What would you like to be called OOC? Heather
Email: obsidian.writer@gmail.com
Character Info:
Name: Suynie (Soo-nee)
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Rank: Goldrider
Family:
Mother: Ayunae (Ah-you-nay), cothold resident, 50
Father: Samter, farmer, 58
Brother: Gylle (Gill), Dragonshield Member, 31
Appearance: Suynie has thick, wavy black hair that falls smoothly to just beneath her shoulders where it ends in a soft curl. Her skin is fair despite being a native Southerner and her flawless complexion compliments her big brown eyes. Suynie’s lips are full and pert and they’re usually curved into a welcoming smile. She speaks with a regal lift to her head, and has a smooth gait that accentuates the small flare of her hips. The weyrwoman dresses in simple, but fitted, jerkins and breeches and is most comfortable in her riding boots. Even though her clothes may be simple, no one should be fooled into thinking that this goldrider isn't elegant.
She’s tall at 5’8”, and has a regal profile, that is outlined by her confident stance. With her tall, willowy form, Suynie is not a very voluptious woman, but is toned and in shape from dragonriding. Her fingers, once soft and delicate from her work as a weavercrafter, have toughened and calloused from the manual care she gives her dragon. Suynie has the usual amount of scars flicked over her body, and there's one on the side of her leg that she received when she took a fall as a child.
Body Model:
Personality: Much like her dragon, Suynie is the essence of what a lady should be- poised, elegant, graceful, and the very picture of proper etiquette. Unlike her dragon, however, Suynie isn't nearly as suave with the opposite sex and more often than not some of Rhiannoth's quips with bronze and brown dragons leaves Suynie with a soft blush over her cheeks. Suynie didn't grow up sheltered, but she did grow up with a mother who was determined to impress upon Suynie how important it was to be a lady. Of course, the southern woman would never have dreamed that Suynie would become a dragonrider- she was preparing her daughter for a good marriage!
The weak point of Suynie's graceful nature is that she is rather blunt. The woman usually soothes over her, sometimes, harsh words with a kind smile. She’s a born leader and knows how to mediate fairly between the members of the Weyr. Hard working and honest, Suynie will some day become a leader that people can look up to. She’s been single for a while and doesn’t plan on changing that any time soon as she considers her work and duties to the Weyr to be the most important part of her life outside of Rhiannoth.
The one thing that worries Suynie the most is that her beautiful Rhiannoth has still not risen to mate. Not that Suynie's anxious to bed some strange man, but Suynie knows with the increasing danger towards gold dragons that it is necessary for Rhiannoth to clutch and provide the Weyr with a strong group of dragons. Rarely one drawn into anger, the quickest way to see Suynie riled up is to mention the Holdless attack that occured at Haven Weyr. Ever since the death of Haven's queens, Suynie has found herself harboring more and more dislike and hatred towards the Holdless people.
Hobbies/Skills: Weaving
History: Suynie was born at a small cothold beholden to Refuge Weyr. It was her mother's biggest wish for Suynie to be chosen to be the Lady of a "real" Hold. From as far back as Suynie can remember she was drille daily on the proper etiquette of a Lady by her mother. They worked tirelessly on the proper way to walk, dance, laugh, and chew your food. Now that Suynie is a goldrider at the Weyr she looks back on these memories and laughs, but at the time they consumed her life.
Suynie was given the traditional schooling of a cothold child, and what she lacked in receiving from the harper, her mother filled her in with her on opinions. Suynie's mother- Ayunae- considered herself to be the authority on current events, history, and of course, if the cothold would listen to her _her_ they would be much more prosperous. Suynie never realized how ridiculous some of her mother's notions were until she met with children from other areas at Gatherings and was able to exchange news and gossip.
Fortunately for Suynie, she enjoyed Weaving (which she learned from her mother) and found herself rather adept at it. Spending her time weaving wonderfully colored creations together was far more interesting than listening to her mother talk about the latest gossip from the Weyr. Suynie barely listened while her mother spoke of "holdless people" and their feelings towards the dragonriders.
