Lyunne and Quintre stood nervously amongst the other candidates watching with huge eyes as the eggs hatched. The dragons hummed and the atmosphere was tense but excited. The young woman could hardly believe she was here. The dragons were hatching, she was actually standing here, watching, a candidate. She wanted to scream and shout her encouagement, but she kept cool and calm, her eyes on the green. She was stunning, she couldnt wait to see what hers would be like. She was certain she would impress, she had too. She wanted a dragon of her own so badly. She wanted to fly, to feel the wind in her face as she soared through the sky.
The sands were warm and she grinned broadly, this was the most exciting things she had ever seen. She wanted to jump for joy but she contained her excitement. She wanted to see what colours would hatch next...
Quintre was standing towards the rear of the group, his eyes focused on the eyes. He was as excited as Lyunne, but being a Holder's son he was hiding his emotions, showing his 'game' face as his father called it. He was so nervous he could hardly breath, the hatching was so....well he couldnt think of a word to describe it. It was exciting, nervous racking, awesome. He loved the three hatchlings. The Brown and blue were amazing. The green was rather nice, but he only had eyes for the Blue and Brown. He would love a Brown, he didnt think he would be deserving of a Bronze, but a brown or even a blue would make him more than a Holder's son, he would be a dragon rider.
His eyes returned to watching the eggs, trying to guess which would hatch next and what colors they would reveal. It was a great, amazing and very emotional day. Something he was extremely proud to be part of...

With all the commotion started by the blue who Impressed to a girl, the next egg was nearly done hatching by the time all eyes had moved to it. The Twisting Dreams Egg was already broken by countless fractures running across the surface, dancing among the swirling colors of the shell. Suddenly, pieces of the egg began to flake off, broken from within by measured, careful movements. Unlike it’s clutchmates, this dragonet did not fight to scrabbled out of his shell, but rather applied pressure methodically until large chunks of egg just began falling off. With the Twisting Dreams Egg so weakened, the hatchling within merely stretched mightily, effectively pulling the entire shell apart with a few pieces sticking to his hide. A collective gasp was heard as this new dragonet revealed himself, many looking upon him with awe. It was a blue hide, certainly, but unlike one they had ever seen. If Shivath was beautiful and lovely, then this blue was nothing less than extraordinarily handsome. Although he was quite the normal size for his color, his hide was nothing less than dazzling. Rich hues chased across his body, dancing along his hide in too many different shades to name. As he moved, colors shifted and rippled along his skin, creating a strange effect of almost shimmering quality. Standing easily, the hatchling flared his wings and stretched out his body, muscles bunching silkily under that remarkable hide. Striding forward, the blue exhibited a slow, easy gait that was rarely seen in hatchlings, his movements more like a feline’s than a dragon’s. He padded easily with a graceful step, rather than stumbling about. Moving smoothly towards the awaiting candidates, the blue passed each one carefully, certain that he did not injure anybody in his search for His. While the blue moved easily among the candidates, two more eggs began shaking violently, cracks spreading along the different surfaces. The Wind and Dawn Egg shuddered constantly, strange, starburst-like crevices appearing along the shell. An unhurried shifting could be heard from within, as if the dragonet was taking it’s time hatching. Meanwhile, the Law of War Egg also began rocking in earnest, large breaks appearing along the dull white-grey of the surface. Even as these two moved, the blue hatchling was nearing the edge of the male candidates, yet he did not seem worried or frustrated in the least. Finally, he paused, then glanced upward in satisfaction. I knew I would find you, ZeridechMine. The soft, calm voice entered the boy’s mind as the blue gazed at his new bonded, stepping forward to gently pushed his nose against the boy’s hand. Your Morpheunth has come for you. Do not be sad, I am here.Name: Morpheunth (More-phay-unth) Impressed To: Zeridech Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Description: There only a single thing that is average about this blue, and that is his size. Unremarkable in build or stature, there is nothing to set him apart from his brothers in this aspect. A typical height and body, Morpheunth is neither stronger nor more agile than any standard blue. However, the mundane aspects of this dragon end there. Upon that average, unremarkable build is a brilliant coloring that sets him apart instantly. A mottled variation of shades play across his hide in a dazzling dance of shifting hues, ranging from midnight blue all the way to cerulean. His wingsails are a vivid, rich sapphire, and his talons are a light, sky-blue in color. His face is dominated by a patch of lighter hue, so his eyes appear large and expressive. Personality: With coloring that is loud and explosive, Morpheunth could have not possess a more contradictory personality to his appearance. Though his hide is flashy, the dragon himself is calm and easy going, tending to get excited over absolutely nothing. Cool even in the most extreme of circumstances, there are few things on Pern that could ever get him riled up. Though not exactly a flirt, this composed blue tends to be rather successful with the ladies, for he is mild and suave. There will likely never be a dragon that could ever ruffle his feathers. No matter what insult or excitement is thrown his way, Morpheunth will respond with a serene voice and even temper. Seeming almost wistful at times, this blue is a very thoughtful dragon and tends to lose himself in his deep, philosophical contemplations occasionally. Really, he just thinks too much. Because of this, many will call him a daydreamer, and he may even allow his mind to wander off during drills. His wingleader is not going to be pleased with his tendency of his, but his bonded will be able to help with this. His rider will find Morpheunth to be a wonderful mindmate, for his presence will be a soothing one at all times. This blue will also be particularly sensitive to his chosen’s plight, and will readily bespeak anyone Zeridech requests of him. From the Weyrwoman all the way to the last drudge, he will never refuse to talk to anyone else if His asks. Because of this, Morpheunth will become extremely intelligent and sensitive to others, and will make one of the best Searchdragons to be found one day. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Clutch: Gold Aeriath's 4th by Bronze Zorometh Hatching Order: 4th, From The Twisting Dreams EggText Color: 00BBF9Mind Voice: Jim Caviezel www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDJ7TRCU7bM While the blue Impressed, the Wind and Dawn Egg began to rock even more, great shudders dancing across the wispy, pale colors of the shell. The starburst breaks suddenly collapsed inward, and a sinuous paw could be seen tearing at the new crevices made by the fractures. Clearly green, the dragonet worked quickly at her prison, both paws grasping at the breaks to push them outward until she had broken enough of her shell to step out. She did not fall, she did not stumble, and she did not sit once her ordeal was done. Stalking forward, her movements fluid and graceful, here was another dragonet that caused a murmuring to begin. At first, it was hard to see on her wet hide, but as the remarkably graceful dragonet stepped regally onto the sands, the glows flashed against her body and revealed small, thread-like tendrils of gold running through her green coloration. Many riders were baffled by this. After all, who had ever heard of a green with gold in her hide? Not to mention her size. The green was positively massive for her color, easily standing as tall as some blues they had seen. Yet, despite her great size, she moved with an unearthly poise. Tossing her head once, the green ignored the male candidates and prowled toward the females, every movement refined and smooth. While the odd green stepped toward the female candidates, the Law of War Egg suddenly gave a mighty sound, and practically half the shell fell off to reveal the deep, deep blue hide within. Startled by the sudden loss of shell, the dragonet lost his balance, creeling as he tumbled forward rather unceremoniously. Shaking his head as he finally stopped rolling, the blue snorted angrily, stamping his paws while he got to his feet with a huff. Flicking his tail dismissively at his egg, as if to say, ‘I still beat you’, the hatchling started forward, making a quick beeline for the males. Even as he did, the gold-threaded-green moved past several girls, her whirling eyes moving over them gently. They were all very nice, indeed, but not quite meant for her. Tsking softly to herself, the green walked very primly over to a particular girl, getting as little sand on her paws as possible. Here we are, Galeda my dear. Allow me to introduce myself. I am your Eoth. We must become better acquainted of course, but I should like to be fed soon, if it isn’t too much of a bother. The lovely, rich voice was rather proper as it echoed in the girl’s mind, far more suited to a gold than a green. Name: Eoth (Eh-oth) Impressed To: Galeda Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Description: Born the largest green in her clutch, Eoth can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the smaller blues easily. However, despite her massive size, this dragon is still beautiful, with excellent conformation and smooth muscles. Her dished face appears very intelligent, and she walks with a graceful air, even as a hatchling. With an unusual coloration, it almost seems as if nature intended to make Eoth a gold. A rich, bright green covers most of her hide without variation, but it is her markings that give this dragon her beauty. Dancing across her body are small, thread-like strands of gold covering her hide in varying patterns, small but there. They are a deep, shimmering gold, and catch the light quite often as this green moves. They flash in the sun like lightening, and lend Eoth a very unusual, interesting appearance indeed. Her claws are a light, frosty green. Personality: A mild dragon, Eoth is an exceedingly likable green. First and foremost, she is rather kind, and is a very soothing presence. She can find the good in every situation, and the good in every heart. No matter how badly someone feels, the graceful Eoth can bring new light to the circumstances. Always soft-spoken and calm, this green is known for her gentle personality, and will hardly ever find an enemy. However, she is also likely to be excluded from any sort of play or nonsense, since most of the dragons see her as more of a matronly spirit. A lady in every respect, Eoth always exhibits grace and discretion. She is quite proper in speech, and constantly holds herself with poise. Rather elegant, this green reminds one more of a gold, for she is very much a lady in body and spirit. Never given to idle flirtations, Eoth feels they are improper and expects to be courted with respect and honor by any who wish to stay at her side. Her favorite activities are walking by the lake and admiring lovely things. Unlike many dragons, this green would prefer to be bathed quickly and dried off, rather than wallow in the waters. