Zayten walked through the halls of the Weyr with Trelia following along behind him. He walked slowly, giving her a chance to look around and hopefully learn her way to the Weyrhall. “Fire lizards? Oh yeah we have those here. We’ve got two golds actually. All the Dragon Shield members have one, they get first pick at the bronze and browns since they’re the easiest to train and can relay messages better then greens or blues. A few months ago there was also a little hatching, it even had a gold but the Headwoman got it. Weyrlings normally aren’t allowed to try and Impress one until their dragons are full grown or at least close to it.” The young man paused as they reached the Weyrhall, giving Trelia a chance to look in. It was a few candle marks before dinner so the hall wasn’t full but there were people milling around. Zayten waved to a few people that he knew before he hooked an arm around Trelia’s and pulled her in after him. “My favorite place in the Weyr. There’s always people around here, even in the middle of the night, and if you make friends with some of the kitchen people you can always get something tasty out of them.” Zayten had of course made friends with them all, especially one of the girls who helped with the baking. There was nothing better then getting a fresh bubble pie still hot from the oven, or bread that was still warm. “Come on, lets go get some khal and see if there’s anything worth snacking on right now.”

Being new was not as glamorous as she thought it would be. Laure was beginning to think having no reputation at all was worse than having a bad one. Among the Holdless, she was considered an almost traitor till she had left and now she was certain she had finally earned the title of traitor. The Weyrhall was a busy place and next to no one would take notice of a young woman, no matter how solitary she may seem.
Normally Laure loved her solitude. It was better than listening to the nonsense the people around her had talked about. All their hate and greed was a turn off for the woman. She preferred to think about things that could help people rather than hinder their survival. Dragons had a purpose and one day the Holdless would figure that out.
She was deep in thought, walking towards the Dining area. Here she was casually bumped which for a normal person would be no big deal. A recovering, half starved person had a bit more trouble remaining steady on their feet. So Laure did what anyone would do to try to regain their footing, she reached out for the nearest thing that could steady her. And it would be her luck that a young man had a free arm to grab on to.
While this kept her from falling she realized she had now earned herself a reputation as a complete loon. “Sorry! Oh I’m so sorry. Is your arm arlight?” Laure bit her lip apologetically and her eyes contained a natural almost motherly concern for him. There was a young woman on his other arm who was supposed to be there, unlike herself.
“Someone knocked into me and I couldn’t keep my footing.” She explained as if that would save her now. Laure was expecting the worst. At home she would be yelled at and possibly kicked …Her father would definitely give her a whooping if he found out at home. Little did she know that the Weyr viewed strength as a separate thing from violence.

Trelia followed Zayten along the hallos of the weyr and looked around trying to take it all in. It was a lot like it was at home yet the walls seemed whiter. When they arrived into the hall and she just looked around taking it all in then she felt her arm being grabbed then taken over to where the food happened to be. Her eyes showed that she was hungry when she saw a woman seemed to knock into the side of Zayten. The young woman smiled at the other woman and asked, "Are you okay," looking at her? It was a relief to see a woman around her own age then looked waiting for the other two to say something.
She was looking at the other woman and seemed to notice that she seemed out of place like herself. It was a personal hope that she was new and not raised at the weyr itself like many other candidates had been. Trelia looked around at the differnet furnishings around them and it seemed that their we're different tastes involved. While she was at home it had been neat yet bare there wasn't a lot to go around on extras.

If Zayten had been a bronze rider he probably could have pulled off some classy move as the girl bumped into him and grabbed onto his arm. Instead all he could do was try not to run into Trelia and knock them all over. He managed to steady himself and grabbed Laure, trying to help her stay on her feet. Zayten gave the shorter woman a slightly odd look, wondering why she was apologizing so much before shaking his head and laughing a little. “Relax it’s fine.”
He didn’t recognize Laure instantly and gave her a quick look over, frowning a bit at what he saw and realized that while he had never seen the girl before he did know who she was. It paid to have sisters who were such gossips. Without a moments hesitation, he hooked his arms around Laure’s and Trelia’s, forcing them both to come with him. “You’re coming with us Laure. I haven’t had the chance to actually meet you yet buuut I have sisters who are friends with a certain bronze rider.” He gave Laure a friendly grin as he looked around the hall before he continued to drag the girls off to a table. “I’d love to hear what actually happened. I have a feeling you exaggerate slightly less then B’ren does. Oh and I’m Zayten, this is Trelia,” He nodded his head towards the girl on his other arm.
“And this is Eira.” The young man had finally come to a stop at a table. Not one of the empty ones, oh no, Zayten was not that boring. Instead, he had picked a table where a girl sat by herself, reading over some paper she had borrowed from the Weyr’s library while she enjoyed a cup of klah and a snack. Eira likely had no idea who he was, the age difference was enough that they wouldn’t have hung out on Eira’s visits to the Weyr. But Zayten bugged the candidate master almost daily to hear of any new candidates and did remember some of Eira’s visits that had ended with her trying to catch B’ren after he had played one of his annoying pranks on her.
Ignoring the confused look on Eira’s face, Zayten sat down, making the other two sit down with him before he finally let go of them. Now that they were all sitting, he went over the names again, pointing at each person as he went. “Laure, Eira, Trelia, Zayten.” He gave them all a happy and pleasant smile, as if this sort of thing was normal for the Weyr. “See Trelia, I told you there were more candidates around here. And two girls too! And Laure, after this you have to come back to the candidate barrack with me. Who ever gave you those clothes needs to be kicked. Much too big for you. I’ll have to see if I can’t find something a little smaller for you. Or at least adjust the hem lines a bit so it looks a little more flattering… The same goes for you and that skirt Eira. That lower hem line just isn’t right. And it’s just not proper for two of our candidates to be dressed in something that isn’t perfect. Especially our female candidates.” He made a slight tisk-tisk sound as he shook his head.