When Suynie was eighteen she became a Candidate at Refuge Weyr where she would also continue her weaving. Once again, Suynie considered it a wonderful chance to get away from her mother for a while. For Turns Suynie had listened to her mother talk about the "horrors of the Weyr", and she was ready to see them for herself! Only, when she arrived at the Weyr she didn't find any "horrors" and actually found the liberal atmosphere much less restricting than her mother's home.
Suynie can vividly remember the first time she was at the Weyr during one of the Holdless attacks. She also remembers hiding in the Candidate Barracks while the Weyr defended itself. Apparently her mother hadn't been completely amiss when she spoke of the Holdless peoples' feelings towards the dragonriders. Only, Suynie couldn't imagine why anyone would hate the dragonriders, they were their saviours, right?
At twenty-two, Suynie never stepped onto the Sands thinking that she would Impress to the beautiful, gold dragon that stepped from it's enormous shell. She hadn't even really thought she would Impress at all. But after watching the gold dragon knock over a few girls, Suynie had suddenly come face to face with a large, wedge-shaped head with whirling eyes.
Weyrlinghood was a good time for Suynie and her lovely Rhiannoth. Even though they weren't quite the same as the other Weyrlings, Suynie still managed to make friends among her peers (when Rhiannoth wasn't saying things that made her blush.)
Nearly twenty-five, Suynie felt the heartbreak of Haven Weyr's tragedy when word came that two of their golds had been killed in an attack made by the Holdless band. That sadness was replaced by emotions that rarely filled Suynie- anger and hatred. How dare the Holdless commit a crime such as killing a dragon! And not just any dragon- a queen. Suynie and Rhiannoth gladly went to Haven Weyr to help the people rally themselves and begin to rebuild that which was lost.
Name: Rhiannoth (Ree-ann-oth)
Impressed To: Suynie
Color: Gold
Age: 3 Turns
Description:
Beautifully proportioned, this queen certainly has her mother’s lovely build, for there is no denying how stunning she is. Every single thing about Rhiannoth is perfect, from her gorgeous face all the way to her flawless legs. The very epitome of a gold dragon, there is not one single flaw on her unblemished hide.
Built lithe and gorgeous, she will one day grow even larger than her mother, standing several feet above Aeriath in size. With an innate grace and sense of poise, even weyrlinghood will not find this dragonet clumsy in the slightest. From the moment she hatches, Rhiannoth will be perfectly graceful and elegant in movement.
In coloration, the queen is just slightly darker than her dame, holding the hue of a sunflower in full bloom. Her hide is iridescent, like Aeriath’s, and instead of holding the usual metallic sheen, it dances with an array of silver and gold when the light strikes her. Her stomach and paws are of a lighter hue, while her claws and neckridges are a deep, burnished gold in color.
Personality:
Very much her mother’s daughter, Rhiannoth holds a very dignified, cultured air about her that is unmistakably all lady. Poised and elegant, there will not be a single dragon that could miss the refined traits of this lovely gold. Regal in every respect, she will be quite a lady through everything, whether it be wonderful or terrible. Nothing will strip this queen of her noble air. Rhiannoth will walk, talk, and move gracefully, her body sinuous and her words smooth.
Extremely confident, this dragon will always take control when she wishes, and Aeriath is the single individual she will obey without question. A leader through and through, this gold has a quick mind and an intensely powerful influence. Because of her elegant and noble air, Rhiannoth is a very enchanting presence, which only makes her that much of a natural leader. Other dragons will easily see her as their queen, for her strong and powerful will is not to be denied.
This gold also adores being complimented, like her mother, but she plays a bit of a rougher game than Aeriath. Rhiannoth is a very powerful and clever queen, and she can fluster almost any dragon; bronze, brown, or blue alike. In flirtations, she is smooth and holds a masterful wit, and any dragon who wishes to verbally jest or flirt with this gold had better be quick on their paws. Rhiannoth is quite the ringmaster, playing all of her admirers with perfect expertise, charming everyone and very much the entertainer when she wants to be.