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Clutch: Gold Aeriath's 4th by Bronze Zorometh Hatching Order: 5th, From The Wind and Dawn EggText Color: 1AB81AMind Voice: Gemma Arterton www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXmicz3KPfI&feature=channel (about :30 in) While Eoth quickly made her choice with no drama, the dark-hued blue was not so subtle. Stalking down the line of candidates, the dragonet glared at each of the boys in turn, as if daring them to even touch him. Bah, he was sixth to hatch! He had meant to be first, of course, but even second or third would have been acceptable. But sixth?! Utterly absurd that so many hatched before him. Paws landing heavily on the sands as he moved, the blue brushed against the minds of those before him, quite unsatisfied with them all, that is, until…ah yes, there he was, His. Stomping over to the boy, the dragonet snorted again, hooking one claw in the bottom of his white Impression robe. Finally, JerezenMine. Have you any idea how long I looked for you? Now there are already others eating, and we are late! Come now, we must go before all the good food is taken. With that, the blue started to tug demandingly upon the robe before abruptly shaking his head. Oh, and you may call me Tyreth. That is, if you feed me soon. I might find someone else if you don’t. Of course, he was teasing. Mostly. Name: Tyreth (Tie-reth) Impressed To: Jerezen Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Description: This dragon is a deep blue color that gives him an almost velvety appearance. Below average in size he makes up for this with a well proportioned body. He has a good sized wingspan and a nice sized tail. Nothing about him seems out of place which is how it should be. His eyes are knowing and wise as if he has perceived things others may have missed. He is the same coloring throughout his body except his eye ridges which are a hue lighter, giving him an eyebrow type look. www.fabricandfreight.com/images/dark%20blue%20velvet.jpgPersonality: There are always good and bad sides to a person or a dragon. Where Tyreth is intelligent and perceptive he is also highly competitive and somewhat demanding. Odd qualities in a blue dragon. He prefers to think of himself as a strong and competent dragon. He's outgoing and strong of mind and will. Also unlike many dragons, Tyreth understands there are consequences to every action. In his way he does pay attention to the rules, what can and can not be done. He enjoys living life in luxury so his rider should not be surprised if he dislikes the Barracks and wants a weyr of his own. His rider will find that Tyreth would rather be on time for everything, be at every lesson and never wants to miss a bath, oiling or feeding. The negative consequences to missing any of these things make him nervous. This need to obey authority makes him an ideal wingrider and member of the Weyr. He spends little time making friends with other dragons so the few that do become friends with him will likely be his friends for life. The same goes for flying greens. He's more likely to want to fly one or two greens in particular rather than have a desire to chase all greens. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Clutch: Gold Aeriath's 4th by Bronze Zorometh Hatching Order: 6th, From The Law of War EggText Color: 000E3DMind Voice: Russell Crowe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TimYPaXH__w Raelwyn sighed in relief as yet another dragonet hatched without mishap. It seemed that these younglings were more interested in food and Impression than hurting candidates. And their coloring! Each new hatchling was more amazing than she had ever thought, strange hides and deep colors adorning them all in remarkable ways. Leaning against D’seus, the goldrider smiled brightly. “Aye, I should have known it wouldn’t be.” She agreed, then nodded. “The blue is rather handsome, and this one too, as was the first green. And have you ever seen such a thing as a green with gold in her hide?” The Weyrwoman shook her head. Remarkable indeed.

Ziridech held his breath as the next egg began to crack. Slowly and steadily, it cracked it's shell evenly first so that it had no issues in getting out. Not only did it seem like a rather smart idea, it had the added bonus of making a rather lovely pattern dance across the surface of the egg. Large chunks were falling, but with one mighty stretch the rest of the egg simply came apart. It was quite a sight. And so was the dragonet within! He was breathtaking, to say the least. He practically seemed to shift colors as his small muscles moved. Zir was entirely enthralled as he just sat there and calmly stretched the kinks out of his wings and body. His gait was much more steady than the other hatchlings' had been, and Zir couldn't have taken his eyes off of him if he tried. Even as the other two eggs began rocking, there was nowhere else he could look. There was just something about the shimmering colors and graceful movement. And he seemed so gentle, too. Calm, like the feelings Ziridech could remember coming from his egg, decorated with the little bits of light in the darkness. He felt a smile growing on his face just watching the blue. Soon he'd probably Impress His and Zir would watch them go with a smile. He'd be happy for whoever got this one, despite his personal disappointment. But the dragon was still walking, ever so slowly reaching almost the end of the line of the male Candidates. Would this one take a girl too, then? But no, he was stopping now, and when he looked up at Ziridech with those whirling eyes... I knew I would find you, ZiridechMine, was heard as the dragonet gently nosed his hand. Your Morpheunth has come for you. Do not be sad; I am here. And with that, Zir fell to his knees, returning that gaze in wonder. Him. It had chosen him. This amazing, beautiful, lovely creature wanted him. He could already feel the wash of warmth and love and emotion brushing over him, closing his eyes for only a moment to savor it before opening them - needing to open them - to look upon his Morpheunth again. He could feel tears had welled up in his eyes and were starting to fall now, but he could care less. He did his best to tell Morpheunth that he wasn't sad at all, especially not now - now that he had his other half. His mindmate. His perfect partner. His completion. He drew the dragon into a hug, getting a gentle nuzzle to his head in return. His thoughts were far too scattered to figure out how to speak mentally to his dragon just yet, but he thought hard about getting him food and received a pleased hum in return and an infusion of happy feelings that weren't his own. If he could have lifted the dragonet and carried him to the area where the food was, he would have. Unfortunately, that wasn't exactly possible, and he reluctantly released his hold and stood. The other eggs were entirely forgotten in his state of awe, too focused on Morpheunth. As they walked side by side, it was indeed the dragon that led them to their destination, as Zir's eyes didn't stray long enough to effectively guide them. And through it all, he kept his fingers lightly brushing against his perfect one. .o0O0o. Meri was among those who gasped at the beautiful blue who emerged, tracking his slow progression with reverent eyes. She let out an excited squeak and clapped happily when she realized it had Impressed her friend, then quickly flushed and covered her mouth. Thankfully, the other people around here were more interested in other things than her embarrassing noise. But she was so happy for Zir - he really deserved a dragon. A companion who wouldn't need his voice to understand him completely. And now the next egg was hatching, taking its time and not rushing. A lovely green stepped gracefully out of it, and Meri smiled. Such poise grace, even despite being much larger than the last green - more the size of the blues. She was coming this way, and had such lovely golden marks along her hide. Meri wasn't certain if that was normal or not, but it was certainly beautiful. She too paid no heed to Meri, instead going right to another girl. Galeda? She thought that was her name. She was one of the Northerners, but she had seemed nice the few times they'd seen one another in the barracks. Meri managed to look back just in time to see the next blue hatch. She barely held in a giggle (aided by a hand placed over her mouth) at first the tumble and then the dismissive tailflick. He was cute. And the way he stamped forward... She was really trying not to giggle. He was supposed to be intimidating, after all - and probably one day would be. Then he hooked a claw in one of the Northern boys' robes and practically started trying to drag him. She could feel tears from holding in her laughter, but she didn't think the dragonet would much appreciate it. Or perhaps his new bonded. Finally she tamped it down enough so that she was merely biting her lip and grinning as they walked off.

Watching in almost sickening anticipation, Jerezen's gaze never flickered from the first Blue that hatched or the Green that followed him. Jerezen knew something was about to happen. He didn't know what. He didn't even know how he knew, but he did. Although he hardly ever believed in whatever he couldn't see or touch, including premonitions, Jerezen felt himself moving a little closer to to eggs. He was to far back. What if his partner hatched and couldn't find him?
Just as Jerezen pushed through the two boys that were blocking his way from a being properly visible from whatever dragonet that might have him, Jerezen was able to see a deep colored Blue tumble head over tail across the Sands. With a small noise of a mixture of concern and amusement, Jerezen straightened himself up and coughed. He sincerely hoped the boys beside him hadn't heard. It would appear that both hatchling and candidate had made fools of themselves.
It was only a sharp and demanding tug that brought Jerezen back to the present. The dark Blue was standing at his feet and looking up at his new partner with an impatient expression.
Finally, JerezenMine. Have you any idea how long I looked for you? Now there are already others eating, and we are late! Come now, we must go before all the good food is taken.
