Holder Profile
What would you like to be called OOC? Thorne, or FT
Recruited by: HG
Email: fire.thorne@yahoo.com
Character
Name: K'dyn (Koldyn)
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Rank: Brown Weyrling (Former Igen Lord Holder's 2nd Son/Expedition Co-Leader)
Sexual Orientation Assumed Heterosexual, but right now, very very confused.
Family:
Father: Kosta (39), Lord Holder of Igen
Mother: Sadrine (39), Lady Holder of Igen
Brother: Kovin (22), Eldest son, Heir to Igen. Married three turns ago, and now has three children.
Sister: Sasta (21), Married two turns ago to a lord holder’s third son. She now resides in a minor hold at Benden with her husband, they have only one child.
Brother: Kastin (15), Too young to have began to life outside his parent’s eye yet. Doing well with lessons, will make a good minor holder one day.
Sister: Kadrine (11), Promised to a minor holder of Igen, when she is old enough. As the baby of the family, is spoiled to death by her mother.
Nephew: Keden (3), Kovin’s eldest. Igen’s heir after Kovin.
Nephew: Eledin (2), Kovin’s second child.
Niece: Alvine (1), Kovin’s youngest and only girl. Spoiled already.
Niece: Sadrine (2), Sasta’s only child. She was named after her grandmother.
Appearance: An elegant, attractive figure greets your eye when Koldyn steps into view. Though not as tall as he would like, hovering around 6’0” or 6’1” on a good day, the holder has a decent muscle on that average build and so still cuts a handsome form. He is not so muscled as to be confused with a smith or miner, but is instead rather simply trim and fit. Kol isn’t the stoutest guy around, but he does enjoy exercises that keep him looking good. His arms are leanly built, showing a healthy bit of strength in his biceps and forearms, and his hands are capable and deft. His stomach is flat as a griddlecake and hard. He has a bit of growing left to do, as he is only eighteen turns, and may perhaps grow stronger as he matures. Koldyn’s face is not as ‘manly’ as some of his elders, but instead holds a boyish charm that makes him attractive in a more pretty way instead of handsome. He has the face of an aristocrat, really, and certainly has the haughty look of a lord.
With that pretty face comes pretty eyes, a light amber in color and a most unusual trait, to be sure. The holder prides himself on his appearance, and enjoys having such a unique feature. His hair, which is meticulously cared for, is a reddish-brown that lightens in the summer and darkens in the winter’s scarce sun. It is not too long or too short, but hangs to the bottom of his ears when wet. However, since Koldyn is so stuck on his appearance, it is styled and feathered in a certain way, a little properly wild but also elegant. Yes, Kol can pull it off.
So stuck as he is on appearances, Koldyn wears well-tailored clothing that makes him look good. He loves collared shirts that show off his lean physique, and has a separate wardrobe for summer that has several sleeveless options. Though not the strongest, the holder does work out, and likes to show off his arms. He likes boots, however, and will never, never be seen wearing sandals. He hates them with a bloody, bloody passion, and has given out plenty of tongue-lashings to any who think to put him in a pair.
Kol has his favorites when it comes to colors, as well. His desired hues are stark and warm colors, and he loves black and white clothes, and dark greys. He will also wear blues and golds, and some darker reds. He hates light colors, and orange makes his hair look too washed-out and purple is too gaudy for his tastes. Green…is iffy. That depends on the shade. He is rather meticulous about his appearance. Koldyn also wears two weapons, as his father insisted his sons all be taught self-defense, and he excelled with longknives. As such, the two slender blades are worn on each of his hips, and are an elegant, matching pair. He also has a short dagger tucked into his boot for cutting things and keeping his nails trimmed. It is in his right boot, since he is right-handed.
Face Claim: Chace Crawford
Personality: A true lord’s son in every aspect, Koldyn can either make you fall head over heels in love or give you the absolute strongest desire to choke his sharding neck. It all depends on how he chooses to act, and how well you can tolerate arrogant wherries. From a young age, he was raised to be an aristocrat, and so has a very commanding air and expects everyone to obey his orders. After all, he is a holder’s son, and though second he may be, Kol is just as intelligent and driven as the heir of Igen. He is likely what you would label a ‘typical noble’, even though he can be very likable, he still holds his head high and believes deep down he is better than you.
