Walking into the Galley, Essabellona twirled her hair into a bun with her hands. She was ready to be put to work: she didn't want her hair in her way and in the people's food. After a quick greeting to the Cook (whom she had met the previous day when, again, she was bored and antsy), the girl grabbed a sharp utensil and began chopping the ingredients necessary for tonight's dinner. Her movements were brisk and sure; her work even and concise.
She didn't enjoy sitting idly on the ship, and she didn't know enough about travel-by-boat to be of use anywhere else. Anyways, she had been sea-sick unless she was distracted, and so Essa would probably be in the Galley a lot until she made friends, or began cleaning all the different rooms on the ship. Which, actually, was a definite possibility. A smile curved her lips as she thought of it... at least it would be something to keep her busy.
Still, though, making friends seemed like a better option. She'd been a little busy settling in and getting sick to meet many people. Now, however, seemed like as good a time as any to make nice and find some kindred spirits. Shaking her head lightly, Essabellona looked around the room. It stopped her chopping momentarily, and the break from the steady noise drew her attention back to the task she had been given.
Essabellona began chopping again, her mind meandering around. She supposed that she was lonely... after all, at home she had plenty of friends, her family, those she had always grown up with. The only time she'd been without her family was when she went for her turn of exploration. But even then, Essa had had her friends to distract and amuse her from her homesickness. A slight sigh escaped her body, before she straightened again.
Now, that was too depressing to think about. She was here for a reason: to find the dragons, and help save Pern. If Essa truly believed that they were out there, and the dragons and their riders were there to help the rest of the world, then she should ignore all of her sicknesses (whether it be home or sea by nature). So that's what Essabellona decided to do. And the girl began chopping methodically, focusing on the movement and then sound, with dim awareness of the gossip stirring about the rest of the Galley.
