The sunlight winked and twinkled off the surface of the slightly ripply water, beaming hot and true down on any hide revealed to it. It was a nice Summer day, and true to the Southern climate, it was plenty humid to go along with it. Enough so to make even those who were used to it wish they had gills. Standing in the edge of the water and making her own ripples against the surface, Toyi was rubbing some of Alyrath's oil over her own tawny skin. Most of which was quite revealed given she was standing there in nothing but her undergarments.
Alyrath was already in the water, previously washed and oiled, lounging in what to her was the shallows. Head sprawled out in the cool water, she merely watched her rider some several dozen yards away on the shore. Her mottled tree-shadow colored hide was even more mottled looking due to the recent oiling and being wet, giving a deceptive illusion to being in the cool shade of a tree even though she was quite plainly in full sun.
Your skin doesn't crack in between mine, why do you oil your hide too? She asked, for the umpteenth time in her life. As intelligent as she was for a Green, Alyrath was still a Green with the memory of one. If it was more than three days ago, she couldn't recall it.
"Because, my love, my hide does burn. Oiling it keeps me from burning. It also keeps me from cracking from all the time I spend trying to keep yours clean." Toyi answered as if it was the first time the question had been asked - as she always did. Flicking her fingers to dislodge the excess oil on them, she waded into the water up to her shins. "Oh, the water is warm and cold at the same time!!" She protested, enjoying the coolness of it yet unwilling to just dive in just yet. Despite being warmed by the sun, it was still considerably cooler than the air, and made her skin bunch up with gooseflesh.
Alyrath only snorted into the water, causing to cascade toward her rider and fall far short in a sparkling fountain fashion. Amusement clearly colored the Green's slowly churning eyes. Toyi giggled in answer to the oh-so-expressive gesture, guarding against the splash despite how it fell far too short. "Are you trying to tell me something?!" Toyi shot out at her, amusement coloring her own tone.
Only that there's someone coming. Alyrath warned, changing the topic and fully aware that her rider would never hear approaching footsteps.
Blindsided by the comment's random nature and yet used to exactly those sorts of things, Toyi was glad that her dragon warned her of these things. Turning about where she stood in the water, she lifted a hand to shade her eyes as she squinted to see who it was that was approaching. Out here in the weyrbowl lake, it could be anyone ... hopefully not a Holdless, though she highly doubted it was. Alyrath would have reacted far differently.

Achilleth was complaining about being itchy in a few spots so A'miri gathered up his dragon cleaning kit. Checking to make sure there was enough sweetsand and oil in the pots he placed the lids on them securley before adding them to the bag with the rags and scrub brush. He debated on strapping the bronze up and decided against it for the short flight to where he wanted to go. Instead of the full straps he added just one around the bronzes neck to tie the bag with the supplies in it and for a hand grip. To balance out the load he added a basket with some food and wine in it. Hopping aboard he gave Achilleth the go ahead to take off. Once airborne the bronze flapped his wings once for added height and then glided down toward the lake. He caught site of a green floating in the water and knew her rider would be close by. Achilleth decided to join her. Both he and his rider needed ompany sometimes. Its Alyrath and her rider. I wish to join them. Achilleth said as he spiriled down to land. Ok, sounds good to me. Try not to spray them with too much sand ok? A'miri said as they got closer. "Hey Toyi, mind if we join you? Achilleth wants a bath and I brought food and wine." A'miri greeted the greenrider as they landed.

