Appearance: (Face Claim: Dallas Bryce Howard)
Kyrah is tough young woman with a body built for combat. She is no stick figure to be broken though she may look it. She is neither tall nor is she short at about 5'7”. Kyrah does not intend to grow any taller. Being so young and so active has created a less than full woman's figure. Her breasts are small and barely noticeable with what she wears. In fact her body is not at all what people first notice about the girl. Mostly she appreciates this fact but at times she wishes not to be looked at as just one of the guys.
She has red curly hair that frizzes in the mugginess of the South. Kyrah has it cut short so it will not get in her way. Blue eyes peer out of a seemingly pure face. Her pale skin and wide eyes give her the look of some fey creature out of a tale. Her nose is long and well shaped. Though her mouth is wide it is well shaped with somewhat puffed lips though not overly so for her face. She has an oval shaped head, with a rounded chin. Her expression is usually serious which makes her lips pout.
Although her mother has protested time and again the only thing Kyrah will wear are men's clothes. She has an all black outfit she wears for work as a Weyr Guard. Her casual clothing consists of a size too large pair of tan pants that catch in the breeze so that they seem to flow and a well fitted dark blue tank top. Her southern jungle style boots are for working in and she has a pair of sandals for her free time. As for feast wear, her mother, under pain of death, has insisted she have a dress. So, Kyrah has a floor length emerald colored gown, sleeveless with a sweetheart neckline which she has yet to wear.
Personality:
Most members of Refuge and Haven Weyrs are a hard untrusting sort. Kyrah is more so than most. She does not trust the North no matter what this expedition may come to tell them. Banished as her people were, there is no doubt in her mind that the North will say whatever it takes to get them to help. Once they do who can say they will be treated civilly again. What happens when the next interval comes? She would never trust them. In fact she has trouble trusting most people outside her closest friends and family and of course the Shield. She would trust any member of the Dragon Shield with her life.
Kyrah, being a woman, is expected to be a warm, comforting sort but that is just not who she is. So you aren't feeling well, suck it up and be strong. She dislikes whining, complaining and anyone who thinks to pull rank on her simply because she is a woman. A hard person to get to know she reveals little of her self to any one. Even her closest and most trusted friends do not know what secrets lie in her heart. She does share her opinions on things even when they are not wanted because she is passionate about things that are important to her.
Her passionate nature makes her very temperamental. She can go from cool and collected to hot headed and shouting in about three seconds. They do say that red heads have a temper and Kyrah is one of the worst. When things are not going the way she wants she gets very angry and her face flushes to almost the color of her hair. Kyrah is generally at her worst though when she seems to be behaving her best. She has absolutely no sense of etiquette and is a complete loss when it comes to proper decorum. In fact she can be fairly crude and act like on of the guys. They have accepted this too as they seem to treat her as one of the guys in the Shield.
However she may present herself she is a rather hard person to get along with. She is stubborn and argumentative. While she does respect authority she will argue a point even at the risk of punishment if she believes she is right. Kyrah is not looking to get involved romantically with anyone which is best considering most the men residing at the Weyr are related to her in some way or another. Besides men tended to want to control women where they could and Ky was much too used to her freedom in the Guard to submit to anything of the kind.
Kyrah is awful at games as she has a hard time being easy. The only people she feels entirely comfortable with are in the Shield. They don't have good wine in the South so she generally steers clear of it. Klah is okay but she prefers juice or water. When she does drink, on rare occasions she generally drinks to get drunk and she is always with the members of the Shield whom she trusts not to take advantage of her inebriated state. With people she trusts she is a smiling, happy warm hearted person who enjoys a good joke. However these days the world has gotten more dangerous and because of this danger she feels the need to be on her guard more than usual.
Hobbies/Skills: Combat - all forms, tracking, Firelizard Training.