Eira had been practically kicked out of her aunt's 'home' shortly after breakfast when she tried to slip back in there and be away from all of the other weyr people. To say the least her plan of spending a 'quiet' afternoon was unsuccessful and even the Healers were a part of her Aunt's plan of getting the girl to make some friends. The moment Eira shown up to help out in the Infirmary, the healers turned her right around and out the door. Even her short visit to the Weyr library did not last long and Eira was practically forced to go to the Weyrhall even if Dinner was several candle-marks away.
At least there weren't too many people around and it was actually quieter than she would think it would be. There were some people chatting with their friends but, it wasn't loud like the main meals often were. For now, the young woman made herself comfortable with a cup of Klah and a bubbly pie as a little snack before opening up the paper on whatever medical mumbo jumbo it was about. She didn't notice how Laure tripped and Zaten helped the poor girl out. Simply because Eira didn't really know any of them and was enthralled with the medical know how she enjoyed learning about.
That was what she was doing up until she heard her name and a confused look crossed her face as she looked up at the three. “Excuse me..?” The young woman asked slowly. What with their age difference she wouldn't of been around him during her past visits to the Weyr or after she moved there permanently. There were times she was found chasing after B'ren for some prank he pulled though, that wasn't fully uncommon seeing as she known the bronze rider since they were children. A brow disappeared into her hair line as she raised it at the younger teenagers.
At the introductions she nodded in slight greeting. “Nice to meet you?” Why did she have a feeling her afternoon was going to be spent being dragged around by the three now? Or more likely by Zayten who from the looks of things, was already doing some dragging around. Her second eyebrow disappeared up into her hairline as the boy went on to mention that her own skirt wasn't hemmed right and that it wasn't proper for two of the candidates to be dressed in something that was not perfect, especially the female candidates. “I can always fix it later...” Eira voiced, her words soft seeing as know one else seemed to noticed the skirt. She didn't even notice it till he pointed out and it was something she could fix later on if her aunt would let her do so before dinner.
Either way, she was having a feeling Zayten was not going to let her go off on her own. Honestly she hoped her aunt didn't mean this by friends.

Trelia smiled at the ongoing conversation between the three and smiled at Zayten. He was very outgoing and seemed to just want to meet everyone. When he commented on the girl's clothing she kept her mouth shut because her own clothes we're plain to. "Zayten," said Trelia in a whisper as she looked at him surprised that someone was being that honest. She had noticed that about him that he was very honest and had to admire that. "It's okay for now," said Trelia with a calm sweet smile to the other girl and hoped this didn't make a bad impression.
The candidate didn't want other mad at her because it was hard enough fitting in somewhere new. She said, "Let's just sit down," motioning towards the tables and hoped that she didn't upset anyone. Trelia was not self consiouess yet she wasn't that honest about her thoughts either. It was sometimes good to keep one's mouth shut in matter then voice them. A fact that had been learned at home when her father had taught her to respect her elders early.

The worst, which she had been waiting for, never came. Instead the young man looked her over a moment and then went on in a merry, engaging fashion and began a conversation with her. "Oh? B'ren did seem the type to spin a good tale." Laure had never spoken much at home. No one liked to hear what she had to say. Here at the Weyr women could speak as freely as men and about any topic they pleased. While at the Weyr she would be encouraged to talk of things that once would have gotten her into quite a bit of trouble.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Zayten." She said as the smile forming on her lips lit up her dark eyes. Turning to Trelia, "And you as well, Trelia." Laure would remember the two of them for a long time even if they never met up again. When they arrived at the table Zayten led them to, she saw the confused look on Eira's face and wondered if she would be unwelcome now. Eira it seemed was just as kind and open-hearted as Zayten and Trelia were. "Pleased to meet you Eira." Laure said, her voice light. Then following Trelia's suit, sat down directly across from Eira.
Eira was a very tall young woman to Laure's eyes. Zayten seemed to tower over her and even Trelia had a few inches on her. She felt rather small in their company. literally and figuratively. When Zayten brought up clothing, she looked down at the coarse working dress she was wearing. Earlier that day she had been so happy to have a well made garment.
"Oh. I had not thought about it like that." She bit her bottom lip lightly and frowned. There was nothing wrong with it to her inexperienced eye. It was comfortable. This would be considered quality clothing where I'm from." And again, she was not going to say exactly where that was.