Though even more arrogant than a bronze dragon at their worst, Koldyn is one of those people that you just want to get to know. He grins often, smirks even more, and jokes as much as a harper with too much wine. The holder loves a good jest, and though he knows better than to use his biting wit at court with the other lord holders, his buddies are privy to the sharp humor beneath his ‘holder’s son’ exterior. He is fun to be around, the embodiment of the term ‘life of the party.’ He can make you laugh, charm his way into your heart, and leave you wanting more. Well….truth be told, that is the affect he has on the court women, anyway, but Kol may not be so lucky with more experienced, confident ladies. However, it is likely he will always be popular with the guys.
In studies, the boy was an average student, and though he is intelligent enough to make a good mind, he preferred the more physical aspects of running a hold to the finances and such. If he were to ever have a minor hold of his own, he would need an exceptionally trustworthy steward to care for the more mundane, domestic affairs. Koldyn did, however, shine when it came to etiquette, protocol, and the most material aspects of lordly study. He has an undeniable gift with words and a clever tongue, and a talent for getting his way. He is much like his father. When the holder speaks, every word comes out smooth and cool. He sounds elegant and cultured, and can be very convincing when he so wishes. People naturally listen to him, which is why he appears to have such a knack for bending everything to his opinion. If he ever was to partner up with a sharp minded-man, they would make an absolutely lethal pair. Kol is also an experienced dancer, political ambassador, and entertainer of pretty ladies.
Koldyn is also what one might call stubborn. Stubborn as a sharding dreybeast and then some. Of course, his arrogance has a lot to do with this. In his mind, Kol is right at least 98% of the time, and so when something does not go his way or someone disagrees, that stubbornness crashes through and he will fight tooth and nail to prove he is correct. His obstinate nature shows through often, but as long as he remembers his etiquette and decorum, it doesn’t get him into trouble. Much. He also secretly vies for his father’s approval, and wants more than anything to be a better son than Kovin. With this new quest, he is on his way to achieving his goal.
Hobbies/Skills: Koldyn is skilled with his twin longknives, and can defend himself well with them. He is trained tirelessly in etiquette, protocol, and court politics. Runner riding, swimming, and dancing are also among his talents, as is persuasion and a knack for getting his way.
Pets: Squall, blue firelizard
The third blue to approach the expedition, he is the color of a stormy sea and often acts according to his coloring. He is temperamental and likes things to go the way they are supposed to. Although things often upset him he rarely vocalizes these offenses preferring to suffer in silence and annoy the shells out of his newly impressed. A person whom he is incredibly loyal too, especially for a firelizard.
History: As the second son of Igen’s lord holder, Koldyn knew from birth that he would have to prove himself in order to find his place in the world. His elder brother, Kovin, had everything so easy, being the first. Blessed with the circumstance of being ‘foremost son’, Kovin enjoyed his childhood far more than his little brothers and sisters. Though their parents were good enough to them, it was always obvious who Kosta’s favorite was. Sadrine, however, tended to spoil the youngest in the family, whichever child that was at the time.
When Koldyn was born, his father saw to it that he was tutored as well as his elder brother, and though he would never be lord holder of Igen, Kosta planned for all of his sons to have minor holds. He wanted Kol to make a good holder, no matter where he chose to be. His studies went well enough, and though the boy was never thrilled with the financial portions of his training, he did love the other, more physical lessons. He was ask skilled as his elder brother in the art of persuasive speaking, and was the most well-mannered teen a family could ask for.
As he grew, Kol always stood in his brother’s shadow at formal hold events and gathers, and he finally got sick of it. Stubbornly refusing to be known as ‘the second son’ all his life, he managed to develop his own personality and reputation. He circulated in the cliques, he flirted with the ladies, he traded jests with the men, and he made his own name instead of relying on his father’s. Kosta took note of this, and was both impressed and proud of his son. However, Koldyn had moved past his ‘hidebound’ personality during this time, growing out of his quiet presence to what one could almost call a social butterfly. Other minor holders were taken by his clever words and quick wit, and the ladies adored his charming manner.
Koldyn was quickly becoming more popular than his elder brother when it came to hold gathers, and even during meetings, minor holders were asking about him. They all pegged Kol as a capable man, especially since he was able to move past his brother’s lengthy shadow to be his own person, and hoped to marry off their daughters to him. Since it was undeniable a lady of greater statue, such a lord holder’s daughter, would marry Kovin, they instead strove to give their own daughters to Koldyn. The boy tended to find it all greatly amusing, but court decorum won out and he played his part of the flattered son perfectly. Secretly, the holder had no desire to marry so quickly, but he wasn’t brutally opposed to the idea, either.
