Appearance:
(Face Claim: David Beckham)
D'seus is a boyishly handsome man. He has dirty blonde hair with lighter highlights from being in the sun. He has it cut short in the style of a rider. Beneath a pair of well shaped light brown eyebrows are gray eyes in the shape of a half moon, flat side down. His gaze is often a little unnerving, a quality he uses to his advantage. His teeth are straight and white though he usually smiles without opening his lips. The features that most define his face are his high cheek bones and slightly lopsided smile.
He has a long nose though its not narrow or wide. Nostrils that don't stick out too far help to make his nose seem rather normal and proportionate to his face. He does have a wide forehead though, something his mother lamented over when he was a child. Now though it shows creases from being out in the sun. Even around his eyes are small little wrinkles, at least he can say they are the cause of working in the sun and not old age. The skin on his head, neck and hands is the darkest, though he has mildly tanned his upper body from swimming, running and laying on his dragon's ledge.
Though a rather tall man, D'seus doesn’t weigh more that 192lbs and stands roughly about 6’1”. There are taller men at the Weyr though being around average height. Like most dragonriders he does a lot to keep himself as fit as possible. He has no flabbiness to him as he is all muscle and sinew. His shoulders are broad and his hips narrow. D'seus' physique would be considered very desirable. At thirty two turns he hopes to keep it that way in the future because Faranth knows how older people tend to let themselves go.
D'seus has one scar along his upper arm from practicing dueling with other riders. He made an error and got himself slashed in the arm. This was when he was younger and more foolish. He dresses for whatever occasion he finds himself in. A chameleon of sorts D'seus knows how to look the part. When at drills he comes somewhat rugged looking with his facial hair unshaven. He would also wear worn in riding boots and black leathers that are also slightly worn. At a meeting he would be cleaner, better dressed though still retain a sense of the ruggedness that he has when with his wing.
Social occasions leave him wanting to look his very best. He can be clean cut then, very much looking the part of a dashing Bronze rider. He enjoys well made clothes but does not spend a lot of time thinking his outfits through. D'seus will wear any color but green, as that is a superstition that his mother drilled into him as a child.
Personality:
As many Bronze riders do, D'seus comes off as arrogant to those around him. He is more than self-assured, he’s almost cocky. Even the Rankers of the Weyr have their bad qualities; D'seus likes to keep things to himself and doesn’t share his feelings or thoughts with anyone outside of his closest friends and confidants. He is afraid of weakness and most importantly his own possible weaknesses.
He is calm and collected, often even thought of as cool. The Bronze rider would prefer to keep his own company than be loud and boisterous like some. He expects rank to be obeyed, especially his. If anyone were to disrespect him, he was only too likely to ruin their insignificant lives. This only proves that he doesn’t take crap from anyone. D'seus likes to have things done his way and no one else’s. Sometimes he may seem more than a little egotistical but that fades when they realize he simply wants things done right. He is a perfectionist and will spend candlemarks on one thing until it is done better than he wants it. He holds himself to those standards as well.
D'seus is not all bad, he is a wonderful Wingleader. He has a knack for wing formations and leading wings. His ability to see formations in his head and know they will work is uncanny actually and it is with this in mind the other Bronzers find him to be competition. And he is highly competitive. He would be the first person to start a my dragon is bigger than your dragon contest and to get his entire wing involved. As such he and his wing are huge rivals with all the other wings in Refuge Weyr and don't even get them started on Haven.
His opinions of the North are not good. The north sent them here to scrape out a living and he would see them punished. One day they would come asking the Weyrs for help and with his wonderful Bronze partner he would have the power to refuse. He would not be easily moved on this issue as it ingrained in him the reason for the hardness of his people and the reason for all the deaths they suffered every Turn simply trying to farm and mine for necessities. As a Wingleader he is hard on his wingriders. Some think perhaps too hard on them but he could not have them being soft.