That said, the Blue seemed to loose all patience for waiting and tugged hard at Jerezen's robe in a demanding way. It would appear that the Blue intended on dragging Jerezen all the way to the bloody meat that awaited them without first introducing himself. With a huff, Jerezen pulled his robe back.
"And you are?"
The Blue stopped and began to shake it's head.
Oh, and you may call me Tyreth. That is, if you feed me soon. I might find someone else if you don’t.
Jerezen paused at that comment before whipping past the Blue hatchling with a haughty expression.
"Holding you up am I? Well then, I shall proceed to leap to your beck and call for I am a meager vassal for you will, easily tossed aside and replaced."
Tyreth and Jerezen stared at each other for a long tense moment before they both snorted at the exact same time. It was as if they had both passed some sort of test set up by the other, and now their respect and love would be all the stronger for it. With a gesture of Jerezen's arm and a bow from Tyreth, both stepped forward in one fluid and synchronized movement and moved towards the food.

After the abomination of a blue impressed to that girl, another blue Hatched. Many people gasped at the sight of him. Much like the first green that hatched this dragon had many blues swirling about his hide. It was like watching water when he moved. Stranger and stranger these dragonets became. He was a little upset that none of them were even taking an interest. The blue on the Sands walked past him without so much as a look. Well fine, he had larger dragons to impress. He knew he was better than some silly old blue anyway. As the eggs continued to convulse, the next out of her shell was a green. The Hatchlings each presented a new shocking color. This green with her gold patches was strange indeed. He smiled as a Lord Holder's daughter impressed. Another one for the Northerners! Galeda was a soft spoken lady, which was refreshing when dealing with all the strong willed women on the trip. She was one woman who deserved to impress. His opinion was backed up by the fact that the girls he didn't like had not yet impressed. Which brought him back to his own lack of dragon. The next to hatch, a dark blue who looked like he was made of velvet, stalked towards the boys. One by one he turned them down. He briefly felt the blue's stare but the dragon moved on to... Jerezen. He would remember to congratulate the harper later. Feeling quite happy with himself he wondered if the Weyrleaders anticipated them all impressing. Maybe it was part of their plan. He didn't really want to think about the trouble they could all be in now. Hatchings were supposed to be joyous occasions. Even if there was something dark behind the reason for him being here, he should try to enjoy this. The dragonets all seemed eager for food the moment they Impressed. Jerezen's was actually half dragging him toward where the Weyrling Master and various drudges had buckets of meat for the dragonets to eat. ~~~~~ While the blue and his new female rider walked to the feed buckets, three more eggs looked close to bursting. The first, a blue with swirling hues of blue throughout his hide came toward the boy candidates. Well you really couldn't expect a blue to come toward the girls. More than once in one Hatching would be completely ridiculous! She watched as he chose one of the Weyr born boys...She couldn't really remember much about him, other than he was the silent type. As the next egg became more volatile, she felt her breath catch in her throat. Her hand was holding her sister's even more tightly. A green! Not just a green, she had the loveliest little gold splashes mixed in with the green coloring. She was maybe a little envious as the Northern girl impressed the green. There were still many eggs to come and each one seemed lovelier than the last. Something about all the beautiful dragonets finding their mates so easily made her even more enraptured by each consequtive dragonet. Vaylee watched as the sixth to hatch, a dark, richly colored blue, stormed over to the male candidates. The young men nearby seemed to be no good as he finally found his rider. Another of the Northerners. He was someone she had yet to meet but no doubt would make a fine rider. If he would pay attention to the dear little thing. Jeeze. Didn't he know how hungry the little ones were when they Hatched? ~~~~~ The small Candidate was still standing a little in front of the older, much taller boys. He didn't want to miss anything! Each dragon that impressed was a happy story. He was not envious of those who did find their life mates. Orisyn was intrigued greatly by the brilliantly colored dragons and even more about their choices. He did not know many of the Northerners and those he knew of he did not know well. This would be remedied as soon as his dragon hatched and impressed to him. Although the fourth dragon to hatch was alluring in color he felt the blue knew what sort of person he wanted all along. Ziridech was a good person and would make a fine rider, if one were to ask him. Which he noted, they were not. Dragons always chose the right person for them. There was no doubt that those who impressed today were meant to. He really did hope that they all took advantage of this as the start of the rest of their lives. He was watching with a bemused expression on his face, the green that Hatched was an interesting color as the gold mixed in with the green. A green who wanted to be Gold? That would make a good Harper song. Maybe he should go find the Weyr Harper later? HAHA. The young boy held back a laugh at the thought of him telling the Weyr Harper to write a song. Not that he wouldn't try! The young Northern girl led the green to the feeding area as the next blue was coming toward the boys. The blue seemed more than a bit determined. Something about the blue did put him off. Though his coloring was lovely and made one want to reach out and touch him. He stayed a little further back when the blue came close. For the obvious reasons, like... he'd already been knocked over once and only six dragons had hatched. Once the blue was safely past him he moved forward a little again. ~~~~~ D'seus grinned, “Never but they are so interestingly colored.” He did think that they were an odd group. Maybe their personalities would put him at ease. The Weyrleader got the distinct feeling that this clutch might become the bane of his existence. It would be hard enough with people of different backgrounds having to work together. Then there was the fact they'd be split in half. Faranth forbid they be separated from their friends! It would probably be better if he didn't think about that now. He returned to being amiable. This was a good day. “Maybe the Gold will have green patches and make things fair.” He said jokingly.

Solera Solera was tired, and she was very happy to finally be getting into bed. She'd been helping in the Kitchens, since she'd helped out at her home hold mostly in the Kitchens. She had plenty of experience in there. She fell into her bed, not even bothering to change her clothes. She didn't want to get up for anything. Come now, Refuge, and see my children hatch! Candidates, prove yourselves worthy to stand on my sands!Solera groaned and rolled out of her bed. Why couldn't the eggs wait until a decent hour to hatch? She eased off her bed and changed into the white robe she'd been given in preparation of the eggs hatching. And now, it was time. She felt a bit skittish. Excitement bubbling up in her at being able to experience such a wonderful thing. She stood with the other female Candidates. She didn't feel that she would be as lucky as some of them. She crossed her fingers and hid them behind her back. She was a bit skeptical about standing for the eggs, but she welcomed the experience and the boasting rights, should she ever make it back home to tell about this. Her eyes nearly bugged out of her head at seeing the first dragonets, a green, a brown, and a blue. They were so cute, and adorable! How could anyone say that these creatures were dangerous? But then she saw the talons, and gulped. Those things, dried, could rip flesh. She didn't know if she liked where her thoughts were going now. She looked back at the eggs in time to see a very light, icy blue hatching hatch, and then another green, and yet another blue. She thought the green looked adorable. Though she had to keep telling herself not to look at their talons. Where they already dried? Did it take long for the talons to dry? She shook her head and turned her eyes to the rest of the clutch. Anaryn Anaryn couldn't sleep. She'd been in the creche most of the day, holding and watching her daughter. She couldn't bring herself to just let anyone take Arayn away from her. She had finally been told to go to bed. She'd went after she'd yawned a few times before her eyes had started to droop. She nodded at one of the Nannies and left, barely able to find her own bed. She'd been sleeping for a while. Come now, Refuge, and see my children hatch! Candidates, prove yourselves worthy to stand on my sands! She blinked her eyes. Where.... ? Oh yes. Refuge Weyr. She looked around, seeing the others getting into their robes. She slowly got to her feet and changed into the white robe she'd been given. She didn't cover her yawnings, as she felt tired. Which she thought a few of the others might be feeling as well. She shuffled along with the others to the Hatching Grounds and found a place to stand. She yawned again, for the hundredth time, but that turned into a gasp as first three eggs hatched. A green, A brown, and a blue, she thought they looked adorable. She didn't know what to make of them, though, as they obviously found theirs. She couldn't help but wonder if any of the eggs would hold a dragonet for her. She hadn't really touched any of the eggs at the Touching, fearful that she might harm the shells or the babies inside. Though she'd doubted that she'd harm them, though. She watched as three more eggs hatched. This time a light blue, reminded her of ice, and a pretty vivid green, and then a handsome dark blue. She sighed as they moved around and finally found theirs. She looked back at the eggs, wondering and hoping that one would find her worthy of such a strong bond. But if she bonded, she'd have to foster Arayn. Well, if she impressed, she would absolutely foster her daughter to a person she felt she could trust.

