This is a Candidate Lesson Paired with current Weyrlings who wish to attend. Weyrlings are not required to attend, but the Candidates are! Candidate's first, I'll que in the Weyrlings with the next post. S’nuo left his riding leathers in his ground level weyr, instead grabbing a pair of old course pants that fit well around his waist and wouldn’t slip should they become water logged. Grabbing his typical undershirt, he paused before tossing that back on the bed as well. By the time it was wet, it’d be see-through anyways so there was little point in it. And if there was one thing S’nuo knew, I was that you couldn’t stay dry when washing a dragon. Instead he grabbed an overshirt that buttoned down the front, which he left open knowing that it would be discarded soon enough, before grabbing a bag nearly the size of his own torso and slinging it over his shoulder as if it weighed nothing. Then again, compared to that accursed firestone, it really wasn’t much at all. He had arranged that day for his current set of Candidate’s to help the newest of the Weyrling’s wash their dragons. Not only would the dragons be a smaller, manageable size, but they were closer to the size of hatchlings and still a bit clumsy which was more of the point. The last two hatchings had incidents that S’nuo was more than ready to stop before it became common place. The less candidates ended up in the Infirmary, the better for everyone. Mostly S’nuo’s ears when he heard about it from the healers. It wasn’t his fault the hatchlings were clumsy. Not really the hatchling’s fault either. But he did need to do what he could to eliminate fear as well as make his candidates a bit lighter on their feet. They’d probably hate him for it, but it meant more physical labor and more hands on projects with the Weyrlings. Stepping through the door from his Weyr to his office, there was only one more door between him and the common room that he had instructed his candidates to meet him at this time. Opening the door, he stepped through and took a quick count of who was in attendance and who was not. “Alright, to the lake. Jasium, lose the leathers or you’ll drown in the water. Elisev I hope you plan on leaving those boots on shore, and Pavorin, you really need to wear a work shirt or no shirt at all, your going to ruin that fancy thing.”Though he spoke to all boys, he gave a very readable look to a few of the ladies who had also dressed ‘nicely’ that they too needed to go and change into something that wouldn’t give them a reason to not get dirty.

Oh she was so excited! The Candidate Master had told them they were going to the lake! Her first true Candidate lesson and they were going to the lake!!! Seirsha could only guess as to what they would be doing there although she figured she had dressed appropriately. Her shirt was form fitting, sleeveless and olive green in color and together with slightly loose fitting, cargo type pants in a tan color, stolen from her brother’s chest of clothes and a pair of sandals she figured she had her bases covered. Her mother had braided her hair into one thick plait for her so that it would be out of her way just that morning when she saw her at breakfast. .
The people who were attending lessons and had no idea what one would do at the lake were going to be in for a shock, she figured. Although it would not surprise her if Kreallie and some other girls thought to show up in a dress. S’nuo was already making corrections to some of the boy’s clothing choices. Phew, it looked as if she were good to go. While walking to the Lake she found herself wondering about the lesson what exactly could they be doing at the lake? Was it a swimming lesson or something? She did not need a swimming lesson and in fact could probably teach one. It had to be something good for it to be a lesson. Something better than swimming.
For the love of little green dragons she really hoped this was not some kind of partner or buddy thing so that she might get stuck dealing with Kreallie. Seirsha would refuse for the simple reason that if she and the other girl were forced to work together they might just end up brawling in the middle of the lake. It was not something she wanted to be in trouble over. Not if it meant being kept from Hatchings which was often a punishment for Candidates who got into trouble. Although the actions would not entirely be her fault she could not deny the facts. Bah, why was she spending so much time thinking about her nemesis when she could be figuring out what they were going to do. Curiosity…
Kreallie too was excited to start Candidacy although she had yet to really feel like a true Candidate. Maybe when she was walking into the white robes to join her future life mate on the Sands it would finally become more of a reality than a dream. Like her brother, great things had always been expected of her, even if she were only a girl in the family’s eyes. There were their expectations and there were her own and right now she was much more interested in her own desires.
These mostly included Impressing a dragon and then being free to do as she pleased, when she pleased while having the power over some lesser people so that she would have someone else to do her bidding. Really she wanted to be her brother. He had everything! She was born a girl and she was going to have to suffer the consequences of such an inconvenient trait. The one good thing about her parents being dead was that they could no longer dictate what she was going to do with her life. She would be flamed if she was going to become some man’s weyrmate to make babies and care for him in order to get any sort of rank.
As she finished her thought on the manner, Kreallie heard the Candidate Master’s voice and turned to listen. Could he be any more attractive? She thought as her blue eyes widened. If her face had flushed slightly no one would notice. What exactly had he said? She watched people heading to change and figured they had to be dressed for the activity of…the lake. He had said lake. She was almost one hundred percent sure of it.
The red haired girl looked down at the working attire she had on. Her straight legged linen type tan pants went well with the blue tank top she was wearing, although her shoes were more for walking than going to the lake, she could always take them off there. As for her hair, Kreallie preferred it down in all situations. She was so caught up in the Candidate Master that even while walking to the lake, she spared no thoughts for Seirsha or what they might be doing.
Rhodri’s stint in the infirmary was over before Nayza’s though he went to visit her daily and try to boost her morale. Within the last couple of days he had actually been able to ride runners without searing pain travelling up his leg. Since his physical therapy seemed to be working well, he had been given permission to rejoin Candidate Lessons; and not a moment too soon really for as he was walking into the Barracks, the Candidate Master was giving orders. They were going to the lake, dress appropriately was what he heard the man tell them.
He did not bring any clothes with him to the Weyr and what he did have from the Weyr left him with minimal choices. He was wearing one of the few outfits he had a simple working outfit made of coarse material. The pants were neither loose nor tight, a dark brown color and his shirt was a white, loose blouse like shirt which caught the wind easily. He’d be taking that off when they got to the lake and his boots as well because he only had the one pair of shoes.
The Candidate had no idea what to expect when it came to lessons. He had not been a member of the Weyr long enough to know everything a Weyrbred person would know but he felt confident that he was learning as much as he could so that he would soon be worthy of a dragon. This lesson would help him in his mission to Impress no matter what it happened to be about. He walked keeping mostly to himself and his own thoughts towards the lake. He really wished Nayza were here.