As he grew older, the boy began to take an interest in greater politics than just those that swam within Igen and her surrounding minor holds, and he was introduced to the discord about the dragonriders. As his son took note of the state of things, Kosta was happy to see Koldyn studying the wide affair, and confided in the boy. He told the boy about the true nature of the dragonriders, and how he and a few other holds were fighting for their return. It was then he asked something that Kol could never have imagined, and will never forget.
Go. Find the dragonriders. Bring them back.
Koldyn wouldn’t have refused even if he was offered the position of heir. It was the most important thing his father had ever done in his life, and Kosta had chosen him. And so, Koldyn travelled to Southern Boll, with the full intention of doing exactly what his father had said. Bring the dragonriders back.
Although, it didn't exactly work just as he planned. Find them he did, but...they weren't exactly as easy to manipulate or convince as he had thought. Instead, Koldyn found himself standing on their hatching sands, Impressing to a brown named Poseideth and falling head over heels in love with him. Now what would he do?
Name: Poseideth (Poe-sigh-death)
Impressed To: Koldyn (K'dyn)
Color: Brown
Age: Newly Hatched
Description: Poseideth is a sandy colored brown with a darker brown dorsal stripe down the length of his back to the tip of his tail. His tail is long and disproportionate to the rest of his body. As he loathes the word average, we will say that Poseideth is the size a brown should be. From his head to his feet he is what would be called the median of brown height. He is a little longer due to his tail but is otherwise the normal size for his color. His well muscled form shows a lithe sturdiness. Even in the light his dark brown claws seem a bit dull as if they were sanded down.
Personality: A strong dragon in body and mind, Poseideth is not one to mess with. He has a good idea of what he wants and is willing to go to any lengths to get what it is he wants. His strong will is difficult to manage at times especially as his moods change depending on the company he is keeping. He is extremely passionate about things he cares about. This can range from simple things like whether herdbeast is better than wherry to more important things like why brown dragons are better than blues. (Not that they are...oh wait, yeah, they are! ) Because he is a passionate soul, Poseideth has the capacity to show a wide range of emotion. He can be the life of the party, telling jokes, laughing at the idiot blue who made a mistake in Weyrling training. Of course, he can also have quite the temper when things are not going his way. According to Poseideth, all ways should be his way.
Despite his somewhat negative side, there are things the brown enjoys doing with others: Swimming, sunning, flirting with greens. In fact he has a lot of love for green dragons. If he does talk to dragons its usually to greens, after all they are really really pretty!!! He argues easily with other browns (if they knew better they would listen to him) and some blues just plain annoy him. To Bronzes and Queens he would be respectful but don't expect him to make a big show of it. After all, he's worth ten of them on a bad day. He is much too self centered to care about bespeaking humans other than his rider, so don't count on it.
History: Snorting in contempt, the brown swept off towards the candidates, prepared to quickly make a show of choosing his rider so as to steal the attention back to himself. However, no matter how he stomped or pawed or muscled through the boys before him, that annoying Wicked Trickster Egg still had the greater part of the audience’s attention. Well, fine, he thought, and the brown plopped down on his butt right in the middle of the boys, determined not to Impress until the other hatching was out of his egg and everyone was watching him again. With little ado, the Wicked Trickster Egg broke to reveal a rather attractive blue, several colors painting his hide and an adorable little patch of sapphire ringing his left eye. Slinking towards the boys, the dragonet was clearly very sly in his movements, and gave the impression of a certain...wicked humor within. Prowling lithely past his pouting brown brother, the dark blue snorted in amusement as he found his Chosen. Silly brown, wouldn’t you agree, CemarMine? You and your Lokinth will have fun with his one, aye? An unusual accent danced through the hatchling’s voice, laced with a cool sense of wicked amusement that would no doubt come to play later in life.
There! Now that was out of the way. Leaping back to his feet, waiting for everyone to watch him again, the brown stomped down the line of candidates and grabbed a certain boy’s white robe in his teeth. Starting forward, stomping against the sand and practically dragging his stumbling bonded forward, the brown huffed in irritation and glanced upwards towards the boy. Hurry it up, will you KoldynMine? Took me for sharding ever to get out of that sharding egg, and now your Poseideth is starving! Didn’t help, that stupid blue stealing the show. Bunch of deadglows. He grumbled.