As the velvety blue and his new rider left the sands, the Northern Father Egg began to move rather vigorously, having been rocking for the past few minutes now. However, it was currently shaking in earnest, the dragonet within clearly growing impatient to be out and find His. Strong strikes could be heard, the hatchling inside clearly beating at the shell mercilessly, and soon both a foot and a front paw burst through the egg. Deep, silky brown could be seen upon the hide, a rather rich color. Again, the dragonet struck the shell with all four of his feet, using his mighty strength, and this time he broke through, shattering the front of his shell with ease. Having been lying upon his back in order to use his limbs to beat the shell, the brown flailed his paws for a moment, trying to figure out how to get up. When that didn’t work, the hatchling let a soft cry, a whine tearing through his throat. He could not roll over, as his shell still presented a barrier on either side of him, and the only option he had was…up. While the brown lay flat on his back and began tearing at the air with his feet, the Gentle Healing Egg had been moving a bit slowly when compared to it’s clutchmates. However, as the brown whined lowly, looking around for help, the Gentle Healing Egg fairly lurched forward with what seemed to be renewed vigor, a strong, fast tapping heard from within. With such powerful shudders, the egg was quickly unbalanced, and fell forward, landing with a dull thud against the sands. Aeriath snorted at that, lowering her great head to eye the egg with concern. As she did, a piece of the shell came flying off, popping her on the nose sharply. Snorting with surprise, the queen reared her head back, a flash of red appearing her whirling regard for just a moment before disappearing. From the small hole in the Gentle Healing Egg, a soft green nose poked through and chirped softly, as if apologizing to her mother. Rumbling lowly, Aeriath shook her head before returning to her previous position. Well, the egg certainly wasn’t hurt, that she knew. With the excitement of the Northern Father Brown and the Gentle Healing Green, it was becoming harder and harder for everyone to keep up with what was happening. For even then, yet another egg began showing signs of hatching, the tell-tell cracks running delicately along the shell. This was one that the candidates should certainly remember. The Bitter Vengeance Egg gave one great shudder, and more breaks chased along the shell, though no sounds could be heard from the egg just yet. However, the Gentle Healing Egg was falling to pieces now, the green pushing against the shell with her back and whipping her tail around to create fractures that would make it easier to break. Methodical in her work, the green quickly broke apart a good three fourths of her egg before stepping away from the ruined shell, the pale blue pieces littering the floor. The dragonet was clearly a small one for her color, and actually the smallest to hatch so far. Speckles covered her back and legs, and with her great conformations, her small size did not seem so bad. Letting out a gentle trill, she pranced over to the brown who still flailed in his shell, his whines becoming louder and louder. Coiling her tail around and presenting it to her brother, she waited for him to grasp it with his paws before stepping forward quickly, her muscles bunching as she helped her brother to his feet. Rather amusing, that sight, considering how very small she was in comparison. For now, it was quite easy to see the brown was larger than average for his color, and heavily muscled to boot. Crooning his appreciation, the brown dipped his head in acknowledgement of his green sister, who merely trumpeted and danced off, making for the line of girls without even pausing to consider the boys. Why hello ladies. She cooed to herself, mentally laughing at her game. Moving past them easily, she came before whom she had chosen before even helping her brown brother from his shell. My lovely RaziaMine. The green laughed, the words cascading from her mind like cool water. Ah, I apologize for being late, but your Sulisanth couldn’t just leave her brother flat on his back, could she? No, no. But I am hungry now, RaziaMine, and so let’s eat. There are plenty of handsome males to see afterward.Name: Sulisanth (Sool-iss-anth) Impressed To: Razia Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Description: A rather small green, Sulisanth is quite below average in size for her color. In fact, she is one of the tiniest dragons to hatch. Despite this, her body is built well, and she will be attractive enough regardless of her diminutive size. With good conformations, it is easy to overlook her small stature. The only thing one may notice is her slightly large wings, but she will likely grow into them as she matures. A light, sage green covers her body, mostly unbroken aside from a dusting of small spots on her upper neck and back. Those same small flecks cover her legs, except in a darker hue. Sulisanth’s claws are a dark, emerald green, along with her neckridges. Personality: Attractive and interesting, this green is not exactly a social butterfly, but she is quite fascinating. Rather clever, Sulisanth constantly has something witty or coy to say, and as such, she attracts many friends and admirers. She can make her rider and other dragons laugh with her quick remarks, and her slightly mysterious and alluring personality captivate males. Sulisanth does enjoy these attentions, but at the same time, she is not one who has to be in the spotlight at all times. There are occasions this green would rather be alone with her rider, even if they happen rarely. Instead of vivacious, she has a poised sense of humor and attractiveness. Composed as well, this green is quite the cool dragon, always keeping her calm demeanor. Every witty comment is given with a poised voice and in a nonchalant manner, causing her to seem all that much more alluring. Because of this, however, Sulisanth will never stand out amidst her classmates, but it will not bother her. This green is not driven in the slightest when it comes to excelling, as she would rather be flirting coolly with another dragon or making her rider laugh with her sharp remarks. Despite her clever wit, Sulis is a gentle personality, and would never say anything to hurt someone, either it be a human or a dragon. There isn’t a single mean bone in her body. Moving forward carefully, his heavily-muscled limbs coiling with every step, the hatchling exhibited a sense of smooth danger that could not be seen when he was flailing unhappily in his shell. Though he moved slowly and easily, never once offering to hurt any of the candidates while he strode past them, there was a sense of power beneath his calm front, as if he could spring forth in a moment and defend His with a vicious capability. There was a settled effortlessness about this one, for he knew that he was tough and able and would one day grow to be great. Prowling forward with that calm assurance, the brown stopped before his chosen and shoved his head into the boy’s hand. Odinth has chosen you, QuintreMine. He rumbled, his voice deep and smooth, complimenting his powerful appearance. Our heartbeats are one, now, bondbrother.Name: Odinth (Oh-dinth) Impressed To: Quintre Color: Brown Age: Newly Hatched Description: A larger than average brown, Odinth is a sturdy looking sort. He is well muscled and seems to be in excellent health. He has the proper proportions with a slightly large wingspan that would go mostly unnoticed by people. His hide is a chocolate brown color with lighter dappling under his belly. Compared to the other browns in the clutch, Odinth seems a bit stockier. His claws are the same color as his hide which often gleams with health. www.overthetoplinen.com/admin/productimg/jst_chocolate_brown120.jpgPersonality: Odinth is a complex sort of dragon. He has a patronly way about him where he takes other dragons under his wing. He often feels compelled to guide others. He is as strong as he is determined and will not stop until he achieves what he wants. Even as a Hatchling he seems to be very wise and capable. Loyalty to his and his wingmates is also very strong in him. Odinth prefers to be optimistic about events in life, although sometimes he too has trouble finding the silver lining. He has a dry sense of humor though he finds a lot of situations his rider gets into hilarious. When push comes to shove you want Odin on your side. He is a good friend, excellent mentor and wise enough to make good decisions. Loyalty like his is not soon lost or forgotten. If he is your friend he will be for life. A hard worker, he has the capability of being a great leader and someday holding rank. Odinth is not a chatty dragon except in small groups or with his rider. He is much more likely to make a quick remark whether good or bad than carry on long conversations. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. With it’s slow progress, a lull began in the hatching, and many people began to shift impatiently. As if sensing their emotions, the Magic Mastery Egg quickly began rocking, moving powerfully from side and side and clearly determined to hatch very soon. As if realizing that it now had competition, the Bitter Vengeance Egg gave a mighty lurch and a frantic scrabbling could be heard, the dragonet inside obviously impatient to be out. With both eggs now cracking and shuddering, it seemed as if both shells broke at once, the colorful and lovely Magic Mastery Egg in shattered pieces, mingling brightly with the harsh shades of the Bitter Vengeance shards. From the Magic Mastery Egg, a large blue stood, a bright, vivid coloring to his hide. Muscular and brawny, the dragonet possessed the limbs of a smith, huge and strong. Snorting, be began to step forward when the Bitter Vengeance hatchling leaped before him, and many gasped at this one. A dragonet about the size of a small blue it was, but with a hide so dark it seemed black. Mutterings began, but as the fluids dried, it could finally be seen that it was not black at all, but a deep, deep green. A rather large one for her color, she was, built lithe and lovely. Lowering her head, she glared at her bright blue brother, eyes whirling quickly. I started to hatch first, brother! She snapped, then whirled primly. You can wait for me to find Mine before you! With a huff, the green stomped off, stalking down the line of boys with long, stiff steps. Shaking his head, the blue stared after his sister with exasperation, rather too stunned to reply. What a she-demon! Coming before her chosen boy, the green snaked her tail around his wrist, pulling demandingly and forcing him to look at her. See here, NevarreMine, that stupid blue just jumped in front of me like some barbarian! As if he was better than your Nemesyth! What a dimglow. Now come and feed me before some other idiot offends me.Name: Nemesyth (Nem-eh-sith) Impressed To: Nevarre Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Description: Easily one of the darkest greens at the Weyr if not the darkest, when Nemesyth hatched she looked nearly black. Her claws are actually black though when her hide began to dry it was apparent that she was a very deep and dark green color. When she suns her hide looks like it is black with a green sheen instead of green with a black sheen. Her dark coloring sets her apart as does being on of the larger greens in her clutch. Eoth and Morriganth are slightly larger than herself though its almost unnoticeable the difference in size between the three of them. Despite being a large green she is more of a lithe build than a muscular stout one. She was built for agility and it shows throughout her dark body. Personality: Nemesyth has a few rules. One Nemesyth is always right. Two, if in the event Nemesyth is wrong you must pretend that she is right. Three, Nemesyth is better. While vanity is something quite common in greens, Nemesyth's sort of vanity is not about her appearance (she already knows she is gorgeous.). It is more an intellectual vanity. She cares a great deal about her own opinions and thinks that others should take those opinions quite seriously. Where her opinions are meant to be heard, she is not all that keen on listening to others. Witty and sarcastic, Nem is quite the brat at times. She uses her quick wit to say some rather appalling things to her rider and other dragons. This she feels she can get away with (and usually does). Nemesyth has few friends as she can be aloof and cold. Some days she is more cold than she is aloof, saying exactly what she thinks no matter how it hurts others. Nemesyth would rather just stay above all conversation as if it is not worth her valuable time. A vengeful dragon, Nem does not take being insulted well. You may just find her flying straight into you on purpose during practice should you make her angry. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Once the first egg cracked open, the Hatching officially began. Though Galeda smiled and politely waved over at her fellow Northerners, he attention was stolen by the ones that hatched. Her heart just beated faster and faster in excitement, despite the fact a 'lucky color' had not hatched first. She still did not understand that whole tibit--was it not good that one had hatched at all? She clapped as the first Impressions were made, but winced inwardly as a couple of her fellow candidates got bumped or swiped at by a tail. Goodness, these little ones were a bit feisty, weren't they? As the Impressions continued, Galeda almost forgot that she was there to Impress, too.She did wonder, though, when a blue Impressed to a female. That was different! All the same, she was polite, clapping and smiling for her.
