The once large clutch that Orlai had laid was looking much smaller now. Six of the eggs had been snatched up by the Brat Pack. And just hours earlier Emera had removed two more of the eggs from the clutch. Orlai had been unhappy but a quick treat had cheered her up.
With only five eggs left on the sands, it was easier to get a look at them. The largest was the Broken Mirror Egg, it's shiny shell and size caught most peoples eye first. The Moth Egg was there as well, it's eye spots 'watching' those who came to see the clutch hatch. The Bunny Egg now seemed rather lonely sitting by itself. The Runner Shoe Egg and Cracks Egg sat next to each other, one looking so shiny and happy while the other continued to look dour.
Knowing that the eggs would be hatching today, Emera had stopped at the kitchens first and took a plate of meat rolls with her. The newly hatched flitters would be hungry after all. Plus food would keep Orlai busy and stop her from being too pushy. Tossing part of a roll to the gold fire lizard, Emera took a moment to look over the rest of the eggs, her fingers lightly brushing against a few of them before she stopped and took a few steps back. Between Orlai's sudden humming and the way the last egg had shuddered under her touch, Emera knew she had gotten there just in time.
As Orlai and the rest of the flitters in the Weyr started to hum and sing for the hatching, the Moth Egg shuddered again as cracks started to form on its brown shell.

M'nor was walking past the hatching sands eating a sandwhich when he saw the headwoman Emera walking somewhere quickly. He was curious as he continued to walk in the direction of the woman and stopped when he saw what looked like a nest of some sort. When he saw the gold fire lizard Orlai and counted five eggs it all made sense as to why Emera was moving so fast. The young man came to stop infront of the eggs as he noticed that a brown egg was starting to move. A fire lizard what a treat that would be was his only thought as he looked on. "Are you into sharing," asked M'nor as he didn't know if the headwoman wanted all the fire lizards?
He had never really thought about a pet because his brown dragon took a lot of his time yet figured now that he was settled this might be a good time for one. M'nor looked onward then remebered what he'd heard about fire lizards and how they had to be fed from birth. The wingsecond wouldn't mind bonding with one and was quiet for a moment as he watched the brown egg continue to move. "Such a small clutch," said M'nor as he figured there would have been more eggs just as there we're at least ten eggs in a clutch of dragon eggs.

All the ruckus that was going on sent A'miri into the hallway to see if he could help. He had just finished eating his fill but he didn't want to waste the extra meat rolls he had left. So he wrapped them up in a cloth to put in his pocket before heading for his room. He still had them in his hand when he saw the Headwoman Emera hurry toward the hatching sands with a plate. When the flits started humming he wondered if Orlai's clutch was hatching.
Wanting to watch he hurried after her. Upon entering the hatching sands he saw the eggs rocking, and M'nor was already there. "Hello Headwoman Emera, and to your flit, hey M'nor are you here for a egg?" A'miri greeted them all. "May I watch? And if they aren't already promiseed may I have one?" He asked excitedly as he watched the rocking eggs. He totally forgot he was holding his uneaten egg rolls. All his attention was on the headwoman, the gold flit Orlai and the few rocking eggs that were on the sands.

Emera glanced up as the brown and bronze rider walked onto the sands. She rolled her eyes a bit at M'nor's 'small clutch' comment. "You clearly haven't spoken to D'suse recently M'nor. Orlai laid a clutch of thirteen eggs before his son and the Brat Pack he runs took half the eggs. I gave another two away already. The rest are up for grabs. I don't need to have a whole pack of lizards flying around me. Orlai is bad enough at times."
Both men had food in hand so she waved them over to the nest as the first egg started to crack open slowly.
Almost as soon as M'nor and A'miri were there, the Cracks Egg fell apart. With its coloring, it had been impossible to tell that it had been breaking open long before anyone had shown up. The baby flitter pushed its way out, shaking broken shell off his back while clumsy flapping his wings to help dry them. It was a blue flitter that had the same crack marks covering its body that its egg. He shrank back from the two men hovering over him, letting out an angry little hiss at all the attention he was getting. Orlai cooed at her son and hopped a little closer, giving him a nudge. The Cracks flitter looked sullen for a moment longer before it took a careful hop towards M'nor, stretching his neck out to snag the hunk of sandwich that was being held out for him. After that first morsel of food, he was all over M'nor and the sandwich.
Name: Veint Bonded To: M’nor Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Cracks Egg
Description: The Cracks flitter is shade of periwinkle blue with cracks of dark blue crossing over his hide. His coloring is slightly odd looking as there’s no uniformed look to him and his coloring isn’t symmetrical in any way.
His sizing it normal for a blue, maybe a touch on the larger size but nothing that really makes him stand out when compared to other blues.
Personality: This fire lizard tends to be an anti-social and sour little guy. He likes his bonded well enough but he’s not the sort of flitter that’s going to fly around and get into everyone else’s business. In fact, he’d much rather just lay about and nap. Or perform his favorite trick of playing dead.
One green leg had pushed its way out of the Moth Egg but it was quickly forgotten as the larger Runner Shoe Egg cracked and shattered around the fire lizard within. A brown shook off the shell that clung to his wet hide and looked up. His long legs tangled him up a bit as he went right for the food in A'miri was holding up. He flopped around a bit until the bronze rider helped him back up and chirped happily as he started to in hail the food given to him.
Name: Sneakers Bonded To: A'miri Color: Brown Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Runner Shoe Egg
Description: The Runner Shoe flitter is a lovely shade of chestnut brown. Most of his coloring is very even though on his belly he has a lighter patch of coloring that resembles the shoes on his egg.
The fire lizards arms and legs are both a little longer then normal, giving him the advantage of being able to push off the ground with more strength then most flitters. Until he reaches his full size, his flight will be a little awkward but once he stops growing he’ll get use to his longer limbs.
Personality: This joyful little flitter loves to fly. And he loves to fly fast and recklessly. Diving into tight spaces where one wrong move would mean smushed flitter is just right for him. He’s either very lucky or very skilled.

