Movie Star Clutch
Loghan had been keeping a close eye on a very egg heavy Precious. He knew she was getting close to clutching, well; she had to be didn’t she? She was getting so big she didn’t try to fly much anymore. She was also snooping into everything including his clothes. She reminded him of a bird making a nest. When he couldn’t find her all he had to do was check out the hatching sands. He would find her there checking out every inch as if she was looking for the perfect place.
The little flit had been resting on his pillow for awhile now. Just laying there and watching him. Every once in awhile her tail would twitch. Usually it was just the tip that moved but now that he looked at her it was more then that twitching now.
Getting up from his paperwork he had been going over for the Dragon Shield, he walked over and sat next to her on the bed. He carefully rubbed her eye ridges while he spoke quietly to her. “Poor girl. When you gonna lay those eggs huh? You sure look uncomfortable.” He crooned softly. He could picture how many eggs she would be laying. He figured about 20 from the size of her. Precious chirped cheerfully at him and laid her head into his hand for more pets.
While Loghan was scratching her neck with his index finger, he noticed the tiny gold flit seemed to be different. Watching her as he continued to scratch along her neck he noticed her sides move again. He moved his hand to pet her large sides and felt the movement that time. The tiny thing was defiantly acting like she was cramping. When he stopped rubbing her side she nose bumped him asking for more.
Worried now that he didn’t have anything for her to lay her eggs in, and not wanting her to do so in his bed. Loghan picked up the basket he had brought in that morning just in case. He had been so busy he hadn’t put any sand inside yet. Not thinking, he picked Precious up and cradled her in his arms while he picked up the basket with the other hand.
“Come on little one; let’s go get you some warm sand for your babies shall we?” Precious answered with a nuzzle under his chin, almost like she understood he was trying to help. Loghan found it interesting he didn’t run into anybody as he made his way toe hatching sands. He could feel Precious having more cramps and he hastened his footsteps into a very fast walk.
Once they reached the sands, Precious wanted down. Not arguing he put her on the sands and headed for a spot next to the wall where he could get some sand and not make a huge mess. Precious followed him and watched as he filled the basket. Before he could fill the shallow hole back in, Precious pushed her way into the indent and started scratching around.
Watching with fascination as the little golden flit made a nest. She didn’t take long to make it perfect, the tiny thing started pushing. To Loghan’s surprise, she laid her first egg. He couldn’t see it well yet, she was cleaning it up. Excited, Loghan decided not to disturb her until she was done.
Looking around quickly he noticed someone had left a cushion of sorts near the entrance to the sands. Leaving Precious just for a moment, he picked up the makeshift padding and headed back to the laboring flit. He briefly wondered if someone had left this padding at the door just for these occasions. It didn’t matter, at least he wasn’t going to burn his but and legs. He settled to watch as Precious moved her first egg out of the way to make room for the second. It took awhile before she was finished, but her eggs came in this order.
The Wizard of Oz Egg
Judy Garland
Judy Garland
Around the outskirts of the clutch lays an average sized egg of turquoise blue. Across the pretty blue shade is a dark gray shade appearing like a twister going across the shell. Is that dark spot near the top a house? One might have cause to wonder and imagine what it could be.
The Vaudeville Egg
Cary Grant
Cary Grant
This egg is smaller than the rest of its clutch-mates. The background of the egg is a grayish-green color almost drab in appearance. However there is nothing boring about the egg’s shell. There are riot of interesting things going on with outrageous colors. One part of the egg shows orange swirls while another shows a white patch of seven polka dots. The egg also boasts purple, red and pink splashes that make this egg almost gaudy.
The Quiet Man Egg
John Wayne
John Wayne
The Quiet Man Egg is medium sized and a lovely shade of green reminiscent of the Emerald Isle’s rolling hills. Here and there throughout the shell grayish-brown streaks are seen resembling the stone fences that scatter the country side.
The Pink Panther Egg
David Niven
David Niven
A strange egg, The Pink Panther Egg is colored pale pink with swirls of white and blue across its entire shell. Mysterious and intriguing the appearance of the shell keeps people looking. Off to one side is a dark blue shape that resembles a jungle feline in full hunt. The egg is small but not the smallest in the clutch.