Toyi managed to miss most of the first part of what A'miri said due to circumstances despite her paying close attention to the Rider as he arrived. About the only part she picked up was the 'I brought food and wine'. Which brought a smirk to her face.
"That sounds like a bribe to me." She teased, without realizing there had been rather a lot more said right before that. Tilting her head to one side as she allowed her shading hand to fall, she considered the dragon and rider perched before her on the beach. "Now to figure out what it's a bribe for." She added, continuing in her previous teasing tone.
Um, mine? Alyrath cautioned, lifting her head clear of the water, fully aware that Hers had apparently missed a whole lot of that. Greetings Achilleth. She issued hastily, hoping to smooth over any unduly ruffled feathers with some formality.
At the semi warning from her dragon, Toyi paused noticeably, aware now that she'd missed something. Which, sadly, happened far more than she liked to admit. But what had she missed? It was as much a mystery to her as the daylit world was to a wher. "Sure is hot today, isn't it?" She offered, hoping that the least said the quickest mended would work in this instance. Of course, she had yet to move from where she was shin deep in the water, as well.

"Ummmmmm...." Was all he could manage. "Yes it sure is hot today." He stammered before climbing down from Achilleth. A'miri had the sneaking suspision that the greenrider didn't hear all he said. He was pretty distracted by a wet body standing in underthings knee deep in water. It didn't leave anything to the imagination. A'miri busied himself with taking the food basket and the dragon kit off and then unstrapping the one belt he had put around Achilleth's neck. Giving the bronze a slap on the shoulder he dismissed him to play in the water awhile. Achilleth lumbered carefully past Toyi and dove in when he got deep enough. He swam underwater for a bit before surfacing close to Alyrath. Interesting...what humans do when they are attracted to each other. I for one am glad we dragons don't play catch-me-if-you-can with each other except in flight. The big bronze said nuzzling the green in greeting.

Toyi was a tad bemused by A'miri's reaction and answer. She wasn't really sure, but she was suspecting that that flattening of his expression had had some sound behind it despite how his lips hadn't moved to form any. His short answer of agreeing with the statement on the weather left Toyi at a loss for words herself. Not the most experienced in human interactions beyond the first few lines, she wasn't at all sure what to say next, especially with no obvious opening. She eyed the baskets and the kit for a moment before going back to watching A'miri just in case he happened to say anything else.
Alyrath arched her neck as Achilleth came up abreast of her, quite glad for the company and attention. Though the male's comments were a tad less than suave. Are you implying that yours finds mine attractive? She asked, more than a little surprised at the notion. It was entirely the opposite reaction that most people tended to have toward Hers. Most were usually weirded out and vacated the area in short order.
Toyi glanced at her own dragon kit not too far away down the beach, where she'd just been slathering some of that oil on her own skin. Apparently she wasn't the only one that had had the same idea for the day, not that that was really surprising. With the same weather Weyr-wide and so very many dragonriders all dwelling within it ... more than a few would come to the same conclusion if they weren't napping the heat off.
"Are you going to picnic before or after your dragon-bath?" Toyi asked out of curiosity ... and since the bronze was already out in the water a bit deeper than lent well to bathing and oiling by a human.

Yes, he finds yours very attractive. He just isn't any good at making what he calls sweet talk. Please tell yours that he didn't mean to hurt her feelings, she caught him off guard and now he is unsure what to say or do now. Achilleth passed on as he nuzzled Alyrath's neck. He found this green very pretty too. Dummy, now you've done it. Make up quick. I like her Achilleth snorted at his rider. A'miri wasn't sure what he did or didn't do. Maybe it was what he said, or even what he didn't say. What ever it was, Achilleth was telling him he had made a mistake. He Smiled at Toyi and shrugged. "I'm sorry. you caught me off guard. I'm not used to women liking to banter with me. Achilleth calls me socially challanged, and says I have upset you. I didn't mean to do that Toyi. And to answer your question, yes, I would like to eat first and I have brought plenty for the both of us including wine." A'miri tried to sound as apologetic as he really was. He really could be a asshole sometimes. He put the basket down and opened it up. Pulling a blanket out he moved toward a bit of shade some of the taller grasses were offering before he spread it out. He came back for the basket then faced Toyi and put a real smile on his face. When he did that it surprised people, he was pretty handsome when he let his guard down long enough to let emotion of any kind show. "That is if you want to join me. I really wish you would. After we eat and enjoy some wine, maybe then I'd be up to exploring the idea of fathering your children." He teased back as he stretched his hand out for hers.