Pets: Gold Firelizard: Eve (5) , Feline Cub: Leeto (3)
Cub #2: The Teddy Bear
Gender: Male
Description: This guy is big. Probably the biggest feline cub anyone at the Weyr has ever seen. His growth rate will be fast so anyone who handles him will have a great big kitty on their hands. He's sure to grow to be largest of all the feline cubs. Whether this will make him exceptional at anything is hard to say. Certainly size means power but not necessarily intelligence. His markings are well defined and he has some of the best markings of his litter. His eyes are a greenish gold and often hold a look of indolence.
Personality: Ever thought of a great big dog being a lap dog? Well this is a great big feline who thinks he should be. His favorite thing to do, besides eat would be to sleep. Not just short little naps either. This boy sleeps for candlemarks on end and has a hard time being motivated to play. Besides his litter mates are rather annoying. He has better things to do...like lounge on a sunning ledge, or watch the water ripple on the lake. For all his lazing about, he is a rather powerful boy. His size makes him stronger than the others, which he will use to his advantage when he does play.
Owner/Handler: Kyrah (HG)
Adult pic. If wanted:
History:
Most births at the Weyr were considered good. Since coming to the Southern Continent their numbers had diminished. The inbreeding at the Weyr caused much concern for anyone bearing children as this increased possible complications. Despite all of this they seemed to survive , Kyrah was one such child. There was nothing unusual about the girl. Her hair was the color of flame and she seemed to have a lot to say about everything from sleeping to feeding. Her mother had a hard time raising her to a toddler. Enough that it eventually became a two person job taking care of the girl. Ky's uncle, Kylen stepped in to be father to the young child. Where Kyrah and her mother had nothing in common, she and her uncle actually did.
Despite the Creche raising her, it was really Kylen who taught the girl the things she deemed important in life. Strength, intelligence and above all how to choose one's friends wisely. She grew up always a little cautious of other people and never fully able to trust someone she just met. Even people she has known for Turns have trouble breaking into the inner Kyrah. A person who is something more than she seems on the outside.
At three Turns old her uncle already began teaching her about fighting and noticing the little details. Though she took everything he taught her to heart she picked up on some things on her own which often pleasantly surprised him. Perhaps the Guard would be her calling? He could not say but at least the young girl would be prepared for the world when she grew up.
While she grew up learning combat scenarios and training, with everything being drilled into her head from communication with other Guard to learning geography and tracking, the young girl did not feel that she had a strict upbringing. By Weyr standards perhaps it was. Her uncle made sure that when it was possible she became a trainee in the Guard.
When she was fourteen she had already been training for two Turns in the guard. It was like an apprenticeship only far more physically intense than any craft. Her lithe body seemed built more for dancing than fighting but as is often the case with her, the outside was deceiving. The winner of the fight is not always the strongest person but often the faster and more intelligent person. Her uncle made her try hand to hand with some of the men in the Guard along with keeping up her normal practices. She began to excel most at ranged weapons though as her accuracy was not to be beat by any of Kylen's Guard friends.
Eriol was looking for people for a special unit called the Dragon Shield which she had heard quite a bit about. Of course she did not bother trying to talk to them about letting her in. First off she was a woman and she knew from the comments in the regular guard she would have a hard time being tried out let alone accepted and then there was the fact that they went out into the jungles. Her mother would kill her if the jungle did not. Still her uncle, wise and caring, appealed to the Leader of the Dragon Shield to give her a try.
She met the Shield for the first time at sixteen years of age. Her trial run went, excellent since her ranged prowess and tracking skills were put to good use. In the Shield people were partnered up partly for safety and partly so that the two people's skill sets could compliment each other and make for an exceptional two man team. (or woman) She was one of five women in the group of fifteen members. Their ages all varied as did personalities and for the first time in her life she felt quite at home among them. Eriol has been her partner for the last two Turns and while they have their disagreements she understands that he cares for her well being as much as she cares for his.
As his partner, when the Firelizard Eggs were being given out to train, she was given a Gold Egg. Very rare and a great honor even among this group of marvelous people. The Gold hatched and was trained by Kyrah to be one of the best messengers at the Weyr. She is intelligent and brave even for a Gold and often matches her little red head's personality.
Color Preference N/A (prefers not to impress thanks)
