Character Info:
Name: Nashati
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Rank: Apprentice Cook
Family:
Renuy, Father, Guard, 51
Denna, Mother, Cook, 48
Geva, Sister, Cotholder, 31
Jertil, Brother, Journeyman Harper, 29
Garon, Brother, Seacrafter, 27
Shan, Niece by Geva, 12
Vensa, Niece by Geva, 9
Zalo, Nephew by Geva, 6
Oleska, Niece by Geva, 3
Jaro, Nephew by Garon, 5
Edaline, Niece by Garon, 3
Appearance:
Nashati is not short, nor tall, nor skinny nor thick. Her height is average, topping out at five eight, and has dark brown shoulder length hair. She has to tie it up to work, but would rather leave it down, as it tends to fall out of whatever hairstyle she puts it into.
Her body is hourglass shaped, with wide hips and ample chest, and strong arms and legs. She's used to standing in a kitchen for hours chopping, lifting, frying, pickling, canning, cooking, and such, and has scarred arms and fingers as a result. When she gets nervous, or zones out, she generally plays with her hair, and chews on her lips.
Her forehead is broad, and her eyebrows are dark and expressive. She has lovely brown eyes, framed by dark long lashes, over a long narrow nose, and large, kissable lips. She has a tendency to glare however, and her dusky voice, while beautiful is generally snappish. When she moves, it's quickly, as she likes to get things done, and faster is better. She's not one to parade around slowly, dragging her heels. Instead, getting the job done, and getting out is something she'd prefer to do.
She dresses for the weather, and while she'd never wear anything provocative to work, she gets a skimpy as possible whenever she's trapped in the kitchens, particularly near the oven. She has only one pair of shoes, hand me downs from an older brother, which are tough wherry leather, and faded and scruffy. Everything else is a hand me down as well, and looks only a good as her needle work will get it. Which is decent, and not a thread more than that.
Personality:
Nashati is a cynical young lady. She doesn't assume the best of anyone when she meets them, and always expects people to act in a manner best for them despite how it will effect others. While she can be stubborn and mule headed, she rarely is because so little in her life is worth the energy. She became a cook because it was what her mother wanted, and she didn't particularly want to do anything else.
She's not one for lovers(men really don't want to mess around with a Holdguard's daughter), and doesn't share most girls her age interest in love in marriage. She's seen what marriage looks like through her older siblings, and all she sees is endless work and a lot of babble about 'love' making it easier. She'd rather work, eat, and not have to worry about feeding her three children and husband as well. Her disinterest in marriage is a source of irritation between her and her parents, but it's one of the few things she's put her foot down on.
Nashati is fairly sure the only reason she was selected for this fool's mission(and she's fair positive that they won't be finding much over on the Southern) is because she's expendable, just like the rest of the third and fourth children of Holders, and Traders and Crafters. Granted, she also has had experience fishing with her brother, she can keep the crew fed pretty much until they run out of water, and because she knows how to tie every fishing knot known to man.
However, it might also be because no one will miss them when they sink into the ocean, hundreds of miles from shore. It's a grim duty, to the be the one positive the are going to sink, die, and never see the families who forced them out onto this again, but someone's gotta be a realist.
She's really not one for traditional male/female roles, or dressing in a strictly proper manner. Nashati is a big believer in efficiency before appearances, which has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion.
Hobbies/Skills:
She can sew, has basic first aid training(mostly when it comes to burns and cuts), has knowledge on making all of the tools for fishing, and fishing itself.
Has helped gather spices and other un-farmed foods, and wouldn't be entirely helpless in a untamed wilderness area. At least, in the North.
Pets: None
History:Being the youngest by six turns isn't easy. Being the youngest female by ten turns is even worse. Her siblings were all bunched together, and close, and she was always the odd one out, always tagging along after her siblings.
By the time she was old enough to leave the safe confines of the kitchen, she almost didn't want too, and it appeared like the outside world was just as awful as her parents had led her to believe.
At Harper lessons, she was both ignored(for fear that she was a snitch, since her father was a Guard), and bullied(so that she would never dream of snitching), and all of her siblings had already moved on, and thus didn't help keep her safe. Nashati slowly became less outgoing, and more inclined to be by herself. Her free time wasn't really spent daydreaming, as she has little to dream of. The only way to attain power is to marry into it, and the ability to stand on her own two feet was the one she wanted.
As time passed, she passed out of Harper lessons, and at her mother's insistence, she started working in the Kitchens. She started to day dream about what it would be like to be a Head cook, and to command respect from those around you. Nashati would have liked to be able to do that.
Unfortunately for her, she got picked to work on this insane mission to go find Dragon who apparently are going to want to save the North out of the goodness of their hearts.
Both believing that all the Dragonriders are dead, and that even if they were alive that they'd have no interest in helping out the people who banished them in the first place, she's not exactly happy about losing her place in the Kitchen. However, she figures if Thread's coming anyway, she might as well die young, and dying at sea is very poetic.
