((As I do not play the Gold and do not have permission to do so, this will be told from the point of view of a narrator.))
The great Queen had gone from her ledge early that morning as the Weyr waited with much impatience and excitement for the beginning of new life. The Eggs came from the Queen in a specific order which no one at the Weyr would be aware of.
"The Ram, the Bull, the Heavenly Twins,
And next the Crab, the Lion shines,
The Virgin and the Scales.
The Scorpion, Archer, and the Goat,
The Man who holds the Watering Pot,
And Fish with glittering scales. "
The Courageous Pioneer Egg came to being first, average in size being neither large nor small. What the egg contained would be a mystery until the Hatching. The gray shell of this egg sends a more ominous feeling than the others. Dark maroon specks seem to cover the egg but only one cluster in particular would grab one's attention. The first noticeable thing was the large slightly askew triangle on the right which was almost perpendicular to another smaller triangle on the left. The image reminding one of some sort of animal. The image is known on Earth as Aries. When approaching this egg one feels strength, assertiveness and impatience. There is no doubt the dragon inside has a mind of its own.
The second egg to arrive was small, possibly one of the smallest of the clutch. Among the other eggs, The Beastly Stubborn Egg is easily missed. From the small size to the muddy brown color of the shell. The eggs speckling is an indigo color and the shape almost unmistakable. Its definitely the form of an animal with four legs, long horns or ears, a triangle shape for the face. If one uses the imagination it would look very near to what it is known as on Earth. Taurus, the zodiac sign also known as the bull. This egg gives off a feeling of determination and resourcefulness. Although these are mixed with feelings of self indulgence.
Third to be brought before the world is the third largest egg of the clutch. The Social Butterfly Egg is a bright green on one side and a muted green on the other as if the egg was dyed two different colors. The duality makes the speckling less apparent on the egg, but there are faint gray specks all around the shell. Both sides show the same grouping of dots. The shape if the dots are connected looks like two people walking hand in hand. Gemini as it is called on Earth, also known as the Twins. The dual nature does not stop at the shell. The whole feeling the egg puts off is changeable and sensitive. This duality also sends a feeling of frivolity.
The Camouflaged Defense Egg colored like the sands it was sitting on was hard for most people to see from a distance. In fact the egg hid quite well even up close. The speckling on the average sized egg was nowhere near easy to discern. The fact that the egg was so well hidden was much more interesting than the shape of the specks on the shell although the tiny black specks might make it easier to identify the egg up close. The shape was almost that of a k lying on the open side. On Earth it is called Cancer, or the Crab. Unlike the other eggs, this one puts up a wall which makes it hard to discern what the egg is emoting. Obviously it wants to be left alone for now.
Second largest egg on the Sands, this egg's coloring rivals that of the others. A deep forest green covers the egg, with beautiful golden specks all around the top of the egg. Staring with what looks like the top of a curved cane the shape of the specks begins to take form. Following from there as if drawing a line one can see an almost straight connection between the dots. This culminates in what looks a like a large triangle (very odd). This constellation is known to all on Earth as Leo. A feeling of arrogance and pride emanates from the dark shell of The King of the Jungle Egg. A magnanimous kind of generosity follows though it seems a bit contradictory.
What could be better than a large egg? A large, golden hued egg. The Maiden of the Sky Egg, is more Golden than the sun that shines and the largest egg in the clutch. The only golden shell makes it easy to determine that this egg contains a Queen. As if the size and presence of the egg were not telling enough. The egg awes from afar and also intrigues when up close. From a distance all one can see is the almost blinding shade of Gold on the shell. However, upon closer inspection one notices the dark blue dots on the egg forming the look of a sideways "y" with a long tail. The constellation is known on Earth as Virgo. This egg gives off feelings of practicality and efficiency. Also the feeling of being analyzed sweeps through those who dare approach her.
The shell of this egg is a lavender color with swirls of light blues and pinks, almost like high clouds during a sunrise. Although about the same size as many of the other eggs the distinct coloring of The Harmonious Justice Egg does stand out. The speckling of the egg is a deep velvety purple, ((which makes the writer think of a royal robe or throne...though its up to your own interpretation so why should I be letting you know what I am thinking?)) As decidedly pretty as the shell is its hard to make out what the connections from the dots are. The almost square is sitting askew with two lines coming off the bottom at opposite sides. This sign is known as the scales or Libra by Earthlings. Despite the shell's coloring the feelings coming from within are not centered on vanity. An indecisiveness is what one first feels, followed by a respect for the person approaching. The egg also imparts a feeling of kindness.
There is nothing about this egg that does not draw one in. The flashy red coloring of the shell, the average size, the passionate feeling surrounding the vibrancy. The Passionate Feeling Egg has no trouble getting attention. The speckles on the egg are a golden hue, with white centers. The shape on the egg from connecting these speckles is that of a diamond shape followed by a long tail. In fact it sort of looks like a kite. On Earth this is known as Scorpio or the Scorpion. The egg gives off strong feelings of focus, passion and perceptiveness.
A good size neither very large nor very small, The Wise Adventurer Egg does not seem to stand out from the crowd physically. Midnight blue with tan colored dots, like the others the dots make a vivid shape. In fact the most interesting feature is the shape on the side of the egg. At first its hard to make out but if one looks long enough the bow is easily visible. The shape when the dots are connected is that of a person holding a bow. It is in fact the shape of a Hunter, also known as Sagittarius by Earth dwellers. The egg gives off feelings of wisdom and restlessness. More than either is a feeling of a need for adventure.
Again its hard to discern whether this egg contains a large or a small dragon. Although the egg is out a bit farther than the others of the clutch. The shell of the egg is orange with dark blue speckles. Connecting the dots for this egg, also appears to be an animal, with a triangular head and a line coming from there to point straight out. Representing horns most likely, the image is that of a goat. what Earthlings know as Capricorn. The Disciplined Solo Egg, has an aloof feeling to it as it also gives off nothing but indifference towards those who approach. Although power and intellect seem to also stem from the inside of the bright shelled egg.
The Opinionated Freedom Egg has a shell of deep blue, the color of the ocean in a temperate climate on a sunny day. Speckling on the shell is opalescent and forms a unique shape of its own. The distinct form of a human holding a watering can is easily discerned upon examining the blue shell. This is known as Aquarius or the Water Bearer on Earth. Despite the easy markings, the feelings the egg puts out are much more complex. There is a sense of logical intellect about the egg. Although its assertive independence is rather off putting seeing as all this feeling is coming from an unborn dragonet.
Smallest of the clutch, the last egg of the day and more importantly the culmination of a wonderful clutch. The shell of the small egg is a swirling of light blues and greens with a sheen almost silvery. The Sensitive Dreamer Egg has speckling as well but the colors are hard to see, as they mix with the others, a light yellow shape is formed from the specks that are visible. The image is a sideways "V" with a circle on one arm and a triangle on the other. The represents two fish swimming towards one another's tails known on Earth as Pisces. The egg itself emits a dreamy happy feeling, as if the rose colored glasses are always on. There is an evident sense of compassion and caring coming from the egg.
As the last egg dried, everyone was asked to leave the Hatching Cavern. The Queen of Refuge was tired and deserved a rest. Tonight there would be feasting for the humans but the dragons would be diligently watching over the newest additions to their kind.
