Fierce Fire Weyrlings K'mar of Bronze Tsevoth T'ran of Brown Philibith D've of Brown Corbeth (NPC) Sh'ara of Blue Unciath Sh'ell of Blue Servath (NPC) R'fer of Blue Issiodorensith (NPC) Zalitta of Green Yaguareth (NPC) Lor'k of Green Aileeth (NPC) L'sein of Green Babouth (NPC) D'rahn of Green Acinonyth (NPC)
K'vett tried to start the Fierce Fire Weyrling's classes as early as possible each day, mostly by midday it was so hot outside that it made drills or anything else miserable. Today was no different, it was the crack of dawn, pink and purple pastels played behind the mountain range of the Weyr as the Assistant Weyrlingmaster stood and waited for all of his Weyrlings to arrive. He was silently very glad that he didn't have to look after the Enlightened Sky group because there was so many of them.
At five, nearly six, months old, the Fierce Fire Weyrlings were in a routine, at this point, and knew to rise early, feed their dragons, and then get the beasts settled back in while they went to Weyrling class. Today was going to be a relatively easy day for them. A few sevendays after they'd Impressed, K'vett had split the Weyrlings up into miniature Wings. This helped them understand how Wings worked as a unit, and it also gave bronze and brown Weyrlings their first tastes of leadership.
After his Weyrlings had straggled in, K'vett gave them all a nod and a smile, "Good morning everyone. We've got a relatively easy day lined up for us. Red Wing, you'll start off doing your physical training exercises first, then you'll come back here at midday for ground drills, after which K'mar, you will head off for your additional leadership training."
"Blue Wing," he looked to the other half of the Weyrlings, "your morning will begin here with me doing ground drills, then at midday you'll move off to your physical training exercises. Any questions?" He looked at the group of youngsters, "Allright, let's get to it then! Red Wing, I'll see you back at midday."
Red Wing: K'mar of Bronze Tsevoth [Wingleader] D've of Brown Corbeth (NPC) [Wingsecond] Sh'ara of Blue Unciath [Wingrider] Zalitta of Green Yaguareth (NPC) [Wingrider] D'rahn of Green Acinonyth (NPC) [Wingrider]

Sh'ara and Blue Unciath were the first pair that reached the arranged meeting place for today's class, K'vett was already waiting. She was surprised they were the first, normally they were in the middle of the group for arriving. She stayed quiet but nodded politely to the Assistant Weyrlingmaster as she settled Unciath. They were both tired this morning, for some reason it was a long night. After feeding the fast growing Unciath, she changed clothes and headed for class. He wasn't hungry yet, but would be soon.
The pair watched as others staggered in to class, her wing was the Red Wing, and they gathered loosely around her. They looked as tired as she felt. She nodded hello to several others as they moved into their wings and waited for today's class to start.
Once she found out she had exercises first this morning, she relaxed a bit. She would have time to feed and bathe Unciath before wing practice this afternoon. He would be a bit sleepy but they always enjoyed the drills. Once they were excused, they headed off. She liked the exercises, Unciath tried to do his part too. Sh'ara didn't know if it helped him, but he made her and others laugh as he tried to imitate her actions.

T’ran of PhilibithFierce Fire Brown Weyrling Sometimes the dark skinned boy couldn’t believe it, already it had been five months since he and Philibith had finally found one another at last. Healthy and constantly growing, much like the boy himself, the brown weyrling had adapted quickly enough to rising before the crack of dawn each morning to feed his Philibith as well as oil his hide. Not only did rising early ensured the best pieces of meat for his bonded, but it also meant some precious and rare free time to hang around with H’nuk, B’ri and T’mak as well.
Due to the age difference none of the weyrling classes ever featured both the Fierce Fire and the Enlightened Sky wings together; so those early mornings and early nights before going to bed where the only moments the boys could ever be in one another’s comforting company. Today was not the exception.
Must you be gone for so long always, Mine? [We need to train, you know that Philibith. I need to become just as strong as you’re going to be so we can protect Refuge and everyone on Pern to the best of our abilities.] We are strong and some of the best Pern will ever see, that still does not mean I enjoy having you gone for so long. [Neitherdo I, but I’ll be back soon enough. Sleep until then, you need your rest to grow big and strong.]
With a snort the brown creature managed to ruffle some of the unruly locks of hair of his bonded, crooning in delight as T’ran scratched his eyeridges in just the right spot before whirling green eyes watched the young boy disappear out the door. The past sevendays temperatures had already begun to climb as summer swept the South, T’ran’s clothing in turn turning to be lighter and more wind accessible to keep him cool even through the drills. A simply tunic cut short to his waist and free of any sash, companied with trousers that only reached to the boy’s knees and finished with sturdy wherhide boots. He was one of the last to arrive, though by no means enough to be considered late, and the boy soon fell into the normal routine of all the classes as he waited for the lesson to begin.
The Red Wing, lead by K’mar would begin with physical training first, while the Blue Wing (the one he had been placed in charge of) would remain with the blueriding Weyrlingmaster Assistant for the ground drills instead. Quickly he moved to look around for his fellow wingmates; and finding them all already present the boy couldn’t help but grin in delight as he greeted each of them warmly. Once the Red Wing, lead by K’mar, had gone off the boy turned to face K’vett as he replied with a steady voice.
”My wingmates are all here and present, K’vett. We’re ready to begin on your command.”

