R'kin looked around for a second and then listened no one was about as he pushed the light cover off of him. He slowly got dressed in black pants and a white shirt as he looked around. His dragnet Krestanovith was still sleeping yet he took a quick look then wanted some time to himself. ""Where are you going," asked Krestanovith as he awoke letting one eye follow his rider? The bronze weyrling rider turned to him then said, "Go back sleep," as he didn't want his bronze to follow this one time.""No, I'm coming with you," said Krestanovith as he got up then followed his rider out moving around their weyrling mates. When they tiptoed past the weyrling master's office and went out into the weyrling bowl.
He wasn't really one to follow the rules though his dragon was and it annoyed him. R'kin was one for adventure and wanted to have some fun instead of all the rules. The young dragnet followed his rider to some stands that we're sort of out of the way. It was late at night as they both sat there and just gazed up. A harsh realization fell over him that he would someday be expected to lead as a wing leader or greater then leaned against his dragon. " You'll be fine," said Krestanovith as he just looked at his rider the two of them would fine.
His thoughts began to drift as he leaned against his dragon and just looked up. "Your a good pillow," said R'kin as he patted the eye ridges of his dragnet and smiled at him. The two of them we're going against the rules yet sometimes one just needed some time alone to think. It was apparent that his dragon wasn't going anywhere except with him and the two of them made a good pair.

Elynth had heard a stirring in the barracks and had quietly raised herself to see Krestanovith and His sneaking out. She cocked her head in curiousity. MarlaeyLove? Will you wake? Krest and His have left and I'm not sure where they are going. Marlaey rolled over in her sleep, Hmm...? Elynth sat up quietly on her haunches and nosed her rider, We must see where they have gone. Reluctantly, and still groggy, Marlaey maneuvered herself into an upright position and slid out of bed. In an attempt to stay silent she only spoke to her dragon telepathically. Ok, you're going to have to say that all again, I didn't register a word of it..
Once the mission was clear, they both started to sneak out of the weyrling area too. Marlaey had to remind Elynth several times to walk slower, she was a very clumsy Queen after all and they didn't need any accidents. So with that to hinder them it took quite awhile before they reached the bowl and found R'kin and his bronze. Elynth padded forward carefully, Greetings to you and Yours Krestanovith, what leads you here this night? It was her first time properly addressing the young bronze and her queenly nature automatically flowed through, much to the disappointment of her rider. Marlaey wanted her fellow weyrlings to see her and her dragon as friends, not superiors! And if only they knew the real relaxed, enthusiastic, sweet gold that Elynth was, they would understand her better.
Marlaey waved softly to R'kin, hoping they weren't disturbing anything. "Hey," she whispered to him, "May we join you?"

Krestanovith turned to see the gold weyrling pair of Marley and Elynth approaching then said, " "We're out for air or that is what my rider says," as he looked at them for a moment. His rider got up as he heard a noise and saw the young queen with her rider then said, "Of course,". While he sat up for a moment he did little more then that because he was not for one for show. It had already started with the other colors already bowing towards her or watching what he was doing it was starting to drive him crazy. His nature of blending with the crowd was not going to work apparently.
The young bronze knew that one day he would be expected to lead and would have to come to terms with it. He didn't expect a lot of competition because there we're no other bronzes in their clutch. R'kin had wished for at least a few more or one other bronze rider yet would be happier for it when it came to a certain queen rising one day. If he had to the duty the weyr one day one quick look at Marley made it apparent he wouldn't mind she was quite pretty besides they had a lot in common both being from weaving families.
"What brings you out tonight gold rider," asked R'kin with a smile at her as he motioned at the nearby ground for her to make herself comfortable? He wasn't one for a lot of conversation yet his friendly nature was normal. R'kin realized that he would have to get close with this group because they we're all in this together. "She's becoming quite a beautiful queen," said R'kin as he smiled at the queen's glittering color and just smiled she was the future of this weyr.

Elynth was disappointed with R'kin's greeting of them. He had treated them as he would have any other colour and it irritated her. As a bronzerider he should know better. But Marlaey hadn't been bothered by it at all, in fact, she was quite pleased at R'kin for not making a big fuss about them. As she sat down down beside him she thought about how nice it was to be treated as a normal weyrling pair for once. We are not normal.
The young Queen made herself comfortable and nodded to Krestanovith, He's getting used to being a bronzerider? she asked, curiously. Elynth knew that Marlaey at least wuld take some time before she was able to fully appreciate her new role in the weyr, so she expected the latest bronze pair to be in a somewhat similar situation. She flicked her tail absently, enjoying the night air.
"We were looking for you actually, Elynth thought there might have been something wrong." She smiled at his compliment to her dragon and the gold glowed with pride, forgiving R'kin instantly for his former rudeness. "Thank you so much R'kin," Marlaey smiled, "She thinks so too!" The new queenrider looked over to Krest, "He's almost as large as she is, and very handsome too, even compared to some of the older bronzes."

R'kin smiled at her comment about Krestanovith and then looked at her for a moment. He said, "Thank you he seems to grow everyday though you probably notice the same about Elynth,". The bronze weyrling reached for his dragon then rubbed his eye ridges. His beautiful Krestanovith and still couldn't believe what responsibility had been thrusted upon his shoulders. A life forever changed then looked over at the gold weyrling pair and asked, "Do you think we're ready for leadership and for fighting thread,"? It was a honest question and he had to admit that probably one day they would have to lead.
"The queen seems to be rising more and it will be expected of us," said R'kin as he looked at her. He fully expected in two turns or less to see the both of them in leadership positions. R'kin sighed as his bronze seemed restless and soon was falling asleep. The bronze rider turned to her saying, "I never expected any of this when I stepped on the sands that day," then sighed for a moment. A strange turn of events had landed both of them leadership positions and the only ones of their generation. His only competition might be one of two browns yet there was plenty of room for more then one wing leader. He valued every dragon for what they brought then smiled a moment thinking of the adventure that they would have.

