Kethemar rubbed his thumb over his chin as he contemplated Tishu's question. He'd been told a few rules and things to follow when he'd arrived so he decided to simply impart what he'd been told, "I think one of the reasons we were chosen from the North is because we're Candidates with a craft that will be useful here in the South. I don't know how much time we'll have to work with our chosen crafts as Candidates, and I certainly doubt we'll have time if we Impress. But hopefully after that we'll be able to continue. Especially you as a healer, I imagine that comes in handy, far more so than a fisherman." He grinned a little. Healing was something that Tishu could still work on in here spare time around the Weyr, Kethemar, on the other hand, couldn't exactly just run out and hop in a boat whenever he wished.
Infact, as much as he'd wanted to get away from his home, Kethemar actually found himself feeling nostalgic. He missed the smell of the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the continuous breeze that accompanied the ebb and flow of the water. Being in the middle of all of this land made him feel a little claustrophobic. He wondered if he would ever be able to get a dragonrider to ferry him to the beach on a Restday. He wasn't sure if the dragonriders at Refuge had free time for that sort of thing, especially for a Candidate.

Thinking about what he said a few moments as she chewed the meatroll she had popped into her mouth. "Ohhh, do you think you can teach me how to fish? When we get the chance that is. I have always wanted to learn. In exchange, if you ever want to know anything about runners or if you don't know how to ride, I can help you there. Any of you included." She offered. Hopefully it didn't come out sounding like they had never been on or near a runner.

Kethemar grinned at the question. Would he teach her to fish? Of course he would teach her to fish! Although for Turns it had seemed like a monotonous task enforced on him by his fishercrafter parents, now that he was no longer around it he realized how ingrained the craft had become. Not to mention, Kethemar hadn't been fishing, just for fun, in ages. Every time he'd been out on the water in the past months it had been work because the Hold had depended on the fish brought in to feed the people.
"I have ridden before," he commented regarding Tishu's offer, "but I do like to ride if you ever want a partner when you head out." It was good to make friends, especially in a new place. Despite being something of an adventurous loner in the past, Kethemar saw the necessity of having resources now that he might possibly be a dragonrider some day. And, in the even that he never became a dragonrider he had to be prepared to find his place among the other Weyrfolks.

Shammy listened to the two northerners talk, it was interesting to hear a bit of where they were from and what they could do. When Tishu asked Kethemar about learning how to fish, her interest perked up. "I'd like to know how to fish too, if you don't mind Kethemar. And to ride Tishu. I've never learned to fish, and having fish for a meal was a rare treat. I love runners too Tishu, but never had the chance to learn. Maybe one day we will get the chance." Shammy asked grinning.
"Ohhh, that would be so fun Shamara, I'd love to teach you to ride if they will let us use a runner and when we have time. I'm so glad I met you both. I was wondering about making friends. And I think that's important sense we are all three Candidates and will need to work together being riders one day. I've never eaten fish either Kethemar are they good?" She asked then laughed cause she realized she was babbling.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited. This place is so huge and things are done so different here. I guess I'm a bit overwhelmed." she added turning pink.
Shammy laughed with her, "It's ok. I understand."