Zayten waved off both Eira and Trelia. He clearly wasn’t trying to be mean or snotty. But he knew that looking nice was important, if nothing else it gave someone a little more confidence if they looked good. “Nonsense. Both of you,” He pointed at Eira and Laure, once again looking them over and shaking his head a little. “You two aren’t from a Weyr, you need to be paying attention to lessons and getting to know people. Trelia and I have at least gone through this stuff before. Well I have, I actually don’t know about Trelia. Did you get to see a hatching at Haven? Or have to do candidate lessons? But anyways, both of you need to hand those things over to me the first chance you have. And maybe some of your things as well Trelia, I’ll have to look through them a bit.”
He rubbed his hands together, clearly enjoying the plans he was already making. He stopped though when he saw the little frown that formed on Laure’s mouth and his own lips turned down before he reached over and gave the woman a hug. Personal space was not something Zayten was aware of. “Oh sweetie, the clothing is fine. It’s just too big on you.” He pinched the sleeve of her shirt, pulling it out all the way and shaking his head a little. “You’re half starved and already short, you shouldn’t be wearing something that hangs off you like this. It makes you look even smaller. If I can’t find you something in your size then I’ll just have to settle for making some adjustments. Plus,” He glanced around real quick before lowering his voice. “This shirt makes you look flat chested.” He looked utterly embarrassed at having to say it and gave her another hug before quickly continuing on before she could get too upset with him. “I don’t expect everyone to dress like my half-sisters do but we can easily adjust the top so it flatters your figure a little more. All three of you are much to pretty to let ill shaped clothing stop you from looking nice. Especially since one of you might get the gold egg.”

Trelia listened to him as she put her head on her hands and shook her head this man was very honest. She was beat red and didn't say anything else as he went on about clothing. "I went to lessons at home and though never attended a hatching," said Trelia as she looked at the other two girls. He was just very excited about clothes and it made Trelia just shake her head. The young woman had learned how to make her own clothing and adjust it. When one lived on a farm they didn't have the option of running to someone else and was very self sufficient in that area. "I guess I could give you some of them," said Trelia curious to see what he might come up with and just sighed.
It seemed that the Laure girl was getting upset and hoped that she was getting angry with them. Trelia said, "I'm sure that your good at adjusting clothes and we probably will need some new dresses or something better for the tapping ceremony,". The tapping ceremony of the previous weyrlings was soon and didn't want to look a mess. She had a red dress that just hung close enough to her body and was very tasteful it had been a gift from her parents when she left. "Do you guys have special clothes that your going to wear," asked Trelia as she looked at them wondering what they might wear? The dress was a great gift because there was little to go around on their small farm.

Eira raised a brow at the quiet Trelia, it wasn't like the girl was the one who spoke up about the crooked hem on her skirt. Really, it was something that she just didn't notice when she got dressed this morning and she didn't understand why Zayten was turning it into a bigger problem than he was. While she didn't grow up in the Weyr, she had visited plenty. ”My lessons are going fine.” The young woman voiced slowly. ”It's not like I'm completely unaware what goes on here.” Just because she did not grow up here, it did not mean she was clueless. While she didn't believe the boy was being snotty, she did think he wasn't being very bright and assuming that those who didn't grow up in the Weyr did not know anything. ”I've said it earlier, but I can fix the hem of my skirt later.” It really wasn't that important was it?
Glancing away from Zayten, she looked towards the other girls who she would be towering over if it wasn't for the fact she was sitting down. Frowning as Laure seemed a little bit upset about her clothes, they really weren't horrible on her either. Just too big. He's right you know, if it's taken in a couple of inches here and there it would be fine.” Eira mentioned slowly. ”Maybe make a belt to bring in your waist.” It was a light suggestion seeing as she could easily hear Zayten when he spoke of flattering figures. Eira didn't have a problem with that, she really did know how to dress herself today was just an odd day.
As Trelia asked her question, she nodded her head slowly. ”Yeah, I have a couple of dresses in mind. Not entirely sure which one to wear yet though.” She had some very nice dresses that were her mothers, but, she had a dress that was just for her that was particularly nice. Her clothes were honestly the least of her worries when it came down to the tapping ceremony. ”It's not like it's happening tonight and I'm really not worried about it.” Honestly, she had it narrowed down to a green and a blue dress but she just wasn't sure yet. The plan had been to try both on and do a little show for her great Aunt to figure out what one was nicer.