Marlaey nodded, "They grow quickly when they're young." She paused to think over R'kin's question. It was an important one, one that she herself struggled with. "I s'pose I feel a little more comfortable with it because as a girl I could only Impress to a green or gold. Two different extremes! So along with all the other girls it was drilled into us that one day we might have to lead and that we shouldn't stand unless we were prepared for that." She reached out for Elynth, stroking her neck. "But that doesn't mean I'm not still terrified by the prospect!" she laughed, "I really wasn't expecting a gold, but here we are. I think once we all have a bit of training we'll be more comfortable in our roles."
Elynth nuzzled her rider and whuffed at her soft hair. She cast her on on the tired bronze and decided not to disturb him further with pleasantries. Curling her tail around her rider she listened to the two young people's conversation.
"I know we all got told to expect the unexpected, but for us, me and you I mean, we really got a surprise. We'll have to take on a lot of responsibility soon, but I don't want to lose touch with everyone else just because we have a different path...", she looked down, "To be honest I'm more afraid of people not wanting to be around Elynth and I because of our status.. And what of those who are willing to be friends are only doing it because we're valuable to the weyr? I want some real friends.." She wondered if R'kin had any worries about this or was it just her?
You'll always have me little one.

R'kin said, "Real friends," as he thought about things and he thought about over the next turn what things might come. He said, "Well, I can be your friend," as he smiled at her for a moment. The young bronze weyrling would be a good friend to her and unlike the others could understand more. "I'm afraid that how you want to admit it that your more important then the others especially these days and your going to be held up more then the others," said R'kin as he looked at her. "You'll be junior weyr woman in the next two turns and I can almost bet that within that time wing second will become us," said R'kin as he looked at her.
"She's special queen and very beautiful," said R'kin as he looked Elynth and then reached out to pet her lightly on the eye ridges. R'kin could almost see them a few turns from now in the meeting rooms and watchings Elynth's clutch hatching. The future was beautiful and there was a lot in the future for the both of them. He leaned back against his dragon then said, "We'll be okay as long as we all stick together," as he looked over at Marley.

At R'kin's easy pronouncement that he would be her friend, Marlaey couldn't help but blush as she smiled. He was such a sincere and forward person, she liked him very much and was thrilled that he wanted to be friends. Faranth knew she needed them now. She could see he understood the importance of their rank, especially when he mentioned the future. If anyone knew what she was going through right now it was R'kin, and she was pleased she would be able to confide in him now.
Elynth had given R'kin an approving look when the conversation turned to friendship. She was glad Hers would have someone to speak with about her worries, someone in the same class, and she was more than happy to get to know his dragon, Krestanovith. Such a handsome young bronze, the little queen looked forward to seeing him grow into a magnificent dragon. And she would be there for him to try and catch. Her eyes turned back to the rider, his hand reaching out to her. At first she felt the urge to withdraw, only Marlaey had laid a hand on her so far. But the knowledge that this boy was good for her rider and obviously appreciated what a fine gold she was encouraged her to be more tolerant. She allowed him to stroke her eye ridges, humming softly.
Marlaey was quite surprised when her queen allowed this, she hadn't been so open with other people. "She must like you very much!", she said to R'kin, grinning. "We will stick together then, and everything will be alright, I hope... Thank you for talking with me, and for being my friend", she whispered the last part, a little embarrassed. But she wanted R'kin and his bronze to know how much it meant to her.

"Good," said R'kin as he smiled at the queen as his bronze laid back down and looked up at the sky. The sky revealed the stars and one was shooting through the sky. "Quick make a wish," said R'kin as he closed his eyes and made a quick wish as he looked at Marley. "What did you wish for," asked R'kin as he looked over at Marley and his bronze came around to them to put his head on his rider's lap? "What a spoiled dragon," said R'kin as he rubbed the eye ridges of the dragon and looked at the stars. "One day we'll fly up there and I can't wait to be able to go wherever we want," said R'kin as he smiled at his fellow rider.
The young bronze weyrling did have a inner desire to lead and knew that they would be wingleaders. He knew they had a small wing yet there was strength in even the smallest of numbers. While their little group was more understanding then the other wings and looked at her. "Come what was your wish," asked R'kin as he looked at her for a moment as he wanted to know what she had wished for?

A wish?
What more could she wish for? she'd Impressed the most beautiful creature in the world! In spite of herself however she found herself squeezing her eyes shut tightly and wishing silently. It must have been a habit born of her childhood because she automatically wished for a dragon and a fire lizard. Smiling slightly to herself she altered that wish to include making and keeping new friends as well as perhaps a flit or two!
When R'kin asked what she wished for she blushed slightly because wishing for more than a golden dragon seemed selfish! She tried to avoid the question, but at his insistence she told him the truth. Or at least part of it. "I wished that we'd stay friends, that any people I do befriend now will be real and that the friendships will last." She smiled warmly at him and Krestanovith.
She too was excited about the idea of flying. It filled her dreams and her daydreams too sometimes. Such a freedom, such a privilege!
