What would you like to be called OOC? Crazy or Craziest, usually
Recruited by: none

Character Info:
Name: Friily (pronounced ‘freely’)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Family:
(Father) Cimon – Raises Herdbeasts
(Mother) Relta – Cimon’s Wife
(‘younger’ brother, died stillborn when Friily was four turns old) nameless, several unborn siblings who died in utero
Appearance:
Friily is borderline scrawny in appearance, standing at only 5’1’’, with a freckled, plain face, short cropped brown hair, and a flat chest, she is easy to mistake for a boy. Though woe to any man, woman, or child that would say that to her face – she’s a bit of a temper at times, especially about her looks. Friily is actually rather strong, at least for her size, plenty able to do the work of a ranching family’s only child, with energy to spare, though no one would guess it with a glance at her skinny arms.
If eyes are the windows to the soul, then Friily’s soul is one of utter, muddy brown, lying calm. The young woman’s eyes are not what one should be looking at to get a real indication of her feelings – those lovely orbs (the only truly lovely thing about her physical appearance) exude a complete, calm, confidence, at all times, no matter what chaotic, angry, sad, or other various thoughts that might be swirling around behind them.
Having worked around animals, herdbeasts especially, Friily has mastered the art of outward calm to keep the animals around her calm. After seeing a few herdbeast births go wrong, and faced with the possibility of another such loss, one learns to be calm for the animal, else make everything worse.
If one is looking for an indication of Friily’s actual mood, watch her mouth. She smiles rarely, but the corners of her lips are very expressive – it curves up in happiness, quivers in sadness, and twists downward in anger.
Completely spited by nature in the beauty department, Friily makes up for it with a true woman’s grace, seeming to nearly glide around as if she were on wheels instead of feet, and a commanding air that can snatch up the attention and hold it.
Personality:
As mentioned, Friily’s temper can be somewhat short-fused, though her actual outbursts are few and far between. She is more of the smile sweetly now, take care of the ‘problem’ later type of person. One does not insult or underestimate Friily more than the once.
Other than her sometimes temper-mental tendencies, Friily is very caring of others, being one of the rare few that listens and thinks before deciding and speaking. She is not one to jump before looking, or do anything without thought beforehand. She is very smart and shrewd, with a slightly humorous outlook on life. Friily is also rather eager to learn almost anything new, something that proved helpful in keeping her father from making sure she stayed in the kitchen, and persistent if she wants to know something. Cimon found it hard to make her leave during herdbeast births when she was little, and now would no longer even consider a herdbeast birth without her.
As for strength of mind, Friily has plenty. The young woman has a sharp tongue, even if it is only rarely put to use, and a very businesslike manner when confronted with a problem. Due to her mother’s sporadic mind, Friily has been the woman of the house hold for many turns, and is very comfortable in the position, able to handle most anything that comes her way.
One of her biggest flaws is that she will not ask for help. She has felt like she must help in every way possible since she was very small, and worries about inconveniencing others, especially her father, in any way. Because of this, there have been several injuries of hers – burns when she was younger and had trouble seeing what she was doing while cooking, though she’s also suffered some broken toes from a herdbeast stepping on her foot – have been concealed and kept secret.
Her biggest fear is of childbirth. Even after seeing so many successful herdbeast births, and seeing several human births that went just fin, the horror of having seen her mother suffer so much from a rather young age has made the thought of one day trying to go through such a thing herself scare her more than she’d ever admit.
Hobbies/Skills:
Skills: Friily is very skilled in the raising and care of herdbeasts and other animals, and even slightly skilled in basic healing, though mostly only with animals. Friily can cook up a meal from scratch, or less than scratch, and make it not only edible, but actually quite scrumptious.
Hobbies: Friily doesn’t have much free time, between the work of a Herdbeast farmer’s only child and the work of the household. What free time she has is often spent in a small garden she planted and lavishes upon, or spent sketching small portraits of animals and people.
Pets:
none
History:
Friily is the lone child of farmer/herdbeast raising parents – not that her parents haven’t been trying to make more, but her mother had miscarried several times and only carried two children to term, one being stillborn, the other being Friily. Relta became a bit unstable due to the psychological impact of the loss of her children, and so has largely passed most of her duties to Friily by now, though she still does much cooking, cleaning, and etc around the house – idleness is the woman’s enemy, and she beats it back until she collapses exhausted into bed at night.
As a small child, Friily was often alone, but was never lonely – there was a multitude of various animals always around to play with and make friends with, anything from the barn felines to the herdbeasts and couple of runnerbeasts her father owned. She has a bit of a knack for making animals trust her, and even the occasional injured animal would willingly submit to her for care without much fear – which is where her basic knowledge of healing comes from.
Her most painful memory is actually from about this time – she found a feline that had been attacked by a vicious canine. The feline was already dead when she found it, and the tiny kitten that was curled against its mother’s cold underbelly was very nearly so. She took it inside and warmed up some milk and tried to get the kitten to nurse from the corner of a piece of cloth dipped in the milk, but it had already been without nourishment for too long. She still spent all night trying to get it to nurse, and held it in her lap long after it had finally died. It was one of the few times that she has ever broken down and cried. She’s had a particularly protective feeling toward all felines since then, almost as if trying to make up for the life she could not save.
As she grew older and began helping her parents more and more, at an age where she may have begun to want actual friends her own age, she became far too preoccupied with working and learning to even notice the absence of them. She has a natural confidence in situations where she must take lead – her father, having been one of several boys himself and having no experience with other children, sort of just treated her as a responsible adult from a young age, with no real regard to her gender, so she did the dirty or hard jobs a son would do, as well as being left in charge whenever her father had to leave for a time for some reason or another. However, due to her lack of experience in ‘regular’ social situations, she tends to feel very shy and awkward when meeting people on a one on one level, and can easily come off as stiff and even almost rude at times in reaction to her own uncertainty.
Color Preference (for Candidates only)
Whatever you think best fits her, and just in case: All That Glitters
