OOC// This is, obviously, at least a week or so before the Holdless attack on Refuge Weyr.
It had been a while since she had transferred to Haven, barely before the previous clutch had begin their hatching. And yet the girl, no matter how much of an accpetable candidate material she had been judged to be by Blue or Green, had utterly refused to stand in the sands. The pain from Haven was still much too fresh in her heart and mind, the brunette had considered herself inadecuate to stand in such conditions. Only a few sevendays later had the teen realized how utterly stupid her decision had been -- and the guilt was only surpressed upon finding out with relief that none of the hatchlings had betweened due to lack of candidates. Still, it had been the wake up call she had needed to get herself in gear... And yet for some reason she had yet to meet the Candidate Master in his office. Still, Faranth worked her ways sometimes... For today she had come across the man in the weyrhall, and after sharing a small meal had finally followed the bluerider back to his office in the Candidate Barracks. It was amusing really, that the one to come across her today had been him of all people. She waited untl he opened the office and entered, following soon after and closing the door behind herself gently. The faint whispers of a sigh were released, before she gave him a moment to organize whatever he might want to do or something. Finally movig from her spot by the door she settled down on one of the chairs infront of the wooden desk of his. Even though she had been pleased to have someone to listen to her rantings, the fact it was her Candidate Master made it slightly... awkward, perhaps? She wasn't really sure at this point, it wasn't a feeling she was used to get after all. "I'll be honest, I hadn't expected to come across the Candidate Master of all people at such late hours in the weyrhall..."

Hearing Nayza’s comment, S’nuo could not help but smirk as he shuffled through a few of the hides upon his desk looking for two in particular. “To be completely honest with you, Nayza, my duties as a wing rider in the Weyrleader’s wing have not been excused when I obtained the position as a Candidate Master – only my duties as a Searchrider. So I am rarely in my office during ‘normal’ hours as that tends to be when my wing drills are held.”
Lifting his gaze to her for a moment, he shrugged and looked back down at the hide he finally found before opening a drawer and pulling out a writing tool. Scratching her name into the hide, he finally sat down in his own seat. “You were searched originally as a gold candidate, Nayza?”

Well, that explained why she had quite the bit of trouble to meet up with the man before -- either his office had been occupied or empty the few times she had angled her direction in its way the past sevendays. Still it earned a faint smile from her lips, bringing fond memories of watching her own father and the wing he was part of on their drills now and then. While something magnificent to watch they were indeed straining and time consuming on the riders and their dragons -- quite the workout indeed -- and she couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy for the bluerider.
Managing drills plus candidates had to be a time-consuming task, no wonder he'd gone to eat at such hours.
While S'nuo rummaged around the desk for certain scrolls the brunette remained mostly silent, not really interest on distracting his attention as he searched for whatever it was he needed. Finally the Candidate Master seemed to come across it, two hides, before scribbling what the girl assumed was her name into one and finally sat down on his seat. To his inquiry she nodded her head in affirmation.
"Yes, I was searched on the eve of my fourteen birthday at Haven for that exact reason. After the hatching I was once more searched by one of the Blues in the Weyr, though due to the unexpected Holdless attack the hatching never came to be. I was transferred over here afterwards, though I declined candidacy at the time of the past hatching due to... She paused for a few moments, mind wondering just how to explain, before finally option for the simplest and most concise explanation as she continued. "Personal reasons. I've given it some thought, however, and I would like -- if possible -- to reapply into Candidacy once more. If, of course, Search dragons still see me fit enough to do so."