Alyrath considered what Achilleth had to say, but didn't follow his request. Mostly because it was a moot point when the Bronze's rider pretty much said the same thing for himself. But she did find the topic quite interesting... Achilleth's not only found Hers attractive, he found Hers attractive enough to leave him completely tongue tied and flustered. That ... that was unheard of! Ruminating on these concepts, she reached up and snuffled her snout along the underside of the much larger dragon's neck.
For her part, Toyi was shocked at what A'miri had to say, and for a moment was not entirely sure she'd understood him correctly. Socially challenged? A Bronzerider? Upset? Her? Or even that he was even slightly concerned that he'd upset her! She couldn't help but wear a shocked expression for a split second before it vanished away into nothingness. "I'm not upset." She stated plainly. "What makes him think I'm upset? Besides ... everyone is socially challenged, and I am least of the many to be making such judgments." She pointed out. If anyone in the place was socially challenged, it was her! For reasons she usually couldn't quite discern, she almost always managed to make people dislike her. So much so that she considered it normal and not much to get concerned over.
She watched with some interest as he unloaded a blanket and the goodies of his basket, talking all the while of food and wine, and dining. A smirk crossed her face as she waded out of the water toward where he was working. "Food and wine. A blanket. If I wasn't already standing here in my underthings, I'd think you were trying to get me out of my clothes." She teased good-naturedly even as she eyed what delectables he had chosen to bring. Sometimes these simple things of what people chose to eat could say so much about them. She looked up just in time to see him smile and she automatically smiled back in response.
It was always good to meet happy people. Toyi certainly never realized that he rarely smiled and that it was special for that reason. But it was special simply in that it was pointed her way, regardless of who was creating it. His comment about fathering her children had her laughing in pure amusement. She never once thought he was even remotely serious ... shards, she'd never even been kissed outside of flightlust. Toyi certainly wasn't sure what he intended when he extended a hand to her, given she was already standing right there. But going with it, she accepted his hand and waited to see what he'd do next. This was wholly new on her and she was curious to see what happened next, before the inevitable aversion reared its ugly head.

A'miri watched as the thoughts the soaking wet girl before him played across her face. He wasn't one to push himself onto another when it wasn't wanted or needed. Oh the flight lust was something all together different, but on a normal day to day he kept to himself. He wasn't going to be lusty today either, even though the wet clothes hid nothing from his view. He made a big production of escorting Toyi to a spot on the blanket, bowing as he indicated this was her spot. Then he went around to the other side strutting like a silly bird that was showing off for a potential mate, before he sat down laughing. "Trust me Toyi. I don't think you could be showing off much more of your self if you had taken your underthings off, you are pretty wet." He answered her with a wink and a grin. He poured them each a goblet of wine then held his up for a toast. "To warm days, happy dragons, and making friends." He said as he waited for her to clink her cup against his. He was having fun now that the initial shock had faded. He wasn't used to anyone flirting with him. Most people concidered him a ass and kept a distance. His wing was the most socializing he did except for the occasional flight Achilleth decided to stretch his wings on. His wing might think he was an ass, but they knew he was dependable and honest. Shaking such thoughts out of his head, he got up and stripped off his riding gear, leaving him down to a close fitting pair of short pants, once he was comfortable he stretched out on his left side facing Toyi. "That's the first time I have ever stripped while a girl watched." He said turning bright red. "There is a difference for flight lust." He added taking a huge sip of his wine, feeling it warm up his insides and helping him relax some more. A'miri never had a girlfriend or boy friend either. He prefered women, but being a dragonrider had him in a situation sometimes where the flight winner was a male. He didn't know the rules with women, he didn't know how to play games with them, he didn't like games played on him either. He didn't want Toyi to get mad and leave because he was such a inexperienced boozo. Sighing, he took another sip of wine, then sat up getting plates and eating hardware for them before opening up a couple of the food containers. He offered Toyi some fruit before choosing a few pieces for himself. Still red, he settled down to see what happened next. He looked up to see Alyrath nuzzle Achilleth. The big bronze was relaxing but alert. Good you are relaxing my friend. A'miri reached for the bronze. You need to relax yourself. What is wrong, you feel funny Achilleth asked, turning his head to look at his a moment. I am fine. A'miri answered as he took another sip. You are not fine, and I find this interesting. Achilleth answered with a sound of amusement. Achilleth found his riders mussings interesting, but didn't share them with Alyrath, he just watched and kept a close lookout around them just in case something happened. He did however share his riders feelings with the pretty green. My rider never has had what he calls a girlfriend, so he is unsure of himself. Not many like him, he stays to himself except during a flight. Achilleth crouched down in the water until all but his head was submerged. It felt good letting the warm water of the cove cool him off a bit. Soon he would find a place on the beach to sun. But for now he was enjoying Alyrath's company. Feeling silly himself, he totally went under and swapped directions. His head surfaced quietly just behind the pretty green. Silently he grabbed her swishing tail and yanked. Being in the water made her much more easy to dunk. With a dragons bellowing laugh, he launched himself straight up then dove back into the water more graceful then one would think for such a large dragon. He waited to see how Alyrath responded. TAG! You're IT!