A'miri came closer when the Head woman told him too. He unwrapped his meat rolls and watched as the eggs started crack in earnest. He was surprised when the Cracks Egg cracked open the little blue seemed to dislike them being near. He didn't want to risk a bite so he leaned back a bit to give the tiny thing more room. It would decide who he wanted when he was ready. He smiled as the golden flit cooed at her newly hatched son, as if she was encouraging him to choose. What a interesting color this little flit was. No mestaking him in a bunch of others. Maybe it was his imagination, but the little blue hatchling looked a lot like the egg he just finished shaking off.
The next egg to crack was the Moth Egg, a tiny green leg poked out of its shell. Before it could shake itself free of its shell the Runner Shoe Egg split wide open, almost as if to say 'Me First!' The tiny chestnut brown flit with the lighter colored tummy shook himself free of the egg then stumbled a bit over his long legs when they got tangled up.
He headed right for A'miri with no hesitation, taking a big bite out of the offered meat roll in the mans hand, the tiny flit climbed up into his lap and gobbled every bite he was offered. Once he slowed down a bit A'miri ventured a soft scratch of a tiny eyelid. The little brown was still a moment under the new sensation then trilled a sound that was almost a purr as he leaned into the big finger for more.
The little thing ate every bite of meat roll he had before curling up on his persons arm and ecurly wrapping his tail around A'miri's wrist. Grinning like a fool he continued to lightly rub his new friend. Achilleth, wake up, we have a new addition to our family. We have a chestnut brown flit. What do you think?[/I] A'miri asked his sleepy bronze.
Waking up with a huge yawn, Achilleth looked at what his rider was seeing when he invisioned the sleepy little flit that was softly snoring in the mans arms. I think we will like him being around. I will like the company. I do think it was a bit sneaky of you to not wake me sooner, I could have welcomed him when he hatched.[/I][/color] The big bronze said softly with a welcoming rumble sound to his voice.
Achilleth, you are brilliant, I like it. You just named the little fella. We will call him sneakers.[/I] Of course I am brilliant, I choose you didn't I? Sneakers? I like it MINE. Welcome to our Weyr Sneakers. You will like it here.[/I][/b]Achilleth rumbled.
The little flit didn't even stir. A'miri looked up to see how M'nor was doing with his little blue. It seemed the tiny thing was as hungry as Sneakers was a bit ago. "What are you going to call him M'nor? Thank you Head woman Emera for letting me have little Sneakers. Achilleth and I will take good care of him I promise." A'miri spoke softly like he would if he were afraid of waking a human baby.

M'nor watched as the blue speckled egg hatched and revealed a blue speckled blue fire lizard. He watched with wide eyes as it greedily ate the sandwhich that was in his hands. The little fire lizard soon went into his hands and fell asleep after eating which caused M'nor to smile. "Your amazing," said M'nor as he started to pet the small creature and realized that he had just gotten his new pet. "I'll name you Veint," said M'nor as he petted him then looked over at the golden fire lizard. "Thank you," said M'nor as he was pleased at the small creature just as a familar voice entered his head.
"What a puny little thing," said Oreth to his rider as he aware there was a new addition to their family and then grumbled. His rider however ignored him then continued to rub the small fire lizard on the had and marveled at the tiny dragon. M'nor had always wanted a fire lizard for the longest time yet they we're incredibly rare. The little fire lizard would be great with sending messages to people and would be good to keep him company while his dragon slept. "What a wonderous little dragon," said M'nor as it was apparent that he was quite taken with the small dragon. It was marvelous thought to wonder how their modern dragons could come from such a small thing.

