Osaris loved the weyr, but she missed her runners. Even as she wandered around looking for runners shewas watching the dragons with awe in her face. She ouldn't help it, they were just so new to her. The huge creature flew in the sky and some sat on a ledge sunning. In the distance she could see a dragon suddenly come into existance. She was told that they went in and out of some place called "between".
So far she had searched the lower caverns, and now she was in the weyrbowl, still searching for where the runner's stable. She wandered if she should have brought her partner from the expedition along with her on this search. He might also want to find the runner's stable.
Looking around at the lush Southern land, Osaris felt a pange of home sickness. Her home had barren mountains and hills around it with fields hidden in the folds of valleys. Her home was the home of her runner, and at this time she might be escaping into the hills with her runner simply to go out and enjoy the world.
Her parents had chosen her for this, and she would uphold her role. She was even getting a chance to impress a dragon! The southern continent was beautiful in its own way, and overall she couldn't really complain, except she missed the quiet company of runners. A weyr had to have runners for the non-dragonriders didn't it?

Dereo was over near the feeding grounds. He had noticed the herdbeasts over in the area and had been interesting in seeing them. He hadn’t quite realized what the area was until a blue dragon had swooped down and picked off one of the herdbeasts, feasting on it vigorously. It was a gruesome sight, blood and flesh being ripped into, but Dereo wasn’t bothered by it and found it interesting to watch the dragon feed.
The young man had started out looking for runners as well. They were an animal he was familiar with and he felt at home with. They were comforting to him. And while he had asked one of the Shield members if he was allowed outside into the Weyrbowl, he wasn’t going to ask them about runners. That was likely to make them think he would run away. Which was a tempting thought but not a smart one. He would never last long in the forests here and he had no interest in being some wild feline’s lunch. And a part of him was curious about the dragons and if he would end up Impressing. If he didn’t Impress he had already decided that he would try and pick up the craft of dragonhealing, at least then he’d be useful.
He heard the sound of someone walking around near him and stiffened a bit as he turned to see who it was. He relaxed seeing it was Osaris, not only was she with the Expedition but the two had been deemed buddies. For being one of the little lordlings send on the trip, Dereo didn’t mind Osaris like he did some of the others. She could be a but odd at times but they at least shared a passion for runners. “Hello Osaris, enjoying the fresh air and free time from chores?”

Osaris turned and saw her buddy from the expedition, Dereo. Her lips turned up in a gentle smie he was a good person. He never tried to ignore her or give her mean looks when she said something strange. She founde herself actually glad to see his familiar face. "Hello Dareo."
She stopped, thought about the question and answered, "I hate being trapped inside. I am not used to doing things inside a building. I've cleaned stables and done things like that before, but my mother never approved of us doing chores, and personally I do not find them particularly exciting. I miss my runner and I miss the fresh cold mountain air. What about you?" Her eyebrows moved as she talked. When she was concentrating, her eyebrows furrowed, and when she asked a question one eyebrow would raise up.
As she stood there, her hands started to move and fidgit at her side as if she couldn't keep them still. It was like they had a will of their own.

He shook his head a little to himself as he listened to Osaris. Ah the life of a little lordling, how lucky. Home at the crafthall had given him his share of chores to take care of daily. "It's nice out here, and kind of fun to watch a dragon hunt so long as you don't have a weak stomach. And chores were never meant to be exciting, if they were then people wouldn't mind doing them. But I'd rather have the work then have nothing to do. It at least gives me a chance to do something even if it's nothing more then cleaning." He nodded though as Osaris talked about missing home. "I miss my family, I miss the friends I had made at the Hall, I miss the runners that I cared for and was working on. I try not to think about it too much though, there's no point in making myself homesick when I know I won't be able to see home again for turns." He frowned and stopped himself from adding 'if ever' to his words. There was no need to spread his pessimistic views to others.
A slight frown touched his lips as he looked back out at the blue dragon that was finishing up his meal. He could understand the Weyr for keeping them here, that made sense if they didn't want the North to know that they were still here and if they wanted to stop them from sending more people south. He didn't understand why they were being allowed to stand at the Hatching though. He let out a little sigh before he glanced back at Osaris, raising an eyebrow slightly as he watched her fidget. He had seen her do it before of course but it was still an odd sight, mostly because she was suppose to be one of those proper little lordlings, weren't most of the daughters suppose to be able to stand still and be quiet for hours at a time?
He chuckled a little and glanced around. "I came out here hoping to try and find some runners. They're bound to have some around here some where. But probably not near here. Care to join me in my search?"
