Character Info:
Name: Akroma
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Rank: Dragon Shield
Family:
Father: Ixidor (48) Former Master at Arms
Mother: Nivea (Deceased)
Sister: Serra (25) Healer in one of the holds
Sister: Razia (22) Rider of Green Sulisanth
Sister: Iona (18) Main care taker of Ixidor and Linvala
Sister: Linvala (17) Mute
Playby: Rashida Jones
Appearance:
Akroma is pretty. She’s not one of those woman who turns heads but she’s nice to look at. Her 5'8 frame is slim and athletic, one that shows that she doesn’t just sit around doing needle point but that she tries to stay active and help out. While she has some curves she’s not a very busty girl, nor does she have much of a waist so no hour glass figure for her.
Her hair is a medium brown that gets some slightly reddish tints to it after she spends enough time outside to lighten it up a little. Her bangs are cut right above her eyes, an effort to try and hide what she thinks is a large forehead. The rest of her hair is kept long, down to her shoulder blades. It curls a little at the ends and has some soft waves through out it but otherwise it’s pretty straight. She has hazel eyes that, in some light, look more gray-green.
For clothing she wears things that are suited for work more then for making her look good. Pants and tunics, nothing too big because then they get in the way of her movements. She doesn’t throw a fit when she has to dress up though she doesn’t care for it. She wears shorter dresses in those cases, something that isn’t going to drag on the floor and risk tripping her up.
Personality: For Akroma there is nothing more important then honor. Once she has given her word about something she will do everything it takes to make sure it happens, regardless of what she has to sacrifice. To her, the ends never justify the means, if you can’t accomplish in your goals in an honorable way then you should rethink your goals. This alone has made her unwilling to see her two youngest sisters as half siblings as that would mean her mother had been dishonorable.
Akroma has vowed to protect the Weyr and all of its lands with her life. She doesn’t rush out to do anything foolish enough to get herself killed but she’s more then willing to sacrifice herself for it if she needed to. She has thought long and hard about her own mortality and isn’t too bothered by the thought of death after seeing her mother die in childbirth.
Akroma tends to see things a little too black and white. If a man is caught stealing he should be punished, if he was stealing food for his family then he should have gone to someone asking for help. Rules and laws are there for a reason.
Even her family admits that Akorma has a stick in her rear. She’s nice, sure but she just doesn’t know how to relax and have fun. Fun to her is climbing, swimming, doing whatever other physical actives she can to help her train. Even in her free time she has a hard time separating herself from her duties as a member of the Dragon Shield.
Hobbies/Skills: She enjoys climbing and swimming. Has basic first-aid training and is skilled in fighting (best at sword fighting then knives, then unarmed.) She’s ok with bows but far from the best.
Pets: Brown Firelizard Nalaar and wild feline cub Shade
History: Is the oldest child in her family, having four younger sisters and no brothers. Her father had always wanted a son, someone to teach his trade to. For his first daughters he followed his wife’s wishes, teaching them nothing more then where the best places to kick someone was if they ever got into trouble. He knew the last two daughters his wife birthed weren’t his own but loved them as his own, even when Nivea died giving birth to Linvala, and even more so after realizing that his youngest daughter couldn’t make a sound.
With his wife dead and still having no sons, Ixidor was free to indulge in his eldest daughter’s wishes and started to teach the girl how to fight. Since he was teaching a girl, he decided to focus on her dexterity and her speed over her strength. No matter how hard Akroma worked she’d never be stronger then most boys, but she could learn how to use her slimmer size against others.
The girl was quick to take to her training, working hard during the days to keep her mind sharp in her studies and then spending her afternoons and evening learning more combat training and then practicing until she was tired and sore.
Once her father thought she was ready, Akroma started to learn how to use a rapier-like sword, something slim and quick. Akroma quickly took to the weapon and a majority of her time was now spent learning how to use the sword. Once she had the basics down, she found new ways to make her training a challenge, her favorite was climbing into a tree with strong limbs and practicing on the branches. It took time, dozes of bruises and even a broken arm before Akroma got good at her tree practices but it had taught her how to keep track of her space and how to balance herself better.
During weekends, the near by hold would often hold mock-fights for people, using these fights to pick out people they thought would be good guards. At first Akroma and her family would go to just watch, her father often pointing out the different things that combatants did that she should watch out for. After awhile Ixidor allowed Akroma to enter the fights for herself. She did well for herself, showing off her speed and quickness against those who were bigger and stronger. When a recruiter for the guard stopped by to watch the fights, he took an interest in Akroma and invited her to join. She jumped at the chance and within a week was helping protect the hold, going out on patrols and doing whatever else was asked of her.