The How The West Was Won Egg
Jimmy Stewart
Jimmy Stewart
Among the other earthy green colored eggs, a fairly large dull colored brown egg resides. The egg’s most distinguishing feature, a darker shape that resembles a running runner with a rider low over its neck is something one won’t see upon first inspection. A person would have to look closely near the bottom of the egg to see it where the small shape is almost hidden by the sand.
The Old Man River Egg
Bing Crosby
Bing Crosby
Resembling a river turned on its side, the blue egg of varying shades and of average size sports swirls of blue and green across the surface of the egg’s shell. Here and there on the egg are small gray spots which can seem like rocks which the river flows around. The egg’s pretty blues are sure to catch more than one person’s eye.
The Rebel Without A Cause Egg
James Dean
James Dean
Although this average sized egg is not much to look at, it is for this very reason someone might take a second look. Among the greens and earthy browns, the reddish brown color of the shell makes a statement. The splashes on the shell are bronze, giving the look of broken glass. Perhaps it is not much to look at, but those shattered places make one wonder about the egg’s occupant.
The African Queen Egg
Katharine Hepburn
Katharine Hepburn
The African Queen Egg is a purplish colored egg with swirls of pretty pink and green here and there. It resembles a river at sunset the way the pink and green play across the swirls. It’s about average in size so it’s not the most desirable on the sands but the shell’s pretty coloring would make it a rather interesting egg to be carrying around.
The Petrified Forest Egg
Humphrey Bogart
Humphrey Bogart
The dull green egg of average size, would draw very little attention. The Petrified Forest Egg’s shell is lined with brown stripes that resemble tree trunks in a forest. The stripes run all around the middle of the egg almost like a picket fence. At the larger end of the egg, brownish tones and seemingly textured appearance lend one to imagine a forest floor.
The Some Like It Hot Egg
Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe
The yellowy color of the shell and sheer size of the egg might confuse more than one onlooker. However this is no Queen Egg. The largest of the clutch the egg sets off a presence that seems to attract people to it. The yellow shell has white swirls of color throughout like blonde hair blowing in the breeze.
The Towering Inferno Egg
Paul Newman
Paul Newman
A large, black as night egg rests among the others on the Sand. The shell has what appears to be a tall burning structure near the bottom of the egg. Flaming red coloring swirls around with yellow and orange as it heads to the top of the egg like it was on fire itself. Against the black shell the colors stand out, making the egg one of the most eye catching on the Sands.
The My Fair Lady Egg
Audrey Hepburn
Audrey Hepburn
The My Fair Lady Egg is completely and strikingly white. No other coloring can be seen on its shell. The egg is strangely rough to the touch. The last egg of the clutch, one might wonder if its white because the other eggs soaked up all the color.

Precious walked around her clutch inspecting every egg and nosing one or two into different positions before she was satisfied with how they were situated. Once satisfied she chirped at Loghan as if to say she was done. He got pictures and feelings of pride as Precious hummed quietly to her clutch. She lay down in front of them and laid a protective wing over them as if she could protect them that way and keep them out of sight.
“Very nice job Precious. Nice size clutch for your first one. And aren’t they pretty.” Loghan told her as he lightly scratched her eye ridges. Sighing in contentment, the tiny flit curled tighter around her eggs and closed her eyes. “I will be right back sweetie; I’m going to get you water and something to eat. You rest, I won’t be long I promise.” Loghan told her.
Picking up his pad he put it back by the door. He needed a cup of Klah and something to eat too. He would bring it back with him to the sands. He didn’t know how long it would take for the eggs to harden. But he wouldn’t leave them here for the Brat Pack to steal.
Hurrying to the kitchens, Loghan told everyone he met on the way that Precious had finally clutched and that there were 12 eggs on the sands. He felt like a proud papa and couldn’t quit grinning. Once in the kitchen a drudge diced him up some meat while he grabbed a tray and put a small picture of Klah along with a loaded plate of food that would keep him busy for awhile.
Thanking the Drudge, Loghan hurried back to the Hatching Cavern to find Precious still curled around her eggs. She looked so lonely all by her self so small and defenseless. No he wouldn’t leave her there alone with her eggs; as soon as he could he would put them in the basket and move them to his quarters.
Picking up the mat he had used earlier, Loghan put it loser to the wall behind Precious and her clutch, and sat down with his back to the wall, spreading his long legs around the tiny flit and her newly laid eggs. He poured himself a cup of Klah and offered Precious food and water. Once they were done eating, Morning would find them there sleeping quietly.