"Excellent." K'vett nodded at T'ran as he surveyed the small group. No matter their size, they still needed to learn how a real wing operated during Threadfall. It was just dragons flying in random directions, flaming whatever was in sight, there was a specific pattern, and order to each Wing. The Wingleader was always in constant communication with his dragon and the other wingriders in his Wing so that he could adjust and move them as he needed throughout 'Fall.
"We're going to be walking through a Threadfall today." Since the dragons were not yet old enough to fly, they physically walked the practice field in formation, role playing what a Threadfall would entail. This way the Weyrlings would be comfortable with how it worked so that they would be ready when it came time to practice the drills with their dragons.
"T'ran, you'll lead your Wing into Threadfall, and I'll change the conditions throughout the drill. Each time the conditions change, or an event occurs, it will be up to you to inform your wingriders of what they should do next." Wingleaders and Wingseconds had to be fast thinkers and keep a cool head because they were needed to make so many important decisions during the heat of 'Fall.
"On your command, T'ran, the drill will begin. You'll first enter Thread on a cloudy day with the Thread falling from the north."
K'mar didn't really like having personal exercises first, mostly, because it meant that his Wing would be out on the training field during the heat of the day. It also meant that he would be physically tired before they even started their drills. But all the same, he supposed that if he wanted to excel as a bronzerider at Refuge he would have to do everything within his power to prove himself. Just because his Tsevoth came from Issarith's clutch, a generally hostile group, and just because his bronze wouldn't be as large as those that had hatched from Rhiannoth, didn't mean that he was any less a bronzerider. He was far more matured and more likely to succeed than those two children that had Impressed to Maximuth and Imhoth.
"Allright Wing," he spoke to the member's of his pseudo Wing, "let's do some warm up stretches and then start with some laps around the Weyrlake before it gets too hot out here."

T’ran of PhilibithFierce Fire Brown Weyrling The formation had been something that had already been established in past lessons, so up to there the brownweyrling felt confident enough. Always alert he kept an eye on the boys spread behind him in a V formation, calling out whenever one seemed to be just a bit too close or too far from their supposed spot.
”Keep alert and ready Blue Wing, we’re entering from South-East!”
As K’vett called out the first weather conditions, as well as the Thread direction, the boy took a moment to position his wing to his chosen direction to intercept the imaginary falling thread. Coming from the North had seemed like a bad idea altogether; no doubt they could easily get overrun by falling Thread in a true Fall, from the South they would intercept it ahead, and have some back room to retreat to in case of emergency.
He wouldn’t deny it, at first these drills had felt quite awkward—role playing the whole Threadfall among themselves with imagination; as well as the fact that he was quite probably the youngest weyrling in the whole clutch of Issarith; and here he was leading the Blue Wing.
Who was he kidding, it still felt weird.

K'vett stood with one hand cradling his chin as he watched the Weyrlings walk in formation, their eyes all trained on T'ran as they waited for his instructions. Whether he knew it or not, T'ran was a natural leader amongst the Weyrlings, it made it helpful then that his dragon was a brown. Browns seemed to make natural seconds-in-command, K'vett felt. They had nearly the same endurance and strength as a bronze without all of the ego.
"The wind shifts, bringing an upward current under the dragons. Someone from an upper wing misses a firestone sack toss and the bag lands on L'sein." You never knew what sort of things would happen during Thread, and most of the hypothetical situations that K'vett would be placing the Weyrlings in were things he'd actually seen in Threadfalls before. Dragonriders trained and practiced hard but they weren't perfect and sometimes things slipped through.
