Holder Profile
What would you like to be called OOC? Kaemi
Recruited by: FireThorne
Email: bright light--@hotmail.com
Character
Name:Essabellona
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Rank: Holder’s daughter (minor) NOW gold weyrling
Sexual Orientation Hetero
Family:
Father: Enbellon, Minor Holder
Mother: Sallai, Minor Holder’s wife
Uncles: Belkon, Senior Journeyman Harper
Endon, Blue wher handler
Aunts: Beilia, Junior Journeyman Healer
Brother: Sellon, Heir to the Minor Hold
Appearance: Essabellona will never be a beauty. Her face is a little too round, and her eyes are a bit too far apart. Her hands are disproportionately sized with her form, and her ears are freckled. However, these same little quirks that keep her from beauty, also blend together to make her… pretty.
Although her face is a little round, Essa has bright cheeks and a small nose that fits in. The rest of her face, no matter how much sun it soaks in (or doesn't), stays constantly at the same skin tone: luckily for her, it contrasts just enough to be complementary to her small lips and gray-blue eyes. Her eyes range from a light blue edged with gray, and a dark gray edged by blue, depending mainly on the color of tunic Essabellona decides to wear that day. Framed with long, dark eyelashes, her eyes are probably the girl’s favorite feature.
She stands at about 5'6”, with wiry arms and tight legs, but her hands are a little too small to be proportionate to her body. They aren't tiny, but they make the Essabellona a bit self-conscious. For this reason, she will stand with her hands tucked behind her back or hidden by an object. Otherwise, her hands are strong and calloused, evidencing her work. She is also a little embarrassed by the spattering of freckles that run along the top bend of her ears.
Essabellona has curly, dark brown hair that waves down her back, to fall down just past her shoulders. When down, this thins out the face and hides the ears, making her a little closer to being more than pretty... but the girl works frequently, and normally she pulls her hair up when she works. After all, no one likes having to push back their hair every other movement when hard at work.
Personality: With a very open personality, Essabellona will be the person standing alone halfway across the dining hall... but then she's suddenly right in front of you, offering her hand and starting a discussion. She genuinely enjoys being around people and she adores the ebb and flow of conversation itself. The girl won't talk your ear off, if only because she wants to hear your input as well, your thoughts: that's what conversation is, and it's what Essa fiercely enjoys.
This girl cannot ever be considered 'shy'. She is bold, and she goes for what she wants, whether this be acquaintance, friendship, or something more. Essa hasn't truly experienced what 'something more' would entail... she's diddled with some boys, but nothing further than the basics, and so is still not entirely sure what she wants. However, as soon as she feels the need to figure herself out, the former 'brat will surely jump on the task much like she would any other.
Her sense of humor is very genuine and often exercised. Essabellona is the type of person who will laugh, and laugh often, at anything she deems amusing. The girl enjoys being around people who make her laugh, and therefore a lot of her close friends are those who have a sense of humor, and can articulate it well. It is lucky for them that she doesn't sound like a dying animal when she laughs, for they probably hear it frequently.
This girl is very slow to temper. She may find someone annoying, but Essabellona gives chances over and over again, until the person finally redeems themselves. She dislikes raising her voice or becoming harsh in any sort of way, so she generally tries to avoid it. However, comparable to most people with long fuses, when the end of hers is finally reached, Essa is not a very pretty person. She will yell and react in other, non-favorable ways.
In all ways, despite her boldness, Essabellona is a terrible leader. While she‘s not a dim glow in any sense of the term, she doesn’t think quickly in stressful situations, and she isn’t a strategist by nature. Sure, she can make herself heard, but when in situations that matter, Essa is more likely to withdraw and become quieter. She does follow direction quite well, on the upside, and once told what to do, she’ll more likely than not do as she’s told.
Don't mess with her name. That's Essabellona's one rule. She will always, always introduce herself as Essabellona, but then she will quickly tack on that she would prefer being called Essa. And it's quite likely that, if the subject does come up, she will mock her name endlessly. But Essa's highly defensive of her name, and all will do well if they steer clear of mocking it, themselves, and/or creating new nicknames such as 'Bell', 'Lona', 'Sabel'... anything that is not Essa. It's a possibility that she will meet someone who may get away with calling her something else. But it hasn't happened yet.
Hobbies/Skills: She likes to have her hands busy: menial labor is her friend. For this reason, she can chop like no one’s business, and basic sewing is no sweat.
