Appearance: Face Claim: Helen Mirren
An older woman who still show some of the beauty she had in her youth. Her once rich brown hair has all gone gray, and is slowly turning white. She tends to keep it short or pulled back so it's out of her way when working. Her light blue eyes have faded to a more gray tone, though they're still as sharp as they were when she was a girl.
Emera works as hard as any of the younger women in the Weyr, putting a good deal of them to shame. She's not one of those older women who's gotten soft and plump, she's still as slim as a whip and moves like a woman half her age.
During the cooler months, Emera's joints stiffen a bit and she's slowly been forced to do less work herself and more ordering then younger people around.
Unless the woman is going out to help butcher an animal, she's always in skirts or dresses. Most are simple work dresses, nothing fancy and nothing that she'll get upset over if it gets a little dirty.
Personality: Emera thinks she's just as important as the weyrwoman, and in a way she is. If she wasn't around to whip people into shape things would start to fall apart. Without her management people wouldn't know what to do half the time. Big meals would never get planned, knowing when to go to the holds for more food, or new beasts (for both people and dragons), making sure that they have the fabrics to make clothing, that the infirmary gets all the supplies they need, knowing which rooms are open for the new comers and new candidates, making sure that empty ones stay in good shape... People often thinking only of the dragons that fill a weyr and rarely pay attention to all the hard work that goes into running it. Her job is to make sure that the weyrwoman doesn't have to worry about things that don't directly involve the dragons.
Anyone who deals with Emera will quickly realize there are two sides to her; The Headwoman and Emera.
The Headwoman takes her job very seriously. She plays no favorites (as her children learned the hard way) and is more then willing to help whip people into shape through yelling or a good whack on the knuckles with a wooden spoon. And heaven forbid she catch you messing around after she’s sent you on a job. And if there’s some big event going on…
But just because Emera thinks she's important doesn't mean she has a big ego. Of course she likes to hear that she's done a good job but she never expects it. Nor does she ever try to show off or upstage others. She keeps the lower caverns working smoothly by treating everyone around her as equals and with respect. She doesn't think of herself as a boss, she's just the most vocal person in a large team.
When Emera gets a chance to step out of her role as Headwoman, she's a fun, flirty woman. She enjoys the life around her, knowing that she's part of something important and takes a great amount of pride in being a part of it.
She is a mother to many of the people in the Lower Caverns, and to some of the dragon riders as well. Her family has been a part of the weyr from the start and Emera takes pride in her history, often telling embarrassing stories about some of the dragon riders and other weyrbreed. She remembers all the names and can even tell the twins Vaylee and Zaylee apart.
Hobbies/Skills: The woman has many skills. she can do a little bit of everything that goes on in the weyr. She greatly enjoys sewing and knitting though, and enjoying a glass of wine (or a bottle) with some of the older riders. She can still out drink a good number of people in the weyr, and still be up bright and early the next morning.
Pets: Gold Fire lizard Orlai
History: Born into the Weyr, Emera has always been a part of it. Her grandparents were all some of the original exiles and often told her stories about the North and how it differed from their new southern home. She spent much of her youth following around her grandparents, always wanting to know more and never passing up the chance to go for a short flight on one of their dragons.
As soon as she was old enough to hold a broom and walk at the same time, Emera’s mother put her to work helping out and keeping things clean. She taught her eldest daughter how to be a hard worker from an early age and constantly reminded her how the Weyr as a whole was more important then one little girl who was upset that she didn’t get to be carefree like many of the other children.
Not only was Emera helping out around the Weyr, but she was also helping her mother with her younger siblings. Her mother was often busy helping the Headwoman out and directing how things in the kitchen were handled. The fact that her mother had only one hand often made it difficult for her to care for multiple children at once without a little bit of assistance. Emera didn’t mind helping out, her mother loved all of her children but her handicap made things a little harder. Her mother wasn’t such a proud person that she couldn’t ask for help when she needed it, she knew what her limits were and knew how to judge other peoples limits as well. It was that quality that got Emera’s mother the position of Headwoman when the previous one gave it up.
Once Emera was of age to start standing at the Hatchings, her mother had her searched. She was found suitable and became a candidate, now adding candidate lessons on top of her daily chores that she took care of and helping her brothers and sisters out. Though she was always busy, Emera never got to stressed out and even managed to fit a bit of a social life in. She enjoyed always having something to do and never having a dull moment.