The Moth Egg finally cracked open and spilled the green flitter within out onto the sands. She was slow and sluggish moving, more interested in curling back up then in trying to find food. Orlai let out a trill as she tried to encourage the green to find someone but the Moth Flitter ignored the gold, wrapping her tail around her body instead.
Maybe it was the boring behavior of his sister that caused the Bunny Egg to shake as the flitter within started to break out. Those close to the eggs could almost hear the ‘thump’ of something hitting the shell from the inside. The shell didn’t just crack under the assault, but shattered, leaving a small blue flitter stuck on his back. Once he righted himself, he took a few fluttering hops towards the people around him, cheeping as he inspected the food being held out for him. Stretching his neck out, he took a nibble of a meatroll that F'ren held out before taking a few more hops and pouncing happily on the rest of the food.
Name: Bonded To: F'ren Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Bunny
Description: The Bunny fire lizard is a bright shade of baby blue. He’s the same shade all over his little body, even his claws are a shade of a blue. His bright coloring makes him stand out a bit, as well as his size.
Bunny is a little blue flitter though, smaller then some of the greens really. His head knobs are the normal size for most blues though, giving him the appearance of rabbit ears. His back legs are also a bit oversized compared to the rest of him. When he’s not flying, he tends to hop around on those back legs to get around.
Personality: Few things seem to be able to bother the little blue. He’s a social guy but isn’t as annoying or as loud as others can be. He just loves to be around others and gets so excited when someone gives him some affection. Bunny flitter is almost always moving around, even if it’s just hopping about from place to place, it’s not often that he’s sitting still.
Unless he’s eating. If there’s something he likes more then people, it’s getting food. He isn’t greedy about food but just loves to nibble on a nice piece of meat.
Since the Moth Flitter seemed to be more interested in dozing then in finding someone to bond to, the Broken Mirror Egg gave up on waiting and started to break apart. The flitter within made short work of the shell, breaking hunks of it off until there was nothing but shattered shell and a bronze left on the sands. A hush came over the people still trying to get a flitter as they all took a moment to admire the Broken Mirror fire lizard. The bronze seemed to know that all eyes were on him and his little chest swelled with pride. He took a few strutting steps before someone sneezed and spooked him, turning the bronze from a prideful lizard into a twitchy ball of wings and tail that went right for Bahari.
Name: Bonded To: Bahari Color: Bronze Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Broken Mirror
Description: The coloring on the Broken Mirror flitter isn’t smooth and blended like most flitter’s, but sharp jagged patches. His overall hide is a rich bronze, darker then normal but still clearly bronze. Slivers of different hues cover his hide, his under sides have a more golden tint to them while his back is more copper hued. In the light, it’s the slivers that shine more brightly then the rest of his hide.
A large bulky bronze, he's the biggest flitter of his clutch. His body is almost perfectly proportional for his size though so he's not a clumsy flyer.
Personality: Even since hatching, the Mirror flitter has been a twitchy and jumpy little thing. He’s not scared of everything, he’s just easily surprised by it all. A loud sound will make him flap around a bit before he goes to check it out. He’s always moving around, his head trying to look at everything at once. He acts like a young child who’s had a little too much klah.
The Moth Flitter looked up at the noise, let out a little yawn and returned to napping. Even Orlai nudging at the green only made her open one eye and peer up at the people there. Hmm nap time or food time... For the green, nap time won. At least until Orlai screeched at her. Letting out a pitiful whine, the green got up and tromped around on the sands, making sure that everyone knew she wasn't doing this because she wanted to but because she had to. Finally she found someone she liked the looks of, or she was just tired of looking and settled for Kassirin. She snagged the food out of the girl's hand, swallowing it quickly before flopping back down in front of her.
Name: Bonded To: Kassirin Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Egg: Moth Egg
Description: The Moth flitter is a dark forest green. She’s not a single shade of it though, there are darker and lighter shades of the green all over her hide. In the Weyr it seems a bit odd and makes her stand out, but once she’s outside she blends in perfectly with the trees around the Weyr. She still has the eye spots that were on her egg as well, though they can only be seen when her wings are stretched out.
Personality: Most people will find the Moth flitter a little odd. During the day she tends to nap around and be lazy. But as soon as it starts to get dark out she comes to life. She’s mostly active during the predawn and twilight hours of the day and does her hurting and flights during those few hours. But even in the dark when she can’t see, she can be heard scurrying around and making noise.