Pets: Brown Firelizard Query
History: Enbellon grew up the heir to a minor hold, being groomed to take over for his father. He was tutored, even knowing that he’d never be anything more than a minor holder, as this didn’t matter to his father. Enbellon grew up with pride in his position, and shortly after his thirty-first turn, his father passed. He took up the position of Minor Holder, and after his younger siblings and their children were situated in their chosen crafts, he found his wife in a young woman, age twenty, name Sallai.
She had grown up in a CraftHall, meeting Enbellon when he went with his oldest nephew to escort him to the Hall. She ended up going back to his cothold with him, and they underwent a Joining ceremony. The trouble with the holds began stirring up, and the newly-Joined couple stayed to the shadows, instead focusing on each other and their little Hold. Maybe it made them a little ignorant to what was going around in the world around them, but maybe they didn’t care.
Their first child was a boy: Sallen. He was a sick child, and his parents had a hard time with him and healers, but eventually he grew up and became stronger. More attuned to the world around him, Sallen didn’t entirely approve of the way Enbellon and Sallai stayed so out-of-touch with the rest of Pern. However, they were his parents, he wasn’t yet out of adolescence, and he stayed quiet. Then, when he was reaching sixteen turns, Sallai gave birth to his little sister, whom they named Essabellona.
Unlike her brother, Essa was a very healthy, strong, and determined child. She liked everyone and, because of it, it was rare to find a person in the hold who didn’t like her. She was a handful for her parents, but they managed. Due to her parent’s blind eye, and her brother’s silence, she grew up fairly unaware of the trouble stirring around between the holds.
Despite being the Holder’s daughter, Essabellona always felt that she should do her part and help out. Else wise, she’d go stir-crazy. So it wasn’t rare in the least to find her in the Kitchens, and most of the drudges and higher Kitchen workers accepted her there as one of their own. The first time she heard of it was in the Kitchens one day when she was helping Cook out.
A few drudges gossiped quietly about the turmoil with Thread approaching and no dragon riders being around to help. Of course Essa knew what Thread was, who dragon riders were, and why they were no longer around. She had, like her brother and her father before them, been tutored by Junior Journeymen harpers growing up. What she hadn’t know was that Thread was approaching again. Unlike Sallen (who was being groomed as the future Holder) Essabellona had no problems with approaching her parents and asking them about it.
They hadn’t been completely ignorant about it, but they had ignored the truths in front of them. And so Essa, at fifteen turns, set out to find out what she could. She spent a turn ‘abroad’, some may call it, as she visited her friends in other Holds to figure out what was actually going on in the world around her. Essabellona came back, almost seventeen turns under her belt, and set her parents straight on what they had been ignoring.
Sallai and Enbellon were not entirely convinced that they were in the wrong, in this case. They felt that the squabbles were petty and that while, yes, Thread was imminent, dangerous, and ferocious, all of the argument was futile. Enbellon, especially, firmly believed that it all needed to end, and that a party needed to be sent out to search for the fabled dragon riders of Pern.
And so when, a few turns later, an expedition party did just that, Essabellona requested to go, and her parents agreed. They were found by the Weyr upon arriving at the Southern Continent, and it was requested that they Stand for the clutch.
Name: Rhiannoth (Ree-ann-oth)
Impressed To: Essa
Color: Gold
Age: Newly Hatched
Description: Beautifully proportioned, this queen certainly has her mother’s lovely build, for there is no denying how stunning she is. Every single thing about Rhiannoth is perfect, from her gorgeous face all the way to her flawless legs. The very epitome of a gold dragon, there is not one single flaw on her unblemished hide. Built lithe and gorgeous, she will one day grow even larger than her mother, standing several feet above Aeriath in size. With an innate grace and sense of poise, even weyrlinghood will not find this dragonet clumsy in the slightest. From the moment she hatches, Rhiannoth will be perfectly graceful and elegant in movement. In coloration, the queen is just slightly darker than her dame, holding the hue of a sunflower in full bloom. Her hide is iridescent, like Aeriath’s, and instead of holding the usual metallic sheen, it dances with an array of silver and gold when the light strikes her. Her stomach and paws are of a lighter hue, while her claws and neckridges are a deep, burnished gold in color.