Galeda's eyes fell on one hatchling...a green with what appeared to be golden markings. The way she walked was graceful and delicate, even though she was trying to keep her paws as free of excessive sand as possible...and she looked like a queen. And she was big for a green! The girl found herself smiling, only to feel her breath catch in her very chest as the voice came to play in her surprised mind. Here we are, Galeda my dear. Allow me to introduce myself. I am your Eoth. We must become better acquainted of course, but I should like to be fed soon, if it isn’t too much of a bother.[/color]
The rainbow eyes of Impression made the world around them fade to practically nothing. Though Galeda's jaw longed to drop, it did not. That wouldn't have looked very refined, after all. Though the girl automatically kept herself from doing various things that would not seem at all ladylike, the tumble of emotions she felt made her want to fall over. But after a few struggling moments, she stood straighter, the warmest and most loving smile on her pretty lips.
"Of course my darling, that is perfectly understandable. Come, and we will get you fed," she said, reaching down an almost cautious hand to touch the dragon's head. Eoth seemed amused as she briefly met the touch halfway, then walked primly at her companion's side as they left the sands, trying her best to not let too much sand get on her paws while trying to not look silly doing it.

Quintre's excitement was almsot more than he could bear. The new hatchlings were really stunning, their colors so wonderful, the hatchlings rippled with health and he was totally amazed by them. The greens had an elegance of their own, graceful, almost feline in movement. The Blues were something else again, and the browns, he loved the browns, there was something about them that just grip at him. They did have the responsibility of the bronzes, but they had plenty of responsibility. When the Norther Father Egg hatched the brown that appeared was gorgoeus. Quintre's eyes widened, he watched to see who his lucky rider would be. He wasnt expecting the voice that sounded in his mind..
Odinth has chosen you, QuintreMine. He rumbled, his voice deep and smooth, complimenting his powerful appearance. heartbeats are one, now, bondbrother.
Quin just starred at him, his eyes wide, Me, you want me? he asked the magnificent brown who stood looking at him.
Odinth chuckled in that way dragons had, Yes, I want you Q'tremine, you are the one worthy to be mine, now stop arguing and find me food, my tummy is aching! The deep voice rumbled and Q'tre grinned, he was someone, he was a dragonrider. He was a brown dragon rider, Q'tre of Brown Odinth. It had a good ring he thought as he lead Odinth to find something to fill his belly.
Lyunne was grinning broadly. The hatching was just wonderful. She was so glad to see that Quintre got a Brown. She clapped wildly, cheering joyously. But her cheers turned to a loud laugh as she saw Nev impress. To a green who looked as if she was going to be a handful. Lyunne couldnt help but chuckle, he was going to ahve a fun time with her. She bit her lip to stop laughing, but she couldnt help it. She would watch that pairing with eagerness.
The hatchlings were just so cute, she loved them all. Their choice of riders at times seemed strange, but dragons knew who they wanted. She returned to watching the eggs, guessing which egg might contain hers. Her little green flitter Emerald was watching, she was so excited. The two of them stood waiting, anticipation burning them both..

The problem with this hatching was the number of girls standing. Queen egg or not, there were far too many. Maybe the Search Riders were looking for pretty faces rather than actual Candidates. Wouldn't be the first time, nor the last he should think. The brown that hatched next, ended up on his back and unable to get up. No dragon of his would ever be that clumsy! While most onlookers seemed greatly concerned for the brown's position. No one rushed to his aid. That was until his green sister hatched and helped him out. Nevarre's earlier point was proven as that dimglow, Razia impressed to the green that Hatched. Shortly after Quintre impressed a brown which was wonderful as it added to his tally of Northerners on dragons. He did not want to brag that the Northern Candidates were doing so well... okay maybe he did want to brag but no one seemed to care about the difference between northerners and southerners. It was hard to say after all the effort the dragonets put in to Hatch, which one came out next. Like most people he saw the blue coming toward the boys first and then the dark green. She was determined to be first it seemed and the other dragonet seemed slightly stunned. Whatever she had told him, it had worked. She went on her way down the male Candidates. Before he realized what had happened, the green snaked her tail around his wrist, pulling demandingly and forcing him to look at her. See here, NevarreMine, that stupid blue just jumped in front of me like some barbarian! As if he was better than your Nemesyth! What a dimglow. Now come and feed me before some other idiot offends me.He was in some sort of shock at first, staring at the dragon. Nevarre knew he should be upset. He should be telling her that he was waiting for his Bronze and she wasn't for him. The green's eyes were on his and he knew there was nothing to say. He loved her from that first moment and she loved him. There was nothing he could do. She might not be a Bronze but she was damn well better than any dragon there. “Well given the circumstances, you did the right thing, Nemesyth.” He said scratchin her above her eye ridge. “Its hard not to be offended around some of those people.” He may have hinted at Razia and her green but he did not mention names. Nemesyth was more than happy to have something to eat. ~~~~~ Her blue eyes went directly to the next hatchling out of its egg. What a lovely brown. She thought with a smile. Knowing full well that women did not impress to browns. Vaylee was concerned though that he was unable to get himself onto his feet. When the green helped him she smiled warmly. What a nice thing to do for someone else. She was glad that so many of the dragons in the clutch so far were so good natured and lovely. If she were a dragon she'd want to be from this clutch. Even as the lull fell on the Sands, the two eggs that finally seemed to be making progress revealed and blue and a green. The green was quite bossy and seemed to tell the blue to back off while she chose. Instead of heading toward the girls like the other greens, she went straight for the boys. Impressing to one of the Northerner's. Not a bad looking one either. Of course she'd never heard of a bad looking dragon rider. ~~~~~ Carefree Orisyn was not as nervous as the next couple of eggs Hatched. He was pleased with the choices thus far, though he could not help but wonder who his dragon would be. As the green and brown impressed, he couldn't help but think of how many of each color there was. Did it matter to him what he impressed? Not really. As the brown and green walked off to find food with their life mates, there was a period where it seemed nothing was moving. The one egg that was, seemed to be having technical difficulties. So it was that another more boisterous egg began to hatch. Whether the green or blue hatched first was hard to say. He'd guess it was as close to simultaneous as possible. The green seemed to be more the type to take charge of her situation. She made certain she found her life mate first. Leaving the blue looking a little dumbfounded. It was an interesting Hatching, no doubt about that. He grinned. All the dragonets were healthy with gleaming hides.

Razia had watched the hatching eagerly. Even with none of the dragons showing any interest in her so far it was hard not to stay excited. She was still a little surprised that a blue had been Impressed to a girl, she had never heard of that happening before, at least not outside of old stories. But it was still such a wonderful thing to see. And that was only in the first few eggs that hatched!
When ever there was a lull in the hatching, Razia would glance at the gold egg. There were no cracks yet and no movements from the large egg but she had to remember that it was still early on in the hatching. With how quickly the dragonets seemed to be finding their new lifemates, they must be able to sense all the candidates from inside their eggs. That was good though, other then a few people getting knocked over, nothing bad had happened yet. Really, the worst anyone could say about this hatching was that a green had hatched first, a green that had been one of the most lovely dragons to be hatched.
