Character Info:
Name: Orisyn now Or'yn
Age: 18 (update 7/7/12. Turn 1262)
Gender:male
Rank: Weyrling
Family:
Father: Orinon (44)
Mother: Niasyn (40)
Siblings:
Aisynn (20, f) Rider of Green Shivath
Appearance:
In the midst of the many light haired people at the Weyr there is at least one with truly black hair. Though its straight, he tries to keep it fairly short in the fashion more becoming a dragonrider. His brown eyes often have a little spark to them that suggests he knows exactly what he's getting himself into and theres nothing you can do or say that will stop him. His brows are a bit thick and as he is a rather lazy human being, he does not groom them to make himself appealing to women.
At his age, the last thing he wants to do is shave any facial hair that might have started growing. He might even be counting the days till he can claim more than one straggly hair growing here or there. If there were a tincture or something he could take to make his hair grow he certainly would. He still has a childlike face with rounded cheeks and unblemished skin. Freckles lightly splash his cheekbones and nose, only noticeable at close range.
He has dark lips that clash with his pale skin. Something else he laments over. How did he end up so pale in such a sunny and warm place? No matter what he does, he can not seem to tan. His heritage must be from somewhere cold, it is grossly unfair how some people with much fairer hair than himself can tan whereas he, with his ebony locks seemed to be unable to.
As is the usual he wears hand me down clothes that have seen more than one brat before him. Anything he wears does not fit him. He is too slim and small for his age. At 5'6" it seems that he is still trying to catch up to most boys his age. Its doubtful he'll even reach 5'9". Ori does not like being small and his clothes make him seem smaller. He often has to have them taken in which means a day spent with the weavers and sewers down, shut inside. His favorite pair of boots are so worn out that he knows any day now, mother will make him find new ones. He hates wearing in shoes or was it just wearing them? On an ideal, he did not get caught by mother on the way out the door kind of day, he loses his boots and wears sandals till he is out of the inner part of the Weyr. After that, all shoes are off!
Personality:
Light hearted and jovial one would be hard pressed not to like young Orisyn. Often wearing a smile on his face he is not one of those all too common, hardened people found at the Weyr. He is known to sing loud, bawdy songs that are not suited for the situation he is most likely in. More important would be to know how he has learned such songs. Orisyn is not one to really stick to the rules. He has gone out at night and joined in dragon poker games, which naturally he wins.
There is never anything for him to worry about. Its a matter of how he veiws the world. He believes that worrying changes nothing and generally stresses people out. The confident youth has no fear of what could happen. Why think about tomorrow when he had not even gotten through today? Laid back, he is unaffected by little things and seems to see the world on a larger scale.
Orisyn is always confident that not only will everything turn out how it should but that this will be in his favor. The thing is that this is backed up through his own life experiences.
He is just one of those people who things work out for. He is the guy in the story that saves the day, wins the girl and never has to buy his own drinks. There is, as always, a negative to this. In his over confidence, he has decided not to do chores unless he feels like it. Due to being well liked it is not hard for him to find someone else willing to take on some work for him. What is wrong with that? If other people want to do the work why should he begrudge them their chance? He is lazy and can often be found laying by the lake watching the crystal waters dance beneath the sun. The heat does not bother him though his skin can burn under the intense rays.
Messy and a little too carefree with his things, Orisyn is the last person you will see dressed in his finest shirt tucked in. It does not fit him one bit. He is more likely to show up to an important event wearing his usual attire. Its comfortable and he cares more about his own comfort than setting a reputation for himself. The youth is precocious and a smart alec. If he feels the need to talk to someone about something he thinks he knows a lot about, then its likely that person won't want to continue discussions further. He is very good at talking about things he knows little about. As with many people his age, he uses a good deal of sarcasm.
Orisyn looks on life with a smile in his heart and a twinkle in his eye. He is the quintessential golden boy. Everyone loves him, from cooks to candidates, from dragonriders to stable hands. The young man is well aware of his affect on people and is quite willing to use it to his advantage. If he could be anyone in the world it would be a dragon, who spends most of the day, swimming and sunning. Drills do not take the entire day and sunning is so nice.
Hobbies/Skills: reading, writing, passing work off on other people (hobby and skill?) Sunning and swimming, singing loud bawdy songs...
Pets: none
History:
Orisyn was his mother's second child but his father's first and only. What his parents have is an ideal relationship. Neither has forced the other into anything binding but they stay together because they want to. His older sister did not have a father like that. Aisynn is a pleasant girl and someone he has been very close to throughout his life though she and their mother were much closer than he was to either parent. He likes his parents well enough but like many brats partly raised by the Creche he found that any number of women were mother and any number of men were father. He looked on most adults that way.
Authority figures were never an issue for him. He was a sweet baby and grew into a smiling and kind toddler. Orisyn would hug anyone and be held by anyone without throwing a fit. He wanted the attention at that age. Being pleasant got you more goodies too! Making friends with other children as he grew older was easy. He had a few young boys he hung out with as girls carried things like cooties. This little group seemed to automatically assume that Orisyn was their leader. He often went on adventures fighting Thread on his own dragon.
