While they had been allowed to keep their eggs the Brat Pack had not been allowed to go unpunished, pulled into insane amount of chores in the sevendays that followed after their successful firelizard egg heist. It’d been grueling, yes, but even that couldn’t fully wipe the smirk of victory and excitement from any of their faces. Orlai’s remaining eggs had just recently hatched as well, adding to the excitement the holders of flitter eggs among the group were already dealing with. It was with this in mind they had been meeting more and more the past evenings after chores, each fetching their eggs and always having food on hand once work was over. Any time now, they were sure of it, any time now they would hatch. Tonight was no exception, both boys dashing to D’seus’ weyr to retrieve the Starry Night Egg (as well as Shrieker) before going down into the Hatching Sands Cavern. It seemed a fitting place to meet up, Thoran holding in his arms the small pot filled with warm sands and an almost half buried egg inside of it as the duo reached their scheduled meeting area first. Hinuk’s green was currently perched on his left shoulder, her right wing held in place through some splint a healer had created for the little hatchling, as well as wrapped to avoid infection. Her eyes forever whirled with faint hints of red among them, the snake-like creature’s tail faintly wrapped around Hinuk’s neck. Thankfully enough she was quiet enough, a rare occurrence, the rather large meatroll the blond had provided her actually keeping the thread-forsaken beast busy. Bandaged fingers, from the multiple nips and bites Shrieker constantly delivered to them, were already something the leader of the Brat Pack was getting used to – though he was conscious he needed to find a way to make her stop soon. He didn’t quite fancy forever having his hands injured thanks to this little brat of a flit. ”You think they’ll hatch soon, Hinuk?” “Hmm, probably? I mean Orlai’s other eggs hatched already; and Shrieker hatched just fine that night anyways.”At the mention of said night the flitter on the blonde’s shoulder gave a faint hissing sound before resuming her feasting, Hinuk scratching the back of his head in mild exasperation. Thoran himself couldn’t help but chuckle slightly, holding the vase that held his Starry Night Egg closer to himself, a small sack filled with meatrolls slung across his right shoulder. They settled not far from the original area that had held Orlai’s eggs at one point, both boys thankful that the sands weren’t as scorching hot as they usually were when Gold dragons clutched.

The day never seemed to end. Her parents had been less than thrilled to hear about her latest prank. She was prepared for the lectures about being responsible and growing up. What she had not been prepared for was the amount of punishment she would have to endure. Not only had her mother signed her up to work mornings in the kitchens but she had to go do laundry after lessons with the Weyr Harper with the other kids. Meanwhile she had been unable to spend copious amounts of time with the egg Fiddle had pilfered for her. Somehow even though her parents had been keeping her insanely busy and even when they were not they were watching her, it seemed she was still able to sneak out when she really wanted to. Her arms cradled the egg in the warm blanket she had stolen earlier that day. It wasn’t that she approved of thievery but the Weyr was more of a whats yours is ours and vice versa kind of place. Holding the egg close to her body one would think Seirsha was cradling a baby. It might as well have been the way she worried over it. She looked down at the egg in her possession and wondered not for the first time what the firelizard inside would be like. It took her longer than usual to reach the Hatching Sands as she was being careful not to hurt the firelizard egg. It was like she was walking on egg shells all the way to the Sands. Unlike the rest of them Seirsha had been unable to meet at the Sands before tonight. She had been followed by her snitch of a brother and had turned back before exposing the whole pack. Tonight was different, tonight she had been able to distract the boy and sneak out unnoticed and not followed. She hoped this would be the start of reasserting her freedom from her parents and her siblings. Seirsha did not like snitches which was why no one else in her family could be trusted with something as great as the Brat Pack. They were the worst tattle tells she had ever known. Might as well scream to the Weyr what she was up to when they were around. When she finally arrived at the Sands, she drew in a sigh of relief. She had made it! The flitter egg in her arms was placed gently on the Sands next to Thoran’s. “Hey.” She said to both boys in greeting as she settled her pack on the ground. Her food for the flitter inside the egg was in her pack. Eyeing Hinuk’s green cautiously, she opened the pack and held out a piece of meatroll flat on her hand. “Have you noticed any changes to your egg?” She asked Thoran while focusing her attention on the firelizard. So far, she had not noticed any in her own egg. Time would tell if the Hatching Sands would help the other flitters hatch. “Although I suppose we could drop them and make them hatch like Arrow did.” She laughed. And he had been worried about Flitter and Mirage dropping their eggs.

Megdela made her way over to the others very carefully carrying her pot with the Dragon Fly Egg nestled securely inside. She never had any trouble sneaking away from her family. Her mother was usually pretty tired and then had to deal with the younger siblings. Her pockets were full of goodies from the kitchen where she had been helping out most of the day. She actually didn't mind the working she missed seeing the others more often but then soon they would all be free again to hang out more. Her braids fluttered by her head as she hurried to the others. She wanted to know if anyone's egg had hatched yet. "Did anyones hatch yet?" she inquired softly of the others. She was starting to worried a bit the others from the nest already hatched and she wondered if taking them out of it early harmed them in some way or just delayed their hatching date. The seemed to be hard enough to handle when the stole them so she didn't think anything could of accidentally happened to them. "I don't think dropping them are a good idea Arrows little girl is not a very happy that it happened to her. and the poor dear got hurt too."