Maybe its his smile or perhaps simply the way he can make people feel they are the only ones in the room. He has a gift with words that is really quite remarkable. Part of being a good leader is being able to communicate well. He does better than that, he is charming. More so than any man has a right to be.
Women are a wonderful gift to him. He loves them or at least he likes to make love to them. He is as chivalrous to women as he can be, which is not chivalrous really at all. One night stands do not equate to chivalry. There are of course cases where he doesn't like the woman on a personality basis. Don't expect him to be nice then or even really civil. He knows of his children but is much to busy to visit them more than on their birthing days if he even remembers that.
He wants his klah served hot without anything to make it sweeter. He likes his heavy ales and beers and even Dragon’s Breath, though he consumes it in small quantities to save him from very embarrassing mornings. Wine isn’t exactly something he likes to drink though he will have it with a meal if it is fitting to. He likes meat, especially red meat. Vegetables and tubers aren’t bad either but please keep that sweet fruity stuff away from him.
He would call himself a man of steel. He can eat anything and not feel ill to his stomach. Matter of fact he has never been ill, except maybe once with a small head cold as a child. He doesn’t get ill, which he takes to mean he is healthier than other people. Healthier often equating to better.
Excellent Qualities: Self assured, Leadership, Perfectionist, Calm, Charming
Dreadful Qualities: Aloof/Arrogant, Cold, Quiet, Womanizer, Competitive
Hobbies/Skills: Reading, writing, leadership training, General combat

History:
The Weyr is a wonderful place for children to grow up and D'seus would even agree that he had a normal well rounded childhood. He was his mother's first child and though he rarely saw his father, he knew of him. Dragonriders were not all that interested in their offspring other than being able to claim that they had them. Of course they had bragging rights later if the children impressed. Not something that Deseus was all that happy about when he was young but now he is more understanding of this.
He was an intelligent boy growing up and learned quite a lot from his mother, who despite her status was a cheerful, sweet natured and charming woman. She could talk to anyone about anything and come out having a roomful of admirers. It is no wonder that Deseus learned to be just as charming. His good nature is not as hers is but he has much more pressure on him than his mother did in the kitchens. Despite being able to charm people, he was not always a good child. He got into a fair amount of trouble as a young boy. Mostly normal Weyrbrat things, sneaking out of the Weyr, climbing walls, playing pranks on other children. He had a group of boys he was friends with growing up and still keeps in touch with a couple of them.
His brother Denrik was born when he was five. Despite feeling slightly jealous at times, Deseus knew his mother did love him and never felt slighted really. Babies did take up a lot of time though, in his opinion. His little brother soon became his little shadow and he taught him everything he knew. When he was eight, Ariden was born, his second little brother. Somehow this time he seemed less bothered by it all but of course, Denrik had to get used to the new addition. Their mother, was always sweet as a bubbly pie to them and all three of them were her little men. You could tell just by seeing her with them that they were the most important things in her life. Deseus would still do anything for his mother that she asked him to.
As he grew older he began to train with Weyr Guard and his brothers followed him, as they always did. He was fairly proficient but not as good as his brothers. This bothered him on some level. Still he was their fearless leader and refused to give up. Till he was sixteen and was Searched. Not something that needed to be done at the Weyr but he was not in the Weyr when he was Searched. He was training outside of the Weyr near a small farming cothold about a two candlemark walk from the Weyr.
The blue dragon seemed quite adamant that he stand, Despite his concern that he would be missing out on further training in a field that he could certainly succeed in Deseus decided that any chance at a dragon was better than being a Weyrguard. He talked with his mother about it who agreed that he should become a Candidate. His brothers thought about standing too but they were fairly certain that they had already found their callings. He was a Candidate for all of three months before the Hatching day came.
