Hey Everyone,
I've greatly enjoyed my time on this site that I stumbled upon a year ago and hoped to have fun here. I've found though that to be the opposite despite advertising like a maniac for the site and having one of the highest post counts I've been left without a high ranking character. My characters are unable to get involved with plots as easily as other people and it seems that you have to be staff or know someone in real life to get a gold on this site. It would have been okay not even to get the gold if most of the threads I start are never replied to or finished. The people I rp with never finish them such as a mating flight when I've participated in all of theirs. I wish the site the best of luck and just wished my efforts had been more appreciated. Freya

Freya,
I am sorry you have had a bad experience. I have tried to get your characters more involved in the site multiple times and hbk is not a staff member and has the second highest ranked character on the board. Queen Rhiannoth, whom you did not attempt to write a bio for when we had the contest. Your character Impressed a Bronze dragon, whom you seldom got involved in plots with. Your goal has been to Impress Trelia to a Gold and I did tell you from the start she was unlikely to Impress one (but you insisted).
side note: I am the creator of the site and have neither the Weyrleader nor the Weyrwoman or even a Gold dragon... Oh and I've never met anyone on the site in RL. I've only rped with Smara on other sites and that is why I asked her to be my co-admin. When Rhiannoth and Aeriath were abandoned and we only had Elynth we decided one admin controlled Queen was necessary. Rhiannoth was adopted through a Board wide contest that anyone was allowed to participate in but only two apps were received.
Staff members getting Queens is purely because they play them, have amazing plots with them and have great bios. Members who have the right character for the Queen will Impress Golds too. All Queen dragons should not pick people of the same mold. We want diverse Queen-riders.
As for your characters not being involved in plots, most people who attempted to rp with you found it very difficult to do so. (I'm sorry I did try to help you with your writing skill). You often ignored other characters actions and or words in your posts and had very little to add to a thread. Your thoughts were jumbled and hard to follow and your characters were often simply wandering or sitting, not doing anything in particular that would spur someone to join a Thread.I encouraged you play your characters before starting mating flights but you gave it all of two weeks and your green was in the air. No one had time to get attached or get to know her at all. And after we had a bunch of flights in a row people were tired of them.
While I understand your frustration, I pmed you many times thanking you for your activity and participation in flights and ooc. (I'm sure other people have also received such pms from me)
Thank you for your time and energy advertising. I wish you the best of luck finding a site that will suit you better.
HG
If anyone is feeling under-appreciated or that the staff is being biased please pm me. I would prefer to handle these things privately. Thank you.

I'll be 100% honest with this and lay it all out with no holding back; I'm not sad to see you go Freya.
My interactions with you while I had been a member of the site were outright rude; I would try to give you constructive criticism in your profiles and posts to help you develop your writing skills more and would be met with rude remarks along the line of "mind your damn business." You went an adopted around seve or so characters in a row, even when staff and other members advised you to take it slow. In the end you had to be banned from adopting any moreuntil you developed the army of characters you had -- which never even happened.
All your posts consisted of the same thing; a character doing nothing or wandering around aimlessly, not to mention the sentence strucure was sometimes confusing and a headache on its own to decipher. All candidate posts could be resumed along the lines of "woe is me, i've yet to impress, oh woe is me a dragon will never want me."
Even then R'kin still impressed a Bronze, a high ranking dragon with possibility of futurely becoming either a wingleader and/or weyrleader. I rarely saw you play him, and then the kid was a spineless and shy/awkward boy/man just hoping things went right in his life without lifting a finger. If I ever saw anything of Krestanovith directly it was so little that I don't even know to this date what that bronze's personality is like.
Not to mention Krestanovith is one of the biggest bronzes around that can give a run for their money to all the others. Only Zeuth was larger, and not by much I think.
Nayza didn't get the gold and I'm not crying over it; heck she got injured by it instead. There will be more future flights and more chances at other Queen Eggs; but a high ranking draogn doesn't make the character. YOU make the character; and frankly all of yours were cut from the same "woe is me, i don't know what to do with my life, someone give me meaning" mold. I get involved with my characters as often as possible; I even dropped R'fer 'cause I knew I couldn't give him the justice he deserved at the time even though I loved Issiodorensith to death. I often had to remind you to reply to the candidat lesson with Nayza; and you never replied with both characters in the same row: it was either Sareen or Trelia at a time.
And even then, when I gave them an opportunity to take the lead in the group you did nothing.
You were given chances, and guidelines and all the help we could offer to make you a better role player; but it either wasn't enough or you just didn't care. You need to learn a gold doesn't make you awesome; you make yourself awesome in how you develop your characters. Heck, look at the Brat Pack -- Hinuk managed to get them firelizard eggs (those who were active) and in the process almost got trampled by the whole herd of herdbeasts. And I didn't stick him with the biggest egg; no. I went and smashed the smallest one by "mistake" (it really was on purpose of my part) to get him bonded to the most pissed off green firelizard in existance.
Why? Because it helps characters grow and develop. I never depended on someone else to get my characters moving, I'd alwys try to put them in the most interesting of situations and problems to give other people that spark and want to get involved.
I hope you find a site that better suits your taste; but don't undermine all th effort we placed in you to help you grow as a member just because you didn't impress a gold.
P.S.: I know none of the other staff members in RL; or even from past boards. I met them all here, because I got involved.
P.S.S.: If any other members find things unfair, much like HG said, feel free to contact us and tell us of your worries. We don't bite at all; and we're more than eager to help you grow and become better members for it. Already the second highest ranking gold, Rhiannoth, is owned by a member (hbk) and the third highest ranking gold Elynth is also owned by another member (Parallel). We are anything but biased, and sometimes will give high ranking dragons like bronzes to people that might not seem fully fitting to challenge you and help you grow. But the dragon doesn't make the character, you make the character. It's why you're encouraged to join with no pets and no firelizards; so you focus on developing them as themselves; and not needing other influences to make them amazing.
