Raelan was tossing and turning in his sweat soaked sheets as he tried to prop himself up. When he ended up falling back into the bed and fell asleep for a few more hours when he came to the room was different. The young man looked around to see that he wasn't in the candidate barracks anymore and recognized it as the infirmary. He remembered the fever that he'd been suffering the last few days and then still felt too weak to move. When a hand reached for his forehead he felt a damp cloth then with a sigh went back to sleep.
It seemed like forever till he woke again or at least till he came to a level able to talk. "Whatt," said Raelan as he could hear voices around him and finally could make out shadows as he kept coming in and out. When he woke the room was dark except for a fire in the corner and then he just laid back down. The young man didn't realize how long he'd been asleep as days had probably past when he sat up. His stomach growled as he looked around and he could still feel the room spinning. "Hello," asked Raelan as he hoped one of the healers we're around because he wanted to know what had happened to him? It was apparent that he was very sick and that it had taken a lot of him because e he felt very weak.
The fire continued to crackle and provide warmth to the room as no one else was around the room. He hoped that he would receive a explanation soon and called out, "Hello anyone out there,".

Vaylee was not happy about the shift she had to work today. While dragon healing gave her something to do, something that distinguished her from other female riders, she still felt that perhaps she was doing way too much. In fact it seemed she was going to have to man both infirmaries now. When she heard a voice come from the vacant Human infirmary, she walked through the doorway out from the dragon infirmary and answered, “Yes, what seems to be the problem?” The others must have thought it safe to leave without getting caught. ERGH. This was so not her job anymore. The woman was not at all fond of working this late shift but everyone had to make sacrifices for the Weyr. Hers just happened to do with getting a good night’s sleep. She found it must have been the young man with the fever who was speaking and decided to take a glass of water with her. He was going to need to stay as hydrated as possible. The blonde set the glass on the small table next to the bed. He was doing better though it might be a good idea to get him up to change the wet sheets he had been laying on. That’s what happen when fevers broke. He had been sweating profusely throughout the day. She knew because the Healers had been complaining about bringing a serious illness into the Weyr. Well she better not get it just because the people on the shift in here were out doing whatever they wanted. Probably thought no one would notice. She had been tempted to get something from the night hearth herself but because of her duties decided to stay put. Human healing was no longer her expertise so she hoped whatever this young man wanted, it would be easy to deal with. Waiting for his answer she took a moment to check in with her green. Still sleeping. Lucky! One of these days she was going to get a day off from drills, infirmary work and whatever else cropped up inbetween. She felt like she had not had time for fun in Turns when it was more likely weeks. Where was that sharding Bronzerider friend of hers when she needed him?! Couldn’t he push some buttons and get her out of drills in the morning?

Raelan heard a voice then saw what looked to be a beautiful blonde woman standing in the doorway and he didn't recognize her. "What is going on," asked Raelan as he looked at her and wondered how long he had been out? When he saw some water being sat beside of him he tentatively took out a shaky hand and gripped the water. When he slushed some water with his unsteady hand and he grimaced at making such a mess. The young candidate was never so unshaky and contributed it to being ill. He finally gripped the water and put it to his mouth then drank it down. The water never felt so good as he started to drank it down and finished enough water down before almost choking on it. When he sat down the water then looked around before falling back on the bed.
"How long have I been out," asked Raelan as he hoped that he hadn't missed anything important as one one of the queens rising? He didn't want to loose track of any important steps of the queens because that meant he lost track of when they would clutch their eggs. Raelan was very quiet after that as he realized that he had been truly sick the last few days and sighed. His personal thanks to at least he'd gotten sick when there was no clutching or any other important event. The young man smiled a little at her he hadn't figured that he would luck into such a beautiful healer. "I didn't miss anything did I," asked Raelan as he looked at her and then waited because he was curious as to what had occurred during his illness?

"You had a fever." She said with the soft tones which had gotten her the job in the infirmary in the first place. Her voice could be very soothing and calming. "Here, let me help." She offered, putting her hand around his on the glass to steady him. "You need to drink as much water as you feel you can handle. Are you hungry?" Vaylee asked and then listened to his other pressing questions.
She smiled understandingly, "Not that long, half a day I would guess although I could be wrong. I'm actually working the dragon infirimary tonight and was not here at all during the day. The fever took a long time to break. Luckily it did and you are on your way to recovery." Course she really was not sure how long Realan had been there because she was in the Dragon Infirmary on a night shift and had been working her other job of being a dragonrider during the day. Cupith would argue that it was the same job just separate duties. Being a dragonrider meant being a savior of Pern and apparently the dragon felt dragonhealing had the same definition. Vaylee chose not to argue that with the green for she made a rather logical point from a dragon's point of view.
After his next question, Vaylee wondered what he thought was important. Hopefully not Candidate lessons for she was pretty sure those were going to continue even if he was sick. The Candidate Master would get him caught up on whatever was missed. "Gold Orlai clutched but that is the only thing of any importance that I'm privy to know about that has happened while you've been unconscious."

Raelan breathed a sigh of relief as he heard her speak and smiled at the news. He didn't give a lot of thought to the gold fire lizard as he didn't really care for fire lizards. The fire lizards we're a consolation prize for riding a dragon. "I'm just glad I didn't miss news of one of the gold dragons rising," said Raelan as he smiled the biggest smile in his life. While he listened to her speak then said, "Thank you for your help," as he looked at the beautiful dragon rider. "I was very thankful that you helped me out," said Raelan as he tried to get out of bed first by gripping the side of the bed. When he'd braced himself the young man pushed himself up and felt the room spin. "Dizzi," said Raelan as sat down and then looked up at the spinning room.
He knew that sickness had taken a lot of him and it would take a while to regain his strength. Raelan looked up at her then took a few more moments and then tried to stand again this time using a nearby chair for support. The young man had successfully stood and smiled at this milestone even though in normal circumstances it wouldn't be that amazing. When he looked around then realized that he felt very weak in his legs and he felt dirty after laying in that bed for amount of time. "I can't believe this," said Raelan as he moved to sit in the chair and realized what a sight he most likely made. A sick young man that looked as if death had almost seized him because he didn't feel his usual healthy self.