Though Emera stood on the sands multiple times she never Impressed. She watched some of her friends and even her younger brother find a dragon but none ever came to her. She was unbothered by this though, dragon riders were important but they couldn’t survive without the people in the Lower Caverns who had never Impressed. Emera’s mother also seemed unsurprised that her oldest daughter never found a lifemate within a dragon egg and started to turn her daughter’s attention to helping run the Lower Caverns.
When Emera was but a young girl of sixteen turns, she met and fell in love with Ojasin, a 21 turn old blacksmith who the Weyr had picked up to do smithing work for them. The two instantly hit it off and no one was surprised that they were married within a few short months and within a year that Emera gave birth to her first child. She barely took any time off from her work in the Lower Caverns before she jumped right back in, often sweeping with her son in one arm or mending clothing while he napped.
After that, Emera started popping out a child every year or so, giving birth to a daughter and another son before she ran into problems and had a few miscarriages. She continued her work for the Weyr, knowing that she was also helping out by giving it more bodies it could use once her children got older. She rarely had a moment of rest, between caring for her children, counseling her siblings, helping her mother take care of her ailing father, and still finding time to sew, cook and cleaning in the Weyr.
Shortly after she gave birth to her daughter Titannali, Ojasin grew sick. He died shortly afterwards, leaving Emera a widow at the age of 23 with four children to care for by herself. Though depressed, she threw herself even more into her work, keeping busy kept her from thinking too much about her late husband. She raised her children by herself with some help from her mother and her siblings that still lived at the Weyr.
She worked hard and moved up the ranks in the Lower Caverns, soon taking over duties in running the kitchen. People already whispered that when her mother passed on the Headwoman position or died Emera was likely to get it. Emera was proud that she was already being thought of for such things but hoped that she wouldn’t have to take on her mother’s responsibilities just yet.
Since she was one of the women in charge of the kitchen, Emera was often sent to the hold to go get the food they needed. During her visits she became friendly with one of the guards who soon started to woo her. She ignored his passes at first, finding them very sweet but not yet willing to give herself to another man. She let herself enjoy being single again, enjoying a few flings with some of the dragon riders, often the males who had lost out on a flight. It was fun but she soon missed the more personal touch that came with being in a relationship with a single man. They dated for a turn before getting married, Gideon moving to the Weyr to help teach there.
The two were a little slower when it came to having children, Emera only giving Gideon three children of his own though he adored her other kids as well. Her mother died a turn after Emera gave birth to her last son Rudeon and Emera gracelessly accepted the title of Headwoman, immediately getting to work and making sure the Weyr ran just as smoothly under her control as it had under her mother.
For the most part things went smoothly for Emera. Her eldest boy Impressed a blue dragon and was well respected for how young he was before he was killed in the forest. Her second husband died suddenly a few turns after that along with one of her younger brothers. Though upset with her loses she held herself together and worked even harder in the Weyr as a way of mourning. But she’s also seen her children grow up and start families of their own, and even seen the birth of her first great grandchild. She continues to run the Lower Caverns with no sign of slowing down yet.

Age: 1 turn
Description: This little Queen holds herself as one in posture and composure. She is a little off of pure Gold with brassy undertones to the main coloring. Along her tail she has small sprinkles of lighter gold mixing in. She is neither large nor small for her color, fitting in just where she should. Her body is feminine but being larger than a green, she an be a little awkward walking. Enamored with the Gold dragons of the Weyr, she likes to mimic them and so poses much like a dragon as often as possible. In fact she rarely holds back at all. As for her favorite things to do they would be eating, sleeping and then eating some more. She's still growing but she might always have eyes bigger than her stomach. Her most favored position is to sit upright on Emera's shoulder, tail wrapping its way around her neck.
History: From the Betwitching Egg, a small muzzle was seen first. She had to be the first one to hatch! She was glorious and deserved to be in whatever order she wanted! After breaking through her shelled imprisonment she scanned the area about her, pieces of shell sticking to her wings. While most of them were transfixed on her and sending her all the emotions she deserved only one was wise enough to put down the food that she was seeking. Moving toward the Headwoman for the meat and the promise of more meat, she felt the emotions coming from Emera and let out a sweet little croon in return. The firelizard let the woman know through her emotional connection that more food was needed to sate her appetite.
