Trelia was dressed in her customary peasant white shirt that went mid-length to her thigh and a pair of black pants as she walked a worn path around the weyr lake. She saw a rock nearby and quick look around proved that no one else was around. The land had gone into spring and she could see a few dragons we're already swimming. Her heart ached as she watched the dragons because she was envious of their riders because they got to have that bond. It took everything inside of her to get up everyday and do chores while watching others with their dragons especially the most recent group of weyrlings. In her opinion a few of them we're not cut out to be dragonriders. She put her feet in the water as a chill went up her back and she stopped. Her desire to have her feet in the water made her forget the cold.
The young woman was very hardheaded and would do as she pleased. She'd taken of late to coming to lessons when she pleased because the young woman felt that she'd already paid the price necessary to stand on the sands. Trelia was very serious in the fact that she didn't believe that the newest queen transfer would deliver them a golden egg. A young queen that had yet to rise would not give them a gold egg the first time around and it would probably be a small clutch. If she wanted to stand on the sands for a queen then she had another whole turn to wait.
Her jeaslouly especially of the young woman that had impressed the queen was apparent. It should have been her queen and sighed because she would remain strong for the chance to stand for one. Trelia fantasized about what it would be like to impress a gold and nothing else would do for the young woman. She would not take demands or orders from others except those she found her equal. Her equal that was hard to find because the girls seemed to jump everytime the candidate master said something. While she laid down on the rock propping herself up with her arms and watched a few bronzes play in the water. She only saw metallic dragons as the equals because they lead the weyr however she respected all dragons for the point that the lesser colors actually flamed. If only the new queen would rise soon and they'd get on with it. A sudden sound caught her attention as she turned to see who might have snuck up behind her.

T'mar was walking around the lake deep in thought. It wasn't often the blue rider was meloncolly. So many things had happened in such a short period of time it gave one much to think about. He knew he needed to make himself busy, that would help things considerably. He looked up to check on the dozing Petroth, he should go do the promised swim, that should lift his spirits too.
Blue Petroth was sunning near the shore, waiting for his to come swim with him. He knew that when his rider got in one of these rare moods that all he could do was wait and suggest a swim. That usually brought 'his out of it.
He was about to turn around when he came across a girl laying on a rock, he didn't mean to intrude so he started to turn when his foot snagged on a twig making more noise then he had intended. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, I was just going when I tripped." He spoke politely.

Trelia was almost asleep in part to the sun on her face that had warmed her when she heard a noise and jerked her head up to reveal a boy with brown hair. She raised a eyebrow before it dawned on her that this was one of the weyrlings that had recently impressed. The young woman didn't reallly have hard feelings towards him because if she remebered right the boy had impressed a blue dragon. Her desire for anything except a gold dragon didn't exist and she simply said, "No, problem,". While she kept herself propped up by her arms and then just looked out at the lake. "Out for a walk," asked Trelia as she looked at the man not really paying attention yet trying to make conversation?
She hadn't really talked to any of the weyrlings as they we're busy with their new dragons and she had her own chores to do. Trelia had watched them with envy yet mostly it was the gold that she wanted. The young woman sighed then waited for him to respond as she wipped the sweat off her brow. When she sat up more and got a better look she realized that it just wasn't any one blue weyrling. This one boy was the rider of one of the twin blue dragonets that had hatched as she smiled at that fact. A rare gift indeed was dragon twins and couldn't remember ever hearing about it before. She was sure that she'd never heard of gold dragonet twins and just waited for a response to her question.

"Yes but I promised Petroth a swim. I really didn't mean to intrude." T'mar answered turning red. He really didn't know how to talk to girls. They were a complex set of emotions he just didn't understand. He turned again to head back to his waiting Blue. This time taking care to avoid the root. "Would you like to join us?" He asked noticing she was sweating.

Trelia listened to the young man and saw that he had turned an adorable red coloring. He was actually bashful talking to her and she had to smile at this fact. It was not a common fact for a guy to even be the least bit shy in talking to her. She had to wonder sometimes if guys even found her attractive just because she wasn't blonde and blue eyed. When he asked her the question and a smile played across her lips because it sounded like a good idea. "Thank you, I'd love to," said Trelia hoping that his blue dragon would not mind the extra person. She got along with some dragons and others well they didn't seem to click with her.
She was the type of person that either people liked at first or they never seemed to really get along. Trelia sort of tailed along behind because she wanted them to go into the water first in case the dragonet took offense to her being here. The young woman was always on her guard around dragons because she feared that might not like her. A few dragons had just not paid her any attention and others would actually flick their tails at her. The sweat was pouring out on her brow as she walked because it was odvious that she was very tired and hot. When she reached the edge of the water and waited for the two of them to go in first. A cool swim would be the perfect thing to get her going on this hot day and would make her feel better.

