They were told to head to the Weyrling barracks to get their dragonets situated in their new quarters once they were done eating. It was new for Sh'ara too, she was moving from the Candidate barracks in to this new place. She was looking forward to a nap, and Little Unciath was starting to get full and sleepy.
Sh'ara-mine why are you feeding me so slowly? Why can't you hurry up? I've decided I don't like eating so slowly. Are you sure this itchy stuff will come off? Were just a few of the questions the little blue was asking as she filled his maw full time and again.
Sh'ara answered each question as they came. She didn't even realize she wasn't talking out loud. The soft voice asked the questions between bites and she was hard pressed to keep up with Unciath's questions.
I'm feeding you slowly so you won't choke, this is your first real meal you know. No I can't hurry up. I'm sorry if you don't like to eat so slowly, when you get a little bigger it won't matter quite so much, but for now, we will go slowly. Please try to chew a little bit instead of just swollowing it might help. Yes I am very sure the sand will come off, it already is, and soon you won't notice. If it still bothers you I will get a rag and rub you down. The girl was grinning ear to ear as they progressed through the bucket of carefully prepared meat.
It wasn't long before Unciath yawned so hard he almost fell over. Sh'ara stuck her leg straight out and caught the clumbsy baby before he reached to grab her to keep from falling over, she really didn't want to join Tishu in the infirmary. Once Unciath was stablized, he decided to chew the meat a little bit before swollowing.
This is much easier shara-mine chewing does help make it taste better and for it to go down easier. Thank you for wanting what was best for me. YYAAAAWWWWNNNN! Why am I so sleepy? I am full, can I sleep now. I want to sleep now.[/color] The little blue stated as his rider to be helped steady him.
Sh'ara ignored the rest of his questions and gave him a few more bites to eat before standing up to get a damp rag to wipe his face down. Once she was finished doing that, she took a few quick swipes at the sand that was still stuck in places on his hide. She hoped it helped, she didn't want him itching while he was trying to sleep.
Come on handsome one, lets go find our bed. It isn't far I promise. See, there goes some of your clutchmates heading for their beds too. I'm also tired. I think I'll take a nap with you. She told the sleepy blue as she led him out away from the hatching sands and his siblings that were still eating. It didn't surprise her that he wasn't the last done even if he was the last hatched. Unciath was a bit on the small size but time would tell if he would grow out of it.
The pair entered their new home with Sh'ara's hand on the back of Unciath's head. She found her things bundled on the table with a note that said to choose a bunk. Gathering her things she watched Unciath as he wandered around the large room filled with small dragon couches and beds for the new weyrlings.
Choose one you want Unciath, then i will join you. She encouraged the tired blue.
I will chose the best one for us because we deserve it. He answered as he inspected the empty places. First he looked at the couches then the beds. Once in awhile he would put his paw on the bed as if testing it before moving to the couch to do the same.
It didn't take him long before he was satisfied with his choice, without a word he tried to climb up onto a stone couch. Sh'ara hurried over and helped the clumbsy little blue up on his bed. She watched and waited to see if he needed more help before putting her bundle of clothes on the bed. Unciath needed no further help, he circled around his couch a few times, clawed it here and there, then his legs fell out from under neath him at the same time and he landed on his belly with his legs spread out on the front and back of him, with his head on her pillow.
Smilling, Sh'ara didn't waste any time, she stretched out on her bed, and wrapped her arm around the little blue snout before falling fast asleep herself. She didn't know what had made her so very tired, but it didn't matter now. She would sleep well until Unciath needed fed again just before the Hatching Feast.
