Appearance:
Looks can be deceiving. Such words are proven correct when it comes to the middle-aged woman who thinks weight-lifting is fun. Yylyevya is a thin woman whose only weight comes from her near solid muscle. Although it isn't too prominent on the tall and skinny woman, Yylyevya is nothing but lean muscle and sinew. Her body feels as if it's made of steel, and she certainly has a rigid posture that suggests this is so.
Once upon a time, Yylyevya's hair was the same reddish brown that her younger siblings still sport. Now her hair is the same distinguished silver as her twin brother's. Another thing Yylyevya shares with Uthew is a set of hazel eyes that are prominently blue with flecks of brown around the pupil.
Personality:
To a stranger, Yylyevya can appear callous and uncaring. Some might even find her biting retorts and surliness to be downright mean. In truth, Yylyevya is just an odd kind of shy. New people are unfamiliar, and she doesn't know how to handle them. As a result, Yylyevya shuts down and tells them to leave or does so herself.
Around people she has come to feel comfortable around, Yylyevya is something of a dork. She likes odd things and has been called out for her odd behavior several times. She likes to feels the stones in the walls, talk to inanimate objects, and catch bugs to talk to.
Yylyevya is a person who craves interpersonal contact even though it may not seem that way at first. When she gets comfortable enough, she likes to sprawl herself all over her companions and nuzzle into their warmth. She loves going to sleep curled against someone in a completely platonic manner.

- Masterfully wields a double-bladed battle axe
- Few can match her orienteering skills
- Throws a mean hatchet
- Good head for detail memorization
- Takes orders well
- Good at cooking in the field
Pets: N/A
History:
Every aspect of Yylyevya's life has belonged to and been dictated by the needs of the Weyr. Her parents served the Weyr faithfully until the day they died. Although they did so in very different capacities. Her father was a member of the Guard, and her mother was a server in the grand weyrhall. Teadil had once been a member of the guard as well, but a training accident had caused her to lose most of the functions of her right and dominant arm.
Because of her parents positions as an active and former member of the guard, Yylyevya and her younger twin brother decided that was what they aspired to be from the moment they even knew what dreams were. Dragons were never really Yylyevya or Uthew's cup of tea, but they were happy when their smallest sister managed to Impress a Green at her third Hatching.
Mercie died of wet-lung disease before she could graduate, and Yylyevya doesn't think she'll ever hear a sound as heart-broken as the one that had come from Civouth before the Green betweened in grief. The death of their sister caused the middle sister to drop out of candidacy, and she slipped into the role of a cook. Kead, on the other hand, decided that he would be a rider since his little sister had never had the chance to become a proper one. He would be the rider she never got to be, but as fate had it, he wasn't destined to be a rider any more than his disheartened elder sister.
Yylyevya comforted Kead in his failure and showed him that there were other ways to serve the Weyr. She convinced her brother to go into Beastcrafting where he would meet his future weyrmate.
Uthew and Yylyevya trained and apprenticed for the guard, and eventually joined the elite ranks of those who swore to protect the Weyr. Their family was happy for them. The night of their acceptance into the guard was the first night since Mercie's death that the whole family had come together for a celebration. That night was one of Yylyevya's happiest.
A few years later on Yylyevya's thirty-third birthday, a young woman invited Yylyevya to try for the Dragon Shield. It wasn't easy obtaining a rank in the elite group of fighters, but years in the guard had made her hard in mind and body. The young woman, Netera, became Yylyevya's first partner. Yylyevya and Netera fell in love despite the knowledge that their work was dangerous, and the became weyrmates. Their union only lasted a year and a half before Netera was cruelly ripped from Yylyevya when she made a mistake in the field that caused her to fall into a swift moving river. Yylyevya was unable to get the rope unwound and to Netera fast enough, and her weyrmate was knocked unconscious against a large stone and drowned.
The death of Yylyevya's weyrmate touched her deeply, and it also made Uthew even more reluctant to join the Shield than he already was. Eventually Uthew decided that as much as he loved the Weyr and his twin sister, he would not join. He had his own family. Uthew still checks in with Yylyevya before and after every mission.
