The Weyrleader requests your presence.
Blinking, S’nuo stopped untying his boot laces and retied them instead before standing up straight. Drills had just finished and the man was covered in sweat. It had seemed like a perfectly grand idea to join Malith in the lake, but it seemed that the thought would need to be put on a temporary hold. Malith’s harness lay on the ground nearby as the blue dipped into the water. Pulling his shirt off the harness where he had laid it, the bluerider pulled the shirt back over his head as well. After all, Wingleader or Weyrleader, A’lez was still his superior and he might as well be somewhat presentable.
Shirt pulled back on, he tucked it into his pants as he glanced around. The large bronze that was A’lez’s no longer held his rider or his own harness. I’m guessing he’s in his weyr? Seems like a safe guess to me. Neinoth did not mention where.
Picking up the harness so he could not be disciplined for leaving it laying unwatched at the lake, S’nuo turned down his blue’s offer for a ride there. It’s not a far walk, his weyr is much lower than our own. The blue was fine with that, going back to cooling off in the water. Walking up the flight of stairs to the Weyrleader’s ledge, S’nuo looked in and hesitated a moment before letting himself in, harness slung over his shoulder and all.
“A’lez? Malith said you wanted to see me?”

SUPERWAVE!! Neinoth cried, before impacting the lake waters at a gallop, leaping at the last minute to land with a super-splash in the water, fountaning water in all directions as he started paddling out into the deeper areas. Snickering to himself audibly, he tilted downward and disappeared under the water once it was deep enough. Clearly, despite drills today, Neinoth had pleeeenty of energy left.
A'lez had actually still been in the bowl, and watched with curiosity as S'nuo walked off in a total other direction, harness slung over his shoulder. It didn't take him but a moment to figure out what had happened; Neinoth had obscured him from sight apparently, and now the bluerider was headed to his weyr. Okay. He could work with that. Pulling his jacket off before he overheated, A'lez headed after S'nuo, walking with long strides to catch up to the harness-laden rider. Reaching the door just as S'nuo poked his head in it, he lifted the harness from him. "Let me help you with that." He said, shoving the door open the rest of the way with his other hand.
As seemed to be the theory behind Bronzeriders, A'lez was a tall, broad man and he easily managed the smaller harness with just one hand, draping it over a trunk to let it rest there as he walked into the weyr proper. Dragging a chair out from under the table, he spun it a quarter turn before leaving it to rest as he walked on past, a clear invitation for S'nou to sit if he so desired it. A'lez tossed his jacket to land haphazardly on the edge of his furs. "I won't keep you long." He promised, stepping over to where he had a pitcher and some mugs. Pouring some juice into each, he stepped back over and offered a drink to S'nou and then helped himself to his own, just as heated as any of the other Riders were.
A cool drink of juice was always welcome for cooling off again.
"Do you have much free time, S'nou?" A'lez asked, beginning with a simple intro as he helped himself to one of the other chairs.

Finding himself suddenly relieved of his harness, S’nuo blinked at his leader for a moment before following the man inside. Watching him drop his jacket off on his bed before finding juice for the both of them, S’nuo accepted the seat that was silently offered him. Leaning back in the chair as he slung one arm over the back of it, he began to wonder what this was all about. Hearing his question about free time, the blue rider hesitated a moment before giving his answer. This wasn’t a trick question was it?
“I… have enough, Sir. Plenty of time to spend with my sister’s children. You will hear no complaints from me.” Studying the bronze rider, he picked up the offered glass of cold juice and took a deep drink from it. “Have there been complaints about what I do in my free time?” he asked finally.
The huge wave that drifted over the lake after Neinoth’s entrance pushed the little blue right back out of the water. Giving a huff, he turned around and bounced back toward the now hectic water. Excuse me! Excuse me! he said, bouncing between larger dragons in attempt to get back to the deeper water where he would be able to submerge himself once again. He was not upset that the bronze had unintentionally pushed him right out of the lake, but he was determined to get back into it.
He could not think of any other reason to have brought up his free personal time – unless someone had given A’lez the idea that he, himself had been complaining he didn’t have enough – which was defiantly not the case. He made use of every minute of free time he got, and there was plenty of it. He had never complained about what he was given.

S'nou's answer was hesitant at first, and in retrospect A'lez could well guess why. It was an unusual question sprung out of no where, he supposed. He smiled though, at the answer he got. He was glad that despite the question S'nou was relaxed enough to sit comfortably. "Good, good. And no, there haven't been any complaints at all." He answered with a light chuckle. He was always glad to hear when any rider had time for family. It was a rare thing, for a rider, and all the more special for it.
It did almost make him not want to ask what he was going to ask, for fear of ruining that for the man. But ... he had no one else he could turn to at the moment. "As you know, we have eggs upon our sands again. Fortunately. We also have candidates for those eggs. But we have no candidate master. I was hoping I could talk you into the job. I really don't know anyone more qualified." A'lez finished, well aware of just how much time S'nou had spent with the various Masters. It was almost as good as being trained to be one ... even though that really didn't happen most of the time.
Neinoth stilled in the water, watching the water ripples overhead as he hung suspended in the deep water. Finally, with a slight flick of his huge wings, he started a slow, floating ascent back to the surface of the lake. Just as Malith was coming back into the lake, unfortunately, and trying to dive as well. Neinoth's bulk was there in the way and headed right back up.
Surfacing, Neinoth raised his head and snorted the water out of his nose in a big spray, and then turned to look at the much smaller blue that was now sprawled out across his own broad back, suspended out of the water. Well hello there. he commented, highly amused. Of course, he hadn't made any deliberate attempts to avoid the blue in the water either. So it was partly his fault.

