Rules...
1. No God modding - definition of god modding= in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. An example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try. -It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission. -It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them. -It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as Legolas, then you cannot have Legolas say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission. The absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they’re not, just to make their own character seem superior. They make others seem weak, screaming for help, when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. This is called power-play. It’s a strain of God-Modding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot.
2. No Mary Poppins (people who are practically perfect in every way) Everyone has faults and often times faults make us more unique rather than our better qualities
3. No extreme violence unless permission is granted by the Admin (Message me first) We need to make sure that everyone involved is okay with this. Including our other members.
4. No Mature threads. We play on proboards, this is part of the proboards TOS.
5. If you have a problem with someone, contact HG or Smara, don't add food to the fire.
6. No one may rp a character until it is approved. (We will approve characters as quickly as possible)
7. No excessive swearing. Remember on Pern they don't use the same words. (Use shards or deadglow instead)
8. No characters from the books. (I would not suggest modeling your own characters after people in the books either. Most of them were rather Sue-ish)
9. No unbeatable characters... everyone has a weakness.
10. We consider this site an intermediate level roleplay, some of our roleplayers are even more advanced. If you do not feel you can post more than a paragraph per post we do not suggest roleplaying here. If you want help learning some techniques to write longer posts we would be glad to help. Otherwise please keep in mind that people need something to go on to write a post back to you.
11. Metallics-- I know many Pern rpers do not want to hear that Golds and Bronzes are more important to the plot. Here they are because we are canon. Golds lead the Weyr as do Bronzes. We need active players to be the owners of such dragons. Therefore, if you do not feel you have the time to dedicate to this place, I'd prefer you did not pick up a Bronze. All Golds will be impressed on this Board until otherwise stated.
12. Do not join with a Firelizard or any other pet for that matter unless you have been given permission by the admins or have a Character in the Dragon Shield.
13. Twins are earned on this board. If you are an active member who has been here often and helped with plots rest assured if you ask for Twins we will give them to you. However, if you are only just joining we'd like to wait a bit and see if this is a good fit for you before handing out twins. In both cases permission from the Admins is necessary.
14. No joining with a HAD (Hears All Dragons). If you want a HAD you must be a well established member here, have a sharding awesome bio and ask permission from the Admins. If you have been reading the rules please pm the word HAD to HG. We would like there to only be one HAD. Once this one is created HADs will not be accepted at all.
15. Do not steal characters, ideas or artwork from anyone here. Not only is it immoral but its completely unnecessary. Most people will gladly share things with others if asked and given credit.
16. All Candidates can (and in some cases will) be mauled at Hatchings. We reserve the right to do so without permission. This makes for a more exciting and surprising Hatching. If you don't want to risk it, don't make a Candidate. It is considered rude to ask that another person's Candidate be mauled. Please do not pm the Gold players for this to happen. It will result in your own characters being injured.
17. There is no character limit on this site. That being said, we may ask you not to make more characters should you have a large number of characters that are not frequently being posted. If after a time these characters are active we will then allow another character to be created.