She worked hard in the guard, spending much of her free time trying to improve herself or helping others get a little bit better. She was never the best at fighting, or any of the other drills and exercises the guard was put through but she was always in the top five. Her hard work truly paid off when the Dragon Shield was being formed and Eriol traveled to the various holds and guard outposts looking for those he thought would do well in the Shield. He spoke to different people and watched the members of the guard go through their training and and duties. He finally decided that Akroma would fit into the Shield unit best and invited her to join, which she eagerly said yes to.
Once at the Weyr, Akroma quickly went to work making sure that she lived up the Shield standards. She loved the Weyr and did everything she could to keep it safe and make it better. When Aeriath had her large clutch, she gave it some thought before she asked one of the search dragons to check her sisters out. Razia was the perfect age and the dragon agreed that she'd make a good candidate.
Shield work kept her busy most of the time but Akroma still managed to be in the stands when Razia Impressed her green dragon. Akroma also started to give her younger sister personal lessons for sword fighting. Razia picked it up fairly quickly and worked hard it. The sisters bonded a bit more though they still get crabby with each other quite often.
Name: Nalaar
Bonded To: Akroma
Color: Brown
Age: 6 Turns
Description: Nalaar is smack dab in the mid-range of brown flitters. He’s not as muscualar or bulky as some browns can get, but has a figure more like a blue, long limbs and sleek. He’s built more for fast travel, sprinting to learn as much as he can as quickly as he can before he wears himself out. Thanks to the rigerious training that Akroma put him through to be used as a Shield flitter, he has more stamina then an average brown his size and build would have. Nalaar’s coloring makes him a bit plain. His underside is a dark brown, almost black if he’s in shaded areas while the rest of him is a few shades lighter, almost the same shade as most of the trees in the area. From the top of his head, down to the tip of his tail, darker splotches of color follow his spine, giving him an almost natural camouflage.
Personality: A well behaved flitter to start with, Nalaar’s training has made him even more calm and mellow. Very little seems to bother the brown. He does have a soft spot for attention. He’s not a shiney dragon so he often gets over looked by most people but he really does like having the back of his neck scratched. Nalaar always likes playfully rough house with people, mainly Akroma. He’ll gently nip and bite at fingers and other things when he starts to play but never draws blood.
When it’s time to go out on patrols or other Shield related missions, Nalaar is all business. Though he can get distracted by things more easily then a bronze or gold would, when he’s sent out by Akroma he always gets the job done as best as he can. He ‘speaks’ in quick, flashing images that are hard for people to make sense of unless their use to him or have a fire lizard of their own to help make sense of it.
History: Shortly after joining the Dragon Shield, Akroma and a few other Shield members were invited to a small flitter hatching. Those of the Shield were given their choice of flitter and Akroma picked out a lanky brown. She named it Nalaar and once it was old enough started to train him so he’d be useful for patrols.
Nalaar took to the training quickly and just like his owner Akroma, worked hard to prove themselves to the rest of the Shield. Though he’s impressed some of the females during flights, he has yet to win one himself.
Cub#4: The Dark One
Name: Shade
Owner/Handler: Akroma
Gender: Male
Age: Two Turns
Description: One thing distinctly separates this boy from his litter mates, his fur is black with lighter spots that aren't far removed from the black of his fur. In fact its hard to see them except in the light. Perfect really for blending in with the trees in the evening. He is the smallest male of his siblings and the second smallest total. He has a longer face as cub that will round out more as he gets older. His nose is black like the rest of him and though his eyes are almost navy blue was a kitten they will become a golden green as he grows older.
Personality: He isn't the dark one just because of his coloring. He really does have a dark side to him. He gets himself into situations he can't possibly get out of. He likes to see how people and things react to what he does. Its like he is trying to get himself killed half the time. He sorta leaps without looking and just does what feels right. Instinct however can only get one so far. Constantly in and out of trouble, there is no doubt he's a little fighter. He often play fights with his siblings and spends a great amount of his time trying to play with animals he should leave alone. His owner is his favorite and possibly the only person he trusts. Do not approach him without his owner's approval, he bites. * Nips your shirt for reading this.