Listening to the man’s words, S’nuo thought at first he had not heard the Weyrleader correctly. Perhaps what he had meant to say was that he was looking for S’nuo’s input on who should be the candidate master. Yeah, that had to have been what A’lez was trying to say. Running through the list of names in his head, he thought about it before listing off a few of the older riders.
“Well I know there is a brown rider in NPC Wing who is very organized. I bet he would be well qualified. Or even the WeyrHarper’s boy, Bluerider I’tin. He’d have experience running classes from his father I would think. Didn’t Arlin step in for a class after our last candidate master retired on short notice?”
Feeling confident in his answer, S’nuo lifted up the cup of juice. Yes, I’tin would be a great choice in his opinion and surely it was his opinion the bronze rider before him sought.
Ooofh. I need to make a point of swimming after all of the larger dragons are done, I think. The little blue replied to the bronze as he carefully lifted his head from his wingleaders back. While there was no doubt in his mind that the bronze’s hide would be far thicker than his own, Malith still had claws as sharp as any dragons. Careful to keep them up off his leader’s hide, he wondered how on earth is was going to get down from here without poking the bronze.
Uhm… Can you put me down? Please? If dragons could blush, Malith would have been doing so right at that moment. How embarrassing to need to ask a bronze to put him down?! Malith was perfectly ready to hide in that moment. He was at least thankful that the bronze sounded more amused than annoyed.

A'lez listened to what S'nuo had to say, somewhat confused about where the bluerider was going with his voiced thoughts. Eventually he figured out what S'nuo was doing, and grinned a bit. He didn't know if this was his saying no, or if he seriously thought he was only being asked his opinion on the matter.
"You know, if you don't want the job all you have to do is say no. You don't have to get so long winded on me. I get enough of that from D'seus don't you think?" A'lez answered with a chuckle. He gestured at the man with a hand. "You do raise good points. But I think I would still prefer you over them. Stepping in for a class here or there doesn't measure up to the experience you have on the matter."
Indeed not.
Neinoth rumbled in amusement, and dipped downward again, ducking below the surface of the lake once more and depositing the blue in the water again. Cruising away, he curled in a circle in the deepest part of the lake for a moment, watching the glittering sunlight streaking down through the water. Maybe, maybe not. It wouldn't help you much if someone was determined to prank you anyway, now would it? Neinoth answered, willing to admit just a little to not being opposed to messing with the smaller brother. It was all in good fun, mind.
He was also grateful that he hadn't just gathered up and leapt off. For that would likely have left Neinoth scarred after having to heal. Which would never do, if he was going to keep his lady love's attention!

S’nuo nearly choked on his juice as he heard A’lez’s next words, only confirming that what he was sure he had misheard or A’lez has previously misspoken had in fact been correct. Sputtering a moment, he wiped his lower lip on the back of his hand. “You mean you want ME to be the candidate master?” he said, blinking.
Of course, as a search rider, S’nuo did have the experience in working with the candidates to get them to stand the first time, knowing which ones stood a better chance was second nature after so many turns. He had learned the right words to say, and had even learned the right words to say to those who wanted to come, but would not have had such good odds. Not to mention his extra turns as a Weyrling, working as an assistant because of his age. He had stood in and helped with both classes. Of course, that was turns ago.
Taking a slower, more careful sip of his juice to ease his own throat, S’nuo realized he couldn’t really deny that he, himself could do the job. He had assisted with it before and he was a searchrider. Of course that would mean handing off his searchriding knots and focusing on the current candidates solely verses future ones. Time management had never been a problem for him.
“Well, A’lez…” he said slowly before returning a smile to his Wingleader and Weyrleader. “When do I begin? And I assume I still need to report to wingdrills with thread coming?” He silently hoped so, fighting thread was something S’nuo did not want to miss even if his little blue did not have the stamina for threadfall that the larger dragons had. He would work out a way to still hold classes, keep the candidates busy and still make it for drills and threadfall when they finally rose to meet it. A few changes would need to be made to the candidates current schedual.
“Oh… does that mean I’ll be moving down to the candidate master’s quarters too?” That last question was a side thought and while it would be nice to have a weyr more easily accessible to the children he loved to have over, it would mean a lot of work to move his 30 turns worth of possessions on top of it all.

A'lez smiled slightly. "Can you really think of anyone better suited for the job?" He asked, even as he could already see S'nuo was seriously considering it, playing with his puzzle pieces in his head to see how it would fit.
And! So it was, for the next thing the bluerider said gave all that away. When did he begin? "Well, as soon as you can manage, I would assume. But yes, I'd like you to stay on top of your Rider duties as well as you can manage. A missed drill here or there isn't going to affect much, you're a sharding fine Rider, S'nuo.
"Moving?" A'lez asked with a chuckle. "Yes, the office is yours to do with as you see fit. But I really can't see you fitting Malith in the quarters. Feel free to keep your weyr. Unless you really really want to live over there." He shrugged slightly. "Up to you."