Gibbon’s family had been less then pleased to learn that he had played a part in the chaos that had taken place in the hatching sands and with the heardbeasts. They had been even less pleased when the young boy made the mistake of saying that stampede had been his idea. They had let him keep his egg though, mostly because he had hidden it and refused to tell them where it was until they agreed he could keep it when it hatched.
Tonight the young mischief maker wandered down to the sands slowly and carefully. Hinuk might have gotten his flitter early by dropping it but Gibbon didn’t want a fire lizard like his. That thing was meaaaan. Plus he was certain that he had seen his moving earlier in the day. They had to be close to hatching!
He walked out onto the sands to meet up with the others, putting his egg down with theirs. He took a step back before to look at their small pile of eggs before he knelt back down and fiddled around with his, wanting to make it look juuuust perfect. “I don’t wanna drop my egg. I want a happy flitter. Not one that’s going to try and eat me in my sleep.” Gibbon thought of telling Hinuk that he was lucky he hadn’t gotten a bigger flitter like a bronze but even he knew that that would be a bad idea.
“They’ve gotta hatch tonight right? I mean it’s been a few days since the rest of them have hatched. You don’t think we got all the duds in the clutch do you?” Gibbon chewed on his thumb nail a bit as he worried about that. “I don’t want anything bad to have happened to my flitter!”

As soon as the Pack had all made it to the sands with their eggs they started their wait. Sometimes they chatted a bit but most of the time a hushed silence would fall over them when one of the Brats claimed to see an egg shake. Most of them were false alarms as they were every night. After a few hours with no change, Hinuk was about to send the Brats home when the Dragonfly Egg shuddered and fell over. Six pairs of eyes watched as the first cracks started to form on the blue shell. It seemed to be a sign for the other eggs as well. For better or worse, none of the Brat Pack eggs were duds and all were racing to see who could hatch first.
While the Dragonfly Egg was the first to start cracking, it was the Coin Egg that shattered open first. The pale green flitter shook the shell shards off and cheeped happily as she looked up at everyone who was admiring her. So many people and so much food! She chattered away as she looked everything over and the Brat Pack knew there was only one person who would be able to stand a flitter as chatty as he was. Finally, the Coin flitter snagged the meat that Gibbon was holding out for her, cooing happily as she continued to make noise.
Name: Bonded To: Gibbon Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Coins
Description: The Coin flitter is a shade of pale green with a sunny yellow under tones on her belly and the bottom of her wings. A few yellow spots dot her hide here and there as well.
The coin flitter is a smaller sized green, with wings and tail that are larger then her body size would normally have. Her larger wings give her more strength so she can carry heavier things when flying.
Personality: This little green is a collector. She loves keeping things, especially if they have a bit of a shine to them. The people and flitters that she likes the most will often receive little gifts from her, pebbles and trinkets that she's found and that she wants to share.
With the first of their five eggs hatched, the Brats all turned their eyes back to the eggs to see how they were coming along. The Dragonfly Egg had broken open but the flitter was nowhere to be seen at first. Instead of just sitting around and waiting, the slinky blue had wandered off. Megdela would suddenly feel something in her pockets and looking down would find a looooong blue tail hanging out while the rest of the flitter was pigging out on the food she had taken from the kitchens.
Name: Bonded To: Megdela Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Dragonfly
Description: The Dragonfly flitter is darker shade of navy blue. Most of his coloring is one even shade but the tops of his wings are lined with lighter, almost shiney shade of blue that resembles translucent dragonfly wings.
The blue is all tail. His tail is about twice as long as his body is. Even when he grows he’ll still have a much longer tail then most fire lizards. His body is fairly small and skinny, making it hard to tell just where his tail actually begins.
Personality: The blue loves to go exploring and adventuring. He just wants the chance to see every little thing that he can and show it all to Megdela. His small size lets him get into tiny places and find new things. Since he wants to see everything, he doesn't go Between as often as other flitters but has an incredible amount of stamina because of that.
The Black Cat Egg shuddered and broken open, spilling out a dark colored flitter. It got up, stretched out his wings and smacked the Starry Night Egg. Taking a surprised hop back, the Black Cat flitter trilled at the egg, probably apologizing to the flitter with in. The Starry Night flitter was clearly displeased though as the egg thumped before falling over, the flitter inside making short work of the egg that trapped him. A bronze struggled out of the egg, shaking shell off his gleaming hide and letting out an angry hiss at his clumsy brown brother. The Black Cat flitter quickly scrambled away from the bronze and raced up into Seirsha’s lap, taking shelter there.
Name: Bonded To: Seirsha Color: Brown Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Black Cat
Description: A dark, dark brown, the Black Cat flitter can almost pass for black. And when his hide is wet it’s hard to tell that he’s not black. His black head ridges and claws are the only things that show he’s not a truly black flitter.
This brown is not as graceful as the felines his egg was named after. In fact he’s rather clumsy. His body is all perfectly sized for a brown and yet he flies like a gangly teenager and never seems to know where his limbs are.
Personality: While the brown is a friendly and sweet guy compared to the rest of his bad luck siblings, people tend to avoid him. If anyone spares him a glance, he’ll often want to try and follow them and show them some love. Of course his clumsy ways mean that things tend to end badly for him. His own limbs will get tangled up and he’ll run into someone. Or he’ll try to land on a ledge and fall off. The kitchen workers will hate him as more then once he’ll end up right in the middle of the dish they’re working on.
The bronze strutted around a bit, chattering angrily before calming down. He wandered over to the last whole egg on the sands, leaning down next to it for a moment before walking over to Thoran and taking the food the dark skinned boy held out for him.
Name: Bonded To: Thoran Color: Bronze Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Starry Night
Description: The Starry Night flitter doesn't shine like most bronzes do, he glitters. His hide has a darker hue to it, making the lighter, shiney speckles on it stand out more. His hide still manages to bring to mind the night sky.
Personality: Compared to most bronzes, the Starry Night flitter is rather laid back. Most of the time he's calm and mellow, almost like he's just day dreaming and ignoring whats going on around him. Even when something makes him angry or gets him excited its short lived. He is by no means lazy though, eager to get out and do things to prove his worth. He's just a flitter that likes to think things through before acting.
Last but certainly not least was the Four Leaf Clover Egg. As soon as the bronze had settled in with Thoran, the small egg cracked open at once, the little green within dramatically spreading out her wings in a ‘look at me!’ fashion. Good things always come to those who wait, at least that’s what the green seemed to think. She went right to Karavel with no hesitation, quickly wolfing down the food that was waiting for her.
Name: Bonded To: Karavel Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Four Leaf Clover
Description: The Clover flitter is of course a deep clover green. And everything is done in fours on her. Four dots of black are under each eye, four darker spots of green run down her spine and tail, there are even four claws on each foot.
Personality: Small and cuddly, this green just loves affection. She always seems to be in a good mood, not even the crankiest of her bad luck siblings seem to be able to get to her. And when you have such a happy girl always perched on your shoulder, how can anyone else ever have a bad day?

