The coroner will find ink in my veins and blood on my typewriter keys. - C. Astrid Weber 56 members • 12,000+ posts Synthetic Truth is a community designed for every kind of writer. We're always looking for novelists, poets, roleplayers, fanfiction authors; anyone, really, who enjoys writing. You don't have to be an aspiring novelist, but you do need to be willing to contribute to an active network of writers of every sort. It is our goal to have something for everyone. We offer portfolios, critique and feedback, challenges and tournaments, member battles, word wars, and resources submitted by both staff and members: prompts, writing guides, exercises, and templates. We have a library for member work and an area for shared stories such as roleplaying and round robins. And we're always looking to add new features, to grow and improve. We need you. A community of writers is nothing without a wide array of members. We value diversity, and we would like nothing better than to have a network of writers from every genre so that not only can each member can find someone who shares her tastes, but there are writers whose strengths can help others improve their weaknesses. And, unlike many writing websites, we strive to make as much of our community visible to guests as possible without endangering the work of our members. So, while we keep our members' writing private, you can still see the overall organization of ST, peek through our writing resources, and even get a feel for member activity by browsing member portfolios.

A fantastic update! Total Members: 61 Total board Posts: 15,800+ NEW SynTru Blog+ Deviant Art+ Twitter+ Facebook+ In-Character Cbox+ March Monthly Challenge Due 4/6 - This challenge is going to be about taking a character who is either: A.) Living on a different planet/world B.) Is a character from another book/movie/etc. or C.) Is living on Earth in a different time period (both past and future will work). As you may have already guessed, for this challenge you are going to take one of these characters and bring them to a New World. Specifically, somewhere on the earth today.
+ Whole New World Due 3/25 - This challenge is going to be about taking a character who is either: A.) Living on a different planet/world B.) Is a character from another book/movie/etc. or C.) Is living on Earth in a different time period (both past and future will work). As you may have already guessed, for this challenge you are going to take one of these characters and bring them to a New World. Specifically, somewhere on the earth today.
+ Current Daily Challenges Due 3/7 - The daily challenges are just things that you can do whenever before they're due. Which means you can do all, some, or one before their due date, after which we'll post new challenges. They usually run either a week, which means you have 7 days to do 7, or recently we've been running them for 2 weeks, which gives you 14 days to do 7 challenges
+ Journalistic Endeavors Due 4/15 - One of the most fascinating things about characters is how alive and real they can be. With thoughts, wishes, feelings, and dreams all their own. This very nature is what will connect a reader to a character, and thus a story, or turn them away from it. There are countless memes, questionnaires, prompts, and the like that will help you delve into a character. This is something a little more. This challenge is extended because we're going to put together quite a bit of a single character's journal. If you finish this challenge, you'll be considered a winner.
+ Letter to...[ 2 Part Challenge ] Due 3/20 - Part One: For this Challenge, your character is to write a letter to anyone about anything. The setting is utterly up to you, as are the contents of the letter. Part Two: Now, with the letter sent and recieved to it's intended, it's time to respond to the letter. Using the character with whom the first letter was written, respond to the message. Or, if the letter is meant to convey information only, write out how the charcater responds to the information within it even if they do not intend on writing back.
+ Writing Contest Revolving Rounds - This contest is open to everyone, and consists of multiple rounds. There's no set number of those rounds, as it simply continues with each winner. The concept is that each round will have a judge who assigns prompts, and everyone who wants to enter writes a short piece according to those prompts and the parameters set by the judge. The judge can give you only one prompt, several to choose from, or several that you have to combine in some fashion. Each round must have a minimum of three entries. Once the round is closed by the judge, they pick a winner, and that winner gets to judge the next round. Each round should only last a day or so.
+ Weekly Writer Award - That means writing 1000 words every day for 7 days. Doesn't have to be anything specific, but it does mean quite a bit more writing than what some of us usually aim for. It's supposed to be difficult. That being said, I'm opening this 'challenge' up to anyone willing to try it. Write 7 stories, either connected or utterly independent of each other, with a minimum of 1000 words in 7 days. They can be chapters, snippets, rambles. Whatever. But they must be separate entries. I.E. One chapter that consists of 2000 words does not qualify for two days.

These people would essentially be creating their own RP to be hosted by SynTru and advertised along side the writing community! Please check out the Role Play section and, if it sounds like something you want to do, let us know! These should be people who have plot ideas for an RP and want to run their own forum on Synthetic Truth dedicated to such.

The Completion Challenge is designed to help you reach your goal of finishing whatever story has been pestering you. In taking on the Completion Challenge, you are agreeing to choose a story and finish it by the end of August. This gives you three months. You can choose any story you want, but make sure it's something you think you can finish in three months. It can be as long or as short as you want, but you should estimate a word or page count as a way of marking your progress. As a suggestion, particularly if you are choosing a shorter story to complete, you might include as part of your Completion Challenge the goal of submitting it to a contest or publisher of your choice. Finally, during the last week of August, we will work out small workshop groups or partnerships for anyone who wants help revising their completed story. These workshops will take place after the Summer of Writing ends, sort of as a way to make sure your freshly completed stories don't rotate to the back burner once all the festivities are done.