A number of the Northerners had impressed so far as well. Razia found that she didn’t mind that too much, Nevarre was still left standing there, and Razia imaged that she could see a sour look crossing his face every time a dragon passed him by for someone better. She almost felt bad that she took such savage pleasure from that. The others she didn’t mind though, they had all seemed nice enough, even those that had whined about chores. And a dragon impressing a Northerner was better then a dragon going Between.
Razia turned to watch as she heard the furious sounds of a dragon trying to break free of an egg. It was hard to miss the shuddering egg and soon a chunk of the shell broke off and a brown foot could be seen. More of the egg broke away, leaving the brown dragon stuck on his back and unable to squirm onto his feet. The poor dragon made a few sad cries as he tried to get to his feet, and Razia couldn’t help but think that the dragon was so adorable as he was stuck helpless on his back. She wasn’t worried about the brown, someone was bound to help it up sooner or later.
But the cries of the brown seemed to cause another egg to start shaking before it tipped over. Razia’s breath caught in her throat as she watched the egg, growing even more worried when the gold Aeriath came to take a look at it. The gold had yet to move during the hatching, even the whimpering brown hadn’t stirred her. Raz let out her breath as a hunk of shell went flying and smacked the gold in the nose before a green muzzle poked through. The whole scene was a bit funny; a brown turtled on his back and trapped in half his shell, the queen dragon getting bopped in the nose, the green nose peaking out to apologize. And there were more eggs starting to hatch too!
The tipped over green finally shattered the pieces of her egg and revealed a tiny, sage green dragon. The green ignored all the candidates and instead went to help up her poor brown brother, offering her tail to him. Soon the brown was up right again, which was surprising since the brown was large, the biggest dragon hatched so far at least. His large size only made the green seem smaller. The brown sat there for a little longer but the green was off, skipping past all the boys and going right to the girls.
Razia looked down as the green stopped in front of her before her laughing voice filled her mind. My lovely RaziaMine. Ah, I apologize for being late, but your Sulisanth couldn’t just leave her brother flat on his back, could she? No, no. But I am hungry now, RaziaMine, and so let’s eat. There are plenty of handsome males to see afterward. Razia couldn’t stop the grin that broke out onto her face and she knelt down to be level with her dragon, ignoring the heat of the sands. “Don’t worry sweetling, It was very kind of you to help out your brother and I’m sure it made a good impression on everyone who saw it.”
Razia stood up and started to walk off the sands to where the food for the dragons was being kept. She glanced back to see what had happened to the brown and noticed that he had Impressed to another Northern boy. She came to a dead stop though as she watched what looked like a black dragon leap out a newly hatched blue. Not a black, another green sister RaziaMine. Razia nodded to show she had heard Sulisanth and continued to watch as this green ignored all the girls and went right to the boys. She stood on her toes so she could see better, trying to figure out who the green was looking for before she saw Nevarre yanked forward by the dragons tail. Razia let out a snort before she started laughing. Oh this was too good. She was sure the arrogant Northerner had been expecting a bronze, this had to be a surprise for him. Razia could tell that Sulisanth was less amused by this and thought she could even hear her dragon’s stomach growl. She felt a bit guilty at making her dragon wait like this and quickly rushed her over to the food, making sure she got plenty to eat but didn’t over do herself.

Beleren clapped and cheered for ever dragon that managed to Impress, cheering louder for the weyrbrats that he knew even if he only knew their name. Only a fraction of the dragons had hatched so far but this had to be one of the more exciting hatchings. Such odd colors on some of these dragons! And a blue Impressing to a female? He was more then happy for Ferlese and thought the reactions of some of the people were quite amusing. Yes it might have been a bit odd that so many females were Impressing but Beleren didn’t mind that, he just hoped his favorite pair of twins Impressed, well so long as he did as well. Having some pretty girls at weyrling training would be good. A bit of a distraction maybe but still good.
And Beleren wasn’t yet worried that he wouldn’t Impress. No bronzes had hatched yet and only two browns so far. And there was still almost thirty eggs left. More eggs started to hatch as Beleren thought all this to himself. A brown who was stuck on his back, then a small green who came and helped him up. Then a blue and… something dark hatched at almost the same time. The dark dragon started to dry off and as it jumped in front of the blue he caught a flash of green in her hide. Ah a very dark green. He leaned forward a bit as he watched the intimidating green stalk past the line of boys before stopping in front of one he didn’t know and yanking the boy forward. What a feisty little thing! He silently wished the new rider luck but didn’t think it would be needed. The boy wore a look of shock on his face at first but then scratching the dragon before leading her off.
Beleren smirked a bit and turned his eyes to the still stunned blue dragon. Hopefully he would feel like he had permission to Impress now that his bossy sister had left the sands. He also looked out over the other eggs, looking to see if more were hatching yet or if they too were too scared to hatch until the green was gone.
~*~*~*~*~
Akroma watched from the stands as dragons started to hatch and bond. A lovely green, a bronzey brown, and a blue first. She was just as surprised when the blue went right for the girls and Impressed to a young woman. She clapped even louder when she recognized the girl as the one that she had met just a little while ago in the Weyrhall. Ferlese, that had been her name. She had seemed like a good kid and Akroma was happy that she had Impressed something. The girl had been terrible at hiding her emotions, her eyes lighting up every time the word dragon was said and going so lifeless when the talk turned to the possibility of not Impressing. If she got the chance she would have to tell the girl congratulations.
As more dragons hatched, Akroma turned her eyes back to the sands, keeping her eyes on her sister. Every time a green would hatch, her heart would flutter as she waited to see if it would go to Razia. How could the candidates stand all this! It was never wreaking just to be watching this! To be down there on the sands, waiting and hoping that one of the dragons would take notice of you would be too much for Akroma. She had faced down some of the wild beasts in the forest with ease but the thought of being so helpless and having to leave everything up to chance was not something the young woman could have done.
A few more greens and blues hatched and Impressed, many of them going to the Northerners. She glanced at the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader, wondering what they thought of all this. Yes she had been just as curious about their interest in letting the children from the North stand but Akroma had never bothered to ask. She was comfortable just knowing her duties, let the leaders take care of their plots and schemes.
Her interest perked though as a small green headed for the girls. Once again her heart was in her throat as she watched it pass by some of the girls before it came to a stop in front of one. Akroma cheered loudly as she recognized the girl the dragon was in front of as her sister. She quickly calmed herself and tried to take a much more neutral view of the rest of the hatching. She couldn’t stop herself from feeling proud of her sister though, and happy that Razia had managed to Impress.

With Horuth full, Dereo was able to watch the hatching better. Neither dragon nor rider showed much emotion as more dragons Impressed. Horuth sat there, his back as straight and as stiff as a dragon’s could be, with Dereo much the same. The young man clapped for everyone, getting slightly more lively for each of his fellow Expedition members Impressed.
Even though there was little being said between them verbally, much was going on between the pair silently. There was no grater truth then the emotions that passed between the two and both of them had been quick to realize just how much the other detested lies. They knew how the other felt about each pair that bonded, agreeing that all were a good match so far. Horuth looked slightly distressed when his brown bother got stuck on his back, his eyes taking on a slight yellow before the brown was helped up. The brown went to one of the little lordlings, though one that Dereo didn’t mind as much as the others.
It was the next two dragons that made Dereo pay more attention. Or more then dark black dragon that turned out to be a green. He could feel the slight tension that colored Horuth’s emotions. Dereo smirked a bit as he watched the green go right to Nevarre, claiming the lordling as her own. He thought it was slightly funny, his dragon now outranked Nevarre, that had to bug the young man. Even Horuth had to comment about this pair. It is a good match but an… intimidating one. She is a sister I would not want to get on the bad side of. Dereo frowned slightly at this, a bit sad that even this wouldn’t make Nevarre any easier to deal with. But the former beastcrafter made sure that he congratulated Nevarre when he came to feed his new green, even if it was likely that the lordling ignored him to focus on his demanding dragon.

Ferlese was to enamored with watching her wonderful Seth eat, she missed some of the Hatchings. She looked up as other dragonets started eating, and she scratched Seth's eye ridges when she saw he'd eaten about as much as was probably good for him.
"Easy now darling, you don't want to hurt yourself."
Seth was extremely indignant at this, but she soothed him quickly. She was just doing what she was told, keeping him from over eating. He was quick to explain that he knew better than to over eat like some dragons, but he nudged her gently, his eyes a lovely whirling blue green. Stroking his head, she kissed his nose, unable to contain the adorable, love and joy she felt at the presence that was now so close to her. She'd wanted to be part of the dragonriders, but all the excitement, all the waiting, all the watching... through everything, how could anything compare to this? She was...complete.
Ferlese nodded to the other dragonets, then blinked in surprise at the green who sneeringly passed up her brother. She was somehow not at all surprised when the dragon chose Nevarre. Insufferable male, she thought in annoyance, and Seth crooned at her.
