T'mar sat on his bunk resting like he was told to. The healers said he was lucky his arm wasn't broken. It was cracked or did they say a fracture, ya that's it, hairline fractured. All he knew was that it hurt to even breathe too deeply. He didn't know why that should hurt his arm, he just knew that every little movement did.
Petroth was laying on his couch within easy reach, he tried putting his head on T'mars lap but he bumped the lads injured arm causing him to cry out in pain. Sense then he had put his head on the pillow and just watched. I am sorry for bumping your arm Tmarmine. Is it feeling better now? Do you need some of that juice that helps it not hurt any more? The dark blue twin asked softly.
Carefully shifting himself around so his head was on the pillow next to his lifemates, T'mar reached up with his good hand and started rubbing Petroth around his eye ridges. "You didn't mean to hurt me Pet. I'm not mad at you. The healer said they would send someone when it was time for the juice. It's not too bad now that I'm laying back down." He spoke out loud to the worried blue.
T'mars thoughts turned to the attack and what happened afterwards. G'off sounded genuinely concerned for his welfare, he even helped him to the infirmary. He wouldn't forget it either, he owed the younger lad. He also didn't help the other homeless attack the other weyrlings and he had the perfect oppertunity. Then there was blue Danuth, Petroths twin. Did the bond between them and each other help G'off ? Was the fact that the dragons could hear not only each other but each others riders help too? Was G'off as lonely as he himself was but refused to show it to others? T'mar didn't know, but he hoped in some small way Petroth and himself helped stay G'offs hand that terrible day.
Petroth all but purred in contentment, he listened to his lifemates thoughts and didn't get upset over his saying he was lonely. Petroth understood that there was a difference between being lonely for a friend and just being lonely. His had explained it to him. It was close to how he felt when Tmarmine had to go somewhere he couldn't, that ment he was lonely for his, but being lonely lonely ment he missed being near his twin or clutchmates. Petroth didn't ever want to feel lonely like that. So he understood that Tmarmine was lonely for another person like himself.
Gently nuzzling Tmarmines head with his muzzle, Petroth decided his needed company. Keeping his mind voice strictly to his twin and not where T'mar could hear it, Petroth decided to speak to Danuth. Danuth, mine is lonely. Are you and yours busy? Does yours feel like being with tmarmine? Petroth asked even though he knew Danuth could hear his thinking. I think maybe it will help them both get closer and be more like brothers too. He added, he hoped that the boys would become very close, then no one would be this thing called lonely.

“Watch this.” G’off said to his dragon as he picked up a rock and made it skip across the water. “Pretty good, huh!” Things were better than before the attack though they both found the lake to be the most entertaining place to hang around at. Neither of them were particularly fond of being kept indoors. G’off was a bit bored now though as his dragon drifted in and out of a nap in the sunlight.
Most of the Weyr was melancholy but G’off’s spirits were high. He had time now to figure out where exactly he belonged in the world. Not that he would be given much choice. Danuth had made it quite clear that they were together forever.
The sun was warming his skin too much he thought as he sought a shadier spot around the lake. There is nothing wrong with warming one’s hide in the sun. No, there is nothing wrong with a dragon warming his hide in the sun. There is something wrong with pale skinned humans sitting too long in the sun. The skin burns.
Is it like fire? It can feel like its on fire but its not actually. The skin turns red and its painful until the dead skin peels off. Sounds awful. G’off agreed. It could be pretty awful. He’d lived under the protection of the trees more so than most. He had inherited his grandfather’s skin tone unlike his brother.
Petroth asks if we are busy. “I don’t think we are. Are we?” He asked slyly as the dragonet hesitated to get up from his napping spot. Guess not. He says T’mar is bored. That makes two of us. G’off knew the dragon wasn’t telling him the whole of what was being said. He doubted Petroth would call to them because his was bored. More likely the other boy was feeling down cause he couldn’t do too much right now. They really had nothing better to do though.
We come. He called to Petroth happily. It took him a moment to get up but they were soon on their way. It took a little longer for the dragons to move at a younger age however Danuth’s speed afoot was improving every day. “I hear there is nothing going on in here today!” G’off said loudly as he entered the boys side of the Weyrling Barracks. “How’re you feeling T’mar?” G’off asked kindly although there was always a hint of curiosity behind his questions. He had been inquisitive from a young age. Danuth greeted his twin with a happy chirp before standing next to the other blue.
What does lonely mean? He asked Petroth because lonely sounded horrible. He’d never heard G’off use the word before. The boy had often been on his own among the Holdless growing up. He had no reason to ever feel lonely.