Personality: Very much her mother’s daughter, Rhiannoth holds a very dignified, cultured air about her that is unmistakably all lady. Poised and elegant, there will not be a single dragon that could miss the refined traits of this lovely gold. Regal in every respect, she will be quite a lady through everything, whether it be wonderful or terrible. Nothing will strip this queen of her noble air. Rhiannoth will walk, talk, and move gracefully, her body sinuous and her words smooth. Extremely confident, this dragon will always take control when she wishes, and Aeriath is the single individual she will obey without question. A leader through and through, this gold has a quick mind and an intensely powerful influence. Because of her elegant and noble air, Rhiannoth is a very enchanting presence, which only makes her that much of a natural leader. Other dragons will easily see her as their queen, for her strong and powerful will is not to be denied.
This gold also adores being complimented, like her mother, but she plays a bit of a rougher game than Aeriath. Rhiannoth is a very powerful and clever queen, and she can fluster almost any dragon; bronze, brown, or blue alike. In flirtations, she is smooth and holds a masterful wit, and any dragon who wishes to verbally jest or flirt with this gold had better be quick on their paws. Rhiannoth is quite the ringmaster, playing all of her admirers with perfect expertise, charming everyone and very much the entertainer when she wants to be. Only the cleverest dragons will be able to keep pace with her when she really gets going, for she can quickly turn up the heat, and this will only make the males that much more determined to impress her. This queen can win you over easily, like an angel sweeping you off your feet, and will hold your heart. After she does, however, watch out. Rhiannoth can be quite hard to handle. To her bonded, however, she will be completely loving and in utter adoration of her chosen rider.
History: However, attention was effectively wrenched away from these two when a loud crack echoed throughout the cavern, and a large, wide fracture ran down the side of the Enchanting Great Queen Egg. The greens were, sadly, forgotten for the moment as nearly everyone within the cavern diverted their attention to the gorgeous golden shell. Almost as if receiving all the encouragement she needed to hatch, the dragonet within suddenly began her struggle anew, a golden foot smashing through the shell. Leaning forward, Raelwyn unknowingly mirrored her dragoness in every way, for Aeriath leaned closer as well, watching her daughter intently. With powerful strikes, the Enchanting Great Queen Egg was crumbling about the new queen, and soon enough the lady within was mostly revealed.
Much larger than her dame was upon hatching, the young queen raised her head and surveyed those watching her coolly, her movements slow and fluid. A lovely color danced upon her hide, a shade or so darker than Aeriath’s, and she was, without a doubt, beautifully proportioned. A sigh of relief swept through those watching, glad to see their new queen was safe and sound. Arching her neck, the gold raised her head to watch her mother, and Aeriath hummed in approval, lowering her neck to touch her nose to the young gold’s. With that brief contact, the dragonet swung her tail and easily broke the last bit of shell, stepping away from her egg gracefully. Stepping forward, the Enchanting Great Queen displayed a charm and poise that had never been seen upon the sands, her movements even more elegant than her other green sisters who had seemed graceful at the time. Prowling near the candidates with a feline-like grace, the gold arched her neck and laughed, her smooth, lovely voice echoing throughout every mind in the cavern. Pausing, her body perfectly balanced, the young queen eyed the candidates before darting forward, poetry in motion. Regal and refined, everything about this dragonet was beauty made real, her lithe body and perfect hide glittering in the glowlight. Dancing among the females, the dragonet moved among them all, dashing and darting this way and that until every girl had to turn in circles to keep up with her. Leaping past Anaryn, she left a deep gash down the girl’s leg, one that would likely need stitches when the hatching was through. Still moving through her frantic dance, the gold knocked Vaylee over, her sharp claws shredding the girl’s right leg and arm. Not life-threatening, but rather painful, those wounds would need stitches as well. Another girl received the same treatment, except upon her stomach, while Zaylee was scored across both of her legs as well. It had not been her intention to injure them, merely to play, but the queen did not know her own strength and power, and she soon shook her head, slowing to a prowl once more.
Lifting her head primly, the gold sauntered past the girls now, intent on ignoring them until she reached Hers. If they were too stupid to play her game correctly, then they were not worthy of her time. Stalking smoothly and lithely towards her chosen, the queen paused before her, neck arched and her body taut to show off how lovely she was. Ah, my Chosen, Essabellona. I shall only call you that once, my love. ‘Tis EssaMine, now. I am Rhiannoth, your dragon and Refuge’s second queen. Never forget that, my love, for we are too precious to ignore. A cultured, elegant laugh followed, flowing through her rider’s mind like wine, and the gold stepped forward to twine her tail around Essa’s ankle. We shall soon give them a show to remember, my love, but until then, perhaps food is in order?