Petroth watched as his rider and the girl walked toward him. In fact he was watching her very carefully, something about the girl interested him. He started humming and his eyes swirrled slowly in pleasure. When they reached the dark blue twin, he dipped his head politely in the young woman's direction. I like her mine, she will make a good rider. he spoke happily to his rider.
T'mar was still a bit red faced as they walked down to the water with Trelia. He just didn't understand girls. He wasn't very comfortable around them either. Most of them don't like him or consider him to strange to talk to. They were at the waters edge when he tugged his hair out from under his shirt to unbraid it when Petroth spoke to him.
Stopping in his tracks, T'mar looked back and forth between his blue and the girl beside him. "What did you say?" T'mar asked, totally forgetting to mindspeak. Shaking his head he continued to unbraid his waist length hair. "I'm sorry, Petroth said he thinks you would make a good rider. He's never done that before." T'mar stammered turning redder then before.
You never asked me before, I can always tell who would make a good rider from one that won't. Greetings Treila. I would be pleased to swim with you. Petroth finished with a snort that ruffled his riders hair, and stretching a wing toward the girl to hold on to if she wished.
T'mar stood there with his mouth open, Petroth hardly spoke to anyone other then himself or G'off. He gave up, grinning at Treila; "Petroth offers you a wing to keep you from falling. He also says he likes you." He finished giving his dark blue a mock glare. "Shall we?" He nodded at the water, not waiting he shook out his hair then dove in. It sure was hot out here. Silly dragon.

Trelia continued to follow him down to the water then saw that he turned around to her and gave her one of the greatest compliments that she'd ever heard. "Thank you," said Trelia upon hearing that someone actually thought that she'd make a good rider. "It's a true honor coming from a dragon," said Trelia as she slipped out of her pants and shirt into her under clothes then put a foot in the water. The cool water gave her the chills at first as she said, "Your a beautiful blue dragon and greeting to you beautiful Petroth," said Trelia as she took her down from it's braid and fell down to her shoulders. When she swam out to the dragon and hesitantly put a hand on it's wing then the other one. "Thank you," said Trelia as she smiled at the dragon and the blue rider.
She had started to feel better because this was a nice distraction from her own thoughts. Trelia smiled as she felt the water start to cool her down and she looked over at T'mar. The young woman had never paid close attention to the rider before and hadn't been around him since he'd impressed his dragon. When she breathed in looking up at the blue sky and truly was starting to enjoy this day. "I think blue dragons are truly exceptional with their blue coloring how beautiful," said Trelia as she looked over at the dragon. She truly envied those that had impressed and had that relationship because she wanted that same thing one day. Her thoughts went to the newest queen that had arrived and had heard that this dragon was proven at healthy clutches. A proven queen that was truly a honor and would hopefully improve her chances of impressing a dragon one day. A great thing would be for two clutches to be on the sands at the same time and maybe have those legendary clutches of old.

Petroth was pleased with Trelia' complement. He lowered his head down to her shoulder and carefully nuzzled her. He made sure he was very careful. He blew out a small puff of air, just enough to move her hair a bit.
She's nice Tmarmine. Want to hold on to the other wing, I'll swim us out a bit, but not to far. Petroth spoke then extended the other wing waiting for his to take hold before moving. He was enjoying this extra human contact. He wouldn't do it very often, but this time was nice.
"Petroth says thank you for the compliment" T'mar added on his own. I've never seen him nuzzle anyone else before. Different isn't it?" he offered to Trelia as he moved over to the other wing. He wants to take us for a swim, just hang on, he won't hurt you or go very far. At least that is what he said. T'mar finished still grinning.
He liked the hard headed girl too. He wouldn't tell her that. But he did. Sometimes he wished he was a bit more outgoing like that. Maybe in time he would be. For now, it was good to just relax and enjoy the swim.

Trelia smiled as the blue dragon nuzzled her and then watched as T'mar took hold of the other wing. She smiled at him saying, "It's very different a good sort of different," and just let her enjoy the swim. The young woman hadn't counted on such a charming afternoon and had to smile at the pair of them. A special bond that she envied and then felt the water cool her down. "His a very good swimmer," aid Trelia as she felt the cool water around her and it seemed to wash her worries away. The two of them we're more like a part of four from what she'd heard because the twins seemed to almost be like one.
A interesting rumor was that they telepathically talked to one another then she asked, "So is it true that you can communicate with his twin brother and vice versa,?" Trelia was curious because it was a rare thing except for the rare girl of hearing all dragons for a person not that dragon's rider to hear that dragon's thoughts. The woman was curious about the oddity of the pair because they we're so different anyway because twins didn't happen in every clutch. It had been a joy to watch the twins and smiled as the water seemed to just engulf them all.

Thank you for the tow around Pet, this is very nice. Are you sure you wouldn't rather be swimming on your own? T'mar asked the blue totally relaxing for the first time sense the attack. You are welcome my T'mar, I am enjoying myself very much. And I believe the girl is also relaxing and enjoying herself. I do not wish to stop until you are both ready. We should do this more often The dark blue trumpted in shear pleasure.
"Yes, it is true. Not only do I hear Danuth, but G'off as well if the conditions are right and I'm paying attention. It was very odd at first, especially sense it was a hold less that Danuth chose. But I like G'off. He isn't at all what I thought he would be like. He was very helpful when I was down with my arm hurt." T'mar answered truthfully.
"Do you really only want to impress a Gold? Would you be happy with any other color?" He asked. He remembered seeing her on the sands, and if he remembered right, she didn't look too happy being passed up this time for the Gold. He decided that he really wanted to know her answer, if Pet thought she would make a good rider, and she had been searched, then she would make a good rider. T'mar hoped she wouldn't give up just because a Gold may not ever choose her.

