Character Info:
Name: J'red (formally Jared)
Age: 18
Gender: male
Rank: Weyrling
Family: Berne - Father - Smith (deceased)
Lia - Mother - Farm Labourer (deceased)
Appearance: Short for his age Jared stands well under 6ft tall and is quit self conscious about his height. Actually, he is quite self conscious about everything. From his bright blue eyes to his almost child-like physique he feels as if he hasn't yet grown into himself. He hunches when he walks, trying to keep out of sight, appearing nearly suspicious, but nothing could be further from the truth as this boy is as trustworthy as they come.
To seem older, or at least his own age, Jared took to shaving his head because he thought his long hair made him look like a kid. He figured that if people could see the definite curve of his jaw and the slight stubble on his face that maybe they would see how old he is. He has tried to keep fit and build up some muscle but so far he hasn't been as successful as he'd hoped. He is very lean with a pale complection. His arms and legs look very long due to his thin frame causing his clothes to hang off him in an ungainly fashion.
He doesn't much care what he wears right now as he isn't proud of how he looks yet, but he does have one sentimental item which he carries on his person at all times. A simple bracelet of woven leather strips, braided together and tied at the end. It isn't fussy or shiny or in any way of any real value, but it belonged to his mother. She had given it to his father on the day of Jared's birth, she had made it in the weeks running up to it. And on Berne's deathbed he passed it to his son with his blessing. Jared doesn't wear the bracelet, he is afraid it is too precious even for him, but he still holds it with him and can often be seen weaving it through his fingers as he thinks.
Personality: With his strange appearance many of those who meet Jared at first are unsure what to expect of him. But though he hides in the shadows where possible he is really a kind and honest young man.
His looks have made him feel childish ever since he was old enough to comprehend the attraction of the opposite sex. He feels less like a man and more, unfortunately, like a boy. But he won't let that hinder his open and helpful demeanor towards anyone who encounters him. He may be embarrassed alot, but when put in a sticky situation he rises to the occasion and exposes a much calmer and confident part of himself.
Jared works best when he feels he's comfortable, and for that to happen he needs to know exactly what's expected of him. Purpose and direction hold the key to his contentment. However, when he understands what he needs to do he can sometimes become a little blinkered. Often someone will need to remind him of the rest of the world's existence so that he doesn't get too wrapped up in his work. But deep down Jared feels for everyone, he just gets distracted playing his own role.
Feeling a strong allegiance to Pern and all of its creatures, Jared would do anything in his power to save them. Though predominantly not a fighter he would, if needs be, fight for others who couldn't themselves. However, he prefers to do his part in other ways, less heroic or in the spotlight. He listens to those who need an ear, he cares for those who are misguided or mistreated and he heals those who are injured. He is a brave young man with much to learn of the workings of the world, but he is full of compassion and the desire to be a force for good.
Hobbies/Skills: Skilled in healing and making a fool of himself when faced with social interaction.
Pets: none
History: Born and raised in a southern cothold by his loving parents Berne and Lia, Jarred bounded through his childhood in the normal fashion. He was a kind and gentle boy, always first to lend a hand. His parents were very proud of him and worked hard to support him in every way they could. His life was filled with friendly faces as he knew his community well. If he wasn't volunteering his services at a local farm, he was down with the stall holders in the market making them laugh with stories of his adventures. He loved all the wildlife Pern had to offer and dreamed of the day he would own his very own Fire Lizard.
But when he reached eleven turns his mother was killed in a farming accident. He blamed himself for he was the first to find her, still alive, and did not have the knowledge to save her. His father was devastated. He refused to speak of what happened after Lia's death and this silence forced itself onto Jared. He grew quieter like his father and they both began slowing losing eachother in their grief. They were never the same. Deciding to apprentice to a local Healer near where he lived Jared hoped to learn all he could in order to save others like his mother. His father moved to a bigger hold to find work and escape his past. They rarely spoke and did not see eacthother until six turns later when Jared received word of his father's illness. He left his home to try and save his father. With the Hold's Healer he tried to stem the flow of time, but his father was just too old and weak now. His time had come and Jared was forced to accept it. The Healer helped make Berne comfortable and Jared spent a year in there only managing to comfort his father in his final hours and speak with him one last time about his mother.
Soon after his burial Jared decided to travel to the weyr, hoping he could make a difference in this world, in search of a new life with dragons perhaps.
Dragon Information
Name: Naioth
Age: Hatchling, Turn 1260
Color: Green
Appearance:
Although this green is about average in size her body type is a bit odd. She has a long neck and tail and large wings but her body itself is rather small in comparison. If she were in water she'd probably look like a sea monster. As it stands all of these things on there own should not affect a dragon's flight but together, well she might have some issues. One being she may not be able to last long during threadfall. Taking off might be harder for her but she should be able to change directions and land more easily.
A beautiful sea green color is the main shade of her hide. Throughout her hide there are lighter and darker versions of sea green which seem to flow together. On Naioth's hind legs she has jade colored striations which match the color of her claws. She should grow to a length of 22.61 meters.
Personality:
Naioth is an impressionable green. She listens well to older and wiser dragons and takes what they say as the truth. She is easily given to following what other people do or say she should do. The sweet, sensitive dragon gives off the impression of a young child. She seems a bit slow at times but mostly because she often seems to be off in her own little world. She is dreamy but also perceptive. She easily feels the emotions and feelings of others and has potential to be a Search Dragon.
Her intuition is often right even uncannily so. She has a very sympathetic nature and loves to be other dragon's shoulder to cry on. A tender, loving green she is very much the baby of the clutch. Her humane nature makes it easy to see why she is often surrounded by other dragons of varying colors. She loves music and art. Often she asks her rider to show her art and take her to hear songs. Sadly she is easily manipulated and will not speak up for her own wants and needs. Rarely giving her opinion on any subject that could possibly offend anyone she knows.

Hatching Post
While most people were watching her Bronze brother, the green who emerged from the sensitive dreamer egg, walked quietly out of her shell. First she admired the room in which she was now in, then she began to move past the girls and straight for the boys. He was there. She knew he was there. As she approached the boys, her Bronze brother, turned around and nearly snapped at her.I am first. You wait. She stopped where she stood and pouted a moment. Who was he to say she couldn’t find hers yet. Its not like they wanted the same thing! As indignant as she was, she did wait. So the sea gree colored dragon watched her brother as did everyone else.
After the Bronze Impressed, the Hatching Sands were in an uproar of applause and whistling and shouts of excitement. A Bronze Hatching and Impressing first was a sign of good luck to the Pernese. While the commotion was going on the lSensitive green was finally allowed to find her lifemate. As she had been waiting she pinpointed where she had felt the right person. Looking at one boy then another she finally found him. Naioth found you! I thought I’d never find you. J’red mine, I’m very hungry.