Toyi couldn't help but giggle as A'miri made a big production of escorting her the few steps to the blanket and setting her down. Flicking a wet lock of hair over her shoulder, she made a big show of sitting down, playing along with his little show even as he strutted his way back around the blanket. Grinning like a fool, Toyi watched as the Bronzerider sat himself down as well. She was about to ask if all Bronzeriders could fluff their feathers like that, but got distracted by watching his comment about her clothes. Which caused a massive blush to rise on her skin and color her cheeks. "That tends to happen when a body jumps in water, yes." she agreed with a tiny grin of her own, a bit more self-conscious now. She accepted the goblet of wine and lifted it up with his. "To warm days, happy dragons, and friends." Toyi agreed, tapping the rim ever so lightly against the other goblet.
The sip she took was tiny though, merely tasting the wine rather than sucking it down. Resting it snuggly in her other hand, she settled her forearms against her thighs. Toyi took a moment to glance out at Alyrath before looking back at A'miri again. She was quite shocked to realize he was taking all his clothes off ... well .. eventually it became apparent his britches were going to stay ... snug as they were. But that was still the very first time anyone had randomly stripped in front of her like that. "Liking the wine are we?" She chuckled, getting over the shock as she accepted a redfruit from him. Turning it over she bit a sizable chunk out of it and winked at him.
Alyrath ruminated on what Achillith betrayed for a moment, and for it didn't pay much attention to what he was doing in the water. It had seemed innocent enough. As it was she flailed in the water and squawked rather garishly before the water closed over her. Spluttering back to the surface, Alyrath spat out a snoutfull of water and dove back under again. Fool! she shot back, though there wasn't anything but amusement in the tone.
In the shallows, the Bronze was at a disadvantage. The much smaller green had far more maneuvering room... that and just like in the air, the green was far more quick and agile in the water. Swimming was a lot like flying after all. A few quick kicks and snaps of her lithe wings, and Alyrath was shooting through the water under the surface. Exploding from the water, she plopped onto the Bronze's head and tried to shove it down with her belly, legs churning the water as her wings beat for balance. Concequently water was going everywhere in a very spectacular fashion. GOT YOU!