Deseus, now seventeen wore white robes on the most important day of his young life. The crowds were excited as it was not every day one attended a Hatching. The noise although loud was muffled to him. He could only focus on the shaking eggs. He saw an egg crack suddenly and knew it was too large to be anything but Bronze. It was all Deseus could do to not run for the Bronze. Instead he walked like a man in a trance, numb to the world. Even as his eyes met Zorometh's it took him a moment too long to do what the little dragon wanted. D'seus. Feed me. Zorometh is hungry. The commands were a little odd coming from one so young. Hmm well who was he to be ordered about? D'seus was completely taken off guard when Zorometh took his robes in his mouth and began to drag him much to the pleasure of onlookers. “Oh, right. This way Zorometh.” Your highness!
The Bronze did not take those comments to heart as in moments he was gobbling as much meat as he possibly could. Throughout Weyrling Training they were a good pair, intelligent, calm, never panicky in the slightest. They remembered things well and got along with their fellow Weyrlings better than one would expect with their usual haughty demeanors. It was no surprise then that they graduated on time and were chosen for one of the two Wings at the Weyr. They had no preference at the time though now they are more than ready to tell anyone that their wing is the best.
As they grew in maturity and skills they uncovered their desire to lead the Weyr. Refuge needed someone who would take action and Resonth's rider was practically useless at that. D'seus was a good strategist and found that he had more wing formations in his own head than they had on paper. So he began suggesting them to his Wingleader and when the man died of some strange illness (possibly inflicted by insects) he became Wingsecond. During this time in his life he became quite the womanizer. His three children are proof of that. He spends next to no time with them and has conceded that he knows little about parenting. Every so often they receive a present from him but one could hardly count that as fatherly behavior, except if one is a dragonrider.
Although he found himself in the beds of other women, he never gave up on the goal of winning over the Queenrider. Raelwyn, became Senior Weyrwoman when the Queen died seven Turns ago. In that time he had watched her make decisions and lead the Weyr quite admirably. Too bad she had yet to find a man who was good enough to match her leadership skills. One day he would win, either by flight or otherwise. Despite many encounters he felt he barely knew the Weyrwoman. Probably because he would quietly listen to what was being said and only speak up when necessary. He did not like to gainsay the other Bronzes in front of the Queen, not when he had no real control over them. As Weyrleader that would be different and he could say what he pleased. So despite his rise two turns ago to Wingleader, D'seus seeks more power. Having a beautiful, blonde weyrmate would be a perk!
Zorometh won Aeriath's flight creating a clutch like the Weyr had not yet seen before. over 30 eggs and a Queen Egg to boot. D'seus and Zorometh had pretty much made themselves the hero of the Weyr without realizing it. They were the figure head for the best a Bronze pair could be. Aeriath and Raelwyn were good mates for them as awell and even D'seus found himself looking for other women's company much less than before.
The Weyr seemed to be doing well, but a mysterious group of young men and women showed up, claiming to be from the Northern Continent, begging the Weyr to come North and prepare for Threadfall. After being banished South, many riders were left jaded by it due to long family histories told to them from their parents. They did not like the Holders of the North and that would be a hard thing to change in only a day. So for the time being he and Raelwyn decided to keep the group at the Weyr as captives as if they had somewhere to run. The lack of Candidates comign in from the South for such a large clutch left both he and the Weyrwoman concerned so they made a risky decision to allow these young people to Stand for the clutch and see what happened. It was luckily a success.
Over the next Turn the new members of the Weyr adjusted and D'seus hoped for another Turn to work out the Weyrs issues as its new leader. Rhiannoth was sent to Haven to help the Weyr recover their losses after they were attacked and lost both of their Queens were killed. However, fate seemed to like to play cruel jokes on people. During Aeriath's next mating flight Zorometh was crushed into a mountain by Bronze Tseravith (from Haven Weyr). Luckily the dragon had enough sense to head straight for the infirmary and not continue to pursue his beloved Gold. This meant a change in leadership, and the Weyr was handed over to A'lez. He respect A'lez although they did not always see eye to eye.
