[This will be a training exercise set up for Shadow Wing by new Wing 2nd T'shiro of bronze Crucluith. He hasn't told anyone where he go the idea for it, but he's going to use the game to get to know the wing's capability on the ground a little better -so he'll be doing a little evaluation from a distance and possibly offering his own combat advice as he watches the pairs -as Shiled members arrive and end up getting involved, they should feel free to share combat advice at the end of the matches, from their expertise. He will eventually get in on the sparring as well.
The game involves two fighting sticks cut from 1-2 in thick bamboo and several coloured strips of cloth: Green, Blue, Red, Black, Yellow, Orange.
Each coloured cloth is tied around a different body part: head, neck, arm, leg, knee, elbow. Each participant ties their coloures in a diff. spot.
When the spar begins, whichever combatant leads in the first attack calls out a random colour and both contestants must focus on attacks that target the area of that colour cloth.
i.e. T'shiro calls Black. His Black cloth is on his knee. His opponents black cloth is on his neck. T'shiro must guard his new 'weak point' -the black knee- and target his attacks on his opponents neck.
After a few minutes, the other person will call a different colour, and they are forced to change their tactics of attack and guarding their own 'weak points'.
Points are scored by tagging the area of (knees, head, neck, biceps, elbows, thighs of said colours) of your opponent.
Please state at the top of your first post where your colours are tied on your person so your opponent is aware.

((Head: Red; Neck: Blue, Upper arms: Black; Elbows: Orange; Knees: Green; Upper legs: Yellow))
T'shiro had sidled up to a fence row on the sidelines of the sparring grounds that Shadow Wing had reserved for the afternoon, and hopped to sit atop it. Attentive hazel orbs peered across the groups he'd organized to make sure all understood the assignment, watching as they took up fighting sticks and tied coloured strips of fabric about their limbs.
T'shiro's own dual bamboo sticks were tucked beneath his belt at the back of his trousers and flashes of colour were already knotted everywhere, since he gave the first demonstration. But he would join the sparring soon, too.
The bronzerider was glad for the chance to step up as Wing Second, and even more greatful when the Wingleader had given him the opportunity to lead some traing exercises.
If all was successful, the exercise should engage them in a way that was a little different than a typical spar and eventually, they might be able to work in other types of practice weapons to advance the activity -or pair them with mixed weapons...
T'shiro's reasoning for preferring the bamboo sticks for Shadow Wing was for the simple reason that blunt weapons like sticks typically, were far less lethal, but could be used to stun and disable opponents.
Appearance wise, they were also less threatening; therefore, riders could carry them around more freely when in the eye of the general public than they could a dangerous weapon like a sword. Watching dragonriders wave around pointy weapons around common folk could just be enough to cause undercurrents of dissention; which the Weyrs did not need, especially in current political climate.
As T'shiro considered the dual weapons, his eyes narrowed, thinking back to that day of the Holdless attacks...feeling the tension in his muscles and the weight of two short swords in his hands. His body probably visibly tensed for a moment, but exhaling deeply, the rider let the tention out with that breath, and his eyes re-focused on another sparring pair in the present.
T'shiro continued for a few moments longer watching over the sparring pairs as they began calling out their first target colours. He would make sure they were all started in the exercise before jumping in.
