What would you like to be called OOC? hbk
Character Info:
Name: K'vett
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Rank: Assistant Weyrlingmaster
Family:
Kezavet :: Father :: Captain of the Weyr Guard :: age; 48
Meela :: Mother :: Lower caverns Worker :: age; 46
J'dae :: Brother :: Brownrider :: age; 30
Appearance:
K'vett is someone that most people would deem attractive. His face is a soft oval with cheekbones that flare into a square jawline. Blessed with a clear complextion, the bluerider's face is usually shadowed by a minimal amount of stubble that keeps him from having too much of a babyface.
Eyes are the window to the soul, and it couldn't be any more true of K'vett whose piercing, bright blue eyes always give away his feelings. Because he's quite aware that he has a hard time hiding his feelings, K'vett often has a hard time maintaining eye contact while talking with others.
Like any many riders, K'vett keeps his hair cropped short, and usually only has to run his fingers through the short tresses before he heads out. Dark brown locks are fringed with natural highlights from the sun and contrast to his bronze, burnished skin.
Average in height, 5'10", K'vett's body is compactly built and corded with muscles that has been honed and maintained from six Turns of dragonriding, and before that, a few Turns of smithing. Naturally wide shoulders lead down to a narrow waistline and lean, muscled legs.
Personality:
K'vett is an extremely ambitious individual. Because of his upbringing as a child of a lower caverns worker, K'vett knew that he never wanted to be on the bottom rung of the Weyr caste system. With that in mind, K'vett always strives to achieve another level of rank, prestige, or success. Because of this desire, K'vett's friends would call him a motivated individual. Never one to sleep in late or be found lazying around, K'vett keeps himself busy and can always find something else to do.
Loyalty was something that K'vett learned from his father Kezavet, who later in life was promoted to Captain of the Weyr Guard because of his physical prowess and experience. Once K'vett has established a friendship or bond the bluerider is extremely loyal and would arrive at a moments notice to aid someone in need.
K'vett is far from perfect, however. His motivation and ambition also gives him an air of arrogance. Because the bluerider keeps himself busy and works hard he expects the same as others and often judges people he deems "lazy". Hi ambition also makes him something of a rebel when it comes to direct commands from those in authority. K'vett will do as his Wingleader or Weyrleader says, but that doesn't mean it won't be done with some grumbling if K'vett doesn't agree with the command.
While K'vett is loyal to his friendships, he's often been described as "flighty" when it comes to establishing a romantic relationship. K'vett has a hard time maintaining interest in one person for too long.
Hobbies/Skills: K'ven still enjoys getting in the forge and creating things when he has spare time.
History:
Being born to a lower caverns worker and a guard, K'vett earned an inside view of what it was like to be in a family that believed in hard work. From sun up to sun down his parents were usually gone, busy with work while he and his brother ran around and played with the other weyrbrats. Since J'dae was four Turns his senior, K'vett often looked up to his older brother and wanted to emulate him in any way possible. So, when K'vett turned fourteen he apprenticed to the smithcraft and joined his brother in the forge where they could create essentials, such as knives and blades.
At sixteen K'vett had his first girlfriend, mostly because is brother set them up. The girl was nice, but K'vett never really understood what was so special about having a girlfriend. To him she was just someone to keep him company and be around when he wasn't at the forge. It was through this relationship that K'vett realized that he had far more interest in the men at the Weyr then he did in women.
It was the first time in K'vett's life that he could remember disagreeing with J'dae's opinion. So, it wasn't surprising to K'vett when his brother Impressed to a brown dragon. There definitely wasn't a gay bone in his brother's body, K'vett would often joke. Still being influenced by his love of J'dae, K'vett began Standing when he was eighteen (then known as Kayvett). Only, K'vett did so away from his family. Ready for his first taste of independent living, the smithcrafter transferred to Refuge as a Candidate and smithcrafter. It only took two Turns for him to find his lifemate in the beautiful midnight blue dragon Kavanth.
Weyrlinghood was an enjoyable time for K'vett as it was there that he was able to work hard and put his ambition to use. The blue Weyrling was determined to show his Weyrlingmaster why he should graduate near the top of his class. It was also in his Weyrling class that K'vett met some of the friends that would last him into adulthood.
At twenty four K'vett accepted the position of Assistant Weyrlingmaster. In the bluerider's opinion it was another step up the social ladder of the Weyr and he enjoyed the feeling that he was actually contributing directly to the growth and direction of the Weyr. Not only that, but because K'vett enjoyed Weyrlinghood so much himself, he felt it almost his duty to return the favor by helping other youngsters through what could be the greatest time of their life.
Dragon Info
Name: Kavanth
Color: Blue
Age: 7
Description: Kavanth is a large blue dragon, nearly the size of a small brown. His hide is a dark blue that is easily seen from anywhere. K'vett often jokes that he has to shade his eyes in order to even look at his dragon. Kavanth merely replies that his midnight color is more appealing to the beautiful greens dragons in the Weyr. There is only one Threadscore on his hide from his first 'Fall and it runs jaggedly down his back left flank.
Personality: Kavanth considers himself quite the "ladies dragon" and is constantly entertaining a green dragon on his ledge. If not on his ledge, then he's sunning with greens around the Weyr. Unlike some dragons, Kavanth is extremely social and loves to participate in the exchange of gossip. Because of his social nature, K'vett sometimes has to reign Kavanth in and remind him that there is more important things to worry about than who is sunning with whom.
When Kavanth is concentrating on something besides green dragons, the blue is surprisingly intelligent and he enjoys conversing with K'vett on Thread ideas and knew things that they can try within reason when they are up in the air. His favorite pasttime, other than greens of course, is flying. Even when K'vett cannot join him Kavanth enjoys soaring around the Weyr stretching his wings.
History: Kavanth knew exactly who he wanted the moment he split from his shell. The blue made a straight line to K'vett and his first thought was of food, sun, and then sleep. In that order. Like K'vett, Kavanth enjoyed Weyrlinghood and found the rigors of every day training to be worthy exercises.
The first time the pair flew Threadfall they were scored, nothing traumatic, just enough to leave a light score down Kavanth's back, left flank. It was great lesson to the pair and ever since they've been far more careful in 'Fall.
Now, as an adult dragon, Kavanth's main interest is in green dragons and he flies in as many flights as he has energy for- which is a lot.
