Rinkin was walking onto the hatching sands and had to sigh as he looked around. The weaver had a dream of impressing a dragon and smiled a little thinking about it. He knew that the queen had risen and wondered when the clutch would be laid on the sands. While his hand went through his hair and looked around knowing that how important this clutch was to improve hope. The queen deaths had taken a lot out of the weyrs and these new clutches would provide hope that there was still a future for them. It made no difference what color he impressed though he had a great respect for brown dragons and would love to have one of them.
"I hope it is soon," said Rinkin as he just folded his arms and let the warm air brush against him. He wanted to fly and just closed his eyes imagining it never really paying attention to anything else around him. Rinkin just kept thinking about the eggs that the gold dragon might lay and what it might be like to be a dragon rider. His future had to be more then just a weaver and wanted to fight thread. A warmer breezes brought him back and looked around it had only been about a turn and a half since the last clutch it was time.

As the young man came onto the Hatching Sands, Kyrah crouched low, watching the young man's every move. What in the name of Faranth's Golden Egg was he doing here? More importantly who the Fall was he? Kyrah being the typical Dragon Shield member was not fond of spending time with or around other people. Part of the job seperated one from others and most Shield members were simply introverts to begin with. Kyrah often used her time at the Weyr to practice training her firelizard Eve and her Feline, Leeto.
Eve sat perched on her small shoulder, twining her tail down the red head's arm. Leeto on the other side of Kyrah crouched low, as if waiting for her command to pounce. This would be a good opportunity to practice. Although she would probably scare the young man shitless. Eh, it was worth whatever punishment they might see fit to give her. Signaling the feline to advance she watched as the large beast sprinted towards the young man.
Within seconds he was upon him and had begun to circle the youth. She would not allow Leeto to gran anything. He was never trained to attack people while at the Weyr. Kyrah did not want to risk him hurting an innocent person. He was still intimidating. The largest of his litter, he was all muscle and definately male. A loud growl escaped the felines great maw. After signaling her feline, Kyrah had followed, running at full speed. Nowhere near as fast as the feline but quick as can be for a human. "Who are you? Why are you here? Answer quickly, he waits only for my command."

Rinkin was taken back as a large feline came towards him and then grew a little nervous as it started to size him up as if looking at dinner. He looked at the woman infront of him who was speaking then said, "Rinkin I'm a candidate I just came down to look at the hatching sands,". The young man looked at the woman and kept a wearied look on the cat that was looking at him. "Can you call your cat back," asked Rinkin with catching the woman's eyes and kept his eyes on the cat. "I'm not very fond of being sized up for dinner," said Rinkin as he tried to keep calm. It was hard with a massive cat going around him in circles yet he kept his breathing even.
He wasn't going to be frightened by a over grown house cat and then folded both of his arms. Rinkin had grown up in the small cot hold and was used to the different animals that tended to run across Pern. While he eyed the beast and ran a hand through his hair and looked at the woman not daring to back down. "Call him back," said Rinkin as he looked at her in the eyes and wasn't going to be intimdated by anyone especially this cat.

Kyrah was hardly appeased by his answer and she did not like when people demanded things of her. "I will decide when Leeto should be called off. After all you are the one intruding here." The red haired woman was not the kind to back down. What was said about red heads was mostly true when it came to Kyrah. She was hot tempered and stubborn. "As if he would be interested in eating a young Candidate."
Leeto was trained not to be violent towards people but the Candidate would not know of this training. Kyrah worked very hard on her skills which involved training her pets. Eve had become one of the best messengers Shield had, due to Kyrah's diligence. Taking another step forward she had Leeto stop pacing but he stood staring at the young man with yellow green eyes.
"I need proof that you are who you say you are. Rinkin, Dragon Candidate. What is the purpose of looking at the Hatching Sands when there is nothing on them? You could very well be a Holdless spy." She was completely serious about that. Why would anyone come down there but the Shield and the riders. Unless they were planning something. Kyrah was easily suspicious of people already.
After what happened at Haven she was even more so. It had become difficult for her to separate work from leisure. Ky was at a point where work was life. Both of which she took seriously. This boy had no business here. She had half a mind to bring him to the Headwoman now and have her deal with his possible Holdless involvement.

Rinkin listened to the woman for a moment then eyed the beast that had finally had backed down and was just staring him down. He looked at her then noticed how beautiful the woman was and smiled a little besides his heart beating a mile a minute. When she demanded proof of what he was and then looked around for a moment. "Well, I don't have anything except the clothes on my back and you can just ask the candidate master that the best answer I can give," said Rinkin folding his arms and looking at her. He didn't have a special something to prove who he was like a pet or dragon just his word. "I came down because I had never been down here before and wanted to see it," said Rinkin as he looked at her.
She was very beautiful and the temper was something that made him smile at her. Rinkin had only a few crushes in his life and had been engaged once though that had ended when the woman had been proven to love someone else. The young man stared her down and smiled for a second then dared her to try something. He wasn't the type to back down and wouldn't start now just because some woman with a overgrown cat was threatening him. "Go on take me away you'll just be wasting your time and I won't repair any of your clothes if you every bring them to me because I've been repairing the clothes for the weyr the last few months," said Rinkin then controlled his fear in his voice.

Her eyes were set, harder than stone. She did not entirely believe him however, she had no proof that he was not who he said he was. Eriol would be displeased with her if she damaged a Candidate. If she let him go and something happened to Aeriath she would never forgive herself. Better to send Eve with a message to the Candidate Master. "That will do." She said, sending the Firelizard to the Candidate Barracks.
"She'll be back very quickly." Kyrah said, pleased with the progress she had made in training the Gold firelizard. She was probably the best trained Firelizard at the Weyr but then, Kyrah spent most of her free time training her feline and her firelizard. Leeto was exactly where she told him to be and had not moved an inch. Not a muscle twitching or even a bored yawn. He was focused. Kyrah could pride herself in knowing how successful she had been at training her pets.
As he brought up clothes, she almost gave out a sardonic laugh. "You think I would trust anyone to handle my clothes?" Kyrah and the rest of the Shield were a paranoid lot. There were few people she would trust to make adjustments to her clothing. One of them was herself the other was her mother and possibly the other shield members if all else failed.
Kyrah was not sure she liked the way he was looking at her. It made her uncomfortable. The sooner this was all sorted out the better. Eve Betweened back into the Cavern at that moment. Confirming that he was a Candidate. "Alright, Dragon Candidate Rinkin, you can go. I suggest you not come here again unless invited by Queen Aeriath or Weyroman Raelwyn."

He listened to her talk and smiled a little clearly enjoying the view of the woman. Rinkin watched the cat and the young fire lizard was sent away to check on his story. The candidate was not having good thoughts of the woman and was just smirking. When the gold fire lizard returned and gave him directions not to return unless invited. "That won't be a problem my lady," said Rinkin with a cocky attitude and then bowed towards her. His body language showed that he didn't really respect her as much was attracted to her.
Rinkin smiled a little then looked one last look at the sands and realized that he would be back soon enough. He had heard that he would long for these days after having to bathe and oil a baby dragon. The candidate welcomed hard work and smiled at her then said, "I'll see you around," then though hopefully she'll to be more relaxed. While he walked away content with the knowledge the weyr had attractive women afterall.