T'mar perked up when he saw who had entered the barracks, G'off and Danuth. Of all the ones it could have been this pair was his choice. "He G'off, greetings Danuth you are looking well." He greeted the pair. "I'm glad you are here. I could use someone to talk to. And I don't know, but maybe Petroth could use a distraction from watching me." He told the lad honestly. "How are you doing? Oh, and I kinda wanted to thank you for helping me to the infirmary, I really appreciate it." He told the lad as he turned a dull shade of red.
Greetings brother, thank you for coming. Mine explained lonely to me as being a few different things.Petroth greeted his twin with a nuzzle. [ Tmarmine says that one way to be lonely is like how we feel when ours goes some place we can't go. And the other is like not being able to see you or any of our other clutchmates. Its like he was feeling before you and yours came in. He was lonely for another like him. He is glad I am here, but he needed yours to talk to. I don't ever want to be the other kind of lonely, I think that is how we felt the first time ours had to leave us alone for a bit. I did not like that feeling at all and I will do my best to make sure Tmarmine never feels that way. Petroth explained to hs twin giving Danuth another nuzzle before settling down for a quick nap.
Watching his Tmarmine was telling on his young mind, he was starting to mature and the bond between them was closer then ever. Adjusting himself where he could see his and still touch and take comfort from Danuth, Petroth gave a deep sigh of contentment as he slowly closed his eyes. He knew if anything distressed his he would wake up, but it was nice having his twin and his rider there that would guarentee the lads safety. I'm glad you and yours are here too. Thank you for coming.
Watching Petroth curl up and close his eyes to rest eased T'mars mind too. He was worried about Petroth, the poor blue wouldn't eat, maybe G'off would feed him. "Could I ask you a huge favor? Would you take Petroth with you when you go to feed Danuth? Maybe he will eat with his twin. He says he isn't hungry but I can tell he is." T'mar asked the other boy. He couldn't explain it, but he totally trusted G'off with Petroth. He suddenly realized that the lad was the only one he trusted with his lifemate. "You are the only one I trust with him G'off." He finished looking the younger boy straight in the eye.

The Barracks was practically deserted except for T’mar and himself which put G’off at a little more ease. He didn’t like feeling he was being watched or listened in on by anyone. Shrugging off the thank you he said, “Eh, it was nothing. You would have done the same for me.” I am well, T’mar. He told his twin’s lifemate before listening to the other blue’s explanation. Lonely sounded just awful.
Danuth was glad they could help keep T’mar from feeling this thing called lonely. G’off never mentioned the feeling at all. Was he ever lonely? No. G’off told his blue. I have not been lonely in a long long time. He was so used to it that even if he were it wouldn’t have an effect on him. There had been few people in his life before coming to the Weyr and he couldn’t say he missed a single one of them.
We will always be there for you. Danuth said to Petroth before curling up next to his twin. A nap did sound nice. G’off watched as both the blues began to get heavy lidded. Naps were for babies, he thought as he went back to sit on the cot across from T’mar. “Stubborn dragon, of course I’ll take him to feed. He needs it to keep up his strength and to keep growing at the same rate as Danuth.” Although the blues were both quite healthy they were noticeably smaller than Fenrith.
“When do the healer’s say you can start moving about more?” G’off asked. Whether he was asking because he genuinely cared about the other boy or because he didn’t want to be responsible for Petroth for too long was not clear. “Lessons are bound to start up again soon.” Hopefully they weren’t too far behind. Playing catch up would not be fun!

