Ajani- 40 one of his foster mother’s and one of the head women in the kitchen
Kozil- 42 husband to Ajani. He helps care for many of the animals at the weyr
Drana, Kalastra and Bala – 22, 16, 13 Foster sisters.
Pennon, Halim- 21, 18 Foster brothers
Appearance: Face Claim: Chris Pine
Beleren is a good looking guy and knows it. He’s made those young kitchen girls swoon with just a quick smirk and a wink. His brown hair is always a little messy, like a girl has just been running their hands through it. His light blue eyes always seem to twinkle with some glint of mischief. Beleren is one of those guys that always has just a little bit of stubble on his face. Ten minutes after he shaves and it seems to be there, just enough to darken the lower half of his face a bit but never growing out to more then a day or twos worth of stubble.
Between running away to get out of trouble, to helping out in the kitchens and wherever else an extra hand was needed, Beleren has managed to keep himself in good shape. Not that he would need to though, he seems to be one of those guys who can eat everything yet never gains any weight. Many of the kitchen girls hate him for this.
Beleren keeps his clothing casual. Something that looks nice on him, nothing too neat or fancy though. But it also has to be lose enough that he can move around freely, never know when an angry boyfriend or weyrmate might show up while he’s in the middle of flirting with someone.
Personality: Beleren likes to think of himself as a smooth and charming rogue, a Robin Hood sort of figure if Pern had Robin Hood. A champion for the weak that always slips away from the cruel tyrants just before they catch him. And someone who’s always got the ladies throwing themselves at him. Of course his little dream world isn’t how things always are but that doesn’t stop him from thinking it.
He’s also a flirt. He loves to charm the young ladies, sweet words and small gifts do wonders. And it’s not just the young pretty ones either, he’ll take a moment to complement the older women as well. And if it’ll make a guy feel awkward, Beleren has no problems flirting with them as well. He’s not interested in guys but he’s comfortable with himself and takes pleasure in embarrassing other guys.
While most people probably think that Beleren is a womanizer, he’s not as bad as most would think. Until he Impressed Zeuth and started flights he had never actually slept with anyone. He doesn't want to be the father of some unwanted child like he was so he still tries to avoid the risk of pregnancy. He's never had a problem though with letting everyone thing he was a man whore and in fact enjoys the rumors of how many women he's managed to woo.
Any dare that’s made around him, Beleren takes. No matter how crazy or stupid it is. He enjoys being a bit reckless and something of a daredevil.
Beleren has his serious side too. He hates seeing any of his family get hurt. Any man who tries to woo his foster sisters had better watch out, if Beleren doesn’t like what he sees or hears, he will do something about it.
Hobbies/Skills: Some slight of hand, he likes to try and charm girls by being able to pull a flower out of no where for them. He’s good at running, climbing (rocks, trees), swimming, lots of outdoor physical things.
Pets: He likes spinners and tries to keep a couple in a box, not so much as pets but as material for pranks.
History: Beleren doesn’t know who his real parents are, he was left with the headwoman to be fostered as a baby and his mother just never came back. Growing up he would hear different stories from whoever had drawn the short straw and had to watch him for the day. Sometimes his mother was a green rider and his father was a bronze rider, other times his mother was the youngest daughter of an important holder who had to give him up least she be blackmailed into doing vile things. More likely though, she had just been some young kitchen maid who got pregnant by a man who would never marry her.
Beleren never really cared, he called all the children his brothers and sisters, any adult who would take the time to displine him was a temporary mother or father. He was cared for mostly by a woman named Ajani. She raised him as if he was another one of her own children.
As a younger children, Beleren was that annoying little brother. He would sneak into peoples rooms, mostly rooms belonging to teenage girls, and steal their private possessions like their diary, or bad poetry, or anything else he could get his little hands on. He would examine whatever he found and find something embarrassing he could do with his new knowledge; telling the girls crush about her, reading the poetry loudly in a full Weyrhall… Though sometimes he would feel empathy for the person and do something nicer, leaving a wildflower for someone who was sad, finding lost pets, whatever.
As he got older, people hoped that Beleren would mellow out a little bit, find a craft he enjoyed doing and draw less attention from the dragon riders. And he did, a little. He stopped stealing things from the girls (or at least returned their things before they noticed it was missing), and caused a little less havoc for a while. He was only quiet though so he could watch people better and through spying learned the art of flirting. Then he returned more to his old ways; flinching food, ‘borrowing’ things from people, going out of his way to embarrasses someone, and now he did it while making the girls giggle and blush.
