Helea- Mother, 42
Siblings:
Monellis; brother, 20
Rosata; sister, 14
Phaedyn; brother, 12
Secilee; Sister, 7
Neelu; Sister, 5
Appearance:
PB: Andrew Cooper
A tall young man at around 6'3½", Kethemar is not a stick figure. He has a well-muscled build from working with the other fishermen. He has good posture which helps him balance when at sea and also keeps him more coordinated on land. His body has numerous small barely discernible scars all over it from Turns of getting himself into dangerous situations. He tends to let his hair grow over his ears but not long enough where he has to do anything with it. His light brown hair is highlighted from candlemarks spent in the sunlight. Generally his hair is messy and unkempt because who really spends time dealing with their hair?
He has an oval shaped head, with a small chin. High cheekbones create definition on his face. The middle of which is separated by a slightly wide nose. His eyes are sky blue, not gray or even dark blue. When you look at them you think of the sky on a sunny day. He has long light brown lashes that lack curl which makes them blend in more with his face. His eyebrows are straight and a bit thin but again sort of blend with his face. He has well shaped lips which are neither small or large but somewhere in the middle. From being at sea, they are often dark and chapped. The skin on his face is dry and leathery from the salt, the wind and the sun. Extensive time in the outdoors has made him a golden tan color although he would have been pale had he stayed inside.
He wears comfortable clothes which are generally worn out. He has very few clothes without tears or holes in them and often refuses to let his mother fix them. He likes his worn out sandals the best for shoes but he would prefer not to wear any.
Personality:
Kethemar is what we would call a bit of a bad boy. He seeks out danger more than has it run into him. Although both happen to him. He has an unpredictable nature which can be good or bad depending on what he is supposed to be doing. He is more like the sea he lives off of than he realizes. Because of his unpredictable nature people often let him lead friendships and other relationships and conversations. He likes things to be spontaneous and hates long drawn out plans. That's not to say he lacks intelligence. Quite the opposite actually, Kethemar is so intelligent things which take a long time to explain bore him. He already has the gist of it, move on people.
Often he considers himself an adventurer. Kethemar does not balk at trying new things, he will try anything once. Or even twice if he lives through the experience the first time. He thrives on adrenaline rushes and is often viewed as a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Kethemar refuses to be like everyone else and will go out of his way to not conform to the normal. He wants to be different, unique and will often act out in order to seem that way. It is his belief that all rules were made to be broken which he does all the time. This creates in him a more laid back feeling. He would be happy to sit on the beach for a while and watch the sunset after he does something completely off the wall.
When he is not getting into trouble or jumping off of cliffs or breaking rules he is dealing with the emotional turmoil all of this leaves him in. He is often the prey of his own lifestyle. He has trouble dealing with emotions and will often act on emotions without thinking about the consequences. This is partially due to his inability to withhold how he is feeling in situations that would require someone more emotionally and mentally mature than himself.
The great thing about the adventurous youth is his passion and zest for life. The new experiences and daily surprises keep him and many other people laughing and enjoying life. Even when life seems to be at its worst, he can find something good about it. He has a bit of a roguish charm to him which often lands him in romantically difficult situations. He is definitely not the type to be with one woman forever. Ladies, he can't even commit to one emotion at a time, let alone one woman.
Hobbies/Skills: Fishing, making nets, sailing ships, swimming, doing and pulling off dangerous stunts.
Pets:N/A
History:
Kethemar was born the second child of a pair of poor fishcrafters. While the fishcraft trade is an integral part of feeding Pern, it doesn't pay very well, and Kethemar's mother just kept pushing out more kids. Kethemar ended up being just one of six children and that is probably why he developed such a need for attention. With his father's focus solely on his older brother Monellis and his mother's attention on the oldest girl- Rosata, Kethemar found himself getting into more and more trouble. At least when he was pulling a prank or getting himself punished he was capturing a moment of their time. Although, truth be told, Kethemar couldn't blame his parents completely for his behaviour, there was a certain thrill about stealing a set of bubblies put out to cool, or pilfering through the Captain of the Guard's personal trunk.
Some people even found a bit of humor in his pranks, and hey, if he could break into the Captain of the Guard's room he must have some talent and a future in the Guard right? The slight admiration of the people fed Kethemar's need for attention and soon the boy found himself pulling off more and more outrageous pranks, to the chagrin of his parents.
When he wasn't dashing around the Hold, as Kethemar grew older he found himself spending more and more time learning the fishing trade from his family. The craft came easily to Kethemar, however, and he soon found himself bored and looking for ways to make the routine fishing trips into adventures.
Kethemar's quest for adventure landed him in serious trouble when he was sixteen as he decided it would be a fun idea to sail his small boat out into the middle of the storm. Things were going well, the breakers were crashing over his boat, but he laughed whenever his small vessel would tilt and take on water. As the storm grew Kethemar quickly found himself in trouble, and when the boat crashed among the shoals, Kethemar found himself washed ashore with a broken arm. Of course the healer's orders of 'bed rest' were met with a roll of the eyes by Kethemar and before the day was up he was already sneaking back through the Hold, his arm in a sling.
While Kethemar has many acquaintances, he lacks true friends, mostly because of his ambiguous and capricious nature. If a person can't keep up with Kethemar's rapidly changing moods, and spontaneous need for adventure then the young man leaves them sitting in his dust.
Having never given a serious thought to life outside of his Hold, Kethemar was faced with a new reality when Thread began to fall. With its arrival food in the stores began depleting more rapidly until they were given meager rations. With six children in his family, Kethemar saw his mother and father giving up the portions of their food more and more often to his younger siblings.
Dragon Info
Name: Tsevoth
Color: Bronze
Age: > 1
Description:
Tsevoth is a richly colored bronze, although in hue he is rather light. The soft, golden caramel color of his hide is solid, and only darkness marginally beneath his belly and wings. The largest of his clutch, Tsevoth is a compact, but musclar bronze that promises to be a strong, independent adult dragon.
Personality:
Tsevoth is young and rash. The bronze doesn't yet understand that he can't have everything his way. Tsevoth can often be cranky when dealing with his dragon siblings, but is quickly becoming more courteous, thanks to the discipline of his lifemate- K'mar. As with most bronzes, Tsevoth understands that he is at the top of the caste rank of dragons and can be a little arrogant.
History:
Tsevoth hatched at Issarith's first Hatching at Refuge Weyr. When he hatched the bronze was more than upset with some of his lifemates who insisted on getting in his way and hindering him as he tried to get to his rider. Tsevoth was more than willing to shove the others out of his way, and snap at them if need be.