Only the cleverest dragons will be able to keep pace with her when she really gets going, for she can quickly turn up the heat, and this will only make the males that much more determined to impress her. This queen can win you over easily, like an angel sweeping you off your feet, and will hold your heart. After she does, however, watch out. Rhiannoth can be quite hard to handle. To her bonded, however, she will be completely loving and in utter adoration of her chosen rider.
History: However, attention was effectively wrenched away from these two when a loud crack echoed throughout the cavern, and a large, wide fracture ran down the side of the Enchanting Great Queen Egg. The greens were, sadly, forgotten for the moment as nearly everyone within the cavern diverted their attention to the gorgeous golden shell. Almost as if receiving all the encouragement she needed to hatch, the dragonet within suddenly began her struggle anew, a golden foot smashing through the shell. Leaning forward, Raelwyn unknowingly mirrored her dragoness in every way, for Aeriath leaned closer as well, watching her daughter intently. With powerful strikes, the Enchanting Great Queen Egg was crumbling about the new queen, and soon enough the lady within was mostly revealed.
Much larger than her dame was upon hatching, the young queen raised her head and surveyed those watching her coolly, her movements slow and fluid. A lovely color danced upon her hide, a shade or so darker than Aeriath’s, and she was, without a doubt, beautifully proportioned. A sigh of relief swept through those watching, glad to see their new queen was safe and sound. Arching her neck, the gold raised her head to watch her mother, and Aeriath hummed in approval, lowering her neck to touch her nose to the young gold’s. With that brief contact, the dragonet swung her tail and easily broke the last bit of shell, stepping away from her egg gracefully.
Stepping forward, the Enchanting Great Queen displayed a charm and poise that had never been seen upon the sands, her movements even more elegant than her other green sisters who had seemed graceful at the time. Prowling near the candidates with a feline-like grace, the gold arched her neck and laughed, her smooth, lovely voice echoing throughout every mind in the cavern. Pausing, her body perfectly balanced, the young queen eyed the candidates before darting forward, poetry in motion.
Regal and refined, everything about this dragonet was beauty made real, her lithe body and perfect hide glittering in the glowlight. Dancing among the females, the dragonet moved among them all, dashing and darting this way and that until every girl had to turn in circles to keep up with her. Leaping past Anaryn, she left a deep gash down the girl’s leg, one that would likely need stitches when the hatching was through.
Still moving through her frantic dance, the gold knocked Vaylee over, her sharp claws shredding the girl’s right leg and arm. Not life-threatening, but rather painful, those wounds would need stitches as well. Another girl received the same treatment, except upon her stomach, while Zaylee was scored across both of her legs as well. It had not been her intention to injure them, merely to play, but the queen did not know her own strength and power, and she soon shook her head, slowing to a prowl once more.
Lifting her head primly, the gold sauntered past the girls now, intent on ignoring them until she reached Hers. If they were too stupid to play her game correctly, then they were not worthy of her time. Stalking smoothly and lithely towards her chosen, the queen paused before her, neck arched and her body taut to show off how lovely she was. Ah, my rider, I am Rhiannoth, your dragon and Refuge’s second queen. Never forget that, my love, for we are too precious to ignore.
Rhiannoth and Suynie went through Weyrlinghood much like any pair, but their lives were changed on the day that they received word that the Queens at Haven Weyr had been killed in a ruthless Holdless attack. Since the Weyr was left without the leadership of a Queen, Rhiannoth and Suynie, a Turn and a half into Weyrlinghood, were sent to Haven to help organize and get things back under control.
After spending a full Turn at Haven, Rhiannoth returns to Refuge Weyr with her rider, and although she is late to rise, the queen assures her rider that when the time is right she will rise and give the Weyr a mating flight the likes of which has never been seen.