Realwyn and Aeriath went to help set up a Dragon Shield at Haven and help young Suynie get things in order. The Weyr seemed to need her more than Refuge so she ended up making the transfer permanent. While under Weyrleader A'lez, the Weyr was attacked by Holdless. D'seus and most of the shadow Wing were sent to defend the entrance to the Lower Caverns. Dragon Sheild patrolled all over and were spread out, taking as many Holdless down as they could, Illume wing had the Bowl to protect and the Weyrlings and Candidates were left to defend themselves for the most part.
The newest Gold, Elynth survived through the bravery of the other Weyrlings and a Bronzerider named Or'yn. The rest of the Weyr fared well enough but there were many many losses. People of all positions felt the loss of someone dear to them. Victory was bittersweet. It was just after this attack that Rhiannoth returned to Refuge Weyr.
The young Queen was just settling in when a mystery Gold ended up in the Bowl from seemingly nowhere. Golds did not just drop from the sky, no matter how badly they may be needed. Sakorai's Queen Issarith was quite the opposite of Rhiannoth in more than just physique. So it became clear that they would never truly get along and that the Senior Weyrwoman would be decided through whichever dragon took to the skies first. D'seus, once again, hoped to regain his position as Weyrleader but the snake, J'ldaem won and became leader of Refuge Weyr.
Zorometh did win the Junior Weyrleadership flight which occured shortly thereafter. Little did anyone know how a great a rift the pairings created in the Weyr. There were staunch supporters of D'seus and Suynie everywhere because they were true-born to Refuge and not outsiders. Sakorai and J'ldaem on top of being outsiders had reputations that were already painting them as not the most...likeable.
D'seus had no love for J'ldaem and Suynie despised Sakorai but the Weyr came first so neither of them said anything against the other pair no matter how the rumor mill was going. they did get some satisfaction out of the clutches that followed. Where Issarith's clutch was small, Rhiannoth's was big and contained a Gold egg. There were duds in Issarith's clutch and none of Rhiannoth's eggs were unhealthy. Once again Zorometh gained a reputation as a good sire. This also seemed to secure the thoughts in some people's minds that Zorometh and Rhiannoth should be the true leaders of the Weyr. D'seus still thinks its all nonsense and who knew what the length that Issarith was Between for would do to her system. No, D'seus would support them even if he did not always agree with them. It was only a part of why people liked the man. Now, D'seus tries to spend time with his growing brood of children when he has the time and also tries to be as true to Suynie as his nature allows.
Dragon Info
Name: Zorometh
Color: Bronze
Age: 20
Description: Zorometh is a balanced Bronze; his body is only slightly larger than the average Bronze. He will point it out from time to time. His movements all seem fluid for he is very agile and dedicated to drills, outside of wing practice. His coloring is darker than true Bronze with lighter places on his eye ridges and the underside of his chin. Zorometh's wing sails are almost brown as are his claws. His tail has a darker line down the center of it that culminates at tail.
Personality: Haughty and ambitious, this dragon can be almost cruel in his honesty. He has no time to talk to other people. He prefers to keep to himself and his rider except to bespeak a Queen or another Bronze. He will, at his rider’s request speak to his entire wing. Zorometh doesn’t flirt much with greens, he’s more likely to save nice comments for Golds.
History: A momentous day it was when Zorometh came forth from his shell. The increased noise from the crowd of people watching did not deter him. He knew he was wonderful. Now all he needed was to find the one person who could be equally as great as he was. He knew instantly. The tall boy was certainly unafraid of him as he walked towards him. D'seus. Feed me. Zorometh is hungry. Was the boy thick or something? All he wanted was some food. Did he look funny? The Bronze looked about himself. Using his mouth he grabbed the white robes and began to pull at D'seus. “Oh right. This way Zorometh.” It was about time.
Since then: Zorometh has skirted through Weyrling training in a rush to be a full fledged dragon. As an adult he trained hard and worked his way up through the ranks. When he was 9 he became a Wingsecond. Two Turns ago he became a Wingleader and since then takes his job more seriously than before. The only thing missing is proving himself in Gold Flights. The last one he was beaten by a cheap trick (or so he says). This time, he swears things will be different.