"Well there is a sure match," she muttered, so only Seth could hear her. She might have been annoyed the Northerner had Impressed at all if she hadn't been so happy. As it was, she was actually a bit amused. She knew Nevarre had been so sure he'd Impress a bronze, lording himself above everyone and scorning at all the females.
*Of course. It's always a sure match.*
Seth sounded smug. She smiled in response and sat back to watch the others making their way to the eating area. She clapped when she recognized Razia. She's Impressed a Green, one that seemed kind and sure of herself. She wondered where Akroma was, the Dragon Guard she'd met the other day. She was surely happy her sister had found a dragon match on the hot sands.
"Congratulations," she exclaimed to Razia when the girl brought her dragon to feed.
Seth informed her that this green sister was far more agreeable than the other one. She was proud he was still awake, she'd heard the little one's just fell asleep as soon as they were as full as they could be.
*But I am not as full as I can be. You stopped me from eating all that I wanted to. I want to see my sisters and brothers Impress with their humans. I will not sleep until later.*
Ferlese beamed. Seth was surely the smartest strongest dragon in all the Weyr, and obviously the most beautiful, with his pointed shading of blue. He crooned at her thoughts, his eyes whirling with contentment and love.

Osaris knew she was late. She heard the call for the candidates, but she wasn't nearby. She had actually been wndering off, probably something she shouldn't have done. When she heard the call, she took off for the weyr. She wanted to impress so badly, and here she was going to be late. She hoped that there would still be some dragons left when she got their.
She charged past shocked people and didn't even stop when she bumped into someone, she simply yelled over her shoulder, "sorry, have a hathing to attend to."
She finally made it to her rom and slipped off her current clothing. She slid the lightweight white candidate robe on. Once it was on, she took off agin for the hatching sands. She was surprised to not see many people, but most of them were probably already at the hatching.
She made it to the sands, but she could barely see the gold. She bowed anyway, but with all the crazyness of the hatching she didn't expect the queen to even notice.
She could see hatchlings eating, and hopeful candidates in front of her, and she wandered how many eggs were left, and if one was left for her. Looking around she notice Dereo had a brown dragon and she smiled. She was glad to see he had a dragon.

Now that his hotheaded green sister had Impressed, the heavily-muscled blue started forward, eyeing her retreating figure with an obviously dubious expression. What was her issue? Snorting again, the dragonet strode forward, slightly ungainly as he tried to adjust to his rather massive body. Tail flicking occasionally in growing annoyance as he passed the line of male candidates, the rather bright blue paused at the end, glancing back with a stomp of his paw. No, no, none of them were His! Swinging his wedge-shaped head towards the line of females, the hatchling hesitated a moment before striding forward, gazing at them intently. Well, here were more capable partners, regardless of what those other silly riders might think. As he approached the girls, the Great Hunt Egg began wobbling slightly, a faint, rhythmic tapping heard from within. Small, silk-thin cracks ran along the shell’s silvery surface, clearly a few moments away from hatching. Nearing the first girl, the bright-hued blue stared at her for a moment before shaking his head and moving on, feeling a deep conviction inside. His bonded was here, somewhere, he could feel it within! Finally, he felt the pull, and the blue gave a loud, deep bugle of triumph, pressing himself against the girl’s legs strongly and eying everyone around her with an obvious warning in his posture. No one messed with His. You should not fear so, SoleraMine. Do you truly think I would ever allow anyone to hurt you, let alone one of my clutchsiblings? Lugth will protect you from now on. And so it was, yet another blue Impressed a female on the sands. A muttering passed through the crowd, but Lugth paid it little mind. He had chosen correctly, whether they liked it or not. Name: Lugth (Loo-th) Impressed To: Solera Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Description: One of the brightest, most attractive blues in Refuge, Lugth has a stunning coloration to his body. A greenish tint to his hide, this dragon has a very lovely sea-blue hue that sets him apart. Lighter striations cover all four of his legs, while a darker shade of blue dusts the edges of his paws and his belly. This same darker shade can also be found on his neckridges. Not only striking in color, Lugth is also a stout dragon, born the largest of his color in the clutch. Rather massive for a blue, he will likely rival smaller browns in size some day. Built like a blacksmith, this dragon possesses a barreled chest and muscular limbs, giving him the endurance to last much longer than his blue brothers in the air. Though not nearly as agile as most of his color, Lugth more than makes up for it in strength and power. Personality: Strong in body, this blue is also holds an unwavering personality. Lugth has deep convictions, and so follows his beliefs no matter what repercussions there may be. Loyalty is his foremost trait, and it is the strongest of his emotions. This blue is does not give his allegiance easily, but once you have it, he will give his life for you. His rider will find Lugth to be a strong and protective dragon, and he will love his bonded unendingly. Whoever Impresses to this blue will be deemed infallible in his eyes, and so his strong loyalty streak will lead the dragon to defend them at all costs. His wingleader will also have his unwavering loyalty. Also born with a sense of justice, Lugth believes that every action should have an equal consequence. Good actions are to be rewarded, and foul actions should be returned likewise. However, this blue does not believe in chaos, and is of the opinion that all disturbances should be brought before the Weyrleaders or Wingleaders to be met with swift and fair justice. With this attitude, he is deemed a ‘stick in the mud’ by many of his siblings, and that may be true. He makes little time for fun and games, and is very work-oriented. Any horseplay will not be tolerated with Lugth around. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Clutch: Gold Aeriath's 4th by Bronze Zorometh Hatching Order: 10th, From The Magic Mastery EggText Color: 17D0C1Mind Voice: Chris Pine www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OYNfa_tLPk&feature=related While the Great Hunt Egg continued to move, the Silent Nature Egg also started rocking, great shudders running down it’s length sporadically. Between the two, it was difficult to tell which would hatch first, but larger, more pronounced cracks began to show upon the soft greens of the Silent Nature Egg. Without much ado at all, chunks began to fall off easily, pushed from within by a whippy tail and lithe paws. The first glance of hide revealed a deep, pleasing blue, a rather attractive shade that certainly caught attention easily. While the blue worked carefully to break the Silent Nature Egg, the Great Hunt Egg suddenly split impossibly fast, two frosty green paws landing on the broken slivers of silvery shell. The green raised her head slowly, gazing about with calm, wise eyes. She glanced over at her blue brother, working hard upon his shell, and dipped her head in greeting before moving on. Clearly larger than average for her color, this green was a striking hue, the glows in the cavern lending her already bright, vivid hide a nearly shining iridescence. This sleek creature moved past the line of male candidates, almost shying away from them, and approached the girls instead. Nodding her head to each girl in turn, the lovely green moved past them all with sure, light steps, hardly making a sound as she moved. There was something ethereal about this dragonet, an otherworldliness that almost leant her the air of an ancient Terran goddess. Her calm aura washed over each candidate she passed, the girls feeling somehow serene and tranquil in the company of this amazing green. Her light steps paused then, and she turned her body to face a certain female, bowing her head deeply with graceful movements. Lady MerielleMine, I am Artemth, your bondsister and lifemate. Let us make this night ours.Name: Artemth (Are-tem-th) Impressed To: Merielle Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Description: A gorgeous hue, Artemth is a frosty, bright green that is both unusual and certainly an eye-catcher. With this light, vivid coloring, she almost seems to have a glowing aura about her. During the day, the suns glints brightly against her hide, but when night falls, the twin moons practically give her a silvery radiance that is breathtaking. There are splattering patches of lighter green on her legs, and her wingsails are nearly white. In size, Artemth is above average for her color, and will grow to be a rather large green. Her proportions are sleek and smooth, almost all perfect except for her wings, which are a bit too big for her body. Her face seems to hold an innocence, and her eyes are soft and gentle. Personality: A rather unusual green, there are many things Artemth does not share with her sisters. There is nothing flirty about this dragon, and she tends to shy away from anyone who tries to do so with her. Perhaps someday she will grow comfortable enough with another dragon to receive his affections willingly, but he will have to gain her trust first. Exuding a sense of purity, this green prefers to spend her time with others of her color rather than male dragons. Artemth will, however, be more than happy to make friends of those blues and browns who have no sexual interest in her. Because she is so innocent, this dragon tends to be a bit on the naïve side. However, if there was ever a warm dragon, Artemth is it. She is loving and caring, and a sympathetic ear to anyone who needs someone to listen. Friendly and inviting, this green will always be the first to ask another why they look so depressed, or try to cheer up a friend that seems down. Rather than seem bubbly, Artemth is more calm and motherly, sweet when needed and good at giving advice. Although, as a result of this gentle temperament, she is a mild dragon and will possibly be walked on by others. Her rider will certainly have to look after her in this aspect, or they will both be taken advantage of. