Escaping the Flight {Suynie, Any}

Electing to stay clear of the Gold flight was a good idea, this time. K'dan and Osirith waited until the participants were far above the Weyr before dropping off the ledge and heading for the entrance to the kitchens. Making quick work out of getting enough picnic supplies, wine and goodies to last him all day if needed. He made sure they were wrapped tight against the rain.

Back out with his dragon, K'dan made quick work of getting things packed up into the boxes that he usually used to hold firestone. Making sure things were secure and packed tightly. K'dan mounted his egyptian blue and secured himself with his straps.

Osirith, where are they at now, are we clear to take off and stay low out of the way for a bit before we can fly right? He asked as he patted the blues shoulder.

Yes MyKdan, we can go now, they are way up and still climbing. We can follow the beach low if you wish, we should be able to stay out of the way. If they head our way, I can land quickly and stay out of it.[/i][/color] Osarith replied as he turned his head from the skies back to his rider.

Lets go then shall we? I'm getting hungry anyway. I sure hope its not raining as hard futher down the beach. Lets keep an eye out for any smoke from fires that might be out of place. It would be a good day for the holdless to build one. K'dan replied, then got him self ready for the jerk that comes by launching off the ground.

Once they were airborne, they skirted around the crowd of people that were watching the flight and headed away from the Weyr. Despite the rain, K'dan enjoyed their flight. He used their time in the air to check for fires from any holdless camp they might stumble upon.

So far so good, they didn't find any. I know of a beach somewhere else if you are game ole boy?[/i] He suggested by showing his blue where he wanted to go. Osirith's answer was a nod of agreement, then between.

MyKdan, I see some one down on the beach over there. Its Rhinnoth and her rider. Shall we land? I don't like them being alone so far from the Weyr.[/i][/color] Osirith pointed with his nose as he slowly started to land.

"Yes lets do, I agree with you, I don't like it either. Maybe she could use some of this food we brought. This is as good as any place to be. Please be kind enough to announce us." K'dan added.

Beautiful Rhinnoth, it is I Osirith and my rider. We are also getting away from the flight, may we join you? Mine has brought food and wine if yours would like some. We do not wish to intrude, but we don't wish to see you alone either.[/b][/i] Osirith added on his own, the latter part being said where his rider couldn't hear it. He just wanted to let the Gold know they were thinking about their well fare, and not intruding.

Rhiannoth had felt Osirith's presence along the shoreline long before the blue spoke, but she welcomed the sight him as he winged in. Rhiannoth found blue dragons incredibly intriguing and enjoyed talking with them so Osirith's company perked the gold up.

Once Osirith had voiced his request, Rhiannoth turned her attention to her rider, Blue Osirith and his rider would like to join us. They too are taking refuge from the flight. Would their company be pleasing to you?

Suynie looked up as Rhiannoth spoke, luckily, it had stopped raining where they were on the beach and the sand was beginning to dry up. The large golden queen had her wings tucked daintily along her back, and Suynie rested against her side with her legs stretched out in front of her.

Of course they are welcome. Suynie for one saw no difference between the colors of dragons at Refuge. Each color held their own importance to the function and growth of the Weyr, to deny that was suicide and ignorance.

We would love to have your company, Osirith, please join us. Rhiannoth answered the blue in a soft croon before telling her rider, They were also worried about us being out from the Weyr alone.

That tidbit of information made Suynie smile, How sweet. It always touched Suynie to learn that there were people in the Weyr looking after her well being because they worried about her. In her opinion, it should be the other way around. As a goldrider, Suynie had a certain duty and responsibility to the Weyr, and their safety and well being were on the forefront of her mind. Rhiannoth as well had that motherly instinct, that was the pedigree of a true queen, to look after the other dragons of the Weyr. It angered her to see them hurt, or upset.

Rhiannoth and HERS welcome us MyKadan. Shall I land off to the right of them? Osirith purred as he banked around one more time just to show off.