Trelia was enjoying just floating in the water as she heard him explain about the connection between the twin dragons and their riders. "Yeah, it does sound it's hopeful however all those voices in your head," said Trelia as she didn't envy him in that situation. She smiled at him as they we're still gliding on the water and then she heard interesting question raised to her. The young woman hadn't realized that she had been that transparent that day on the sands. "Wow, I was that transparent huh," asked Trelia with a sad smile as she looked at him and remembered the awful moment? She had to think on how she would answer this question as she said, "Well, I want to be honest,".
A deep breath escaped her lips as she said, "I think that the dragon chooses the rider and while in the end we don't have a choice because of the overwhelming joy,". Trelia knew she sounded like one of those stuck up girls that would only want one thing and nothing else would do. "I want to ride gold honestly and I can wait besides with two queens on the sands right now there's a good chance that more queens will be laid," said Trelia as she wanted to be honest with him. She'd come to value other dragons more as she'd been here yet she wanted a gold badly. In any event she noticed that the newest queen hatchling was too sweet tempered for her she wanted one with some passion. "I know my gold will come one day just have to be patient," said Trelia as she looked over at him with a smile on her face.

Relaxing a bit more as Petroth kept his word and didn't go to far out. T'mar was quiet for the moment. Sensing his riders feelings, the midnight blue Dragon nuzzled 'his' before turning to look at Trelia. Trelia, any Dragon would be proud to choose you. Mine is afraid you may quit trying to stand if perhaps a Gold chooses another. I hope you do not quit. You will make a good rider! Petroth finished by giving the girl another nuzzle.
T'mar was shocked, his lifemate didn't usually speak much to anyone other then himself and G'off. But to speak more then once, and, to show affection left him with his mouth wide open and nothing to say. He wondered what Danuth would think of that.

Trelia had to smile as she heard the voice of Petroth in her heard and listened carefully as they seemed to float. When she looked at them and it almost seemed as if T'mar was very shocked because his mouth seemed agape. "Your going to catch a bug that way," said Trelia as she referred to T'mar mouth hanging open. She had to snicker at him then said, "I thank you both for your concern however I always go after the best and I want a gold dragon,". It was true that she sometimes seemed abrasive yet it was only because she was determined in what she wanted.
She wouldn't go for any other color and no other dragon would want her because it was true that the dragons could see into a potential riders heart. If even a green dragon looked into her heart then it would see that she didn't want any other color and wouldn't chose her. "I thank you for your advice it's just like everyone else in my life I only want the best," said Trelia as she smiled at him. He was a sweet guy and defiantly could make a good friend. The young woman always wanted the best and he was the best in friends. "Thank you for a lovely swim it was just what I needed," said Trelia as she gave her best smiled to him in an attempt just to make him blush again.

T'mar snapped his mouth shut with an audible click. "Y...you...your welcome, our pleasure" he stammered. He wasn't very versed in the ways of girls, but when she smiled at him like that he blushed bright red clear to the roots of his hair. It didn't help that Petroth was laughing at him both silently and the funny sound he made when he found something amusing.
Looking up at the dark blues, he shook his head. I would be happy to take her swimming anytime mine, oh, you can can come too if you want. Petroth teased his rider. The laughing blue turned back toward the shore, he felt they had gone out far enough and it was time to turn back before they got too far from shore. Geeze thanks for that anyway. T'mar snapped back, not as mad as he was trying to sound.
"Petroth says he would be glad to take you swimming any time, oh, I can come along too," T'mar told Trelia with a smile. He was relaxing for the first time. He was glad she wasn't giving up. And he hoped she would get her Golden Queen. He found her fun and was enjoying her company. He sure hoped they would become friends, good friends too.

Trelia smiled as they stopped and seemed to go to the shoreline. She stepped onto the shore and then rung her hair out as she listened to her new friends. "Thank you I had fun too," said Trelia with a smile at him and then had a good idea. "I was going to get some food want to come with me," asked Trelia as she looked up at him? The young man easily had about five inches on her and she had to look up at him. It was easy to mess with him and she found it cute that he'd blush just by giving him one of those looks. Her day had definatley turned out to be better then she'd thought it would be.
The young woman couldn't wait for one of the two queens to rise and give them a gold dragon. Her heart could almost figure that it would be Gold Issarith to give them a gold because she'd been a proven gold layer in the past or at least from what she'd heart. "I could go for some company," said Trelia as she wanted to finish out the evening with a good meal because her stomach was growling. "Thank you kind blue for a ride and your very beautiful," said Trelia as she looked at him for a moment and then back at the beautiful blue dragon. A genuine smile now played across her lips and she waited for the blue rider's reply.
