ledge. The brown is flirtatious and well known among the female dragons. Aloroth is shameless in his flirting and finds it amusing that his rider has such trouble talking to the female gender.
When he's not poking fun at his rider, Aloroth is quite the intellectual and spends a lot of time conversing with other dragons and acquiring as much information as possible. The ironic part is that with his dragon's memory (which is short term), he rarely remembers any of the information he's acquired two sevendays into the future.
History: Aloroth, at the ripe age of 24, has seen and done many things in his dragonic life. It would be something if he could remember all of the events properly so that he could relate it to others. After Impressing to F'ren, Aloroth excelled in Weyrlinghood, helping to build F'ren's reputation as a steady, and hard working dragonrider. Even though Aloroth was popular among the green dragons, he never actually caught one until he was five Turns old- a long wait in Aloroth's opinion! Much of the rest is a blur of uninteresting facts such as Aloroth spending most of his time sunning and flirting with greens.
At the age of 18 Aloroth and F'ren were promoted to the Wingsecond position for Illume Wing. Even though F'ren never had the ambition to purposefully step on others to get to the position, Aloroth and F'ren were picked for the position because of their hardwork and willingness to help the Wing.
Clutch: Gold Marskath and Bronze Remoth
Hatching Order: 3rd
Text Color: #991A00
Mind Voice: Robert Redford
Name: Arty
Bonded To: F'ren
Color: Blue
Age: 1
Egg: Bunny
Description: Arty is a bright shade of baby blue. He’s the same shade all over his little body, even his claws are a shade of a blue. His bright coloring makes him stand out a bit, as well as his size.
Arty is a little blue flitter, smaller then some of the greens even. His head knobs are the normal size for most blues though, giving him the appearance of rabbit ears. His back legs are also a bit oversized compared to the rest of him. When he’s not flying, he tends to hop around on those back legs to get around.
Personality: Few things seem to be able to bother the little blue. He’s a social guy but isn’t as annoying or as loud as others can be. He just loves to be around others and gets so excited when someone gives him some affection. Arty is almost always moving around, even if it’s just hopping about from place to place, it’s not often that he’s sitting still.
Unless he’s eating. If there’s something he likes more then people, it’s getting food. He isn’t greedy about food but just loves to nibble on a nice piece of meat.
