At last the gold fire lizard had decided to lay her clutch. Emera was rather thankful for that. The piggy little thing had taken advantage of her state and had eaten anything that came in sight. But now Orlai had retreated to the Hatching Sands, finding herself a nice little corner to lay her clutch.
While most flitters would want to show off their newly laid eggs, both the gold and the Headwoman knew that the Brat Pack would try something. So instead, the rather large clutch was greeted with little fanfare. Still, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the Weyr's flitters, dragons, riders, and anyone else knew that the clutch was there, all thirteen eggs hardening in the hot sands.
The Coin Egg is one of the smallest eggs in the clutch. Its slate gray shell is dotted with various circles in shades of glittering golds, silvers, and coppers. Touching the egg gives someone the urge to share their things with everyone else around them.
The second largest egg in the clutch has been dubbed the Starry Night Egg due to the multi-hued swirls of blue and yellow and white orbs that resemble the night sky. The egg gives off day-dreamy feeling, eager to have the chance to make those dreams real.
Another large egg is the Broken Mirror Egg. The shell is dotted with shiny, almost reflective shards that look like they could fit together. The rest of the egg is marbling shades of browns. When touched, the egg gives off a jumpy feeling, like the flitter within expects something bad to happen at any moment.
At the first glance, the small Clover Egg looks to be a uniformed shade of green. But a closer look shows that the shell is covered with the shape of small clover leaves. The egg gives off a happy-go-lucky sort of feeling, making anyone’s day a little better.
The medium sized Moth Egg is main a speckling of brown and grays. On the back side of the egg though there are two rather eerie black spots that look an awful lot like eyes watching you. During the day the egg has a rather mellow feel to it, at night though it has a rather nervous energy to it.
The Black Cat Egg is a rather dull looking egg. It’s black. Completely black. Though when the light falls on it just right, two jade green spots can be seen. When touched, the flitter within the egg feels like it wants to scurry away.
The largest egg of the clutch is the Rainbow Egg. The shell is a pebbly mosaic of every color; speckles of blues and purples blending in with the brighter shades of yellow and red. No one color stands out more then any other. A sense of pride and accomplishment fills those who touch the egg.
Right next to the largest egg is the smallest egg, the Bunny Egg. Every time someone looks at the egg, they seem to notice more vaguely rabbit shaped images on the grass green egg. It’s almost as if the rabbits are multiplying on the shell… A happy, bouncy feeling to the egg. And hungry.
The cream colored Ladders Egg is another one of the medium sized eggs. The smooth shell is criss-crossed with silver and brown shapes that resemble ladders. A sense of daring and boldness comes to those that touch the egg.
Even just looking at the Evil Eye Egg seems to give people the creeps. There’s no real reason for it, the egg is more round then the rest, more like a ball then an egg. On oppisit faces of the egg are a dark blue circle surrounded by a lighter blue circle then a white one, with the pattern repeating. The egg itself gives off no real feelings, just a sense of boredom.
The Cracks Egg looks like it could break apart at any moment. The egg has a rough, almost rocky texture to it, it’s dark gray-green surface marred by jagged black lines crossing every inch of the egg. Anyone brave enough to touch the egg would realize the shell is perfectly fine but that the flitter within is a dour little thing.
The Runner Shoe Egg is a cheerful looking thing. The egg is a bright, sunny yellow with dark gold and bronze U shapes scattered around it. Those touching it will feel like nothing can go wrong for them.
The last egg of the clutch is the Dragon Fly Egg. Across the sky blue egg are a few small little shapes that resemble dragon flies, with wings that shine in the light. The feeling one gets when touching the shell is a sense of curiosity and the need to see something new.