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Finally clean, the dragonet began to approach the boys, only to snort in surprise as the Sovereign Sun Egg suddenly gave a powerful lurch forward, a huge portion of the sunny shell splattering against him and sticking against his hide. Frozen in surprise, the smallish blue abruptly heaved a huge sigh as if resigning himself to further cleaning. Meanwhile, a golden wing flared through the opening of the Sovereign Sun Egg, and a collective gasp was heard within the hatching sands. A queen?! Impossible! A powerful stroke of hind legs destroyed more of the shell, and a rather handsome dragonet appeared, built far too solid for a gold. Instead, he revealed himself to be a rather sunny-hued bronze, clearly taking after his mother in coloring. Humming at her son, Aeriath was pleased to finally see a bronze upon the sands, curious as to who would be worthy of this one. Whirling, the bronze looked sheepishly at his blue brother, chirping off an apology. Humming, the blue shook his head and began cleaning himself once more, as if to say it was no sweat. An accident is an accident, after all. Lifting his head, the bronze scurried away from his brother, approaching the candidates quickly. He practically barreled past them all, knocking Koldyn over and jarring Beleren backwards in his haste to reach His. Coming to stand before his chosen rider, the bronze gave a snort, staring at the boy. Awfully short, aren't you OrisynMine? He asked bluntly, shoving his head against his chosen and almost knocking him off his feet. No matter. Rath will get you toughened up. Let's eat, I'm starved!Name: Rath (Rah-th) Impressed To: Orisyn Color: Bronze Age: Newly Hatched Description: Rath is a sunny hued Bronze, something he must have been given from his mother. Although the color is not truly sunny because of the bronze sheen and discoloring. He would have been a mirror image of his mother otherwise. His body length matches every part of him, perfect in its normal size. He has excellent muscle tone and a more agile body than his clutch mate who was much larger than Rath. The Bronze prides himself on being well cared for with a gleaming hide and on the fact that he looks very much his mother's son. Even his claws are a sunny golden color. Personality: As it goes with most Bronze dragons, Rath is highly confident in his own abilities. He can come of as arrogant in his self assurance. He believes that everything he does is well thought out and fails to see how anything he says or does could come off the wrong way. He is rather oblivious to the thought of hurting other people's feelings. He is blunt and to the point and always tells the truth even if one does not want to hear it. Only his rider understands that the Bronze never means any harm when he says things. Rath is a steady Bronze with strong loyalties to those he befriends. His rider is his life, he would give his own to save him. When he has free time, the Bronze prefers to sun and chat with other dragons than to be involved in silly antics. Rath is not one to goof around as he prefers to follow the order and law of the Weyr. There isn't a soul that will be rude or cruel to on purpose. In fact he generally likes most dragons and people who tend to like him back just as strongly. There is something inside of him people and dragons are drawn into. He is incredibly charismatic. Although he is not about to go up an nudge every human he meets, he finds most to be amiable. None would be as amiable as his own charming, if slightly disheveled looking rider. Where Rath craves order, his rider most decidedly does his best to create a less orderly life around them. The dragon seems to find it all amusing. Despite being Bronze, Rath lacks ambition. He likes his automatic rank but does not have any wish nor care to become a Wingleader or Weyrleader. Both of which would take up too much time on his well planned and busy schedule. That being said Rath is not all that interested in the Golds of Refuge. For one, Golds mean rank which he does not want. Another reason would be that he is much more interested in chasing greens. It could be that neither of those golds are his type though. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Shivers ran down the shell mightily, and the egg shuddered once before sharp talons broke the surface, cracking off small pieces quickly. The small paws were a dark, emerald green, quite clearly seen against the pink and gold shell. Glancing over at the egg, the Silent Nature Blue quickly skittered away, intent on not getting covered in egg goop again. Darting away from his hatching sister, the blue approached the waiting boys, beginning to move down the line slowly. While the blue strode slowly past the candidates, the Wise Beauty Egg was quickly being torn apart from the inside, the emerald dragonet clearly seen now. Trotting away from the ruins of her shell, the rather small, dainty green tossed her head in a feisty manner and curled her tail, staring at the boys dubiously. No male was destined for her, that much was certain! Snorting in a spirited manner, the green trotted over towards the girls, eyeing each one as she moved lithely past. Her tail curled and twirled as she sauntered down the line of females, brushing past their legs. Pausing, the green danced in place, whirling eyes finding Hers among those before her. PhaerieMine! She exclaimed, prancing before the trader with her neck arched. The night is young, and your Freyath is a daughter of the wild. We shall enjoy it!Name: Freyath (Fray-ath) Impressed To: Phaerie Color: Green Age: Newly Hatched Description: A dainty dragon, Freyath is of a slightly smaller size than the average green. Although she will be petite even after maturity, what she lacks in size she makes up for in presence. Despite her stature, this green is a gorgeous dragon who will certainly turn heads. Built lithe and lovely, Freya is a sleek creature with graceful proportions. Her head is elegantly-shaped, and she exudes an air of dignity. Her hide is a rich, deep green, the color of dark emeralds. A slighter darker shade of green can be found on her belly and down the length of her tail, as well as a strikingly-light jade for her wingsails. Freyath’s claws are the same light jade. Personality: With several qualities one would expect from a green, Freyath is energetic and has a heavy sense of vigor about her. An extremely intense personality and a strong presence, it is hard to ignore this dragon when she speaks. She simply enjoys being alive, and so is hardly ever quiet or melancholy. However, she is not lively in the sense of acting overly-excited, but is rather feisty. Freya holds strong beliefs in herself, and she is free-spirited. Flirting dragons will find that this green is a hard one to woo, and she will not simply fall for idle compliments or sweet words. You will have to work hard to earn her respect or her affection. Rather poised, this dragon carries herself with dignity and sense of self-assurance. Freyath knows that one day she will grow into a good wingrider, however because of her size she will not last as long as most of her green sisters. Even though she can be called rather friendly, Freya is not what one would consider ‘open.’ While she will tell her rider absolutely anything and love them unconditionally, other dragons will need to win her over before she truly bonds with them in the sense of camaraderie. This green is not afraid to speak her mind to any dragon, up to even the bronzes, and may get in trouble some day over it. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. It was with slow, padding steps that he approached the boy he had chosen, stepping close to him as he spoke. KalindanMine. He said smoothly, rubbing against the boy's legs affectionately. Your Osirith has been waiting for you. Are you pleased with me? He asked, voice sweet and anxious. Name: Osirith (Oh-sye-rith) Impressed To: Kalindan Color: Blue Age: Newly Hatched Description: Osirith's hide is darker than sky blue by several shades. The color can be called Egyptian blue. He has no markings, no blemishes. The color itself is quite eye opening as it is. Osirith is a smaller blue though not the smallest. He has a lithe body with a long neck and tail and larger wingspan. He will be agile enough when he is older to keep some greens on their toes. His claws are a dark gray and are not all that noticeable. kremer-pigmente.de/shopint/Media/Shop/10060aegyptischblau-m.jpgPersonality: This little blue is a sweet natured sort. He is supportive, caring and laid back. His favorite thing to do is relax by the lake. Nothing ever troubles him as he is a calm and reserved sort of guy. Like his rider he prefers to enjoy the world rather than dwell on the negative. In fact he never lets things get to him and often seems to be at complete peace with the world. He feels very strongly the emotions and thoughts of people so he may make a good Search dragon should his rider notice how sensitive he is. Being sensitive does not make him weak. A good flier and a steady friend, Osirith is gets along well with everyone and everything. When it comes to greens he is a bit more suave than his rider in that he knows how to treat a green however he can be just as wrong about pursuing their interest as his rider is. The blue could never think of hurting anyone. He obeys authority in all instances which shows great understanding of the way the Weyr ranks work. Osirith would be mortified if his rider did something to offend someone of higher rank especially a Goldrider. He is neither lazy nor hard working but somewhere in the middle. Osirith will do what it takes to be average or a little above average but is by no means ambitious. History: This is to be filled in at the time of the Hatching. Solera and Lugth Now that his hotheaded green sister had Impressed, the heavily-muscled blue started forward, eyeing her retreating figure with an obviously dubious expression. What was her issue? She watched him as she seemed to be waiting for the green to impress, or do something. Her eyes followed the movements of the green before turning to follow the blue. She watched him go to the boys. But a few moments later, the blue came to the girls! Another blue to find his among them? Solera had heard that that was very rare for a male dragonet to impress to a female. And then, there was a voice in her mind. She gasped, shocked. She looked around, trying to find the source, until she felt something against her legs. She looked down and her eyes nearly bugged out of her head! "Lugth!" She knelt down beside the blue and wrapped her arms around his neck. He was such a beautiful blue. She couldn't take her eyes off of him. She could feel her stomach growl, and she blushed. "I bet that was you!" Of course it was. Now, that we have figured that out. I require food. He looked pointedly at her. "Oh, I'm sorry!" She gasped and then looked around, but spotted where the others had went with their dragonets. "I think we go that way, Lugth." She pointed to the others. She reached down and ran her left hand over the blue's head. She couldn't keep her hands off of his hide. She was sure that she would wake up from this dream and he would disappear. She felt a bit of pain on her leg and yelped. "Ouch!" She looked down at Lugth. I am no dream, SoleraMine.