It was during one of his calmer moods that Beleren was searched. Though he had grown up in the Weyr he had never given much thought to being a dragon rider. It had always been one of those day dreams that was talked about only when the boredom of kitchen work really kicked in. But when the blue rider said he’d make a good candidate, Beleren decided to go for it, it would at least get his foster mother to stop asking when he was going to do something better for himself.
When it came time for the hatching, Beleren stood on the sands, excited and proud to be there. He watched and cheered for all his fellow weyrbrats that Impressed, and even for the Northerners since an Impressed dragon was better then no. His confidence never wavered, if there was a dragon here it would find him when it was good and ready to. If there was no dragon for him then he was happy that he had at least seen his friends find their bondmates. But towards the middle of the hatching, his egg hatched. A massive red tinted bronze made his not-so-genital way through the boys and found Beleren, claiming him as his new rider.
Weyrling lessons were harder then he had expected them to be, being on a bronze didn't mean he got a free pass. But the young man worked hard at them, trying to prove that he was suited to be a bronze rider. He manged to impress (or at least not embarrass himself) D'seus and earned a spot on the bronze riders Shadow Wing.
Name: Zeuth (Zay-ooth)
Impressed To: Beleren (B'ren)
Color: Bronze
Age: Twenty months
Description: Even for a bronze, Zeuth is large. A rather massive creature, he will one day grow colossal enough to stand only a few feet under his mother in size. Not only is he bigger than the average dragons of his color, this bronze is also a practical powerhouse. Blessed with enormous muscle, Zeuth will certainly be one of if not the strongest dragons in Refuge one day. A deep chest coupled with long, powerful legs give him the endurance and speed to rival any dragon he wishes in the air. With massive wings, Zeuth will certainly be the toughest one to beat when he matures. In coloring, this dragon is also intimidating, for his hide is a deep, reddish bronze that appears almost crimson in the right light. When the sun strikes him in a certain way, Zeuth’s body nearly seems to burn in the light, his blood-hued hide gleaming magnificently. Along with his neckridges, his paws are so dark they appear nearly black, contrasting starkly against his red claws.
Personality: If you were to sum up Zeuth in a single word, it would be valorous. Extremely courageous, this bronze is not afraid of anything, and will put himself in any danger in the bat of an eye. With no regard for his own safety, this dragon thinks only of his duty and his weyr, and he makes a practically perfect soldier. His bravery will never be contested; no matter how jealous other dragons may be, no one will ever be able to deny Zeuth’s gallant personality. Along the same lines, he is also extremely chivalrous, and any green or gold alike will adore his courteous mannerisms when it comes to the female gender. Holding a deep respect for any lady dragon, this bronze will never be a shameless flirt. He will mean every compliment he pays with the sincerest reverence.
Also rather strong-willed, Zeuth will be a very powerful personality. Only queens will be able to order this dragon around; there is not a single bronze, perhaps aside from his father, that will hold a stronger will than he. His bonded will find him extremely hard to control when he puts his mind to something, and so will need an equally iron will to keep him in line. This is perhaps his single flaw; but conversely, it is likely that Zeuth will never stray in this way. He will be too focused on excelling at everything to even consider using his mighty prowess to disobey his bonded. He is a good-humored bronze, though, and enjoys verbally jesting with his rider, or any dragon who is up to the task. Zeuth may be very valorous, but he isn’t stoic, in fact he would rather be talking than anything when he isn’t busy with his duties. This bronze enjoys company, and will perhaps even talk to someone other than His if they seem interesting enough.
History: From the moment Zeuth broke free from his egg, he was getting attention. The bronze was a massive, well muscular dragonet with an odd red tint to his hide. He didn't leave people wondering for long on who he would Impress, quickly shoving and pushing through the boys to find Beleren and make sure the young man knew he was now Zeuth's.
While dragon and rider clearly love each other, both young males can be quite stubborn and often disagree about things. Though young, Zeuth is very interested in making a good impression on the golds in the weyr. B'ren is more interested in any female and just enjoys flirting with them, even if they aren't a gold rider. B'ren has cut down on some of his shameless flirting to try and keep his bronze happy but the subject is still a source of constant disagreement.
Once fully grown, Zeuth showed that he wasn't just going to be a big hatchling, but a big dragon in general. He's the largest, both in length and girth, bronze on Pern and is quite proud of that fact. B'ren and him have continued to work their way up in the Weyr, even getting the chance to fly in one of Aeriath's flights. The pair didn't win but neither had gone into the flight expecting something like that. Instead, they've continued to prove themselves and show that they are leadership material.