NayzaretteNortherner Candidate ”I said I’m going.” ”And I say no, you’re in no condition to be doing any sort of activity with that arm and chest injury of yours.” ”But I feel fine!”
It wasn’t fair, it truly wasn’t. While the brunette had coped pretty well for the past sevendays after her injury, mostly at first thanks to Rhodri’s presence in the Infirmary as well, she was getting tired and restless of being in the same bed for so long. Shards, so what if she was injured; her legs were perfectly fine still and it wasn’t like she would be stupid enough to go around lifting things. Nayza could understand quite well enough how tender her wound was; any wrong movement could cause the arm’s nerves to not heal properly—heck even normally the healers had warned her she might feel a slight discomfort now and again in the turns to come.
But she really couldn’t keep on missing candidate lessons left and right, at this rate they might just refuse her to stand for the next clutch; and Elynth was rumored to be rising soon enough.
No way she was missing a hatching because of her own stupidity to not move fast enough in the last one.
”You can tell Rhodri to keep an eye on me then, but please! I really want to go, pleeeaaaseee!!!”
With a huff the older woman turned to look at the young candidate’s begging eyes, finally giving a sigh before calling over a small green firelizard. A small note was given to the little critter before it chirped happily and winked between, the healer now turning back at Nayzarette once more.
”Fine, Vine just left to give S’nuo my note. But you have better not be making any sort of movements and heavy work, missy, or you just might risk the rest of your candidacy!” ”I won’t, I promise! Oh thank you, thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!”
Before the healer could have another word in the brunette had finally left the Infirmary for the first time in a long while, more than happy to take a deep inhale of fresh air; unmarred by the lingering scent of numbweed like the Infirmary had often been. Her dressing was light, a simple tunic with knee length loose trousers, tied around her waist to avoid them dropping off. Sandals covered her feet, and a sling across her left shoulder to help distribute the weight of the injured right arm. Her chest was mostly covered with bandages where the slash had happened, same with the injured limb, but it had already been long enough that the girl could go outside without risking an infection.
So long as she kept herself clean of course.
She made her way slowly to the meeting area close to the lake, until her chest wound was fully healed the healers had often advised her against any form of rigorous exercise; even something like jogging was still considered as potentially hazardous—not because it could hurt her much, but because of the risks it had of her current wounds not healing properly. Nayza was not about to risk it at all, there was nothing more she desired than being a dragonrider. She would not jeopardize that goal by stupidity and neglect on her part.
Ah, there he was! Spotting the familiar shape of Rhodri the girl made a beeline for him, remaining silent until she finally jabbed him on his side playfully with her left hand. ”Surprise—“ The greeting was lost though as she suddenly noticed the man further ahead being pestered by the familiar green flitter of the healer back at the Infirmary. Was that their Candidate Master? He was so handsome, so perfect... She really had forgotten how gorgeous he was.
Oh by Faranth she was so glad to have come to this lesson, indeed.

Hearing S'nuo's voice raise over any din of chatter to address the boys in the class, Neande arrived just after the candidate master did, but lingered just outside, in the hall. The girl's lips puckered into a nervous frown, pale blue eyes growing twice as wide. He was so authoritative! He was so mad! What if he yelled at her too!!!! Of course, in Neande's mind, all things became highly exagerated. Neande snuck through the door of the classroom where the candidate master and students resided, flattening herself against the wall. Turning her eyes away from S'nuo, the opposite direction looking for an unoccupied desk that she could sit at. She didn't even look to see if he'd seen her come in, but that didn't really matter. She still acted as though she could camoflage herself against the wall and find her way in without notice, no matter how many eyes may have turned upon her as she was Sneaking in. It didn't help that the girl whispered to herself all the while, in low mutterings, "Please don't be mad at Neande. Neande is dressed right and likes to go swimming. Neande didn't do anything to made Snow mad. Please no yelling." Indeed, Neande was dressed appropriately enough for events of the day, in a ivory, too-long-sleeved, open-collared shirt, shorts short enough to go unnoticed under such an over-sized shirt, and over-the-knee socks in mismatched colours with ankle boots. Those were tied for once, and apparently someone had reminded her how to braid her hair to keep it out of her face. Though the platinum halo of hair that normally created a twiggy mess around her head didn't seem any more smoothed out than usual, at least it was pulled over her shoulder in a loose braid to keep it moderately tame. Under her breath she talked to herself again, just before finding a seat with the rest of the candidates present. "Did Snow see me? Don't be mad, Snow." It didn't seem to occur to her that girls might sit separate from the boys or that boys might be nervous around girls turning in to young women, or any other such circumstance. Neande simply slipped into a chair somewhere in the midst of them all, taking obvious 'sneaking' efforts to be verrrryyyy verrryyyyy quiet.