"They say I need a few more days, by then I should be able to attend classes and start using my arm more. But I'm to be careful. Thank you for taking Petroth when you go feed Danuth, I know he will feel better with you and Danuth." T'mar said softly. "You don't think we will have too hard of a time catching up, do you? Considering everything has happened?" He asked all worried.
T'mar tried to sound like he was going to be fine before G'off knew it. He wasn't kidding himself, he knew he hurt pretty bad now, but it was much better then a few days ago. He vowed to himself that no matter what he would be at least feeding Petroth as soon as they said he could get out of bed, or when he snuck out. Yes that's it, he could use the blue for support if he needed it.
Mine! You won't no such thing, this sneaking doesn't sound a bit good to me at all. Tell him brother that sneaking isn't good Petroth only opened hid eyes to stare once again at his. He was careful to keep the plea to his twin just between the two of them. { Take it easy Pet. I was meaning you could go with me if we took it slow. I know you won't hurt me. And why not, I can't bathe you yet.} he told his worried blue.
"I was just thinking, its not fair to ask you to bathe Petroth too, do you have any suggestions? Dang arm!" T'mar said shaking his arm in frustration causing him to hiss in pain. Ignoring it he looked at the resting twins. "They sure look comfortable." He said mostly to himself.

G’off was just now realizing how much it bothered T’mar to be unable to feed and take care of his own dragon and go to lessons. The lightening of the mood was harder than he thought it would be. With a casual smile, “Oh lessons won’t be hard to catch up on. In fact You stay here and rest. When we have lessons, Petroth can come and let you know everything we are doing. And I’ll come back and fill in anything you missed. The best thing you can do is rest. The more rest, the more you heal. At least that is what I’ve been told.”
The younger boy remained silent on the matter of sneaking. Who was he to keep T’mar from sneaking out? He had no authority and honestly if he wanted to do it who would stop him? Petroth will be fine with us. We are family. Move before you are ready and you could take longer to heal. First Aid lesson. The blue explained his reasoning. Something he was sure his brother would agree with. T’mar would come around.
“We’ll take care of Petroth. They are small blues it won’t take me long to feed and bathe both of them. Not any longer than it takes R’kin to bathe and feed Krestanovith.” Two blues probably took about the same time as one Bronze. “If you want I can get a healer to come by and check on your progress every day. That way we’ll know as soon as possible when you can do things.”
Green eyes lifted from the floor to look at his new friend. “Worrying will do you know good. Don’t stress over it at all. Hurting your arm more is not going to help though.” He understood T’mar was frustrated. “I can always get some Weyrbrats and Candidates to help if I need. The twins are somewhat of a novelty.”

Visably relaxing against his pillow, T'mar looked back up to G'ogg with a bit of tears showing but refusing to fall. "Really? You would really do that for me? No for us both?" He refused to cry. He was a big boy now even if he didn't much feel like one at the moment. His arm was really starting to throb hard.
He managed a smile at Danuth for reminding him of healer lessons on resting when one was hurt. Ty for reminging me Danuth, I'm very grateful. And yes, Peet you have said the same thing. With two of you I guess I just need to relax. Would you go to classes for me Pet? T'mar spoke to the twins still grinning. "Well with them both reminding me of resting and healer lessons. I guess I don't have much choice in the matter do I?" He said managing to laugh a little bit.
Hurrramph! Was the snorting responce from Petroth. He had tried to tell his that many times. Maybe with G'off and Danuths help the lad would heal faster. I would be honored to go to classes with G'off and Danuth. It would be fun to get bathed and play in the water too. I don't know about others bathing me, but if Danuths is willing to watch them so they don't miss any places, I will allow it until you are able to do it yourself. He answered softly encouraging his rider.
T'mar knew he didn't have to repete to G'ogg what Petroth said. So he relaxed some more. "OK, I'll behave and rest I promise." He told them all out loud.