A relatively normal child, Orisyn got into the normal Weyrbrat trouble. Going places he was not allowed to go, taking things that were not his and of course getting into little squabbles with others. Most fighting was not his idea. He preferred to get himself out of situations using a more diplomatic approach. At age eight he began to try his hand at different crafts and work options for when he was older. Nothing really seemed to suit him. He was determined even then that he should impress a dragon. No amount of arguing or pleading from other people could get him to change his mind. There were no dragonriders in his blood and it seemed that there was little chance for him. Although everyone else urged him to, he would not consider what would happen should he fail to impress.
As he grew older he became more likely to miss lessons and to miss chores. His parents threatened to take him out of the Weyr and give him to some outlying cothold farm. While he believed they could do it, they doubted he would. Still he knew better than to push either of them too far. Now he covers his tracks better. He goes to his lessons albeit sometimes late and sometimes he leaves early and he gets other people to do his chores for him. His sister is still a good friend and one of the few people he is very close to. He has many acquaintances but would call very few of them friends.
Now that Aeriath has risen to mate, Orisyn thinks although he is young and his chances might seem slim to the older boys that he has a chance. Impressing a dragon would be amazing. He looks forward to the moment when he can walk on the sands and see the eggs. His life is moving in the direction he knew it would. A clutch and he was of age to stand! His parents have tried to reason with him and talk to him like there is a possibility he will not impress. His whole life had taught him that he could have whatever he wanted so long as he knew it was possible.
Standing for the clutch he watched happily as his sister impressed the first dragon to hatch. He was then knocked over by a blue dragonet though he bore the dragon no ill will. They tended to be rather clumsy after they first Hatched. Although he had to say that it seemed the blue was trying to cause some chaos. He had to wait till the 12th of the Hatchlings before he impressed. Rath, the first Bronze to Hatch in his clutch appeared to be a Gold at first though it became apparent he was simply a sunny hued Bronze. He is looking forward to his life with Rath. (His mother was going to be so worried!!!)
Dragon Information
Name: Rath (Rah-th)
Impressed To: Orisyn
Color: Bronze
Age: 4 Turns
Description: Rath is a sunny hued Bronze, something he must have been given from his mother. Although the color is not truly sunny because of the bronze sheen and discoloring. He would have been a mirror image of his mother otherwise. His body length matches every part of him, perfect in its normal size. He has excellent muscle tone and a more agile body than his clutch mate who was much larger than Rath. The Bronze prides himself on being well cared for with a gleaming hide and on the fact that he looks very much his mother's son. Even his claws are a sunny golden color.
Personality: As it goes with most Bronze dragons, Rath is highly confident in his own abilities. He can come of as arrogant in his self assurance. He believes that everything he does is well thought out and fails to see how anything he says or does could come off the wrong way. He is rather oblivious to the thought of hurting other people's feelings. He is blunt and to the point and always tells the truth even if one does not want to hear it. Only his rider understands that the Bronze never means any harm when he says things. Rath is a steady Bronze with strong loyalties to those he befriends. His rider is his life, he would give his own to save him. When he has free time, the Bronze prefers to sun and chat with other dragons than to be involved in silly antics. Rath is not one to goof around as he prefers to follow the order and law of the Weyr.
There isn't a soul that will be rude or cruel to on purpose. In fact he generally likes most dragons and people who tend to like him back just as strongly. There is something inside of him people and dragons are drawn into. He is incredibly charismatic. Although he is not about to go up an nudge every human he meets, he finds most to be amiable. None would be as amiable as his own charming, if slightly disheveled looking rider. Where Rath craves order, his rider most decidedly does his best to create a less orderly life around them. The dragon seems to find it all amusing. Despite being Bronze, Rath lacks ambition. He likes his automatic rank but does not have any wish nor care to become a Wingleader or Weyrleader. Both of which would take up too much time on his well planned and busy schedule. That being said Rath is not all that interested in the Golds of Refuge. For one, Golds mean rank which he does not want. Another reason would be that he is much more interested in chasing greens. It could be that neither of those golds are his type though.
History: As Artemth found hers, the Silent Nature Blue had finished breaking his shell, now flicking his tail and shaking his limbs to rid them of the last green shards stuck to him. Finally clean, the dragonet began to approach the boys, only to snort in surprise as the Sovereign Sun Egg suddenly gave a powerful lurch forward, a huge portion of the sunny shell splattering against him and sticking against his hide. Frozen in surprise, the smallish blue abruptly heaved a huge sigh as if resigning himself to further cleaning. Meanwhile, a golden wing flared through the opening of the Sovereign Sun Egg, and a collective gasp was heard within the hatching sands. A queen?! Impossible! A powerful stroke of hind legs destroyed more of the shell, and a rather handsome dragonet appeared, built far too solid for a gold. Instead, he revealed himself to be a rather sunny-hued bronze, clearly taking after his mother in coloring. Humming at her son, Aeriath was pleased to finally see a bronze upon the sands, curious as to who would be worthy of this one. Whirling, the bronze looked sheepishly at his blue brother, chirping off an apology. Humming, the blue shook his head and began cleaning himself once more, as if to say it was no sweat. An accident is an accident, after all. Lifting his head, the bronze scurried away from his brother, approaching the candidates quickly. He practically barreled past them all, knocking Koldyn over and jarring Beleren backwards in his haste to reach His. Coming to stand before his chosen rider, the bronze gave a snort, staring at the boy. Awfully short, aren't you OrisynMine? He asked bluntly, shoving his head against his chosen and almost knocking him off his feet. No matter. Rath will get you toughened up. Let's eat, I'm starved!