The young brat watched and waited. Watched and waited. She found herself dozing off now and then as the pack waited for the flitters to hatch. How long was it going to take?! She thought to herself in annoyance. The more she stared at the egg in front of her the more she was certain nothing was going on inside of it. Man, this was the worst waste of time ever! The blonde looked at the other pack members and wondered if they were thinking the same thing. All that trouble for nothing but a bunch of duds. The only one that got a flitter was Hinuk. Her face began to draw into a pout. How unfair was that? She deserved a flit; she had worked hard for it. She made sure the egg was in a warm place the whole time she had it and no one in her family knew it was there.
Her frustration was becoming more and more apparent with each passing moment and she knew now, she was not alone. The others who were not known for their patience, were doing their best not to say any of what they might be thinking aloud. Taking a deep breath she took one of the meatrolls she had packed for the flitters out and began to nibble on it. She had plenty of food and heck, if there were not going to be any flitters there was no harm in eating one meatroll.
It was of course some time later, when she caught herself starting to doze off again when something caught the corner of her eye. It was not her egg. No, her egg decided to remain perfectly still. The egg that was Megdela’s began to shudder. Her egg was suddenly the center of attention until all the others started to shake as well. Then Seirsha’s gaze was drawn back to her own lovely egg. She paid little attention to the other flits, so focused she was on the cracking shell before her. The girl took meatrolls out of her pack quickly while trying to keep her eyes on the egg. It was going well to her mind.
When her poor brown finally stretched his wings ready to get some food, he accidentally hit Thoran’s egg. The Bronze that emerged was very rude to her poor flit, who came running to her as if he knew all along he belonged with her. She would protect him and keep him safe from that jerk of Thoran’s. Letting the brown sniff at the food in her hand she smiled. He began to eat as if he was starving to death. Meanwhile she petted him. His hide was nice and sleek. And he was all hers. She was officially the coolest girl in the Weyr. “I’ll call you…”

Megdela watched and watched and just when they were about to pack up her dragonfly egg started to move. She almost shouted but noticed that the others already saw and then the others started to move as well. She was excited and stared hard at her egg watching and waiting for the little flitter to make a appearance. She turned to watch as the coin egg cracked open first. it was a lovely green but when she turned back to her egg it was opened and the little flit was no were to be seen. She looked around quickly wondering if it wandered away somewhere in a panic which didn't last long as she felt something moving in her pocket and saw a long blue tail hanging out. She giggled and reached down and opened her pocket to see it inside chowing down. "Ohh he's a blue and he found his food all by himself ain't he a smart boy. " she said excitedly. She looked thoughtful as she though about a good name for her baby blue.