Listening to her brief history as a candidate, S’nuo tilted his head and smiled before standing up and moving to a door at the back of the office, opening it, he shouted. “Yo, Malith! I have someone who needs a search dragon’s approval.” Looking back at Nayza, the candidate master’s eyes twinkled as he conversed with his dragon.
It was not long before a blue head could be seen at the far end of the Weyr, lifting off the stone couch as it turned to regard her though the door. After a moment he gave a soft croon and shifted his own position upon the couch so he could better water them. S’nuo gave a nod himself before moving back to his desk, leaving the door open for the very small blue to watch.
“He says you have nothing to worry about and he would be very disappointed if you did not stand.” Picking back up his writing tool, he brought it to his lips for a moment in thought. “So I take it you will be willing and ready to stand at the next clutch? If so, that will take us to our next task – I’m pairing all of the candidates up with a crafter. With so little time on my own hands, I want to make sure you guys keep busy and learning – what better way than to also help the Weyr out by learning a craft?”
"Do you already have a craft you have begun to learn in, or interest in one in particular, Nayza?"

She had not expected the Candidate Master to suddenly head to the back door of the office... and shout at his dragon. While she was certain he could have gotten Malith over telepathically -- like most riders did -- she found the whole interaction quite amusing, a small chuckle released as she watched the glazed eyes of the man as he spoke with his partner. Soon part of the large bulk of the dragon head could be seen through the door, as well as his large whirling eye, and after a soft croon and some shifting in his couch the blue seemed to reach a decision.
“He says you have nothing to worry about and he would be very disappointed if you did not stand.” "Well, I certainly can't go around displeasing such a handsome blue dragon. Thank you, Malith."
She hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath until S'nuo announced that she was, indeed, fit to be a candidate, an excited smile slowly but surely spreading over her lips. She hadn't realized how much she had missed this, how much this seemed to be part of her. She had been so silly to give it up in the first place...
"Yes, I'm willing and ready to stand for the next clutch. And that is a wonderful idea, S'nuo, my father always said craft skills were just as important -- even in a Weyr -- as learning to care for dragons." Tohis inquiry about any previos craft study Nayza nodded softly. "There was a Journeyman Harper back at Haven Weyr. He always liked my voice, so he trained me a lot in singing. He also started teaching me about string instrument, though I'm afraid I still have very little experience in them. I'd be more than happy to continue where he left off over ehre in Refuge, if there's any Harper available of course."

The little blue Malith visibly puffed out his chest, beaming that the young lady had called him handsome. Did you hear that, S’nuo? Did you hear that? She thinks I’m handsome! I am handsome. Did you hear that? S’nuo chuckled under his breath but it was obvious he had practice ignoring his easily excited blue as he listened to the young woman speak. So she was ready to stand again. Good.
“A Harper? Well that will work out very well, I know our Weyrharper is looking for two candidates to help him and study with him. Harper Arlin. He’s no dragonrider so he devotes all of his time to the children and adults willing to learn. I believe Filkos is only a few turns older than you too and he is certainly helpful in learning. I’ll make sure to speak with them about you.”

While she could not hear Malith, the dragon's movements over by the door along with the following chuckle by his rider clued the candidate that both were having another private conversation. She smiled slightly watching them in return, the experience bringing back fond memories of watching her father and his brown have such moments ever since she could remember. Dragons were truly magnificent creatures: intelligent, caring and pure.
She really hoped Malith was not wrong in his judgement, Nayza really hoped she was indeed candidate material. To be bonded with a creature that would have eternal love and affection towards you forever, not to mention being such bright and delightful company, was a dream of a good amount of people of Pern. Though not many got to see it come true.
As S'nuo returned back to their discussion Nayza was happy to hear about a spot in Harper craft really being available, causing the brunette's faint smile to widen considerably.
"Really? Oh, I would love to meet both of them as soon as possible to be honest!"

“Then soon as possible is when you shall meet them.” He said, smiling widely as he found her own excitement perfectly contagious. She was going to be a wonderful candidate and he could not help but already enjoy her personality. She would make a great rider. Picking up pen and parchment, he scribbled a short note onto it before looking back up at her.
“Now you have a choice. I can introduce you to the harpers in a day or two – or I can give you a letter and you can find them on your own. They are usually in the Weyr’s classrooms with the crèche children.”
Pausing his pen to wait until he knew if he was making a note for himself or for Arlin, he studied the woman again. “Also, the next rest day we will be having classes, so be sure to keep your schedule clear for the day.”