Show off! K'dan replied chuckling at the blue. He had to admitt the hide oh his partner was stunning when the light hit him just right. He didn't make any further comment. He just got settled for their landing. Osirrith pulled off one of the most perfect landings K'dan had ever seen. He came in steeply pulling up at the last possible moment.. it made his hind feet settle in the sand with a thump but there was no back winging and no sand stinging the pair that was resting on the beach.

"Hello Suynie, my duty to you and your beautiful Rhiannoth." He greeted the pair bowing deeply from where he sat. "Thank you for allowing us to join you. Are you hungry? We brought a small feast and some wine. I didn't know how long we were going to stay away from the Weyr today so I came prepared." He added as he climbed off his squatting blue.

He unloaded the boxes that were strapped on to Osirith's riding strapes then took the straps off the blue so he could enjoy himself too. The blue greeted his golden friend with a warble of pleasure before settling himself in the sand where K'dan could use him for a backrest too.

K'dan busied himself with setting out the blanket and unloading the boxes. "We have stew, roast wherry, bubble pies, rolls and ummm yes here we are, red fruit, meat rolls, tubers, Klah and wine. The drudges did me up proud it seems. He handed her a plate and eating utencils before settling himself on the sand.

"Which would you prefere, wine or Klah to start with?" He asked her with a huge smile. It never occurred to him that he should be stoggy or stiff with the gold rider. She was after all just a young woman who happened to be a dragon rider. Just because hers was a gold didn't make any difference in her as a person.

Today, they were just two dragon riders enjoying the day, tomorrow it might be different if it was this pairs turn to rise. But for now he planned to relax and enjoy his friends company.

Rhiannoth took note of the blue's swift landing, she was always amazed at the agility and speed of the smaller dragons. Being as monstrous as she was, Rhiannoth could only imagine what it would be like to whip around in the air. What a beautiful landing, Osirith. The gold complimented him.

When the bluerider began bringing things out of the basket, the goldrider's eyes widened and she laughed, "Wow, you really meant it when you said it was going to be a feast! The lower caverns must have thought it was going to be quite a party out here on the beach."

Suynie, for one, liked it when people treated her like everyone else. Being held up on a pedestal could get tiresome and lonely. The bluerider's casual manner allowed Suynie to relax and feel more like herself as she gave a nod to the wine K'dan had produced, "Some wine would be nice."

While she waited for her drink, Suynie once again considered how much better it was being away from the Weyr now that she had company, "Thanks again for seeking us out, K'dan, I wasn't thinking at all when I left and if you and Osirith hadn't shown up I would have been starving."

Thank you Rhiannoth. I did not wish to send sand flying on you and your rider.[/b] Osirith bowed his head slightly his eyes slowly whirling a contented blue. He was happy that today they could just be themselves. He shifted his weight enough he was close, but not crowding the beautiful young Queen. Days like today were rare and he intended to enjoy it.

K'dan carefully poured Suynie a glass of wine, he didn't want it to tip over so he only half filled their glasses. "Here you go." He said handing her the glass. then he took his own and held it up for a toast. "Here's to good friends and great food!"

Settling himself more comfortably, he waited for the goldrider to make the first move on the food before he started, but his stomach gave him away. Laughing he placed his hand over the offending area. "Shall we eat, it seems that part of me is hungrier then I thought it was. I didn't follow you Suynie, we wanted to get away from the flight too. I like this peaceful place, its beautiful here. When I asked the drudges to pack up something that would hold me all day just in case, they did them selves proud." He spoke truthfully looking her straight in the eyes. "I am, no We are glad you both are here." He added.

Reaching down, he snagged the plate with the meatrolls, and offered for her to take one. His demanding stomach was getting out of hand and before he could make more a fool of himself, he decided they better eat something. K'dan was glad to see the young rider relax. He couldn't imagine the pressure she was under. In a small way, he was glad that the older gold from the past rose first. Maybe some of the pressure would ease on his friend, for now anyway. Rhiannoth will rise soon, her color was starting to glow. It wouldn't be long.
