“Let us strive for what is honorable and highest,
While upholding the standards of true brotherhood,
Respect for our weyr, and all of Pern.”
Established 120 turns ago under the core values of
Brotherhood, Dignity, Respect, and Justice

650 turns ago, AIVAS was deactivated after eliminating the threat of thread and bringing about changes in medicine, printing, and smithing forever. It almost seemed to good to be true at first. The human population flourished and spread out. Dragonmen lived in peace and were no longer called upon to deliver Pern from an age old enemy. No longer needed, fewer and fewer families elected to give up their children to the cause of candidacy and turned them instead towards the crafthalls. Improvements in science and art were plentiful. Everything was perfect.
But the southern dragonriders didn't believe it. They continued to hold steadfast to their traditions, and although their numbers also declined, they continued to practice wing drills and teach their dragons to flame. They didn't let greens rise and occasionally clutch like the remainiong four northern weyrs did. And then when thread started falling again fifteen turns ago, they thought of themselves as proven right.
Approximately 5% of the total population of Pern was lost in the first fall since the supposed riddance of thread. Seeking answers, people turned to the starsmiths, demanding an explanation as to why AIVAS's master plan fell through. They concluded that when the Red Star's orbit was blasted and shifted, clusters of thread broke loose, and overtime the intellegent organisms regrouped and strengthened in the planet's old orbit enough to once again break through Pern's orbit and cause havok.
Only about 100 dragons were left on Pern at the time, three of which were golds. A maddening rush to repopulate Pern began, and a fourth gold was shelled a turn before the death of an elder gold. The youngest queen, Soteriath, currently resides at Adelphos Weyr, also known as the flagship weyr of Pern. Adelphos focuses on only developing and training the best and brightest dragonmen, while adhering to the strict ideals of brotherhood, dignity, respect, and justice. Currently, dragons number all in all about 150 on Pern, but with thread falling randomly and totally unpredictably, the quest is on to find suitable candidates for Adelphos' upcoming hatching.