When Alyrath exploded from the water in the attempt to dunk his head under, Achilleth pulled a quick move of his own. He kicked his feet out from under himself at the same time he gave a mighty shove with his head and neck. The resulting effect sent the pretty green much higher in the air then was expected and she landed behind him instead of on him. Gathering himself, Achilleth gave a mighty heave with his hind legs sending him skyward a bit before coming back down a bit deeper in the water. This back flop of sorts caused a huge wave of water inland toward the pair on the blanket.
A'miri looked up as the pair of dragons sent water spraying everywhere. It was good to see Achilleth relaxing and being playful for a change. Life for a big bronze wasn't all fun, and Achilleth took his responcibilities very seriously. Looking toward Toyi, he smiled at her discomfort in his teasing, she could give as good as she could take. He liked that.
"I always enjoy a good glass of wine. And it really is too warm to keep wearing those heavy leathers out here on the beach. I plan on getting wet here soon too, and I wouldn't relish getting my leathers wet and having to wear them back that way." He answered with a sheepish grin. "If my pants are bothering you, I could just take them totally off." he added with a rougish grin as he wiggled his eyebrows.
Taking another sip of his wine, he stretched his long legs out in front of him then laid down on his side with his hand supporting his head. He was facing this interesting girl Toyi. He was glad for the opportunity to relax himself. He wondered who was special to this woman in front of him, and if he would have a chance to interest her further in him. He was getting tired of being alone. Achilleth flew the queens like all the male dragons did honoring them with their presence hoping to capture one. And he rarely flew the greens. And only when the big brute thought his rider needed him too.
A'miri didn't know what would happen if the silly bronze actually caught a gold. A'miri might just faint with surprise. This last thought brought a snorted response from the big bronze as he dove under once more to give chase to his playmate. "I hope you don't think that I came here to join you for a romp in the sand. I actually would like to get to know you a bit. I guess I'm a bit different then most male riders. Just because you ride a green doesn't mean I think you would want to have someone jump your bones all the time." He stammered to a halt, this time it was his turn to turn bright red. Dang he wished he wasn't so tongue tied with a girl he would like to get to know better. "I'm sorry." he added shaking his head. "I just can't seem to quit sticking my foot in my mouth. Would you like a meat roll?" he asked as he held the plate up for Toyi to take one if she wanted. He could be such a wherry ass sometimes. He just couldn't seem to say what he felt. And he didn't want to seem that he was only there for sex.

Toyi laughed aloud, though for a moment it didn't quite sound like a laugh. Or any kind of noise a girl should make, really. But it settled obviously into what it was after the first few horrible sounds. For a moment she was tempted to tell him that his shorts did offend her, just to see if he'd really take them off so willy nilly. Given the situation however ... being not only a dragonrider but a Bronzer at that (what with them being all pride and macho), she suspected that he really would. And then where would she be in what kind of pickle? Awkward at best! "No, your pants aren't bothering me quite that much, thanks though!" She took another bite out of the redfruit and chewed thoughtfully. "It is a rather warm day, isn't it? I wouldn't want to wear leather anything, myself. I admit I came out here dressed just like this ... though not wet at the time."
Her expression fell flat as he went off on his tangent about jumping people's bones, but by the time he finished she was smirking. "Sticking your foot in your mouth is right." She agreed cheerfully before gesturing at him with her glass of wine. "Have some more wine, it usually helps to dull the embarrassment of such activities." All in teasing good fun, but it was true, too. At least for her... and she was no stranger to the whole getting her ankle caught on her larynx problem. Stuffing the remains of the redfruit into her teeth, she grunted approval and accepted a meatroll off the plate he offered.
Setting it down on her thigh, she popped the redfruit off of the impromptu bite. "You know how to pack a picnic, donchu?" She marbled around the mouthful of fruit.
Greens weren't renouned for being agile for nothing. Though dealing with water was a tad different than dealing with air, Aonith still managed to flail her way through a turn mid-splash as she crashed down into the lake's surface on far more water than she had been anticipating. Kicking hard with all four legs even as both wings pummeled the surface, she leapt back into the air in a whole new direction, right over his self created tidal wave as she chased after the elusive bronze. A mock-roar escaped her throat as she kersplashed back down again, grappling his tail halfway up and pretending to chew on his haunches. All the while her wings were beating for balance and creating quite a chaotic spray of continuous water all around her. You'll not get away that easily!!!
